Thxgiving Pt. 2 OOTD

Hi!! The day after Thanksgiving, Johnny and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at El Meson with his parents. I might have still been in a slight food coma but I never say no to Mexican food and El Meson is, hands down, the best restaurant in our neck of the woods. The meal was delicious, the company was delightful, and I loved piecing together this little something to wear. Also, so aware there aren’t many pics to check out. We were starving and freezing our nads off when we took these before leaving and it was definitely not my best work. Lol, hey it happens to the best of us!

Jacket: Vince Camuto, TJMaxx

Skinny Jeans: 1822 Denim, TJMaxx

Boots: Candie’s, Kohl’s

Earrings: Argentino Vivo, TJMaxx

The hat belonged to my grandma! ❤

I am not a fan of winter in the slightest and am a spring and fall girl through and through. However, I sure love dressing for winter! Jackets are one of my favorite fashion items and I have quite a collection of cold weather coats to choose from. It is exciting to break them out again and I couldn’t wait to wear my amazing blazer style jacket by Vince Camuto. It is one of my all time favorite TJMaxx purchases and I feel like a star in it. Those faux fur cuffs just scream luxury and I have a little Devil Wears Prada moment every time I slip it on. This jacket is a timeless staple with a twist and that is exactly what I like.

The base of this outfit was kept simple as I wanted the jacket and accessories to do all of the talking. And anyways, I had no intention of taking my jacket off. Did I mention it was freaking freezing?! Black skinny jeans and a form fitting navy sweater were the move and it was off to accessorize. This is always the best part of dressing for winter for me as I am a huge accessory girl and the cold months are my time to shine. As a heavily tattooed chick, accessories fly out the window when it’s hot out because they are my accessories. In the winter, I forget I have a majority of my ink because I’m all covered up!

For accessories, I delved into my hat collection and returned with a beautiful vintage cloche hat from my grandma. She had the most impeccable style and hats were her favorite. I am lucky enough to have several of her hats and it brings me so much joy to wear them. I think she would be so happy about it too! This hat is so timeless yet modern with that black feather and it was just right with my jacket for that freshened up old-timey feel.

In the shoe department I opted for a gorgeous pair of thigh high boots by Candie’s to strut my stuff in. These boots are eight years old but I just can’t part with them! I love their length, the heel, and how form fitting they are for a sleek and lean silhouette. Last but not least was jewelry and I chose a medium sized pair of hoops by Argentino Vivo in forest green. As red and green are complimentary colors, they looked especially striking against the vibrant red of the hat. With that, I was ready for food coma round two!

I love me a holiday where all that’s required is to dress up and eat. Is it bad that I’m already thinking about Christmas dinner… and next year’s Thanksgiving?! 😀

What is your favorite holiday? How do you celebrate it? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Thxgiving OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Thxgiving OOTD! Has everyone worked off their food coma? I’m getting there lol. I absolutely live for Thanksgiving food and the only setting I know once dinner rolls around is going hard in the paint! All I have to say is, I’m SO glad that we took OOTD pictures before our Thanksgiving feast because I literally couldn’t move afterwards. I couldn’t wait to get into sweatpants! The meal? Amazing. These shots? Not so much!

Johnny was off of work the entire week of Thanksgiving and I had a four day weekend. Even on the days I was working, it felt like a vacation because Johnny took care of the bunnies every morning and I was able to sleep in. It was freaking awesome! Although it was very hard to leave for work while he was posted up on the couch, those extra Z’s made my days a breeze and I was eagerly counting down until my time off too. It had been over three months since my last days off, which I actually didn’t realize until now. So, yeah, I really needed it!

During my four day weekend we got lunch with Johnny’s parents for Thanksgiving and I was able to FaceTime with my blogging bestie. Other than that, I did nothing and it was glorious! After going nonstop for what felt like forever, it was just me, myself, and the couch. And Johnny when he wasn’t napping. 🙂 It was exactly what I needed. However, as I type this on Monday morning I think I could definitely benefit from another day off, or two, or ten. It is SO hard going back to work after a mini vaca!!

It’s back to the grind which means my Christmas countdown is starting NOW. Bring on more time off, pretty please and thank you! ❤

How are you celebrating the holidays? Are you traveling during time off from work? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Thxgiving OOTD

Thxgiving OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred. I hope all of you had a fabulous Thanksgiving. I sure did! Thanksgiving is a funny holiday because you literally just get dressed up to eat a bunch of food and then change into clothes that stretch. At least that’s how my Thanksgivings always go anyways. I couldn’t wait to break out the dress in this OOTD for the occasion of standing around my parents’ kitchen so let’s take a looksee:

Dress: Blu Pepper, TJMaxx

Kitten Heels: Nine West, TJMaxx

The earrings were purchased forever ago from PacSun!

My mom and I had a TJMaxx shopping trip a month or so ago and I fell in love with this beautiful little number by Blu Pepper. As soon as I saw it, I had visions of wearing it to Thanksgiving and it came true! This dress looks like something a doll would wear and I just can’t get enough of it. That rich caramel color, polka dots, bib collar, AND bow? Forget about it! It just feels like the perfect Thanksgiving dress and I can’t explain that any further. It just is!

I stayed very true to my original plan for this look and paired my dress with a cozy pair of charcoal grey cable knit tights. I’m glad I did because it was snowing when Johnny and I left the house! The tights added to the doll vibe of my dress and to keep with that theme, I chose the sweetest pair of kitten heels by Nine West. That tiny heel and blingy strap is too cute and as much as I adore a big, chunky heel these are one of my favorite pairs. Last but not least I popped on a pair of brooch style earrings that feel oh so vintage. They kind of are, I guess. They were bought over fifteen years ago lol. Pretend you didn’t just read that. 😀

My Thxgiving OOTD turned out exactly how I pictured it and I can’t wait to wear my Blu Pepper dress again. One of my favorite TJs purchases!

How was your Thanksgiving? What are some of your holiday traditions? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hello everyone and Happy Thanksgiving! I am going to keep this post short and sweet because we all have places to go and people to see… And green bean casserole to eat! Just me? Lol, that’s okay because y’all can send it my way. It is my FAVORITE! Thanksgiving is the time to celebrate what is important to you and what’s important to me is all of you – my dear readers. It has almost been another year here on lifewithlilred and even though it has been eleven years of Lil Red ramblings, I feel like I’m just getting started! I hope you will always continue to join me for the ride. ❤

No matter where you are located, you are a friend to me and there are few things I appreciate more than the friends I have. We might not really know each other and that’s okay. If you have read my blog, I think you get the idea! 😉 Having my little corner of the internet to create and share is something that I have always wanted. You know my old saying, even if no one read my blog – I would still write it for the joy of writing. That would get awfully lonely, though, and words can’t express how thankful I am that you are all here sharing this space with me. It means the world to me and I can only hope that you get a little bit of joy when you stop by on my page.

Thank you for being my friend, thank you for sharing with me, and thank you for being you. I love you all!! ❤

Are you pro green bean casserole? What is your favorite Thanksgiving food? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Thanksgiving Pt. 1 OOTD Bloopers

Howdy ya’ll and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Thanksgiving Pt. 1 OOTD! Johnny and I had a joyous two day celebration with our families and then we hibernated into a food coma for the rest of the weekend. It. Was. Awesome. lol! I never really feel too Christmasy until after Thanksgiving and now that it has come and passed, I am SO ready for it! Yes, I am very excited for the food but there is nothing better than Christmas with my nieces and nephews. 🙂 Let’s check out these bloopers and discuss a hairy situation:

Okay, I am genuinely curious. For those that shave their legs, armpits, etc – do you remember a point in your life when it felt like the end of the world when you missed a rogue patch of hair while shaving? I sure do and I was convinced everyone could tell! As time went on, of course, I cared less and less. And, now that the warm days of summer are long gone, I just don’t care at all lol. I have always hated shaving and it’s cold AF so no one will be any wiser to the hairy situation under my clothes, so I stopped bothering once fall hit. And, yes, I am SO aware that getting back to silky smooth will be a massive chore once the warm weather comes around!

When we were celebrating with Johnny’s family, it was So. Damn. Hot. in their house. The cardigan I had on was doing me no favors and all I wanted to do was take it off. Then, I remembered how hairy my armpits were and decided otherwise. The evening went on, until there came a point in the festivities when I was literally dying of heatstroke and I made the choice to take the cardigan off. Honestly, I was kind of self conscious because of my armpit hair and blessedly it seemed like no one noticed or cared. As I sat there stewing, my anxiety alleviated as I reminded myself that it’s just hair lol. There’s no rule stating you have to shave so it makes no difference how you maintain it.

The moral of the story? Your body, your hair! The evening did not come to a grinding halt as soon as I removed my cardigan so do whatever TF you want!

How often do you shave? Have you ever had a situation similar to mine? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Thanksgiving Pt. 2 OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to my Thanksgiving OOTD from my family celebration! Before we begin, if it looks like I am sweaty in these pictures, it’s because I was lol. I had literally JUST gotten done cooking five or so minutes prior to taking them and let’s just say it was really steamy in the kitchen!! The sweater I was wearing probably didn’t help matters, but all was well once the house started cooling down. 🙂 Check it out:

IMG_1930IMG_1888IMG_1927

Polka Dot Sweater: Lucky Brand

Skinny Jeans: 1822 Denim, TJMaxx

Snakeskin Pattern Boots: Vince Camuto, TJMaxx

The earrings were purchased forever ago at PacSun!

When celebrating with Johnny’s family, they handle all of the cooking and all I need to do is sit back and enjoy. At my family’s home, I love being able to prepare dinner with my mom so I didn’t want to wear any clothes that I was worried about ruining but, of course, still looked cute. Because I didn’t learn from being WAY too hot in the cardigan I wore to Chez Miller’s the day before, I decided a sweater was the way to go at my mom and dad’s. Makes sense, right? 😀

As I browsed through my sweaters, I wasn’t really sure what to choose. I had several that I would be devastated if they got stained and a lot of light colored options which wouldn’t work either. Then, I remembered my polka dot sweater by Lucky Brand and we were in business. The reasoning behind it, other than being absolutely adorable? It’s basically just a prettier color of Thanksgiving food lol. I managed to avoid cooking without any spills but I truly believe that if I did, it wouldn’t have been that noticeable!

Black skinnies were the way to go since the sweater already featured a bold, fun pattern. So, it was onto shoes and accessories. For shoes, I went with one of my favorite pairs of heeled boots by Vince Camuto. As you all know, I am a fan of anything snakeskin and the unique combination of chocolate brown and black fit so well with the look. The black skinnies blended perfectly and the brown was a nice pairing with the mustard yellow sweater. I didn’t want to be bothered with necklaces or bracelets while cooking so I popped on a lovely pair of antique-vibe studs with roses on them and was ready to create some culinary delight!

I didn’t break a sweat while putting this look together but I certainly did while getting dinner together. Keep it locked for the Blooper Reel coming soon!!

Who prepares holiday dinners at your celebrations? What is your go to dish to bring to a get together? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hello everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!!! Today is one of my favorite days of the year and I am so looking forward to celebrating with mine and Johnny’s family. I am sure that all of you have grand plans for the day so I don’t want to take up too much of your time! But what kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t give an extra special holiday shout out to my dear readers? You already know I am infinitely thankful for all of you!!

lifewithlilred has been going strong for a decade and change and I still have a really hard time believing that. During this extensive tenure, you have been with me for every update, accomplishment, disappointment, and life changes and I think that is really cool. In fact, it’s what motivates me to keep up with daily content because I know that you are out there, somewhere reading it. My blog is just as much mine as it is yours and my biggest hope is that people smile when they stumble upon my corner of the internet.

The blogosphere is a beautiful thing and it has the power to bring people together. My blog gifted me with my best friend in the world and has brought people into my life that I would have never known otherwise. I was extremely lonely when I started lifewithlilred and the blogging community really helped remedy that. From Akron, Ohio, I am able to say that I have friends all over the world and my gratefulness for that knows no bounds.

Thank you to all of you for being my friend. Thank you to all of you for stopping by my page and being with me. Happy Thanksgiving to all! ❤

Let’s Dish: Thanksgiving Food

Hello!! I have literally been looking forward to Thanksgiving since last Thanksgiving. And, when Thanksgiving is over, I eagerly await Christmas because my family just does Thanksgiving dinner Round Two. In case you haven’t noticed, I freaking LOVE Thanksgiving food and it makes me sad that I only get to indulge in this passion twice a year lol. And, indulge I shall. Let’s Dish on some Thanksgiving staples that I will definitely be going in for seconds (or tenths!) on:

There are some people who absolutely detest green bean casserole and that’s fine – you can just give it all to me! This is one of my designated dishes to prepare and, I hate to brag, but I knock it out of the park every time. It is SO easy to make, tastes divine, and is my all time favorite Thanksgiving food.

Stuffing is also one of the sides on my To Cook list and, once again, I hate to toot my own horn but it is always bomb AF. I load mine up with celery, onions, tons of garlic, and freestyle the herbs. The trick is to not make it too dry or moist so I am very careful when adding in the vegetable stock. I also add a few pads of butter over top of the stuffing before sticking it in the oven and it has never not turned out just right.

Potatoes are a beautiful thing, aren’t they? No matter how they’re made, I like it all! My mom makes the best homemade mashed potatoes and it is the perfect blend of not too creamy but not too chunky either. And, of course, I can’t get enough of sweet potatoes! While I prefer them plain with a bit of butter, my mother-in-law makes a dynamite sweet potato casserole that I always look forward to. 🙂

As a vegetarian, turkey is a very obvious no. However, even if I did it meat it would still be a no lol. I genuinely don’t even remember what turkey tastes like. What I do know, is that I don’t think I ever liked it because it was never on my plate when I was a kid!

Is it weird that I have never tried cranberry sauce? Guys, I just can’t do it. It’s not so much the way it looks, although that is part of it. It’s mainly a texture thing. It’s one of those foods that I know for a fact I won’t like so I don’t bother. And, at thirty years old, I don’t plan on bothering because I’ve lasted this long without it.

HARD no. The only time I have ever tried pumpkin pie is when one of my old client’s brother insisted I take a bite. It was awful! The flavor. The texture. Everything. Even with half a canister of whipped cream on one bite!! I mean, if you like baby food then what a treat lol.

Side dishes reign supreme on my Thanksgiving and I simply can’t wait to dig in! 😀

What is your favorite and least favorite Thanksgiving food? What are your plans for the holiday? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Thanksgiving Pt. 2 OOTD Bloopers

Helloooo everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Thanksgiving Pt. 2 OOTD! For Thanksgiving, I had four days off in total and it was absolutely magnificent. I cannot remember the last time I had that much time off in a row – probably not since we vacationed in the Poconos over two years ago! It was basically a Thanksgiving miracle, but it was SO hard to get back to work come Monday. I feel like I went through most of the week half asleep lol. During this OOTD shoot, however, I was wide awake because holy shit was it cold haha check it out:

What an amazing action shot, amiright?

image_50461953(7)

Back in the day when I was ice skating a lot, I would say that I had a very high tolerance to cold weather. I was so used to it that it never really phased me. Fast forward to when I have not skated in forever and any semblance of tolerance to the cold has flown out the window. Whatever the weather, I will never stop shooting OOTD content. Having said that, these Thanksgiving photo shoots were freaking miserable! Not only was the temperature frigid, but it was windy as all get out and made things so much worse. It was the kind of cold that literally just goes right through you.

Speaking of being cold, it is forever freezing in my apartment compliments of my sweet husband. ❤ Johnny runs hot both in looks and temperature wise. Myself, on the other hand, am a huge freeze baby. We are constantly turning our thermostat up and down, much to each other’s displeasure. While I never back down from a challenge, I have admitted defeat in the Great Thermostat Battle of 2023 because I cannot win! That’s not to say that the cold apartment doesn’t have its perks because there is one… I put my freezing hands and feet on Johnny and lovingly remind him that he is doing it to himself. How adorable are we? 😉

I don’t miss the scorching days of summer, but I would be elated if I could transport to a 70s and sunny location right about now. I guess I’ll make do with make believe as I wrap myself in yet another blanket SMH!

What is winter weather like in your neck of the woods? What is your perfect temperature? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Thanksgiving Pt. 2 OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! You guys already saw the look I created for Thanksgiving day at my mom and dad’s and today we’re going to take a gander at what I wore to celebrate with Johnny’s family. We spent a wonderful day with Johnny’s mom, dad, and aunt the day after Thanksgiving. We had a delicious meal, played lots of goofy games like Quiplash, and had an absolute blast. For Thanksgiving Pt. 2, I wanted to style an OOTD that was cute, of course, but comfy too. Your girl was in a food coma from the day before lol! Check it out:

image_50769665(2)image_50769921(2)image_50456065(6)image_50734593(3)image_50737409(1)

Who? What? Wear?

Cheetah Print Cardigan: Ruby Moon, TJMaxx

Black Sweater: Shrinking Violet, TJMaxx

Coated Skinny Jeans: Seven Jeans, TJMaxx

Red Heeled Boots: Bamboo, TJMaxx

Coin Necklace: Mia Fiore, TJMaxx

I have no idea where the cross earrings are from!

Whenever I think of “cute and comfy” for cold weather clothing, my mind instantly conjures up cardigans. I love me a cardigan SO much and have quite the collection in every style and knit imaginable. Cardis are a fun piece of clothing because they are truly a dress up or dress down piece. An outfit featuring a cardigan can be as casual or as dressy as you make it and I chose my cheetah print cardi by Ruby Moon to get my OOTD started. Like my husband, I am very fond of animal print and the cheetah pattern of this cardigan just hit different. The jet black pattern against the wheat colored base felt chic and added a touch of sophistication to such a classic comfort piece.

Once I had selected my cardigan, the rest of the outfit was super easy to build from there. It was FREEZING on Thanksgiving Day and it was just as cold on Friday too. To stay warm, I put on a black sweater by Shrinking Violet. This was the perfect layering piece for underneath my cardi because it was thin and form fitting. Remember when layering that two thicker pieces on top of each other is a major no no unless you like looking like a marshmallow! I also liked that this sweater was completely plain so it let the cheetah print do all of the talking.

Next, it was time to visit the pants department and I knew just what I needed: My coated black skinnies by Seven Jeans. These actually feature a snakeskin pattern but you would never know unless you are really looking for it. However, it wasn’t the pattern I was interested in for these jeans but the texture. With two knit pieces on top, I wanted to add some visual interest on the bottom and my Seven Jeans gave the sheen to break things up. This was another way to keep my OOTD feeling chic even though I was purely dressing for comfort.

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. For jewelry, I had a nice blank canvas from the plain Shrinking Violet sweater so I could get away with a chunky necklace that had some length. I went for a stunning necklace by Mia Fiore that featured a bright gold chain and an antique coin as the pendant. I also put on a pair of long dangly cross earrings to offer some extra length to my neck since it was rather covered up. Since the base of this outfit was completely neutral, I knew that I could have some fun with the shoes. I chose my pointed toe, cherry red heeled boots by Bamboo and it gave a fabulous pop of color. With that, I was ready to go eat even more Thanksgiving food! 😀

I styled two completely different looks this Thanksgiving and I love how both of them turned out. For Thanksgiving Pt. 2, I wanted to style a look that would never let you know I was dressing to be comfy and I think I succeeded!

What do you wear to dress for comfort? What is your favorite pattern to wear? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
