Autumn Errands OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Autumn Errands OOTD! During the work week, you are never going to find me with a full face of makeup or wearing anything but Misny Merch lol. The weekend, however, is my time to shine! Regardless of if I wear the outfit all day or change into my pajamas immediately after, it always feels good to get dressed up. In this look’s case, I was absolutely back in my PJs as soon as we got home from Spirit Halloween. Short lived, yes. Still cute? Definitely! Maybe not these pictures, though…

Howdy partners!!!!

Having a partner who revels as much as I do in Halloween like Johnny is truly a gift. We live for it and no matter how we spend Halloween celebrating, it is never not a good time. One thing we particularly enjoy is helping out with Trick or Treat in my parents’ neighborhood as my apartment community doesn’t participate. We come armed with bags and bags of candy, Johnny prepares a big bonfire, and then we sit back for a viewing of the costume parade.

In my youth, my siblings and I would literally wear the exact same costumes every year until we outgrew them. They were all super generic, but no one could tell me NOTHING in my Discount Drugmart princess costume lol. It is a scientific fact that the costumes from our trick or treaters put my old duds to shame and there is nothing cuter than seeing all of the kiddos in their Halloween best. We have seen several noteworthy costumes throughout the years, but one specific instance always is the first to pop into mine and Johnny’s heads. There was a two or so year old dressed up as a cup of coffee and her parents were baristas. When we offered her the candy bowl, her parents asked her what piece she wanted. Then, the girl pointed her little finger and declared “DAT ONE”. We still find ourselves saying it years later!

I hope all of you are getting into the Halloween spirit and have the best, spooky time celebrating!

What are you doing for Halloween? What were you for Halloween when you were little? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Halloween Fun

Hello!! Last year was a pretty rough time for yours truly and although Johnny and I always revel in the Halloween season, we didn’t do a whole lot of anything. I am pleased to report that this year, we are back on our BS in a major way and I love that for us! We have grand plans for this beloved time for the both of us and I can’t wait to complete everything on our Halloween checklist:

Johnny and I started dating in September of 2019 – mere months before the Covid-19 pandemic. That Halloween was the only time that we went to a haunted house together and I just won’t stand for it. There is an absolutely fantastic haunted house about a half hour or so away from us. It’s called the Factory of Terror and it is one of the largest indoor haunted attractions in the country. This is the haunted house we went to when we first started dating! However, it will be nothing like what we saw during our outing. The cool thing about the Factory of Terror is that they change all five of their haunted houses every year into something unrecognizable to prior visits. I can’t wait to see what it looks like this year!

Something you might not know about me is that my first job was working as an actor at a haunted house called Carnival of Horrors. I know every single trick in the book, yet all that knowledge goes out the window as soon as I go to haunted houses. Much to Johnny’s amusement, I become the prime target for the actors because I get got every time lol. I’m sure it will be the same thing this time around but, hey, that’s the fun of a haunted house. 😀

One of my all time favorite Date Days with Johnny was when we visited a local pumpkin patch. We got the cutest tiny pumpkins, took the cutest pictures, and enjoyed a yummy meal afterwards. We also never did this again so we are adding it to the agenda! While we don’t have a yard to decorate due to apartment life, we need a little something and no porch is complete without a few pumpkins. Johnny also takes great pleasure in throwing them at trees so we’ll grab a couple of extra ones for that purpose lol.

Last year, Johnny and I made a bonfire and passed out candy with my parents at their house. It was SO much fun to see all of the kids in their costumes parading throughout the neighborhood and we definitely plan on doing that again. We also will be joining our nieces for their Trick or Treat outing and are looking forward to it so much. We are keeping our fingers crossed that our nieces will share the loot with their Fun Aunt and Uncle! 😀

Johnny and I have never done matching costumes and we are going for it this year. We are going to have Candyland inspired costumes with Johnny being Lord Licorice and me being a Candy Queen. I am so excited for it! In fact, we already have our costumes for next year picked out too: Alice Cooper and Cold Ethyl. The hilarious thing about both of these costumes for Johnny is that he literally already has everything he needs in his own wardrobe. Does that mean he’ll go halfsies with me on the costumes I have to buy? #fingerscrossed

Finally, Johnny and I are VERY committed to completing the 31 scary movies in 31 days challenge this year. We haven’t missed a day yet and it has been great. We have been working our way through Johnny’s silly slashers and my atmospheric picks in alternation. And, of course, wearing our matching spooky pajamas and noshing on movie theater treats. I look forward to what we are going to watch every day upon our return home and it is such a nice change of pace from our usual post-work screenings of SVU!

All aboard the Halloween Fun express because we are living it up this spooky season!

What are your favorite Halloween activities? What is your favorite holiday? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello!!! Johnny and I had so much fun on Halloween and this has been my favorite spooky season celebration we have had yet. I loved my costume, we watched all of the scary movies, and enjoyed a bonfire while we passed out Trick or Treat candy with my family. Normally, it’s like pulling teeth to get Johnny to take a “nice” picture with me. (He has a knack for subtly flipping the bird in most of our pictures lol SMH!) On Trick or Treat night, however, he was ready for his close up and willingly took these shots with me. I think he rocked it!

image_50424065(4)image_50434305(5)image_50431233(5)image_50729985(4)image_50726657(2)image_50438913(5)image_50440705(4)

It is a joy to celebrate any holiday with Johnny, but Halloween just hits different. It’s not a season – it’s a state of mind and while we keep it spooky year round, Halloween weekend is like our Christmas Day. Johnny and I were so excited to get dressed up and jam packed our schedule full of activities. The best part was definitely helping out with Trick or Treat and we were thrilled that my family got involved in it too. We just love to spread that Halloween spirit and our bonfire was awesome. We had a powder to make the flames change colors and it looked amazing! 😀

Trick or Treat night was also great because Johnny finally took pictures with me. In fact, when I asked him if he would take “nice” pictures with me, he replied with “Of course I will. It’s Halloween!” Lol, he is so ridiculous but he was serving LOOKS in these shots. He was working his hodge podge vampire costume like nobody’s business and I was so proud. I have pictures of us together from every Halloween we have celebrated as a couple and I really treasure them. I think the pics we took this year was our best work yet. ❤

I didn’t have one piece of candy all of Halloween weekend because we ran out. But, I have countless happy memories from it and that’s good enough for me! ❤

What is your favorite Halloween candy? Least favorite? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Racy Ringleader OOTD! Last year, Johnny and I began a Halloween tradition of passing out Trick or Treat candy in my parents’ neighborhood. This is what we did on Saturday evening along with a bonfire and it was such fun. We saw a lot of great costumes throughout the evening, but I still say mine was the best lol. Sorry about it, kids!! These shots, however, were anything but the best so naturally let’s take a look:

In case you haven’t noticed, Johnny and I love Halloween and we were simply thriving over the weekend. We enjoyed ourselves so much for our dinner and movie date with our bestie on Friday, but Trick or Treat night just hits differently. The entire evening was spent sitting around a raging fire with my parents and brother, laughing and listing off all of our favorite costumes that we had seen. It was so nice to see them get into the Halloween spirit with us and share in our joy of the happiest holiday of all.

We had an insane amount of Trick or Treaters visit us and we actually ran out of candy before the event was over. In that time, we saw so many funny and adorable costumes. I think we all agreed on a kiddo specifically dressed as “Rocky III” and carrying a speaker that played “The Eye of The Tiger” as being the winner. Honorable mention goes to a kid dressed up as a “guy in a suit”, a lil baby as a Starbucks Frappachino, and an undead mermaid. All of the kids rocked it, though, and it warmed my cold, bitter heart to see everyone in the neighborhood having a blast!

This has been one of mine and Johnny’s best Halloweens yet and I wish it never ended. I’d be a liar if I said I wasn’t stoked about Thanksgiving food, though! 😀

What was your favorite Halloween costume you saw? What is your favorite candy? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Scary Fun Fall Activities

Scary Fun Fall Activities

Hello!!! Fall is the happiest time of the year for me and Johnny. The weather suits our vampire selves beautifully and autumn is when we finally emerge outdoors after a hot summer. We do not do well in the heat whatsoever and it’s so nice to be able to comfortably step out and do ALL of the fall activities together! Below are some of the things that we definitely plan on doing the next few months as well as some ideas for more fall fun. Check it out:

Hikes:

There are countless gorgeous Metro Parks in Ohio and Johnny and I live by a ton of them. Within a ten mile radius of our apartment are at least ten different ones that I can think of off the top of my head! During the week, we are hoping to fit in one or two hikes after work on the days that I get home early. It is such a joy to take a stroll through the woods during a crisp day and admire the changing leaves! Maybe we’ll even try to complete the annual Fall Hiking Spree this year, which is something we always talk about but never do lol.

Drive-In Movies:

I have only been to a drive-in movie once in my life and it freaking sucked! It was a rainy day, the car was cramped, and I was beyond over it. Johnny, on the other hand, loves a good drive-in and we plan on hitting up the one we live somewhat close to in October. The drive-in will be hosting scary movie marathons with old school horror flicks, slashers, and campy classics. It sounds like a hoot and will be a nice change of pace from our at home scary movie viewings.

Scavenger Hunts:

I think it would be so much fun to have a Halloween scavenger hunt with our friends and I would love to organize one. Perhaps a walk or drive through neighborhoods scouring Halloween decor to cross off our list? Or even visiting one of the numerous Spirit Halloweens in our area building a goofy costume on a budget. We could end the hunt making our own concoctions of spooky themed cocktails OR apple cider mimosas which I am dying to try. They sound delish! 😀

Pumpkin Partay:

One thing that Johnny and I haven’t done together is carve pumpkins and that feels like a must this year. I would love to take an afternoon trip to a pumpkin patch, pick out the perfect carving pumpkins, and make some masterpieces. Granted, no one could really see them from our balcony but we can and that’s all that matters. Here’s to me not injuring myself because this will be my first go at jack-o-lanterns – we’ll see what happens haha.

Bonfires:

This past Christmas, I got my dad a fire pit and Johnny and I can’t wait to use it this fall! We even have the kits to make the fire different colors, which will be super neat. Last year, Johnny and I had a blast passing out candy during Trick-or-Treat and we plan on creating a spooky setup with the fire pit, Halloween music, and of course dressing up too. I am SO excited to go costume shopping, although I don’t know how I’ll beat dressing up as Johnny last year!

Johnny and I are ready to live our best lives this fall and how can we not with so many Scary Fun Activities on our agenda?! Fall fun, here we come!

What is your favorite fall activity? What are you going to be for Halloween this year? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Johnny For A Day OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Johnny For A Day OOTD! This Halloween costume was so much fun to style, shoot, and wear. It was a blast to channel my inner Johnny and I have found myself wondering how he would style a costume dressed as me because he doesn’t have the luxury of fitting into my clothes lol. I loved so many of the shots from this OOTD that it had to be broken up into parts. As always, however, some of the shots were definitely of the “yikes” variety and includes the following:

I LOOK GREAT!!!!

image_50740225(1)

There was nothing scary about my costume but some of these pictures completely make up for that! My original plan was to dress up as an undead bride but there were two glaring issues. 1) I had no costume makeup and most importantly 2) I didn’t feel like shaving my legs lol this is my time to hibernate! Bored with all of my costumes, dressing up as Johnny seemed like the most logical choice and I am so glad that I went for it. In fact, I could totally picture myself wearing this outfit or something similar again!

As with the spirit of trick-or-treating, some of the pics from this shoot were a treat. The ones above were a real trick, though, especially since I thought I was working it haha. That’s the fun of the blooper reel and I hope you enjoyed this costume series as much as I did making it! ❤

How was your Halloween? Are you in Christmas mode already? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas

Standard
Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas

Hello!! It’s Halloween weekend and if you are without a costume, then I feel it! I, myself, am store bought costumeless this year because I had literally no time to go shopping for one. However, I will be using one of my last minute ideas that we will be discussing today so it’s all good! If you need a costume for a party or passing out candy to trick-or-treaters, you might be surprised by what you can make from the pieces in your own closet. All you will need is some makeup to fully complete the look! Let’s get started:

Scarecrow:

If you have some ripped up blue jeans, a flannel, and a sturdy pair of work boots, then BOOM: You instantly have a scarecrow costume. For makeup, you can look up tutorials to do some patches on your face and hands for the full effect. You can also use the base of this costume to be a cowboy or cowgirl. Just swap the work boots for cowboy boots and add a hat and you’re ready for the rodeo. 😀

Decade Costumes:

Do you have a love for a certain time period with the clothes to match? Then you are all set! Decade costumes from the 70s, 80s, 90s, or whatever tickles your fancy are always a hit. You could put together the ultimate jazzercize costume or a look that’s worthy of the disco with flared pants, platforms, and a sleek button down. Easy peasy!

Undead Bride Or Groom:

When Johnny and I pass out trick-or-treat candy, I am just planning on wearing my black wedding dress and doing some undead makeup lol. No matter the color of your dress or suit, this is another quick fix if you are costumeless. If you aren’t keen on wearing your own wedding attire, secondhand shops tend to have a wide selection of weddingwear on the cheap.

Your SO Or Bestie:

Are you attending a party with your significant other or bestie? You can dress up as them! If I don’t feel like wearing my wedding dress, this is the route that I am going. All one needs to do is raid your costume inspiration’s wardrobe or find pieces that they would wear in your own. Since I already wear Johnny’s clothes constantly, it might be fun to style a look that he would wear when he’s playing a concert!

Sportswear:

Win the gold with your costume by dressing up as an athlete or just a super fan. If you have a passion for watching or playing sports and you have the gear to back it up, then this is the costume for you. Paint your face with your favorite team’s colors, get one of those hats that you can drink beer out of, and you are good to go!

Animal Attire:

Is dressing up as a cat, teddy bear, or bat the most original costume? Not by a long shot! However, it will have to do if you are crunched for time. You can pull a Karen from Mean Girls and be a mouse… duh! Either way, all you need is clothing the color of your animal, ears, potentially wings, and makeup and you will be ready for your Halloween plans.

Although I had a store bought costume in mind, I am a-okay with a makeshift one this year. Keep it posted to see what I end up dressing up as next week on lifewithlilred!

What are you dressing up as for Halloween? What are your Halloween plans? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Accessory Story: Halloween Haul Pt. 2

Standard
Accessory Story: Halloween Haul Pt. 2

Hello! After acquiring our Halloween costumes, Johnny and I realized that we didn’t have everything that we needed. So, we made our way back to Spirit Halloween to pick up some odds and ends to complete our costumes. Makeup was an absolute must but I also needed to grab some type of skirt for my bodysuit style costume, which I can’t wait to show you all! Now, take a look at this part two Halloween Haul:

Despite getting everything that we needed for our costumes, I will be the first to admit that Johnny and I should have done this a lot earlier. When we hit the store last Thursday, Spirit Halloween was so picked over with entire displays completely bare and a check out line longer than waiting for a ride at an amusement part. I think if we waited even an hour longer to go, we wouldn’t have gotten the last few essentials for our costumes!

Originally, I wanted a black tulle skirt to compliment my bodysuit but there was none to be found. All that was left was purple and red skirts so red it was! Because the red was going to be such an abrupt pop of color, I decided to go with the glitter top hat headband to tie the look together. It might work or it might not but, on the bright side, I could use it if I celebrate Halloween as a sexy Mad Hatter next year lol.

With the costume accessories taken care of, it was onto makeup and Johnny purchased us a palette with red, black, and white cream based makeup. While he selected our face palette, I needed eyelash glue in a bad way because all of mine was no longer usable. I won’t be wearing the bow fake eyelashes with my costume but it gave me all of the Hello Kitty vibes and I couldn’t pass them up. So cute!

And, finally, the hair glitter was not really a costume purchase either but something fun to have. I used to love using gold and silver spray glitter in my hair for some fairy sparkle so I just had to buy a can for myself. I was a bit disappointed that there was no gold glitter but beggars can’t be choosers when the entire store’s supply was almost entirely gone.

Partially for costumes and partially for fun, Spirit Halloween provided me with another successful accessory haul. I can’t wait for all of you to see mine and Johnny’s Halloween OOTDs so keep it posted!

What is your favorite holiday? What did you dress up as for Halloween? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Spooky (And Safe!) Family Fun

Spooky (And Safe!) Family Fun

Hello! Halloween is right around the corner and, unfortunately, it’s going to be very different than in 2019. No trick or treat for my niece, no big parties, no Halloween concerts with Johnny – just lots of scary movies and fond memories of when COVID didn’t exist. If you’re a huge fan of Halloween like me and Johnny, this might have you feeling down and out about the lack of activity going on. So, why not give these spooky and safe ideas a try?

Trunk Or Treat:

In my neck of the woods, they are doing a trunk or treat program for the little ones getting in the Halloween spirit. This involves picking up a treat bag at ten different, driveable locations and, afterwards, your name will be put in a drawing for more goodies. My family plans on piling up in Johnny’s mini van so we can all enjoy seeing our little niece dressed up in her Halloween’s best… And all from the comfort of our car! Nice. 😀

Shudder Screening:

Johnny and I have been watching nothing but scary movies this entire month and we have the streaming service, Shudder, to thank for that. In fact, we’ve had so much success that we plan on keeping the service beyond our free month long trial. From exclusive content just for Shudder, scary shows, movies, and the fact that they are constantly adding more programming I can’t believe we haven’t gotten this service sooner! The first show I recommend? Creepshow! It. Was. AWESOME.

Costume Contests:

If you’re used to having a yearly Halloween party with your friend group, how about hopping on Zoom to have a little reunion? Create costumes from what you already have at home and award a prize to the best look. Maybe that will be Cash app-ing some moolah or ordering a pizza for the top winner? Don’t forget “raspberry” prizes for the worst costume!

Spooky Scavenger Hunt:

A super fun way to celebrate Halloween night is with a spooky scavenger hunt. Limit yourselves just in your home and backyard and, once it gets dark, let the games begin. Fun for people of all ages, use clues and hints to help direct the participants to the items being collected. Mini pumpkins or ingredients to a “potion” perhaps? Once the hunt is complete, celebrate with candy, caramel apples, hot cider, and a movie.

Jack-O-Lantern Contest:

Jack-O-Lantern contests are a great way to get the whole neighborhood involved in some Halloween fun. Have everyone vote for the best pumpkins on your block and see who comes out on top. You can also have contests for best decorated house, cutest pet costumes – you name it! Then, everyone in your area can get in on the Halloween spirit, too. 🙂

How are you safely celebrating Halloween this year? What did you dress up as last year? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Guilty Pleasure: Dancing With The Stars Edition

Standard
Guilty Pleasure: Dancing With The Stars Edition

Hi! I have plenty of guilty pleasure TV shows that I am always eager to put on when I have the apartment to myself on Wednesday evenings. Johnny has band practice so when I get home from work I plop myself in front of the TV and binge to my heart’s content. We’re talking America’s Next Top Model, My 600 Lb. Life, Dr. Pimple Popper, and most recently: Dancing With The Stars.

I used to be a HUGE DWTS fan back in the day and would tune in season after season with my parents. This bonding time was officially dubbed “Middle Aged Monday” and I lived for it. Despite such fond memories of watching the show, I became uninterested after a while. I was so sick of all of the crappy reality stars and D list celebrities that the show just fell by the wayside.

However, when I learned that one of my favorite figure skaters, Johnny Weir, is competing this season, I snapped back like a rubber band and turned my free Wednesday evening into DWTS time. Because I haven’t been watching in forever and also COVID, I didn’t realize how much the show has changed.

Not only is Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews not hosting but Len Goodman is also not a judge, replaced by Derek Hough. Len will be popping in from time to time this season via video chat as it is not safe for him to travel from England at the moment. This switch is fine because I adore the Hough siblings. But if Tom and Erin aren’t hosting, then who is? Tyra Banks, of course.

Now, normally, when I hear “Tyra Banks”, I am stoked. I love her often times more than I love myself and I was ready to see her in action. Unfortunately, she was so GOTDAMN annoying I was almost ready to fast forward her talking. All she did was speak about herself, try to relate dancing to modeling, and give meaningless commentary. By the end of the episode, I had a Tom and Erin sized hole in my heart and felt completely unimpressed by this swap.

Despite not being a huge fan of the new hostess, I forgot how much fun DWTS is. The costumes, the fantastic music, excellent judges, uber talented pros, and (occasionally) enticing celebrities makes for TV heaven for me. I so enjoyed seeing stars like Johnny Weir, Nelly, AJ McLean, Skai Jackson, and Nev Schulman take the floor and all it made me want to do was take up ballroom dancing myself.

Dancing With The Stars is a perfect show for me to put on after work because I can still get chores done and make my dinner during celebrities I don’t care about. I’m already ready for them to “trim the fat” by eliminating the people who don’t have a change in hell of winning. But, for now, I am okay with sitting back and watching the spectacle. 🙂

Do you watch Dancing With The Stars? Who do you think is going to win this season? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
