Cute Cardi OOTD

Cute Cardi OOTD

Hello! Johnny and I visited an amazing vintage store called The Bomb Shelter a few weekends ago and it was an absolute blast. You can peep my TikTok for a video tour for even more from our outing! The day we went was honestly a weird one. I wouldn’t say I sleep in like crazy over the weekend and the latest I am up is usually ten o’clock. However, I ended up sleeping until one forty in the afternoon that day! In my defense, I was coming off of a long week where I was feeling pretty crummy thanks to an ugh bug from my nieces. I guess I was more worn out than I thought because I felt like I woke up in a new year! Because I slept in till an ungodly hour, I needed to get ready quickly and put together a simple fall OOTD perfect for running errands and bopping around town. Check it out:

^^^ In case you couldn’t tell by the lack of pictures, I hated a majority of them lol. It was just one of those days!

Cardigan: American Eagle Outfitters, TJMaxx

Tank Top: Rachel Zoe, TJMaxx

Skinny Jeans: 1822 Denim, TJMaxx

Wedge Loafers: Steve Madden, Walmart

Heart Earrings: SugarFix By BaubleBar, Target

Fall fashion really speaks to me because it can be as elaborate or simple as you please and still look put together. You could elevate your look with cold weather accessories or throw on a cardigan and go. Obviously, I chose the latter! I am a huge fan of knitwear and just love the feeling of being snuggled up in something cozy. Currently in Ohio, the weather is in the eighties which I am so not there for. When I wore this look, it was actually quite chilly and I couldn’t wait to browse in my cardigan department after being separated for so long.

To keep things quick and cohesive, I went with a darling cardi by American Eagle Outfitters with a flash of red and white stripes. I purchased this almost a decade ago at TJMaxx and it costed a whopping thirteen dollars. Despite it being eight years old, it still looks brand new! I love the collegiate vibes and it was just right paired with a tighter fitting tank underneath and skinny jeans. It reminded me of outfits that I would wear when I was in college and always had to put together a little something something when I was on campus. Such a nice blast of nostalgia!

To wrap up this look, it was time for shoes and accessories. For shoes, I went for a super rad pair of wedge loafers by Steve Madden. I got these from Walmart and they were only twenty bucks which I thought was a total steal. They fit the color palette I was working with while providing a pop of color and the loafer style further enhanced the college cool aesthetic. These loafers are comfy AF and are probably the lowest heel of shoes that I own – it took me a minute to get used to the minuscule rise in elevation! To complete my fit, I put on a pair of dangly heart earrings to add some length to my neck as it was the only open real estate available. With that, I was ready for a shopping trip to The Bomb Shelter!

It has felt like summer in Ohio as of late and I have had to resort to wearing shorts and tees again. Can I have fall weather now for more OOTD fun or?!

What is your favorite cold weather accessory? Have you updated your wardrobe for cold weather? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

“New” Vintage Jewelry

“New” Vintage Jewelry

Howdy! Yesterday you read about a fantastic weekend shopping trip Johnny and I took to one of the coolest stores I have ever been to, The Bomb Shelter. It was my first time going but certainly won’t be my last and I would LOVE to do a content shoot with all of their amazing retro kitchen settings. There were a few that really spoke to me and it would be such fun to put together a vintage chic look. Of course, I would accessorize with one of the pieces of jewelry that I just couldn’t say no to. I got both of these fab “new” necklaces for under twenty bucks which was a total score. Check it out:

After our stroll through the huge property that is The Bomb Shelter, it was time to check out the handful of records and gifts that Johnny selected. As luck would have it, the cash wrap was also where the jewelry was displayed and I obviously had to see what that was all about. As a heavily tattooed gal, I haven’t worn a lot of jewelry as of late because I like to let my ink do the talking in summer OOTDs. However, when fall rolls around is when I can break out my expansive jewelry collection again to add a pop to my looks when my tattoos are fully covered. Nothing transforms a chunky sweater or cardigan better than a statement necklace!

With fall fits on my mind, I wanted to find a little treat for myself to wear and went through the jewelry on display with a fine toothed comb. A lot of the jewelry at The Bomb Shelter was more on the costume side and that is not my style at all. However, a standing display housed more classic necklaces and that is what I gravitated to. The first thing that caught my eye was the simple wooden heart on a collar length chain. Hearts always remind me of my mom and I like to wear them as often as possible. The wood finish made me think of an acorn as well as the retro wooden paneling in my apartment and it was an instant yes. Granted, it was impossible for me to put on with my talons and kind of difficult for Johnny too but that’s show biz, baby, and he got it eventually lol. Great success!

My next purchase was a toss up as there were several necklaces that I liked but I didn’t want to go hog wild on accessories. I exercised self control, gave myself a limit of one more, and decided on the mid length necklace with chain tassels. I loved the burnt gold hue and the overall design but what really spoke to me was the chain. Yes, it was nice to be able to slip it over my head but that is beside the point. The chain of this necklace was delightfully reminiscent of that of a locket from my grandma that was home to a picture of her and my grandpa. It was perfect and I think I ended up with the two best pieces of jewelry on display. ❤

As the weather cools down, I can’t wait to begin fully accessorizing OOTDs again and I have a great place to start with my new old necklaces from The Bomb Shelter!

Do you have any vintage clothing or accessories? Where do you like to shop for retro finds? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Selecting The Perfect Wedding Ring

Selecting The Perfect Wedding Ring

Your wedding ring is one of the most meaningful pieces of jewelry you’ll ever own. It’s not just a symbol of love and commitment, but it’s also something that becomes part of your look every single day. This is why choosing the right wedding ring is so important. It doesn’t matter whether you’re drawn to something modern or something timeless. Your ring should reflect both your personal style as well as your relationship. But no matter what you pick, the ring you choose will play a special role in your life and here’s why finding the right one truly matters:

Unlike your wedding dress or your suit which is worn just for a day, your wedding ring is something you’re going to wear every single day. This makes it one of the most personal style choices you’ll ever make. Trends like baguette wedding bands offer a fresh take on tradition, combining vintage elegance with modern minimalism. They have geometric cuts and clean silhouettes which give them a contemporary edge while still feeling classic. Whether one solo or paired with an engagement ring, they add a touch of sparkle that feels subtle and yet intentional.

Beyond the aesthetics, your wedding ring holds deep emotional value. It’s a physical representation of your commitment and your love. Many couples choose designs or custom details that hold personal meaning, from engraved messaging to birthstones or unique settings. When you take the time to find the right ring together, it becomes so much more than just a piece of jewelry, but it becomes a symbol of the promises that you’ve made and the journey that you’re beginning together.

The perfect ring is not just about looks, it has to work for your lifestyle too. Your ring should be designed to fit seamlessly into your daily routine. You need to choose something that’s appealing as an active wearer. A ring that has a low profile setting and smooth, clean lines is not just beautiful, but it’s practical. This makes it a great option for those who want a bit of glamour without sacrificing their comfort.

Your wedding ring is likely going to be one of the few accessories that remains constant throughout your life. It’s with you during milestones, quiet moments, celebrations and challenges, and over time, it becomes enmeshed in your story. It’s worth investing the time and thought into choosing a ring that resonates with you, something you’ll love just as much in thirty years as you do right now.

No matter the type of wedding band that you pick, the right ring will be a reflection of your love, your style, and your life. Pick something with care, wear it with pride, and let it tell your story every day!

Pool Party

Pool Party

Hello! Swimming is easily the best summer activity and, unfortunately, I can’t tell you the last time I actually went swimming. I’m not talking the wading and treading water like I normally do but swimming for real. My hair has not been my natural color since my mid teens (I honestly have no idea what my natural color is at this point lol) and swimming + dyed hair is a recipe for disaster. Because I refuse to sully my funky colored tresses, getting my front and back stroke on is just impossible. However, I was determined to go swimming with my nieces and nephew when we went on a mini family vaca to Idlewild Park and SoakZone a few weeks ago. Our hotel had a pool and the water park looked like a blast and I wasn’t going to let anything stand in my way – my beloved freshly dyed hair included.

At the time, I had what I thought was a genius idea: Get a swim cap. My hair would be safely tucked away and despite a swim cap being the least cute accessory I can think of, at least I could swim. As soon as we got to the hotel after a day at the park, I made a beeline to the bathroom to get in my swimsuit, put on my cap, and hit the pool. Listen, I have NO idea how swimming enthusiasts get their caps on with ease because my experience was about a bitch lol. My bright purple cap was skin tight and I had to enlist the help of my sister to get it on and tuck away any loose strands. After wrestling with the cap for what felt like an eternity, it was time to put my idea to the test.

As soon as I got in the pool, I made use of the countless swimming lessons of my youth and it was absolutely delicious. I was doing laps with different strokes like nobody’s business and it felt SO good to be fully immersed in the cool water after a long day in the heat. I swam for a solid half hour or so solo and then went back into the hotel to gather the littles and swim altogether. I also couldn’t wait to see how my handiwork with the swim cap paid off. Let’s just say that it didn’t lol.

When I took my cap off, my hair was drenched. Not just a little damp but soaking wet. My hair was bleeding red, orange, and blue profusely and I all but destroyed several hotel towels. I had no idea where I went wrong. Maybe I wasn’t wearing the swim cap the right way? So, I gave it a Google and learned the hard way that swim caps are not meant to keep your hair from getting wet, it’s all about the aerodynamics. SMH this would have been a good thing to research beforehand! Blessedly, my hair didn’t turn into any weird colors but that was besides the point – it was still wet! -_-

My master plan had failed and I genuinely didn’t know what I was going to do at the water park the next day. Then, a little package of silver caught my eye in the bathroom and I saw that it was a shower cap. Was it going to work? No clue. But, it was my only option of protecting my hair and I knew it couldn’t hurt to try. At the water park, I changed into my suit once again and put the shower cap on too. It was kind of funny because I was getting compliments on my hair left and right and it was like everyone knew damn well why the cap was on which I really appreciated. 😀

I am pleased to report that my shower cap didn’t falter during my time in the wave pool, lazy river, and getting splashed by my littles in the Little Squirts section. It was a GREAT SUCCESS, for sure, but I am not convinced that a shower cap would help my hair during actual swimming and I’m too nervous to do a test run. So, I guess the point of this long winded story is that if you know of anything you can wear to keep your hair dry while swimming, let a Lil Red know!

What is your favorite summer activity? How do you protect your hair when swimming? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Maxi Dress, Max Style OOTD

Maxi Dress, Max Style OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! After getting my hair done, I could not wait to shoot ALL the content and was so excited to break out one of my favorite recent purchases: A gorgeous Max Studio maxi dress that I tried on a whim during an impromptu TJMaxx trip with my mom. As a short queen, maxi dresses are either a hit or a miss. There is no in between whatsoever so the dress you are about to see was a total toss up. You have no idea how happy I was when this pretty little number not only worked but elevated me to feeling myself status! Check it out:

Maxi Dress: Max Studio, TJMaxx

Platforms: Free People, TJMaxx

Earrings: Sincerely Jules, TJMaxx

Maxi dresses are such a magical summer staple. They provide the most wonderful movement, are lightweight, and incorporate fash-ion into a season when basic essentials reign supreme. This Max Studio dress is, easily, the best maxi dress I have ever owned. The pattern is bold and bright, the ruffle sleeves and tiered ruffle skirt make me want to dance, and that rouched waistline provides an hourglass silhouette to keep me from drowning in fabric. From top to bottom, this dress is IT. The only thing it requires are accessories that enhance because this dress does all of the talking.

With no need for anything else in the wardrobe department, the remainder of this look was simply shoes and accessories. Normally, I like to get funky with my shoe choices but this was not the dress to do so with. With the name of the game being enhancing the maxi dress, there was only one obvious option in my shoe department: My Free People platforms with basically the same color of red as the flowers in the dress for the straps and a buttery caramel heel. These heels gave me extra length to keep the dress from dragging and the colors I needed to prevent this look from feeling cluttered.

Last but not least was accessories. As the pattern of the dress was an accessory in itself, I only wanted to wear earrings. Rather than keep it simple, I went for a pair with some flashy sparkle to extenuate my neck. Outside of my arms, my neck was the only open real estate and it was important to draw attention to it to create the illusion of length. I put on one of my most beloved pairs: A dangly, tier diamond shape with crystal sparkles that my sweet niece got me for my birthday. They have the most delicious movement that danced, just like the dress. With that, I was ready to show off my new duds AND my new do!

This Maxi Dress, Max Style OOTD was so simple in its styling but screamed “look at me”. It is one of my favorite OOTDs of recent memory and I am so in love with my maxi dress! ❤

What is your favorite style of dress to wear? Did you get any wardrobe updates this summer? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Feeling Lucky

Feeling Lucky

Hello! At the beginning of April, I was in need of some new sunglasses and bought two new pairs at TJMaxx. I was especially partial to the pair by Lucky Brand because it is one of my favorite brands and the sunglasses fit me to the T. In fact, I loved them so much that I almost considered buying two pairs of them. I wore those babies everywhere and I just felt so cool in them! Because I wore them everywhere, it’s no surprise that they accompanied me to the Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson concert. It was one of the craziest nights of my life and I ended up losing my beloved pair of Lucky Brand sunnies in the mix. I was absolutely devastated. I went from wearing them every day to not having them at all and I was kicking myself in the butt for not buying that back up pair.

I was feeling fairly confident that if I went to TJMaxx, they would not have another pair of my beloved Luckies. It had been well over two months since the initial purchase so why would they? However, I just had to see for myself so I made a pit stop to the happiest place on Earth. Rather than browse through the store, I made a beeline to the sunglasses department and began scouring the shelves. I started at the left hand side, looked through the rows from top to bottom, and was seeing nothing. I continued the hunt to be one thousand percent sure and, as luck would have it, one pair of Lucky frames remained at the very end of the display. I couldn’t believe my good fortune and snatched them up!

Had there been more pairs of these sunglasses, I would have bought the lot of them. Sunglasses can get broken or lost so easily and I have experienced both firsthand. So the moral of the story is: There is no shame in buying back ups of anything you really love. It could be a great pair of ballet flats, your favorite T-shirt in different colors, and yes – sunglasses too. I learned my lesson when my favorite pair of sunglasses I have ever owned almost got away from me and I am not making that same mistake twice!

The fashion gods were truly smiling upon me when they returned my Lucky frames to their rightful owner. I was feeling so lucky I should have played the lottery! 😀

Do you buy back ups of anything in your wardrobe? Have you ever lost a favorite fashion item? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Country Cutie OOTD

Country Cutie OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! Johnny and I have a spectacular summer concert series lined up and this look was for Outlaw Fest to see Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan at Blossom Music Center. We went to this show in the middle of a full fledged heat wave here in Ohio so I had to make some changes to my original plan which was to wear a Western button down of Johnny’s. Instead, I went with an itty bitty brand new top and shorts to keep me cool and rockin’ all night long. Take a look:

Crochet Crop Top: Bozzolo, TJMaxx

Jean Shorts: American Eagle Outfitters

Heeled Boots: These were purchased forever ago from Target

Sunglasses and Cross Earrings: Lucky Brand, TJMaxx

The bracelet ring was purchased forever ago from Claire’s

Although I had to swap out shirts to accommodate the weather, this was no problem because I had a back up in mind: My new crochet crop top by Bozzolo. I got this cute crop a few days before the concert during an impromptu TJs trip with my mom and it truly couldn’t have happened at a better time! This crop is oh so sweet and I love the creamy color and the buttons down the front. It also provided beaucoup ventilation which was especially appreciated while being in a sea of people in ninety degree weather. Not only did this top keep me comfortable weather wise but I just feel so comfortable in it in general. The thick tank straps are exactly what I like to keep my bra straps concealed so I didn’t have to worry about them playing peek a boo all night!

Next on the agenda was shorts and I went with a darling pair of blue jean shorts from American Eagle Outfitters. As always, their shorts are the best and I live in them all summer. I couldn’t imagine wearing anything other than classic blue jean shorts to a country show. This pair is pure Americana, Girl Next Door perfection. I like that they are short but not too short and they provided the leg length I needed to make the tall boots I wanted to wear work.

Shoes and accessories were all that was needed to wrap up this look and that was easy peasy. When we got tickets to Outlaw Fest, I already knew I wanted to wear my heeled boots from Target. They are as old as dirt but they still look great! They are a fun twist on a classic cowboy boot and I love being able to put a Lil Red spin on staple items. How fabulous is that sunset coloring and big ol’ buckles?! For accessories, I wanted to drive the Western aesthetic home with turquoise. I put on a pair of turquoise dangly cross earrings as well as a huge turquoise cross ring that connects to a bracelet and I was ready to go!

Outlaw Fest was such an amazing time from start to finish. I adored this OOTD and felt like a boot scootin’ star all night!

What are some of your summer wardrobe staples? Are you going to any concerts this summer? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Super Sweet Birthday Gifts

Super Sweet Birthday Gifts

Hello!! My birthday was on June 7th and I have been having the best time celebrating! This past week, I enjoyed two more b-day extravaganzas: A delicious family lunch and a sleepover with my two darling nieces. Since last year, my eldest niece has decided that a slumber party is a perfect birthday gift and it has become our tradition. This was also the first time that her younger sister has joined the crafting/movies/ice cream sundae jamboree and we all had a blast. It was exhausting, but a hoot! As soon as my nieces arrived for our party, they came barreling in with the sweetest prezzies for their favorite aunt. Check it out:

For my big day, I was presented with the most gorgeous wall art and earrings I have ever seen. They were already amazing gifts, but what really took the cake was that my oldest niece helped select the embroidery and picked out the earrings all by herself. Like the slumber party, she thought they were “perfect” for TT and she was so right! Anytime the girls have something just for me is special and I was so touched that my niece wanted to have a hand in shopping for my gifts. It turned a gesture that was lovely to begin with into something that I am always going to treasure.

Can we talk about how pretty these two prezzies are?! Johnny and I have an extensive collection of wall art and I am especially partial to anything embroidered. In fact, if I saw the wall art I was gifted with during a shopping trip, I would have definitely bought it! I love the thick stitches of the flowers and greenery and the huge, over the top gold frame. I can’t wait for Johnny to find an empty space to hang it up! And, of course, we can’t forget the birthday bling with the earrings. This dazzling dangly pair has so much movement, personality, and all of the glitz and glam to ring in my thirty-first year. I was beyond excited to wear them to my family lunch and my niece was just as proud to see them displayed as I was to wear them! ❤

I am the luckiest gal in the world for having the best party with my nieces, which would have been a gift enough. I feel so totally and completely spoiled!

Who is your favorite person to shop for? Do you have any celebrations coming up? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Birthday Partay OOTD

Birthday Partay OOTD

Hello!! June first was my sweet Johnny’s birthday and we had a little get together at chez nous to celebrate. It was nothing major, just a few friends but it was oh so much fun! It was also delightful to have one of our dear friends who officiated our wedding and his fiance join us. For such a monumental occasion, we just had to show out in our birthday best to get our partay on. Who am I kidding, for every occasion, we always show out! Take a look and let’s discuss:

Lipstick Kiss Cami: A New Day, Target

Coated Skinny Jeans: Seven Jeans, TJMaxx

Speech Bubble Heels: LFL, TJMaxx

Bracelet: Allsaints, TJMaxx

I think the earrings are from Target!!

It has been getting hot, hot, hot in good ol’ Akron, Ohio and TMI but I had finally shaved my armpits lol. So, I started building this outfit by browsing in the cami department. Hey, I just had to show off those silky smooth pits! My eyes landed on the adorable lipstick kiss cami that I purchased at Target for mine and Johnny’s Valentine’s Day date this year. While this pattern might be traditional for V-Day, that doesn’t mean it can’t be worn literally whenever I want and I love this top. It fits like a glove, has a gorgeous sheen, and is sexy without me feeling like it’s too much. With this little number as the focal point, the rest of the outfit built itself from there.

For jeans, I decided to go for a fantastic pair of coated skinnies by Seven Jeans. These pantaloons are my pride and joy and feature the slightest snakeskin pattern. However, it is so minimal that it can be worn with another pattern no harm no foul. Of course, I chose these jeans because they are the freaking coolest, but it was primarily for the sheen from the coating. Because the cami had a similar motif, they worked in tandem rather than clashed against each other. Remember, you can always pair two shiny pieces together and they are going to work especially well if the base color is the same!

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. For a pop of pure fun, I went with my word bubble heels by LFL with the bold statement of “Who Cares!”. And, the answer is: I most certainly don’t! These provided a sassy pop of red toenail polish to tie the look together from head to toe. I had plenty of open real estate for jewelry but I didn’t want to overdo it as I was already working with sheen on sheen on sheen. I put on one of my favorite bracelets by Allsaints as well as a pair of dangly black teardrop gem earrings. With that, I was ready to get my partay on with all of my favorite people!

Johnny and I were looking our best and had the best time for his birthday. If you’re going to celebrate, you have to do it in style! ❤

What have you celebrated recently? Have you done any summer clothes shopping? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Black & White OOTD

Black & White OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! It has been a minute since my last OOTD post but your girl is back at it after a little hiatus and this Sunday was the perfect opportunity to do so. I had the best day with Johnny, our bestie Cliff, and my birthday brother going mini golfing and out to dinner. It was a bit chilly out so I wanted something warmer and comfy while I got my putt putt on and put together this fit in a Black & White motif. Check it out and stay tuned for more from this shoot and the Blooper Reel later this week!

Flannel: Miami, Francesca’s

Crop Top: Been Trill, PacSun

Skinny Jeans: 1822 Denim, TJMaxx

Heeled Combat Boots: Forever 21

Panama Hat: Gypsy Warrior, PacSun

As I began planning my outfit, the first order of business was determining what to wear for the weather. It wasn’t cold enough for a jacket or sweater but it wasn’t warm enough for just a long sleeved shirt. So, I turned to my trusty flannels. I am a huge flannel fan and they are just right for days like Sunday. They have the warmth factor, yes, but they also can be taken off and still look cute wrapped around the waist if the sun comes out. I decided to go with one of my favorite flannels from Francesca’s because I love it, of course, but also for convenience! I have So. Much. black and white clothing that the outfit essentially built itself based on the flannel’s palette.

For under the flannel, I went with a crop top by Been Trill that is old as the hills. This was bought way back when I worked at PacSun! But, hey, it still looks great and I am all about the fit of the top. While it is cropped, it’s not super short or tight so it was exactly what I needed to swing comfortably for a day on the putt putting greens. Next up was black skinny jeans, obvi, and I am pleased to report that my newest addition to the black skinny jeans collection is still looking crispy AF. There is nothing better!

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. I chose a great pair of stark white heeled combat boots from Forever 21 and I just love how they pop. The crispy black skinnies against them was a match made in heaven! As my hair wasn’t behaving, I popped on a Panama hat by Gypsy Warrior and I’m actually glad my hair didn’t want to work with me. Simply adding a hat elevated basic pieces into something special! Last but not least, I put on a pair of long dangly black cross earrings to accentuate my neckline and I was ready for a mini golf adventure!

This Black & White OOTD was ideal for an out and about day and I loved how it turned out. Because, yes, I do have to show out even at mini golf! 😀

What is your favorite outdoor activity? What do you like to wear for an out and about day? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
