BTW…my nail tech is better than yours. Yeah, I said it and I have the most fabulous story to back it up! SO, last night as I was pulling up my jeans, one of my talon acrylics broke. (I guess I’d rather break a nail while pulling my skinnies up than ripping my pants! Ha!) Naturally, this travesty happened five minutes before the salon I go to closed up for the day. I had plans yesterday night and I was in a freaking out frenzy because I love showing my talons off. So I call Vinny, my beloved nail tech to tell him the bad news, and it turns out he’s already closed up shop and was paused at a red light on his way home. But bless his soul, my boo turned around, opened up the salon just for me, and told me to come over so he can patch up my nail. Such. A. Doll. For over an hour, Vinny fixed my broken acrylic, sharpened my talons, and made my nails look brand spankin new. We gabbed and laughed and swore as loud as we wanted while we were talking because it was just us in the entire salon! Honestly, hanging out with Vinny and being pampered for just that little bit was better than the plans I had that followed. I felt so overwhelmed with adoration for my dear friend. Like seriously? He could have told me that he wanted to go home and that he’d take care of it first thing tomorrow, but he TURNED HIS CAR AROUND and came to my rescue. He’s my hero. It felt so cool to be in the salon after hours – I got the VIP treatment! Vinny is amazing at making me feel like a princess/celebrity/diva. AND for a birthday treat for my twenty-first birthday in June, he told me that my girlfriends and I could hang out at the salon after hours for some pampering and cocktails! I’m so excited! It’s going to be perfect…an evening of relaxation followed by a night of white girl wastedness at the bars HOLLA! Anyways, this is just a quick little post to let the world know that I love and appreciate my darling Vinny more than words can explain…so now you know! 🙂 #teamvinny #pronails

A Lucky Birthday Gift

A Lucky Birthday Gift

Hey gang and TGIF! Today is a fabulous day not only because it’s Friday but because I’m FINALLY feeling better from my god awful flu! Hurray! So April is a fun month because my dad and my sister’s birthdays are super close together. My dad’s birthday falls on the sixth while Kristen’s comes two days after on the eighth. Yesterday I went birthday shopping for my dad at Lowe’s and because of a few recent unlucky incidents that my poor papa had to go through, I knew exactly what to get him!

Two years. Three instances of getting rear ended while driving. Those sentences basically sum up my dad’s unlucky spell when it comes to cruising around good ol’ Akron, Ohio. Unfortunately his third accident happened a week or so ago by some moron running into him on a highway exit ramp. The thing about the entire situation is, that if it wasn’t so goddamn sad and annoying, it would almost be laughable. Like really? Three rear ends in two years? (Every party involved was unharmed every time though, which is all that really matters) That’s bad luck if I’ve ever heard it! So once my dad came home with his busted up car and bad news, I had a stroke of genius as to what to get him for his birthday. My dad loves tending to his many plants indoors and his beautiful outdoor garden in our spacious backyard. Flowers, potted plants, vegetables, herbs, shade gardens – my dad does it all. With that in mind, I looked up different plants that symbolize good luck and learned that bamboo is one of them. I was really happy to find that out because my dad doesn’t have any bamboo plants in his vast collection. After I got the plant part taken care of, I looked into animals that symbolize good luck so I could find a nice ceramic one to put in the garden outside or indoors with the potted plants. I had my heart set on finding a ceramic turtle or frog which I learned was lucky, but there were none at Lowe’s that really screamed out “DAD” at me. While strolling through the gardening aisles I stopped at the wind chime section and found a really beautiful brass one sporting a sunflower and a blue bird. In my good luck research I learned that birds were considered lucky, so I hit the jackpot! My dad loves wind chimes so this will be a great addition to hang on our porch! Here’s a few pics of my birthday purchases for my pops!

bday1bday2

So pretty!! Hopefully I can keep the bamboo alive for another three days until I can leave them in my dad’s very capable hands! 😉 This is super pathetic, but I think I already put too much water into their little containers. FML. Anywho, I’m really excited to give my dad these gifts because I know for a fact he’s going to love them! And he’ll get a reminder of how much I love him every time he cares for his new lucky bamboo. A nice bonus from these “good luck” gifts is if they actually brought some good luck to my old man…god knows he needs it!!!

I hope all of you guys have a fantastic Friday and an even better weekend! Until then, I NEED YOUR HELP! I accidentally got an eyeliner stain on a white 100% polyester shirt and I was wondering if any of you had any tips on how to get it out…THIS IS URGENT!!! If you have any methods that you swear by, PLEASE leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hump Day Update: STILL Sick Edition -___-

Hump Day Update: STILL Sick Edition -___-

Howdy gang and happy Hump Day! Guess what?! I’m STILL sick. Fml, fml, FML. I’m going on day four of misery so let me bring you up to speed with what’s been going on these past few days in the wonderful (and by wonderful I mean god awful) world of Lil Red.

Monday: In continuation of my last post, I went to the doctor on Monday afternoon and I was diagnosed with the flu. I was actually pretty disappointed about that. I wish that I had strep so I could get some antibiotics to cure it and be on my merry way. Unfortunately with the flu there’s not much you can do other than wait it out. The only good thing about going to see the doctor, was that the doc seeing me was a TOTAL babe. My only regret is that I didn’t look better for him. Quite frankly, he’s lucky I even put a bra on to go see him – but that’s neither here nor there. Anyways, SHAZAM and hubba hubba, because Mr. Doctor was looking mighty fine! I felt like death, but his staggering good looks gave me a glimmer of hope that everything would be okay. #hotfordoctor SO YEAH, Monday I was miserable and yada yada yada. I had really bad night sweats Monday night. I mean really bad. Like a body shaped pool of sweat on my sheets bad. Like my sleep shirt and skin were drenched in sweat bad. It was wicked gross, but I felt really skinny when I woke up so that was a plus I suppose. Ha!

Tuesday: Tuesday morning is when I have to be in Cleveland for class, and of course that didn’t happen which I was actually really mad about. I never thought I’d live to see the day that I was mad about not being able to go to school! I set my alarm to wake me up so I had time to get ready just in case by some miracle I felt better, but it took one minute of me being awake to decide to go back to bed. Tuesday I didn’t do much other than lay in bed and watch TV. (The 19 Kids and Counting wedding episode for Jessa was on and it was so cute!!) I was extremely achey all day and if I was out of bed for too long I started feeling dizzy. My chest has been hurting pretty bad these past few days as well from constantly coughing up a storm. I slept okay on Tuesday night, only waking up twice to cough for fifteen minutes straight and then pass out again. Like Monday night, I had really bad night sweats again. Lol it grosses me out because I’m the farthest thing away from a sweaty person and my sicko night sweats have been the most I’ve sweat in my entire life. Because girls don’t sweat, they glisten. 😉

dandy!

Hump Day: Still sick. Still miserable. What else is new? I’m hoping that today is the day I can rest up and kick this flu in the ass for good because I NEED to get to school tomorrow. I have a quiz in math to take and I’d prefer to be somewhat healthy when I’m driving to Cleveland and sitting in a classroom for two hours. Ugh. -___-

Well guys I’m off to get some homework done and some Netflix watched so I will talk to you all later! Hopefully on the next post I’ll be a healthy woman! What are some home remedies for the flu that you swear by? I’m up for any suggestions, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -A still sick and still miserable Sarah

PS: Welcome to April! What April Fools pranks are you pulling today??

Monday Update: Sick Edition :(

Monday Update: Sick Edition :(

Whatup guys and happy Monday! Unfortunately, it’s not a very happy day for me because I’ve been sick all weekend and am just as sick today. 😦 Here’s a brief outline of how my sickness escalated from Friday until now:

Friday: My throat was sort of scratchy, but it was nothing I couldn’t handle.

Saturday: My “sort of” scratchy throat turned into a full on sore throat with a nice wet cough to go along with it. My nose was sort of stuffy but I could still breathe out of it. I had a lot of trouble sleeping on Saturday night as well. I woke up multiple times in the night and had difficulty falling asleep afterwards.

Sunday: May god have mercy on my soul. Sunday was a big pain in my ass. Everything that was wrong from my body aches, to my cough, sore throat, and stuffy nose seemed to intensify by a million. My cough was frequent and it hurt my whole body and my nose felt completely clogged up which turned me into a mouth breather. Sexy 😉 I had an even more difficult time sleeping Sunday night because all of my symptoms were so much worse. It felt impossible to get comfortable enough to sleep again every time I woke up. Despite these difficulties I was able to sleep in longer on Monday morning.

Monday: What do you know? I’m still sick. -_- I slept more last night than I did on any other weekend day, but I still feel really tired. My nose is starting to run instead of just being stuffy, and it’s SO difficult trying to blow your nose with five nose piercings. I feel hungry but I have absolutely no appetite. Nothing but ice cream sounds good right now, and naturally there’s no ice cream in the house. Fml. I’m so achey and my throat burns every time I cough. The only thing that makes my sore throat feel better is when I’m drinking something really cold. Once my dad gets home from work I think I’ll be going to the doctors and then hopefully to Wendy’s afterwards to get a Frosty. Yummmmm

I really hope that I can get rid of most of my nasty symptoms today with some R&R, vitamins, and medicine because I have too much to do to be sick any longer. I absolutely need to go to my math class tomorrow morning because we’re going to be reviewing for a quiz on Thursday and I really need the additional practice with my teacher. I had to cancel two important plans today as well which I’m pretty pissed about. I promised my best friend Kate that I would go to her focus group she was holding for her marketing class to help spice things up. AND there was gonna be free Papa John’s pizza, which I was really looking forward to. Lol, nothing motivates me more than food! I was also supposed to have an American Horror Story night with my stud, but unfortunately neither of these are going to happen because I can barely get out of bed. Of course I’m sick when I actually have plans. -___- The only good thing about today is that there’s a new episode of The Following on tonight. Thank god, because I need something to look forward to today while I’m moping around on my death bed.

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Does anyone have any home remedies that they swear by to help ease cold and flu symptoms? I’ll take any help I can get, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -A very sick, miserable, mopey, whiney, achey Sarah 😦

Crocker Park Fun!!

Hello all and happy Saturday! I had an absolutely fabulous time shopping at Crocker Park yesterday with my lovely Kate! We braved the spring time snow in Ohio to get our shop on and it was so worth it. And great news: I found a mustard yellow shirt that I’m in love with!! H&M has the cutest new spring and summer clothes out right now, and taking advantage of my twenty percent off coupon resulted in three to die for new pieces for under sixty dollars! Take a look: #ballinonabudget

1

Embellished mid length blouse: Yeeeee! I absolutely ADORE this shirt. In fact, it’s my favorite thing that I got yesterday. I’m really excited about this piece because I don’t own anything pure white and I don’t own anything like this shirt in general. I usually shy away from button down tops and blouses because I find them unflattering on me. I’m also not a huge fan of “flowy” clothing because I prefer my clothes to be more form fitting. However, this sassy little blouse is too perfect for words. The embellished collar and mid length cut of the shirt gives it the rock n’ roll edge that I always search for in my clothing. The blouse hits right at the waist line of my black skinnies which I love because it shows some skin while you’re moving about. I love clothes that play peek a boo with my side tattoo. This semi sheer shirt is also the perfect one to show off the intentional exposed bra trend which I’m pretty hyped about too! I love this blouse so much that I plan on double checking online if H&M has it in black so I can order it as well. So clearly obsessed!

2

Faux suede skirt: Such a cute little number! I’m not the biggest skirt fan in the world, but I thought this would be a really sweet spring and summer piece that I could easily transition into my fall and winter wardrobe. I really like the cool seam details and the faux suede texture gives it a fun unexpected twist. I’m really excited to pair this with my new embellished blouse, flannels, or just a plain old graphic tee to help dress it up. The deep rusty color of this skirt screams fall to me, so it will be fun to pair this bad boy with knee high socks and a blazer and be on my merry way!

3

Mustard yellow top: Woohoo! I love this shirt!!!! I got this little linen beauty for seven bucks on the clearance rack, and it was the best money I’ve spent in a long time! I love the way that the mustard yellow color pops against my signature red hair, red lip, and pasty pale skin. Seriously, the color is everything I imagined it being AND MORE! I have so many outfit ideas for this simple top already, from pairing it with my tribal print body con skirt to my navy blue Audrey Hepburn-esque trouser pants this top is going to become one of my go to pieces…I can feel it! I have some really gorgeous Lucky Brand wooden jewelry and a stunning turquoise necklace that my brother got me from New Mexico that will go perfectly with this little baby. The possibilities are endless and I can’t wait to explore them all!

As you can see from my fab new purchases it was a very successful trip to Crocker Park! I can’t wait to incorporate all of these new pieces into my looks for many seasons to come! I couldn’t find a pair of shorts that I liked enough to buy yesterday so that’s the last thing I need to complete my spring and summer wardrobe!

I hope all of you are having a terrific weekend! If you know of any stores that sell knee high gladiator sandals OR some really good normal rise shorts please leave me a comment and let’s chat! I’ll be on the prowl for them on my next shopping trip so I’m up for any suggestions! Much love. -Sarah

PS: All of these items should be available for purchase in stores or online at http://www.hm.com! And if you sign up for their email newsletter you’ll receive a twenty percent off of one item coupon! 🙂

Heyyyy everyone and TGIF! To celebrate one of the best days of the week enjoy one of the worst songs in the world and then we’ll chat!

FRIDAY FRIDAY GETTIN DOWN ON FRIDAYYYY……oh you’re done already? I…uhh…whoops. 😉

I’ll be out of office today because I’ll be spending a lovely afternoon and evening at Crocker Park with my best ladyfriend, Kate. I’ve wrote about Crocker Park before, but if you’re unfamiliar with it, it’s a beautiful outdoor shopping mall in Cleveland. It has the absolute best stores, like H&M, Urban Outfitters, and Express. Going to Crocker Park is one of my favorite things to do in Ohio and I’m so excited because I really need to finish assembling my spring and summer wardrobe. All I really need now is some shorts but I also have my heart set on finding an awesome mustard yellow piece to add to my collection. Mustard yellow is probably one of the only colors I don’t have a piece of clothing or accessory in so I hope I find something! Preferably a blazer or light jacket – I feel like a mustard yellow outerwear item would be super cute for spring. I also wouldn’t say no to a new pair of gladiator sandals either! I would love to find a knee high pair, but I’ve been having no luck finding any in stores. I’ve seen them online before, but a shoe like that is something I would definitely need to try on before purchasing so I can make sure that it’s completely perfect. Last night I downloaded the Retailmenot app on my iPod so I could get a feel for all of the sales going on at the stores in Crocker Park. There seems to be a lot of good deals going on which is great, because you know I’m all about ballin on a budget. ALSO, if you’re an H&M fan, you can go on their website and sign up for their newsletter to receive a twenty percent off of one item coupon. I love H&M so much so if I find something there today, the twenty percent off will make it even sweeter! #ballinonabudget Today is sure to be a beautiful perfect day full of fun, fashion, and of course: treatin yoself!!

I hope all of you have a fantastic Friday and weekend! Do you have any fun plans coming up? I wanna hear all about them, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

NYX Matte Lipstick – The Best Ever!!

NYX Matte Lipstick – The Best Ever!!

Heyyyy everyone and happy Hump Day! I hope this week has been treating you well so far! Thanks to a recent trip to the grocery store with my mama and the NYX cosmetics being thirty percent off, I’ve officially found my new favorite lipstick brand. The NYX matte lipsticks are simply to die for! As you guys know, I only wear my lipstick in matte form – I hate shiny and glossy too much for words. I’ve been using the Revlon matte balms for a while, but they just haven’t been doing it for me lately, so the hunt for the perfect matte lipstick began. Unfortunately, everything I tried just wasn’t cutting it! From Covergirl to Loreal, from Maybelline to Rimmel NOTHING was good enough! All of them just felt too sticky, still looked too shiny, and the color was nowhere near as rich as I would want it to be. Luckily, on the fateful trip to the grocery store last week, I found the most perfect lipstick I could imagine. The NYX matte lipsticks are truly amazing. The color is SO rich and pure and goes on perfectly matte. The lipstick is long lasting and the consistency is creamy enough that it doesn’t dry your lips out, like some recent matte lipsticks have done to me. I initially bought three lipsticks for around four dollars each (they were originally around seven dollars each), but once I got home and tried them out I just had to get more…that’s how happy I was with them. So the following day I returned to the store and bought two more colors that I couldn’t stop thinking about. Here’s a picture and description of each new color that I added to my collection:

perfred

Perfect Red: Aside from my flaming red hair, another reason why I earned the nickname “Lil Red” was from constantly wearing red lipstick. I’ve been painting my lips red for years now, and I can’t get enough. From fire engine, to ruby, to the deepest blood red, there is something so sexy to me about a red lip. I always opt for the brighter reds, but I really like this vampy, darker shade! I’m really excited to wear this color during the fall (even though that’s forever away!), it’s the perfect autumn shade! Until then, I plan on pairing this blood red with an all black everything outfit, and strutting about like the vampire I was in a past life. (Which I’m totally convinced is true, but that’s a story for another time!)

streetcred

Street Cred: I rarely wear non-red lipstick, but I thought this medium pinky shade was so pretty!! It’s going to be such a sweet color for wearing out and about during the spring and summer time. Even in my early days of experimenting with different lipstick colors, I always shied away from the hot pinks…they just never looked quite right on me – so I was very happy to find this lovely shade of blush that I actually really like. Of course I’ll never wear this as often as my signature ruby reds, but it will be fun to change it up on occasion!

indie

Indie Flick: Not gonna lie, I was pretty ambivalent about this red orange shade, but it’s safe to say after a few days of giving it a trail run that I’m obsessed. I love how this color pops against my pasty pale skin and my hazel eyes. My favorite thing is when my eyes change to this awesome Edward Cullen-esque gold while I’m wearing this shade…the result is striking. I tried out a Maybelline lipstick one time that claimed to fall under the red orange color range, but it was so obviously orange and I was so disappointed. I’m so happy that NYX’s Indie Flick still has the red tones in it that keep this color in my comfort zone.

shocker

Shocking Pink: Fuchsia lipstick either looks really good or really bad on me. I’m not quite sure how much I like this shade yet, but we’ll see! Everything about my look for the day has to be working perfectly for me to be totally in love with a fuchsia lip. Luckily, my sister Kristen looks amazing in fuchsia lipstick (jealous!) so this color will probably be added to her makeup collection. What I do like about this shade is that it’s not quite pink. If you see it in real life and on the lips, it has a really gorgeous lavender undertone, which makes for a cool and unique color. Like I said, we’ll see – but don’t expect me to start rocking fuchsia lips on the daily any time soon!

purered

Pure Red: Ahhhhh! This one is my absolute favorite!! So sassy, so bright, so fun. NYX’s Pure Red is the perfect shade if you’re looking for a super bold “look at me” lip. I could rant and rave about this color for hours, but just trust me when I say that it’s gorgeous, perfect, striking, stunning, and literally everything that you could want if you’re looking to rock a red lip. So in love, so obsessed and absolutely NEVER going back to my original Covergirl red lipstick. Yeah…it’s that good.

To all of my lipstick lovers out there – I urge you to give NYX’s lipstick a try! Their matte colors are incredible, and even though I personally don’t like shiny lipstick, I’m sure those options are terrific as well!

What’s your favorite lipstick color to wear? What’s the most embarrassing lipstick mishap you’ve ever had? Red lipstick all over your teeth during a date? Smeared lipstick on your chin after lunch that no one told you was there? (Bastards!) I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Happy Wednesday! -Sarah

Mama’s Birthday Bash!

Last night was my mom’s annual Mexican dinner birthday bash and it was absolutely wonderful! Every year for my mom’s birthday we hit up a local Mexican restaurant, El Campesino for good food, frivolity, and hella margaritas! Here’s a few pics from the white girl wasted festivities:

mom2mom3

^^^ She’s so cute!!! (And I feel like we look super alike in these pictures, so now you know where I got my striking good looks from! ;)) El Campesino is one of our all time favorites, and we had a complete blast. The restaurant was hoppin on a Friday night, but we got seated right away which was awesome. My mom’s birthday is on Sunday, but all of the members of the family crew could go out on Friday night so we celebrated early. We ordered our food and a pitcher of margs quickly because we were so hungry, and our food arrived in less than FIVE MINUTES!! Talk about service! The most adorable thing about my mom is that she’s a total lightweight, so within one glass of margarita, she was white girl wasted. The only words that I can use to sum up my mom when she’s wasteypants are as follows: funny, sloppy, and unpredictable. We annihilated our food and threw back our margs and had a gay old time. My favorite part of the night was when my mom decided it would be funny to knock her head on my shoulder while saying “timber” in the tune of Kesha and Pitbull’s hit. My mom loves Pitbull, so this one is for her:

The celebration was so fun and will carry on to tomorrow for her actual birthday, so don’t expect to hear from me tomorrow! I love you so much mama and I hope you have a fantastic birthday! Thank you for being my best friend and the most amazing mom a gal could ask for! You’re the most beautiful lady in the whole wide world and I’m SO lucky to have you as my mommy! ❤

Fabulous Day!

Helllllooo gang and TGIF! I don’t know about you guys, but I had a fabulous Thursday!! Seriously, I haven’t had such a lovely, average day in forever so I feel the need to share it! To get you in the great day spirit, enjoy this goofy Lonely Island video and proceed to read:

I had an early start today because I had to drive to Cleveland in the morning for stupid math class. My only complaint about my morning was the fact that we were out of coffee grounds at home, so I didn’t have enough to make my usual amount. I made the coffee anyway, keeping my fingers crossed that it would still taste good…but unfortunately that didn’t happen. -__- I was basically drinking slightly bitter bath water my entire way to school, lol it was so gross. Math class was boring as usual, and I totally left class early to go get my nails done…clearly I have my priorities straight. 😉 However, once I got on the highway there was a big fat traffic jam due to road construction so I ended up getting to the salon when I would get there on a normal day without leaving early. So moral of the story: I should have just stayed in class. Ha! BUT, my beloved nail tech, Vinny did a fabulous job as usual on touching up my fierce talon nails. I opted for my usual black with a beige accent nail for a cool twist, and I’m beyond obsessed with the fresh new color combo. Take a look:

nails

^^^#pronails Ahhh, I love them so much it hurts! There’s three major things that are difficult with my talon nails:

  • Taking my contacts in and out.
  • Buttoning and unbuttoning my jeans.
  • Opening pop cans.

Despite these minor difficulties, they are so beyond worth it. So edgy, so fierce, so fun. After a trip to the salon, I had some much needed and long overdue BFF time with my sweet Lea. My darling girl and I really wanted to be crafty today, so we went to PatCatan’s for inspiration. While ambling down the aisles we came across the wooden craft supplies and thought that it would be fun to paint birdhouses. After picking out the houses we liked and some paint, we hit up Taco Bell for a quick snack and then headed back to Lea’s place to start the craftapalooza. We were so excited about this cute project that we forgot something very important at the craft store…small paint brushes. -__- All we had in our craft supply box were big brushes from our canvas art projects, and they made painting all of the sweet details on our birdhouses totally impossible. Both of our creations turned out smudgy, smeared, and nowhere near as adorable as we wanted them to be. I straight up left my house at Lea’s place and told her to just paint it black for me. Ha, I should have just done that all along! Despite our painting difficulties, we still managed to have a blast as usual! We always do, because making fun out of a miserable crafting experience is what best friends are for! #epiccraftingfail

After a sweet best friend afternoon, I had a quick get together with my neighbor and video gaming partner in crime, Vaughn. I then proceeded to finish up some math and psych homework until my brain couldn’t take it anymore. After I had had enough of homeworking (and believe me, it didn’t take long), I ended my night with watching Saw III on Netflix. I’m a scary movie junkie, and the Saw films are one of my major guilty pleasures. After I finish up this post, I’m going to start the fourth installment of the film series and hit the hay. Maybe not the best movies to watch before bed, but that’s okay!

I hope all of you had a fabulous Thursday and an even better Friday today! What are you guys up to this weekend? Any fun plans? It’s my mom’s birthday on Sunday so my family is going to go out to eat tomorrow to celebrate – it should be fun! Tell me all about your weekend plans and leave my mama some birthday love! I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Goodnight. -Sarah

Surprise! I Can Cook…Again!!

Happy Hump Day, gang! I hope you guys are all ready for some food porn, because I made a super fabulous dinner the other day! Take a look and let the drooling commence:

dinnerrr

Viola! Noodles with an Asian peanut sauce, sauteed yellow peppers and garlic, scallions, and steamed broccoli. Or as I like to call it…delicious. Peanut noodles have been my all time favorite food for years now, thanks to my mom finding the recipe in our Moosewood cookbook. (AKA our go to guide for everything vegetarian!) My mom has been making the peanut sauce recipe for quite some time and I swear it never gets old. On Monday night I was craving my favorite dish something fierce honey, so I decided to make dinner for the family. I consulted the trusty cookbook, and began to create the spicy, orgasmic concoction that is peanut sauce. Within ten minutes the sauce was ready to go. The only minor difficulty I had was the fact that we were out of cider vinegar at home so I had to consult the Google machine to learn that red wine vinegar was a sufficient substitute. Usually this dish is served with scallions and cucumbers, but we didn’t have any cucumbers either, so I had to wing it a little. While inspecting the veggie drawer in the fridge, I found a sad looking yellow pepper and a bag of ready to be steamed broccoli…jackpot! While the spaghetti noodles were boiling away, I heated up a pan with some vegetable oil for the saute. I cut up the pepper in strips and added four cloves of garlic to the mix as well. I really was hoping that we had a red pepper, but you can’t always get what you want. -_- Anyways, with my veggies sauteing, my pasta boiling, and the sauce complete it was time for multitask mode. I cleared the kitchen table, set that bitch with the most mismatched dishes you could imagine, and tossed the steam bag broccoli into the microwave. All of this was completed in between stirring my pepper and garlic combo, taste testing my pasta, and cracking open a bottle of wine! BOOM. This fifteen minute free for all of finishing all of the final preparations resulted in an amazing meal. The spaghetti was cooked to perfection, the sauce was impeccable, and the veggies added a fresh take on an old favorite. Family dinner was a great success!

Peanut noodles are a perfect dish for the vegetarians in your life or for anyone who enjoys oriental cuisine. If you’re interested in the recipe, please let me know in the comments and I’ll be sure to post it for you! It’s easy as pie to make and so super delicious!
