Fabulously Fall OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Fabulously Fall OOTD!! These past few days in Ohio have felt so gloriously fall and I have been SO there for it. In fact, I broke out my black skinny jeans for the first time since summer began the other day and it was awesome! All good things can’t last forever, however, because Mother Nature is definitely running her own blooper reel… It will be in the nineties this week. -_- Thankfully, my new hair will keep me in a fall state of mind despite the heat! Let’s take a look at some pics of me looking my absolute best:

Grace. Elegance. Poise.

My entire timeline on Facebook right now is people lamenting over summer being almost over. Myself, on the other hand, has been wishing for fall since summer began! With my new do, I feel like a Harvest Goddess and I am ready to take on the pumpkin patches, hiking trails, and eat ALL the soup. And don’t even get me started on Halloween because I have been work shopping costume ideas since last Halloween when I dressed up as Johnny lol.

There is something about fall that just hits different. While I am looking forward to the change in weather and autumnal activities – I’m sure all of you can guess what I am most excited about. If you said the fashion, then you are correct!! Fall fashion is Lil Red’s jam and I cannot wait to wrap myself in cozy sweaters, warm scarves, and jackets on jackets on jackets. Guys, I have been so sick of dressing for summer and I will be giddy when I can officially retire my shorts until next year. My Fabulously Fall OOTD gave me a little taste of my favorite season and I am beyond ready for it. Does it really have to be in the nineties this week or?

It will be fallmageddon soon on lifewithlilred and I can’t wait to share in the happiest time of the year with all of you. Here’s to crisp days, bonfires, and Halloween!

What should I dress up as for Halloween? What is fall weather like in your neck of the woods? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Fabulously Fall OOTD

Hello!!! Your girl has been feeling her damn self since getting my hair done and I couldn’t wait to show off my new do with a brand new OOTD. My freshly dyed red, yellow, and navy hair is such a lux color palette and feels so Fabulously Fall. I have been waiting for my favorite season since summer began and I wanted to create a look that welcomes fall and perfectly compliments my hair. I hate to toot my own horn, but I think I knocked it out of the park! Check it out:

image_50767873image_50770177(1)image_50750721(2)image_50774273image_50765057(1)image_50747393

Who? What? Wear?

Button Down Dress: Forever 21

Heeled Oxfords: Lulu Hun, ModCloth

The accessories are all from Target I think!

As you can see, this was a very simple OOTD to style with such a minimal amount of pieces. Sometimes, simple is best and I felt radiant in this look because it achieved my goal of complimenting my hair so well. It took me quite a while to figure out what I wanted to wear because I had originally eliminated the Forever 21 dress I was wearing as an option. I had a vague memory of washing it and it shrinking in length and after that I never wore it again. I’m glad I decided to try it on anyways because the length was fine and I think I was thinking of a different dress lol. SMH!

The Forever 21 button down dress was everything I needed to make a cohesive look between clothing and hair. With navy as the base and the floral pattern featuring deeper shades of red and yellow, it was like this dress was made for me getting my hair done! I love the way this dress fits because it’s form fitting without being tight. The bow at the waist allows for an hourglass shape and it made me feel SO confident. Some button down dresses can be really boxy and that wasn’t the case with this one in the slightest.

Next on the agenda was shoes and that was an easy choice. To keep with the theme of fall colors, I went with my plum and caramel heeled oxfords by Lulu Hun. These are my sexy librarian heels and I am so there for it! Although the shoes aren’t a perfect match to anything in the dress or my hair, they still worked because they complimented the color palette I established. They are also just right in height because anything taller would have made the dress a bit too short for my liking. Maybe it did shrink a little…

Finally, it was time for accessories to tie everything together. Since the bold floral pattern acted as an accessory in itself, I kept things simple in my selection. For earrings, I went with a pair of burnished gold dangly crosses. I thought they looked lovely against the navy in my hair! Then, I threw on a few statement rings and was ready to go. Also, how cute is that double finger feather? It’s one of my faves!

My Fabulously Fall OOTD is one of my favorite looks that I have styled in a while. I felt like an autumn goddess and I can’t wait to continue exploring rich jewel toned clothing to match my hair. Keep it posted for the blooper reel tomorrow!

What is your favorite jewel tone? Are you as excited for fall as I am? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Country Cutie OOTD! The Portage County Randolph Fair was a hoot and I am so glad that Johnny and I stepped out on a school night to attend it. It was safe to say that we were definitely not at the Punk Rock Flea Market when we got to the fair. It is also very safe to say that Johnny and I stuck out like sore thumbs. It’s not every day that your favorite vampires venture out to farmland!

I am pleased to report that our presence was very well received minus the little girl who told Johnny he looked like Michael Jackson and proceeded to scream “hee hee” lolol. Take a look at some pictures that were not very well received at all:

As I have mentioned in previous posts, people have been simply SHOOK that I have never been to a county fair before. Many a person has been curious to see if I would go to one again and to be honest, I don’t think so. Don’t get me wrong, I had a ton of fun and it was an exciting brand new experience. However, it just wasn’t my bag in the slightest. Being surrounded by animals up for auction is not my idea of a good time. Neither is being in a huge crowd with nothing much to do but eat. Lol, my favorite part was playing a carnival game with Johnny, but that only lasted for like five minutes out of our entire evening!

Regardless of if I ever visit another county fair again, I now understand why people enjoy it so much. Before, I truly didn’t get it! It is exhilarating to be among a group of people all having a blast with the food, rides, and games. It just wasn’t my kind of fun I guess? Johnny didn’t want to ride anything so we didn’t. We also didn’t want to spend an obscene amount of money on games so we only played one. Also, we were full after we ate! That pretty much eliminated every activity in one fell swoop. It’s all good, though, because it was another date night for me and Johnny in the books and that is the best thing of all!

The Portage County Randolph Fair put me far out of my comfort zone from the setting in general to my outfit. It’s always great to try something new and now we know to skip on the county fairs next summer!

How do you feel about county fairs? What is your favorite fair food? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Country Cutie OOTD

Country Cutie OOTD

Hello!!! During the work week, I rarely wear makeup or a killer outfit unless the occasion calls for it. And, I would say that a trip to the county fair definitely called for a brand new OOTD! As the saying goes, “when at the county fair” or wherever it was, and I wanted to assemble a Country Cutie OOTD. The only catch was that I own literally nothing to build an outfit with a country theme. My husband does, though! After shopping around in Johnny’s Boutique, I came up with this fun little look and I love how it turned out. Let’s discuss:

image_50450177(7)image_50452481(3)image_50429185(4)image_50456065(4)image_50436097(9)image_50727169(8)

Who? What? Wear?

Embroidered Button Down: Chute 1

Blue Jeans: Urban Pipeline (These were a hand me down to Johnny from our old downstairs neighbor!)

Army Green Wedge Heels: Guess, TJMaxx

Cigarette Earrings: Punk N Junk

Skull Tote Bag: Target (This was a gift from my mom forever ago!)

The polka dot sunglasses were also purchased from Target forever ago!

My Country Cutie OOTD was a unique experience because this is simply not my style at all. This was also the first time I wore blue jeans since grade school lol! The key to pulling off an outfit outside of your comfort zone is confidence. As I built this outfit, it was important to me to add fun touches that were my own because the base of this look is not even my clothing. This is how your favorite Punk Rock Princess turned Country Cutie for the night…

Johnny recommended his Chute 1 button down to me and I was instantly a fan. I loved the floral embroidery, pearly snap buttons, and its cool color. It looks white, but has the faintest traces of pale blue and I had never seen anything in that shade before. The original plan with this shirt was to wear it with a maxi skirt in a prairie flower pattern. I had high hopes for this, but the top just wasn’t laying well tucked into the skirt and created an unsightly bulge.

At this point in the styling process, I felt stumped because Plan A went out the window and I didn’t have a Plan B. As luck would have it, there was a pair of blue jeans laying right on top of Johnny’s laundry basket of clothes he doesn’t wear often. As luck would also have it, Johnny and I are the same pants size and I knew that we were back in business, baby. It felt SO weird putting normal jeans on because you all know I pretty much only wear black skinny jeans! I am not a huge fan of tie knot tops, but the situation called for it and I thought the button down turned crop top looked great. With the base of the outfit finally sorted, it was time for accessories.

Selecting shoes for the county fair was an easy task because of the green embroidery on the button down. My Guess wedges were the obvious choice and I thought they really tied the look together. For earrings, I already knew exactly what I wanted – my dangly cigarette pair that was purchased at the Punk Rock Flea Market. They were a huge hit at the fair and I was getting compliments left and right! The last task was a purse to swap out my British Invasion bag with and that also came easily. I chose my canvas tote with a floral cow skull and I was ready to hit the fair!

I can’t say that this is an outfit that I would wear again, but I don’t think it could have turned out better! Even though I was wearing hand me downs, I made them my own and created a Country Cutie OOTD that I was very proud of. This was also a great reminder that it’s fun to step outside of your comfort zone – you never know what you’ll come up with!

What is a style that is outside of your comfort zone? What is something that you would never wear? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Punk N Junk Earrings

New Punk N Junk Earrings

Hello!! The Punk Rock Flea Market that Johnny and I went to was freaking awesome! We were blown away by the talent of the local artists and makers peddling their wares and returned home with a bagful of goodies. The first purchase that I made at the flea market was actually from one of the first vendors that we visited called Punk N Junk. They had the most adorable earrings and I wanted all of them! But, I exercised self restraint and walked away with these two:

image_50456321(8)image_50439681(4)

These earrings actually tell a funny tale of mine and Johnny’s morning before going to the flea market. I couldn’t find my black parasol to save my own life and I was getting SO frustrated. TBH, my mental health feels like it’s hanging by a thread sometimes, which is why I am starting therapy this Wednesday. Because I am very sensitive at this current juncture, I cried a little bit about my missing parasol because everything just seems overwhelming to me. Then, Johnny found it in his car of all places and all was right with the world.

After my mini freak out, I had one of my “ecigs” AKA Emergency Cigarettes on our way to the market. Every week or so, I’ll have a real cigarette and that was definitely the time I needed one. So, when I saw the Crybaby earrings at the Punk N Junk stand, I jokingly told Johnny that was me! Then, I saw the cigarette ones and said that that was also me lol. These two earrings literally summed up the twenty minutes before we went to the event and it gave us a huge laugh. Even when Johnny or I are feeling frazzled, we always find a way to end up laughing at the end of it!

You can visit Punk N Junk’s Etsy page here and give them a follow on Instagram @punknjunkk. Thank you for the fab earrings – I love them! ❤

Who is your favorite local artist? What makes you feel better after something upsetting? Shopping always does the trick for me lol! I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Punk Rock Flea OOTD!! Attending the Punk Rock Flea Market this past weekend with Johnny was SO much fun and I’m really glad we were able to check out all of the vendors before a torrential downpour hit. I’m also really glad that Johnny and I took pictures before we hit the market and not after! This week, you can check out all of our purchases from the flea market as well as a brand new Lil Red’s Book Club. For now, let’s check out some OOTD yikes shots:

Is there still a misconception that the punk rock/emo/alt crowd are scary people? Lol, I’m sure some people still think so and I really wish they could have attended the flea market! Johnny and I were laughing at this on the way home because the Punk Rock Flea Market was seriously just a gigantic love fest. I have never gave or received so many compliments in my life and everyone seemed to be basking in the glory of their fellow market goers’ aesthetics.

The Punk Rock Flea Market featured so many talented local artists and fashion that served. And, I’m pleased to say that people thought Johnny and I were werking it. We got stopped frequently by people asking to take our pictures and I caught myself wondering if this is what a celebrity feels like! My husband and I were truly with our people and it was fun to see lots of old friends and make new ones too. It was a GREAT SUCCESS of a date day, indeed. 🙂

Keep it locked this week on lifewithlilred for all of the punk rock vibes and amazing oddities that we acquired!

How would you describe your personal style? What is your favorite flea market or vendor sale to attend? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello!! This past Saturday, Johnny and I had a fantastic date day. We attended the Punk Rock Flea Market at Lock 3 in downtown Akron and it was an absolute blast. Sadly, the event got rained out, but we made our rounds throughout the vendors and got back to our car just in the knick of time! We got so many cool goodies from amazing local artists, which you can see throughout this week. Today, let’s check out my OOTD for this neat event:

image_50437377(1)image_50729985(2)image_50460929(2)image_50737921(9)image_50737665(6)image_50741505(1)image_50450433(3)

Who? What? Wear?

Tank Top: Rachel Zoe, TJMaxx

Skort: Almost Famous, TJMaxx

Bat Wing Platforms: Sugar Thrillz, Dolls Kill

Parasol: This was a Christmas gift from Amazon

Union Jack Purse: Charming Charlie’s

Sunglasses: Martha Stewart, TJMaxx

Rosary Necklace: This was a gift from my mom from Target

Black Cross Earrings: I think I got these at Target? Lol

On Saturday, it was humid as can be and I wanted to create an outfit that would keep me cool and comfortable. My original plans to wear one of my favorite plaid blazers got vetoed due to the weather, but I decided to keep the base of the outfit I was thinking the same. This was simply my tank top and skort and it was just right for the muggy afternoon. Since the base of this outfit was plain Jane, it was up to accessories to turn it into something worth blogging about!

For shoes, I went with my bat wing platforms from Dolls Kill and they were a huge hit. I got stopped by SO many people asking about them! Not only did these shoes add lots of extra height, but they were insanely comfortable as Johnny and I browsed through the flea market. The iridescent purple wings also gave a nice pop of color against the neutral base of this look.

Next up on my agenda was swapping out purses from my Betsey Johnson phone bag to my Union Jack one. I have a huge collection of purses and I have been enjoying changing them out with each OOTD I shoot. The Union Jack bag by Charming Charlie’s is one of my favorites and it was an obvious choice for a punk rock event. It definitely has some wear and tear to it as it’s almost nine years old, but that just adds to the aesthetic! 😀

As I was building this outfit, I knew that I wanted to use my black parasol to block out the sun. As a vampire on the go, this was very necessary! This parasol actually caused a bit of trouble because I couldn’t find it anywhere. I knew exactly where it should be and it just wasn’t. Oddly enough, it ended up being in Johnny’s car for some reason? Lol we must have spent fifteen or so minutes looking for it and I’m glad it was found because my look wouldn’t have been the same without it.

Finally, it was time for jewelry and I kept things minimal. While walking around in the heat, I didn’t want to be bogged down with a huge necklace or a ton of bracelets. So, I slipped on my rosary necklace from my mom which I love so very much and my black cross dangly earrings and called it. As always, less is more when it comes to a great look and because I had lots of other accessories already, the necklace and earrings were all I needed.

Tune in tomorrow for the blooper reel from my Punk Rock Flea OOTD and check in this week for all of our purchases. Fingers crossed that another event like this happens again soon because it was a HOOT!

Do you like to attend flea markets or vendor sales? What is the best thing you have bought secondhand? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

All Dolled Up OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my All Dolled Up OOTD! I felt amazing in my interpretation of Lil Red Barbie and I had such a fun time seeing the movie. Taking OOTD shots, though? Surprisingly, not so much! It was hot as bejeezus when Johnny took my pictures, but it wasn’t as hot as these pictures you’re about to see. 😉 Can I have a modeling contract now, or? Lol, check it out:

image_50408705(3)

Getting my phone and getting back in the air conditioning. Did I mention it was hot out?

image_50440193(5)

Now, where was I? Oh, yes. It was hot as BEJEEZUS out during this shoot and it was miserable. We started taking some pictures by the greenery around our apartment complex and by the time we were done, Johnny and I were sweating bullets. It was freaking gross. To make matters worse, I hated every single picture we took at the first location. I don’t know if it was the heat or the fact that each picture sucked or the crappy lighting or a combination of all three. I just wasn’t feeling it and I was so mad because I knew I looked awesome and it wasn’t being captured!

After cooling off momentarily in the apartment, I decided that pictures would have to be taken on the balcony where I knew the lighting was reliable. I also wanted to get things done ASAP before my entire face melted off! Johnny was such a good sport about it, as always, and our conversations during part two of OOTD shots went a little something like this: “It’s hot”. “I know”. On the bright side, I did get shots I was happy with even though I sweated my fanny off and my hair frizzed like I just got electrocuted. Not so glamorous for a Barbie glam OOTD, but what can ya do?!

Rain, heat, or snow, you can always count on Lil Red for an OOTD post. I’m basically the postal service of bloggers, but I am ready for cool fall weather anytime now after this shoot!

Do you love the heat or are you a vampire like me? Can you relate to looking great but not being able to take a good picture? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

All Dolled Up OOTD

All Dolled Up OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! Today, we are going to take a look at what I wore to see the Barbie movie this past weekend. It was such fun to unleash my inner Barbie and get All Dolled up! This was my first experience wearing pink since I don’t know how long and I thought it couldn’t have gone better. Is it my new favorite color? Hard no. But maybe a few more pretty in pink pieces wouldn’t hurt! Lol, let’s get to it:

image_50454785(6)image_50424321(10)image_50385409(2)image_50405121(9)image_50415873(6)image_50442753(9)

Who? What? Wear?

Pink Dress: See You Monday, TJMaxx

Floral Platforms: Qupid, TJMaxx

Lego Earrings: AbbieDabbles

Candy Heart Necklace: Betsey Johnson, TJMaxx

Telephone Purse: Betsey Johnson, Macy’s

I have no idea where the sunglasses are from!

Getting ready for the Barbie movie was like the ultimate form of playing dress up. I knew the movie was going to be pure fun even before seeing it and I needed a look to match! The See You Monday bodycon dress made for a very easy OOTD because all I needed to do was put it on. However, Barbie dolls don’t just serve looks through clothing alone but with their accessories too. Because I wasn’t building a full outfit, accessorizing allowed my imagination to soar all the way to Barbie Land.

As I browsed the accessory department in my boutique room, there were four key pieces I wanted to focus on: A statement necklace, sunglasses, stud earrings, and a great purse. No Barbie doll is complete without them! With my parameters determined, all I needed to do was shop around! For my necklace, I chose an adorable candy heart style one by Betsey Johnson. This was a birthday gift from my sister and it added a rainbow pop of color and some sparkly bling. It was just right and complimented the negative space I was working with without overpowering it.

Next up was sunglasses and I already knew exactly what I wanted because I envisioned it when I tried my dress on at TJMaxx! For sunnies, I selected my white cat eye pair with a cute black bow in the corner. This was a nod to retro Barbie dolls and would also help set the stage for my purse that featured the same color palette. I loved how the stark white of the sunnies looked against the magenta dress! The Lego earrings were also a tip of the cap to old school Barbie dolls that just had simple studs in their ears. Of course, my simple studs involved Lego leaves with a ladybug on it – but they were a stud pair none of the less. 😀

When it came to accessorizing my All Dolled Up OOTD, I wanted pieces that were playful. The piece de resistance was my Betsey Johnson phone purse. You can actually plug the phone handle into your phone and talk on it and it doesn’t get more playful than that! Betsey Johnson accessories were the way to go for this look and her pieces remind me of real life Barbie accessories. They are so fun and charming and made me feel like a Barbie doll in the real world too.

The last thing to complete this look was a fabulous pair of heels and my floral platforms by Qupid were the winner. No flat feet for this Barbie girl! While I could have chose my Barbie pink platforms by Marc Fisher, I decided against it. Since my dress was only one color and two of my accessories were neutral, I could have worn a shoe with any pattern and it would have worked. The Qupid platforms had the playful flare I wanted and made me feel like Barbie from head to toe!

My All Dolled Up OOTD was an absolute blast to style and I felt fantastic in it. If a Barbie doll was ever made of Lil Red, I would hope that she would be in this look!

What did you wear to the Barbie movie? Do you have a lot of pink clothes? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Debut Crochet Sweater

New Debut Crochet Sweater

Hello!! I had a lovely shopping date at TJMaxx with Johnny’s mom last week and it was a very successful trip. Why? Because it is one of my favorite times of the year! Summer clothes are going on clearance and fall clothes are being reintroduced. While the store wasn’t bursting at the seams with jackets, sweaters, and cardigans; I saw a glimmer and I was loving it. As an added treat for yours truly, TJMaxx launched their Halloween home decor collection already! You can peep my purchase from that department tomorrow. Now, let’s take a look at this adorable sweater by Debut:

image_50765057image_50427393(5)image_50730753(1)

When I saw this pretty little thing hanging on the rack, I literally gasped. It was just SO cute and one of those pieces that I instantly knew was going home with me. I had never seen anything like it before and I was enamored. The color bursts against the creamy base made me smile and I couldn’t think of anything better to begin my fall shopping with. Although I did find some summer pieces that I liked a lot during previous trips, they could all kick rocks as far as I was concerned. Fall was officially here… At TJMaxx, anyways. 😀

I wasn’t surprised when I tried my Debut sweater on and it was amazing. Like I said, I just knew! Everything about it worked. While it was a cropped sweater, it hit right where a normal rise pair of jeans would begin. This was great because I never understood why anyone would want their stomach bare when it’s chilly out! The crochet style was also just right. Although there were gaps in the fabric, it wasn’t so big that my bra was visible through them. Winning marks all around and all of the outfit ideas began to swarm!

Once this sweater was on, I really didn’t want to take it off. I loved it so much lol and it was comfy as can be. I have been eager to begin styling fall OOTDs for so long and I know exactly what I’m going to feature as soon as the temperature begins to drop!

What is your favorite season to shop for? What is fall like in your neck of the woods? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
