Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Armor

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Armor

Hello everyone and welcome back to some more swatches from the Urban Decay Naked palettes. The metallic silver seen below called “Armor” is from the Smoky palette and I am a huge fan. Once upon a time, I used to use a metallic silver eyeliner from The Body Shop and it was the best. I used this eyeliner all of the time and, then, out of nowhere it gave my eyes an awful reaction. They must have changed the formula or something, because both of my peepers turned red and grossly swollen within minutes. It was disgusting! Ever since then, I’ve never bought a silver eyeliner or shadow to compensate for my TBS one, so it’s nice to have Armor in my arsenal. Take a look:

armorarmor1armor2

^^^ The big heart is the eyeshadow wet and the smaller one is when it’s dry.

Although Armor is pretty when its dry, the wet color is where it’s at. The striking, metallic silver with that slightest hint of gunmetal grey makes for a shade that will give your eyes a pop with an unexpected color. Silver is a very underrated eye makeup color, so I’m looking forward to bringing it back after all of those years of not using my TBS eyeliner.

When it comes to wearing any eyeshadow, I always wet my Q-tip applicator before I apply. I love the saturated pigment when the shadow is wet and the dry color just doesn’t cut it. Through my swatching research, I am finding that the Urban Decay colors don’t apply very well when dry, but the application is like BUTTAH when it’s wet. Although this might be annoying to some, it’s great for me, especially because I love this shade when it’s wet oh so much!

Do you prefer your eyeshadow wet or dry? What is the best drugstore or high end brand of eyeshadow? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Smolder

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Smolder

Helloooo! My sister recently bequeathed her Urban Decay Naked palettes onto me, so we are going to go through the Naked 2 and Smoky palettes and swatch some of my favorite colors. Today, we are going to look at one of the standout shades from the Smoky palette – a lovely deep purple called Smolder. Take a gander at these pics and let’s discuss:

^^^ The first heart is the eyeshadow when its wet and the second one is when its dry.

As we all know, I don’t change it up very often when it comes to my eye makeup. I like what I like, I know what shades work for me, and I stick to them like glue. However, one shade that I do like to apply when I’m feeling saucy is purple. Not ultra bright or metallic purple, but a nice, deep shade like the one seen above. Anything too bright looks crazy with my hair, and Smolder is just right. The dark, smoky shade makes my hazel eyes change to green, as purple and green are complimentary colors, and I love using it to make my peepers pop.

What I also like about Smolder is that the purple becomes really evident when the lighting is good. As you can see from the pictures, the eyeshadow looks almost brown in my yellow-ish bathroom lighting. But, as soon as the flash came on, you could really see that sexy, smoldering purple, which is a fun surprise. So, in a darker setting like a candle lit dinner, you get a delicious chocolate brown and, as soon as the flickering candles catch your eyes, you get a striking jewel tone. So cool!

What is your favorite shade of eyeshadow to wear? Which color compliments your eyes the best? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New(ish) Urban Decay Naked Palettes

New(ish) Urban Decay Naked Palettes

Hiii! On Thanksgiving, I was in for a treat because my sister had some hand me down makeup palettes for me. Kristen is a makeup guru and loves shopping Sephora and Ulta for high end cosmetics. Although there are a few things from Sephora that I couldn’t live without, I tend to stick to the drugstore brands, myself. So, it’s always extra special when Kristen has some makeup that she’s ready to part with because that means I get to reap the rewards! Take a look at my New(ish) Urban Decay Naked Palettes and let’s discuss:

Smoky Palette:

naked1naked2naked3

Naked 2 Palette:

naked4naked5naked6

When it comes to eyeshadow, I wear a minimal amount, at best. I stick to the colors that I like and that’s about it. I don’t know how to cut crease, I’m not the best blender, and doing a proper smoky eye? Forget about it! But, that’s what is going to make having these palettes a lot of fun because I can play around and practice. Plus, having actual makeup brushes instead of Q-tips will be sure to help, too!

Obviously, I’m partial to the Naked 2 palette, because I love gold, bronze, and pink colors on my eyes. In fact, if I felt the urge to spend a decent amount of coin on a palette, this would probably be the one that I would purchase. So, having the Naked 2 palette is nice because all of the shades are basically old standbys. Although, I like to think that I have the drugstore dupe of this palette, already. The Elf Nude Rose Gold palette is an excellent compromise for a ten dollar price tag and I love using it! If you are a fan of the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, definitely check the Elf dupe out if you’re not looking to spend a lot of cash.

And, as far as the Smoky palette goes…. Well, it will be a learning experience. I actually quite like all of the colors in it, it’s just going to be more of a matter of applying them well. I rarely wear darker colors on my eyelids, so I’m not really sure what it will look like but, I’m kind of excited to try it out. I don’t even think that I would give this palette a second look in stores, so it was nice that Kristen gave it to me so I can test out some new MOTDs!

In the next few daily posts, I’ll be highlighting some of my favorite colors from each palette so keep your eyes out for that!

Which colors would you like to see swatched from my new(ish) palettes? Do you have a favorite palette or eyeshadow brand? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sephora Golden Hour Highlighter In Dusk Swatch

Sephora Golden Hour Highlighter In Dusk Swatch

Yo! Back in March, I tried out my first highlighter from Sephora. I used my Beauty Insider points to get a mini Becca highlighter in Opal during one of my orders. I’ve been using my highlighter for the past five months and am just about finished with it. And, five months isn’t bad at all for a mini product! While picking up my Mistress Hair Balm by IGK, I decided to get a new highlighter, too. I ended up with a Sephora brand one for a multitude of reasons, but price was definitely the main factor. Take a look and let’s discuss:

duskdusk1dusk2dusk3dusk4dusk5

^^^ The alternating pictures are with the flash off and the flash on, so you can see the illumination of the highlighter.

Originally, I had planned on getting another Becca highlighter. I really liked the shade that I was using and, if I was feeling saucy enough, maybe I would try a different one. But, then I realized that one of their highlighters costed thirty-five dollars and I said hell no. That would be the most that I’ve ever spend on a makeup product before and I just wasn’t comfortable with it.

I asked one of the workers if she could show me some of the different highlighters that the brands had and, everything but the Sephora brand, which ran for sixteen dollars, was upwards of thirty bucks. So, the Sephora brand it was. I liked that the color I went with, Dusk, was lighter than the shade that I’ve been using. Opal was nice and warm, which was perfect for summer. But, Dusk is cooler and more subdued, which is going to be lovely for the fall and winter months ahead.

I did like a lot of the more expensive highlighters that were shown to me, but I’m glad that I stuck to my guns and went with the cheapest option. I feel guilt free about my purchase and I definitely think that I would be feeling buyer’s remorse if I bought a thirty-five dollar highlighter. I’m looking forward to playing with my Sephora highlighter once I finish my Becca one in its entirety and will have to take some pictures to show you guys the makeup goods when I can! 😀

What is the most expensive beauty product you own? What about the least expensive? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sephora Cream Lipstick Swatch In The Red

Sephora Cream Lipstick Swatch In The Red

Hi everyone and TGIF! Today we are going to swatch the lippie that I got in my Sephora Play! box, which is by Sephora’s own brand. In this post, we’re just going to swatch the cream lipstick called The Red. But, as per request of some of my readers, there will be a future post with a review on the quality of the product when it’s actually on. I haven’t heard the best things about the Sephora brand products, so we’ll see what happens. And, we all know that I prefer a matte finish so I’ll be dragging my feet to wear it until I’m totally out of post ideas! Lol! But, for now, take a look at some swatch pics and let’s discuss:

theredthered1thered2thered3

My first impression of this lipstick was that it had a really good application. It glided onto my hand smoothly and it washed off easily with some micellar water. My second impression, unfortunately, was that this lippie was not going to look very good on me. The Red seems to have a lot of The Blue undertones to it, which clashes really badly with my hair. My red hair has a distinctive orange undertone to it, so this lippie would look super clown like on me. Not a good look!

Will I give The Red a try solely to satisfy my readers? Of course! Will I be thrilled about it? Naw, that ain’t me, dawg. But, I love you all so much that I’ll do it anyways! ❤ ❤ ❤

What is your favorite shade of lipstick? How do you feel about Sephora brand products? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sephora Haul

Sephora Haul

Hey everyone and welcome to a new week here on lifewithlilred! My most recent online shopping stint with Sephora has been nothing short of wonderful and I can’t wait to share all of my new goodies with you. From awesome products to amazing customer service, this haul had it all. Take a look and let’s discuss:

sephhsephh5

^^^ Peep that gorgeous Better Than Sex glitter packaging for Too Faced’s 20th birthday!

The Haul:

  • Too Faced Better Than Birthday Sex mascara
  • Too Faced Melted Matte lip paint in Queen B (Free!)
  • Sephora Play! box in Survival Of The Chillest
  • Givenchy Le Rouge Liquide sample (Free!)
  • Belif Hydrating Eye Bomb sample (Free!)

And, before we talk more about my haul, I have to commend Sephora’s customer service. Two of the samples that I ordered were out of stock and was replaced with the Belif eye cream sample. I called the customer service number, because I was unaware of that, and I got to talk to someone immediately. Yasmine solved my problem quickly by offering to add TWO HUNDRED Beauty Insider points to my account. It was such a generous solution to a little issue and I am so thankful for that. Thanks again, Yasmine!

And, finally, the haul. I am so pleased with everything that I received in my latest order. I LOVE the packing on Too Faced’s Better Than Birthday Sex mascara. Nothing screams ultimate girly girl like some baby pink and glitter! So cute! And, it was so nice to receive a free lip paint for purchasing something that I needed to buy, anyways. It made me feel like I got a lot of bang for my buck and I really like that since the BTS mascara is the most expensive thing in my makeup arsenal.

We will be discussing my Play! box tomorrow, but just know that I am freaking obsessed and already want another one! I am also very pleased with the Belif eye cream sample that I got. It has about three uses in one little packet and it felt so nice on the delicate skin around my eyes. I might just have to give it a try if the price is right once I finish my Nutriganics eye cream from The Body Shop.

And, can we please talk about the Givenchy lippie samples?! It came with an application wand and three single use colors. How nice is that?! I’ll be sure to do some swatches of each color, as well as the Too Faced lip paint and the lippie that came in my Play! box, so keep it posted!

I consider this haul to be money well spent. I got a lot of good stuff for about sixty dollars as well as free shipping on my order. I’m looking forward to online shopping with Sephora again once I need a reup on my products and it will be so fun to share them with all of you! 🙂

Which store offers the best freebies and rewards? Have you ever had a really successful customer service experience? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Pixi Eyeliner

New Pixi Eyeliner

Hello everyone and happy Monday! My mom is a big fan of Pixi cosmetics and always scores super awesome deals when shopping their products online. She always manages to get some type of freebie or percentage off of her order, making the purchasing of a more expensive makeup line totally worthwhile. During her last online haul, my mom got two mini eyeliners for free, and bequeathed the black one onto me since she wouldn’t use it. Take a look:

pixi1pixi2

I have to say, this Endless Silky Liner by Pixi offers the smoothest application that I’ve experienced from any drugstore brand. Although I use similar eyeliners to this one, you can definitely tell that they are a pencil. Not the case with this one. The liner itself feels so creamy and the color is so pure and I can kind of see why people would spend about fourteen dollars for a full sized one of these.

Would I ever venture into purchasing from the Pixi brand after I finish this eyeliner? Maybe if it was a really amazing deal. But, I’m okay with sticking to my CoverGirl eyeliner for now! 🙂

What brand of eyeliner do you use? Do you use a liquid liner or a pencil? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

NYX Lipstick Swatch In Indie Flick

Standard
NYX Lipstick Swatch In Indie Flick

Helloooo! Today’s NYX lippie that we’re going to swatch is called Indie Flick. At first, I thought that purchasing this shade would be a good idea, because it does have hints of red in it. But, upon trying it on at home, I was gravely mistaken, because this color is straight up orange! Lol, check it out:

indie3indie1indie4

I have always really liked the idea of orange lipstick, because it looks SO cute on the gals that can pull it off. But, unfortunately, Indie Flick is just too orange for me. If it were still a red color with orange undertones to it, maybe it would be a different story. But, it’s definitely an orange shade with a tiny smidgen of red thrown in for good measure.

Would a color like this look awesome with bright red hair and pasty pale skin? No, absolutely not. But, maybe – just maybe – a pale peach or something soft and sweet would look better, instead! I guess I’ll have to find a color like that and see what happens! 😀

Who here can rock an orange lip? What is your favorite brand of lipstick? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

NYX Lipstick Swatch In Shocking Pink

NYX Lipstick Swatch In Shocking Pink

Hello everyone!! Back in the day, before I became a loyal red lipstick lover, I was all about experimenting with different lippie colors. But, now, I really only buy more reds or nudes, because I know that they will look good on me. With red hair, the pinks, purples, and the more out there colors all look a hot mess on me. So, I have a box full of lippies from my “let’s try every color ever” phase to swatch for you guys. And, now I present to you, Shocking Pink by NYX:

pink1pink3pink4

Shocking Pink is definitely an appropriate name for this lippie, because this is PINK! But, to be more precise, I would call this fuchsia. 😉 Obviously, I would look like a clown in a color like this, but I can picture it looking SO stunning on someone with jet black hair. Shocking Pink has very cool blue undertones to it, so combining it with the sleekness of black hair would be really fabulous.

I used to think that I could get away with wearing any lipstick color, but I don’t think I ever even tried wearing this one. Shocking Pink looks like a really difficult color to pull off and I applaud anyone who can manage looking fantastic in a fuchsia lip!

Which color of lippie looks best on you? What are some lipstick colors that you would never wear? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Spring Style Q & A

Standard
Spring Style Q & A

Hey everyone and TGIF! Spring is a wonderful time for all fashion everything, because the winter layers finally get to be shed and an entire new aspect of ones wardrobe gets to be explored. In some ways, styling for spring and summer can be more difficult than fall and winter, because layering is definitely not a thing when the sun is in full blast. That means that you only have one opportunity to create a flattering look without the option of just throwing a jacket on or accessorizing it with a scarf and hat.

I, myself, find that I am floundering with creating warm weather looks, because it sure has been a long time. But, regardless of the above, and the fact that you have to shave more frequently – spring style can be fun! So, I came up with this Q & A to remind myself just why that is:

Q & A:

What is your favorite pattern for spring? Obviously, everyone loves florals for spring. But, that’s so overdone! I find myself really liking polka dots and cherry patterns lately for a touch of flirty vintage fun. Finding a piece of clothing that I like in those patterns has proven to be pretty difficult, though.

What is your ideal spring outfit? I am a huge fan of the maxi dress, so I would have to say one of those paired with a huge pair of platform heels, a hobo bag, and big sunglasses.

What is your perfect spring shoe? I think that mules are perfect for spring, because they’re adorable and functional. But, since I rarely wear flat shoes, I am all about the platform heel during warm weather. They add a touch of funky fun to every outfit and they are super easy to walk in.

How do you accessorize in the spring? I feel like big bags in hobo or tote style are a must for the spring so that you can carry all of your essentials in a cute vessel. Statement jewelry like bangle bracelets, bold necklaces, and dangly earrings always go over well. And, if it’s a bit blustery out, a fashion scarf worn Parisian style looks so chic!

How do you create a pretty spring MOTD? I definitely like a more natural look for spring. Pink eyeshadows and soft blushes always add a sweet touch to any look. And a nude lip is perfect to finish it off. But, a bright colored lippie is always fun, too!

Where do you find the best spring clothes? I will always be a TJMaxx girl at heart, but Express has some gorgeous pieces in their spring collection that I have been eyeing! I wish that it wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg to get it, though. 😥

How would you describe your spring style? I think that my spring style is way more girly than any other time of the year. But, I will always try to toughen it up a little bit with a moto jacket or oversized flannel if it’s chilly or add in some black among all of the soft colors and fabrics. So, I guess I’d call it a floral rocker type of look. 😀

Do feel free to copy and paste the above questions and answer them on your page to help get your fashion sense inspired for spring!

What is your favorite season to dress for? What about your least favorite? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
