Bath Bomb Blitz: Bombs & Balms Edition

Bath Bomb Blitz: Bombs & Balms Edition

Hello!! I enjoyed a wonderful long Labor Day weekend with Johnny and we had a blast doing a whole lot of nothing. One of my “goals” over the weekend was to finally use the last of our purchases from the Punk Rock Flea Market we attended in mid August. Johnny bought me a bath bomb from our friend’s booth, Bombs & Balms, and I have been eager to try it out! This bath bomb was easily the coolest looking one that I have ever used and I think all of you will be able to see why:

There were tons of awesome goodies at the Bombs & Balms stand including bath bombs, obvi, and lots of adorably unique homemade jewelry. Johnny and I both gravitated towards the bath bomb we walked away with immediately because we like anything with skeletons and cauldrons lol. I am also a lover of all things with an apple scent so I couldn’t wait to take a whiff of the Green Apple fragrance! On Sunday evening, I thought I would cross my bath time goal off of my to do list and it was just the relaxing, pampering treat I needed.

The scent of this bath bomb was so perfectly Green Apple and I was really impressed with its sweet/tart fragrance. I had a great feeling about this bath bomb because the last one I used from Bath & Body Works sucked on ice. Before popping this bomb into the tub, it was a given that it would begin to bubble and brew in the cauldron. Seeing it actually happen was SO cool, though, and it was like watching a potion fizz and pop!

My literal only gripe about this bath bomb was that the cauldron floated, so it was up to me to keep it under the water to fully do its thing. This wasn’t a big deal because the novelty of the witch’s brew was fun and different enough that a floating cauldron was the least of my worries. This bath bomb turned my water a bright glittery green and I thought that was fantastic because lighter colored bombs have the potential to turn the water swampy. After my soak, my skin felt soft as can be and as a bonus, the bath bomb washed away completely in the tub so there was no scrubbing afterwards. 😀

You can check out Bombs & Balms on Facebook and place orders through their page. If you are looking for a treat yoself purchase with some spooky flare, then you know exactly where to go!

New Tor’s Prints Chopping Board

New Tor’s Prints Chopping Board

Hello!!! Today, we are going to check out the last purchase I made at the Punk Rock Flea Market! Then, keep it posted for a brand new Bath Bomb Blitz once I get around to using the super cute bath bomb that Johnny got for me. 🙂 When I shop, I only buy the things that I feel like I have to have as soon as I see it. What’s the point of spending money on something that you don’t absolutely love? This chopping board by Tor’s Prints definitely fell under that category and I think you can all understand why. That is, if you are familiar with the Papa Roach song “Last Resort” lol. Take a look:

The Tor’s Prints booth had all kinds of cool goodies like keychains, stickers, and earrings. I was most enamored, however, by the custom chopping boards. When my eyes locked in on the Papa Roach inspired board and I learned that its price was only ten dollars, it was as good as mine. Johnny and I thought it was the funniest thing and it will also come in very handy because my current chopping board sucks. Then again, it’s such a hoot that I might just keep it on display on a knick knack shelf. 😀

I love everything that I purchased from the Punk Rock Flea Market, but the chopping board is my favorite. It was so neat to shop around because every booth had something completely one of a kind. While TJMaxx will always be my happy place, you will never find anything like the stuff at the market there! This was such an awesome event to attend and Johnny and I have a lot more plans in the works… Stay tuned on lifewithlilred for when your fave Elder Emo couple hits up the county fair lolol.

You can shop Tor’s Prints on Etsy and follow all of the latest and greatest on Facebook too. And, as always, support your local artists!! ❤

Where is your shopping happy place? Have you ever been to a county fair? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Punk N Junk Earrings

New Punk N Junk Earrings

Hello!! The Punk Rock Flea Market that Johnny and I went to was freaking awesome! We were blown away by the talent of the local artists and makers peddling their wares and returned home with a bagful of goodies. The first purchase that I made at the flea market was actually from one of the first vendors that we visited called Punk N Junk. They had the most adorable earrings and I wanted all of them! But, I exercised self restraint and walked away with these two:

These earrings actually tell a funny tale of mine and Johnny’s morning before going to the flea market. I couldn’t find my black parasol to save my own life and I was getting SO frustrated. TBH, my mental health feels like it’s hanging by a thread sometimes, which is why I am starting therapy this Wednesday. Because I am very sensitive at this current juncture, I cried a little bit about my missing parasol because everything just seems overwhelming to me. Then, Johnny found it in his car of all places and all was right with the world.

After my mini freak out, I had one of my “ecigs” AKA Emergency Cigarettes on our way to the market. Every week or so, I’ll have a real cigarette and that was definitely the time I needed one. So, when I saw the Crybaby earrings at the Punk N Junk stand, I jokingly told Johnny that was me! Then, I saw the cigarette ones and said that that was also me lol. These two earrings literally summed up the twenty minutes before we went to the event and it gave us a huge laugh. Even when Johnny or I are feeling frazzled, we always find a way to end up laughing at the end of it!

You can visit Punk N Junk’s Etsy page here and give them a follow on Instagram @punknjunkk. Thank you for the fab earrings – I love them! ❤

Who is your favorite local artist? What makes you feel better after something upsetting? Shopping always does the trick for me lol! I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Poison Apple Candle By MZ Candles Review

Poison Apple Candle By MZ Candles Review

Hello! If Johnny and I could have, we would have bought ALL of the things from the Punk Rock Flea Market. We both decided, however, that we would limit ourselves to the cash we brought and I am pleased to report we made good on that with some to spare too! Johnny and I held true to our plan by sticking to our “sweet spot” price range of five to fifteen dollars per purchase. One of which included this super cool Poison Apple candle by MZ Candles for just five bucks:

image_50446337(4)image_50396417(5)image_50438145(10)image_50424833(5)

I used to really enjoy burning candles when I first moved into my apartment and pretty much stopped all together. Our old place was so hot that I didn’t need another reminder of it from a dancing flame. Our new digs maintain a much cooler temperature, however, so I couldn’t help but stop at the MZ Candles booth. Merideth Z had candles galore in various sizes, colors, and scents. As always, I am an apple gal and my mind was already made up when I saw the five dollar Poison Apple candle.

The Poison Apple scent smelled exactly like the caramel apple suckers that I love so very much. Also, how cute is the wax skull?! I was expecting a decent amount of fragrance once this candle was lit and, sadly, it wasn’t the case. In fact, I couldn’t smell anything at all as it burned. This was a bit of a bummer, but it didn’t take away from how pleasant it was to have a candle lit during a nonstop rainy afternoon and evening. I also loved how the red skull and green wax melted together into a glittery pool!

Even though I was not blown away from MZ Candles in the scent department, I have been lighting it every day once I’m home from work. There is something so comforting about it and I think I will treat myself to a candle from Bath & Body Works soon!

What is your favorite brand of candles? What is your favorite candle scent? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Attending the Punk Rock Flea Market this past weekend with Johnny was SO much fun and I’m really glad we were able to check out all of the vendors before a torrential downpour hit. Is there still a misconception that the punk rock/emo/alt crowd are scary people? Lol, I’m sure some people still think so and I really wish they could have attended the flea market! Johnny and I were laughing at this on the way home because the Punk Rock Flea Market was seriously just a gigantic love fest. I have never gave or received so many compliments in my life and everyone seemed to be basking in the glory of their fellow market goers’ aesthetics.

The Punk Rock Flea Market featured so many talented local artists and fashion that served. And, I’m pleased to say that people thought Johnny and I were werking it. We got stopped frequently by people asking to take our pictures and I caught myself wondering if this is what a celebrity feels like! My husband and I were truly with our people and it was fun to see lots of old friends and make new ones too. It was a GREAT SUCCESS of a date day, indeed. 🙂

Keep it locked this week on lifewithlilred for all of the punk rock vibes and amazing oddities that we acquired!

How would you describe your personal style? What is your favorite flea market or vendor sale to attend? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Punk Rock Flea OOTD

Punk Rock Flea OOTD

Hello!! This past Saturday, Johnny and I had a fantastic date day. We attended the Punk Rock Flea Market at Lock 3 in downtown Akron and it was an absolute blast. Sadly, the event got rained out, but we made our rounds throughout the vendors and got back to our car just in the knick of time! We got so many cool goodies from amazing local artists, which you can see throughout this week. Today, let’s check out my OOTD for this neat event:

image_50437377(1)image_50729985(2)image_50460929(2)image_50737921(9)image_50737665(6)image_50741505(1)image_50450433(3)

Who? What? Wear?

Tank Top: Rachel Zoe, TJMaxx

Skort: Almost Famous, TJMaxx

Bat Wing Platforms: Sugar Thrillz, Dolls Kill

Parasol: This was a Christmas gift from Amazon

Union Jack Purse: Charming Charlie’s

Sunglasses: Martha Stewart, TJMaxx

Rosary Necklace: This was a gift from my mom from Target

Black Cross Earrings: I think I got these at Target? Lol

On Saturday, it was humid as can be and I wanted to create an outfit that would keep me cool and comfortable. My original plans to wear one of my favorite plaid blazers got vetoed due to the weather, but I decided to keep the base of the outfit I was thinking the same. This was simply my tank top and skort and it was just right for the muggy afternoon. Since the base of this outfit was plain Jane, it was up to accessories to turn it into something worth blogging about!

For shoes, I went with my bat wing platforms from Dolls Kill and they were a huge hit. I got stopped by SO many people asking about them! Not only did these shoes add lots of extra height, but they were insanely comfortable as Johnny and I browsed through the flea market. The iridescent purple wings also gave a nice pop of color against the neutral base of this look.

Next up on my agenda was swapping out purses from my Betsey Johnson phone bag to my Union Jack one. I have a huge collection of purses and I have been enjoying changing them out with each OOTD I shoot. The Union Jack bag by Charming Charlie’s is one of my favorites and it was an obvious choice for a punk rock event. It definitely has some wear and tear to it as it’s almost nine years old, but that just adds to the aesthetic! 😀

As I was building this outfit, I knew that I wanted to use my black parasol to block out the sun. As a vampire on the go, this was very necessary! This parasol actually caused a bit of trouble because I couldn’t find it anywhere. I knew exactly where it should be and it just wasn’t. Oddly enough, it ended up being in Johnny’s car for some reason? Lol we must have spent fifteen or so minutes looking for it and I’m glad it was found because my look wouldn’t have been the same without it.

Finally, it was time for jewelry and I kept things minimal. While walking around in the heat, I didn’t want to be bogged down with a huge necklace or a ton of bracelets. So, I slipped on my rosary necklace from my mom which I love so very much and my black cross dangly earrings and called it. As always, less is more when it comes to a great look and because I had lots of other accessories already, the necklace and earrings were all I needed.

Tune in tomorrow for the blooper reel from my Punk Rock Flea OOTD and check in this week for all of our purchases. Fingers crossed that another event like this happens again soon because it was a HOOT!

Do you like to attend flea markets or vendor sales? What is the best thing you have bought secondhand? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
