Summer Switch Up OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Summer Switch Up OOTD! Thanks to an amazing pair of trapeze pants by Patrons Of Peace, some new life was finally breathed into my summer wardrobe. Saying that my summer clothes in my closet is lacking is a huge understatement and I was so happy to find something to switch things up… Hence the name of the OOTD. 😉 I felt great in the look that I created and I can tell how confident I felt even in the bloopers! This literally has nothing to do with bloopers, BUT I had some visitors on my balcony as I type this so I will share the story…

When Johnny and I first moved into our new apartment, we began getting fairly regular visits from the neighborhood racoon. She’s a big old gal who loves to snack and she would get treats from the dumpster across the street, bring it up to our balcony, and chow down. We have witnessed her eating everything from burritos to chicken! Even though it’s pretty nasty to have dumpster food on our porch, we always get a kick out of seeing her. And, apparently, she’s up on our balcony more often than we realize according to our neighbor. I guess our apartment is just the place to be!

This past weekend, we were blessed with a visit from our racoon friend and were surprised with more guests… She had four babies! They. Are. Adorable. Mama and her brood were running around on the stairs, on our porch, and the roof beside it and it was so cute I couldn’t stand it. I have seen them several times since in the mornings when I’m working and they just finished making their rounds on the balcony. I’m sure that other people feed them, which isn’t a good thing. But Johnny and I don’t. I think they can just tell that him and I are freaking awesome and want to be in our general vicinity. I’m always happy to see them and can’t wait to watch the lil babes grow up! ❤

Going Gingham OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Going Gingham OOTD! As you all know, this wasn’t the outfit that I had originally planned on creating. And, the pictures you are about to see were ones that I definitely hadn’t planned on being captured lol. Instead of deleting these yikes shots, it’s way more fun to share them with all of you so let’s get to it:

As you all also already know from yesterday’s post, I TMI mentioned that I was on the rag during this shoot and feeling bloated. During this time of the month, I tend to get cramps, feel fatigued, and bloat. The cramps and tiredness, I can deal with. The bloating, however, really irks my nerves. I don’t struggle too much anymore with self image issues, but they sometimes rear their ugly head in when Aunt Flo comes to visit!

Because my original outfit didn’t happen, I was feeling irritated. Because I felt bloated, I was even more irritated! I knew that I looked good, but I wasn’t completely thrilled with it because of the wrench in my plans. It wasn’t until Johnny picked his jaw off the floor that I felt fully confident in myself and the desire to have my pictures taken came back.

Honestly, if Johnny didn’t have the reaction he did, I probably would have scrapped the outfit above altogether. But, that isn’t a good thing and I realize that now after reflecting on it. I created this outfit because I knew it would be cute and flattering. The only reason I was hesitant is because I felt bloated and that’s just ridiculous. It is my goal to do lots of OOTD posts this year and, in this case, the only thing standing in my way was me.

The lesson learned? If you feel bloated or not your best: Take the picture. If your hair isn’t behaving: Take the picture. If you have any doubt about your outfit: Take the picture. If people refused to take their pictures when they feel self conscious – pictures wouldn’t exist! Bloopers and all, I felt better as soon as my shots were taken and forgot what I was even pressed about to begin with!

Classic Summer OOTD Bloopers

Hello!!! Yesterday, you saw my Classic Summer OOTD styled for playing outside with my niece who moves a mile a minute and, of course, to show off my new hair. This was an interesting OOTD shoot because I experienced a phenomena that everyone is familiar with – thinking you look amazing in the pictures being taken and then finding out otherwise. Lol, we’ll discuss that further but, first, let’s all have a good laugh together at these outtakes:

So, as I was saying… Your girl was feeling her damn self during this OOTD shoot despite a massive hangover. Lol, I had to turn up for my birthday!! But, I digress. Where were we? Oh yeah, I was feeling GREAT! My outfit was adorable, my hair looked fabulous, and seeing my nieces gives me all of the warm fuzzies. Naturally, I assumed the pictures that Johnny was snapping were going to be fuego but this was a case when assume made an ass out of U and ME.

Now, I’m not saying that I’m America’s Next Top Model status BUT I have been taking OOTD pics for such a long time that I know what works and what doesn’t. Usually, I can take a quick scroll through the pictures that Johnny has taken, find a handful that I’m pleased with, and move onto the next set of poses. However, that just wasn’t happening this time around. I would look at the pictures, spot maybe one or two that were satisfactory, and was drowning in an endless stream of “wtf”.

I have no idea what was going on, but the HUGE selection of pictures that Johnny took did nothing for me. I wouldn’t say that I’m picky, but I was struggling to find any redeeming qualities in just about any of the shots. I was so annoyed lol. The last time I can recall a similar situation was way back in a February OOTD so this felt so out of left field!

I would be a liar if I said that I wasn’t a little disappointed with how this shoot turned out. I was expecting a huge cache of winning pictures and that simply didn’t happen. Then, I remembered that even though I didn’t have a ton of successful shots to show off, I still felt fantastic. It helped ease the sting, but I was still like “come on!”. Hey, we can’t be winners all of the time, amiright?

I like to fancy myself a seasoned OOTD blogger and this Classic Summer shoot was a bit of a buzzkill. That’s okay, though! We all have good and bad picture days and getting discouraged takes the joy out of it. Fashion is, first and foremost, fun even during unsuccessful photo shoots. I know I looked good and I know I had a blast and, at the end of the day, that’s all that matters!

Summer Sass OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Summer Sass OOTD! I am writing this on a Friday morning in between corralling the bunnies from underneath the couch but TGIF amiright?! I am still working hard at my goal of weekly OOTD posts so keep it locked for a new one soon… The only catch: I have no idea what to wear! Did I mention a few times how much I dislike dressing for summer? Lol. Summer outfits are an interesting challenge, but there was nothing challenging about bypassing these pics for the original post from this look:

Although I am not a summer fan whatsoever, there has been one GREAT improvement from summers’ past. That being, mine and Johnny’s bigger apartment. Johnny and I currently reside in Timber Bottom at the base of Timber Top, but our old place in Timber Middle was the freaking worst. It wasn’t the lack of space at the first apartment that sucked, but the lack of air conditioning that made it absolutely unbearable in the summertime.

At our old apartment, we had one rickety old AC unit that was high up in the loft. It just so happened to be at the exact same level of a window way above our door, essentially counteracting anything that the AC barely did. During the summer, it was miserable and the apartment was our own personal sweat lodge. Portable fans did nothing and the space wouldn’t start cooling down until after it got dark, making for very long summers, indeed.

At our new apartment, we have a functional AC unit and it has been working like a dream! In fact, as I write this, I feel chilly and the only way I would get that feeling at Apartment One was by sticking my head in the freezer for a few minutes lol. Our place has us feeling like icy royalty even on 90 degree days and that is not a blooper at all. The only one being, the fact that there is currently a raccoon sitting on our balcony and eating trash from a dumpster. Well, not everything can be perfect!

Although dressing in the summer doesn’t thrill me, it is hoodie temperature inside and for that I am thankful. Keep it posted on lifewithlilred for all of the daily content, fun, and future updates on the raccoon who has turned our balcony into its favorite snack spot lol SMH.

I had a blast shopping the Misny Merch collection, styling, and shooting this look and have been loving the love that I have been receiving online for it. I am still riding the high of Tim sharing my post on his Facebook page and it was so nice to see my FB friends reveling in this victory. Although my passion will always be with outfits that make me feel runway ready, I truly feel like this OOTD captures the essence of my personality. When I am running my businesses, I am for lack of better words, all business. Outside of that, however, I am a laid back, goofball of a girl. I love to laugh, have fun, and be silly and it is the best way for me to unwind after long work days of decision making and being constantly on the go. Although I always have a great time styling and shooting outfits, this one hit different. I didn’t have to worry about America’s Next Top Model level poses and faces because the OOTD didn’t call for it. I just got to throw my head back and laugh and I did that a lot because the idea of this shoot was so funny to me!

I enjoyed myself so much during my Misny To The Max OOTD session and it was also hilarious to wear this look out and about afterwards. As I’ve said before, if you live in Ohio, you know damn well who Tim Misny is and I got stopped SO many times by people asking where they can acquire their own swag too. You already know I directed them to Misny Merch and I got many a well wishes that I reign victorious as the lunch with Misny contest winner! 😀

Simply Sassy OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Simply Sassy OOTD! This week has brought us double the outfits and double the laughs and I had such a great time shooting both of these looks. No matter how sad, exhausted, or burnt out I am feeling, nothing puts a pep back in my step quite like getting the creative juices flowing by styling an OOTD and taking pics. It is my instant dose of confidence to do something that I think I’m good at and feeling good while doing so. I am so glad that I have been holding true as best as I can to my 2023 blogging goal of more outfit posts and can’t wait to see what I come up with next! Now, let’s take a peek at these bloopers:

Look out, cause Lil Red is coming in hot!

Every morning when I work from home, I open the floor to Melvin and Penelope to get their exercise. They are the most adorable, distracting creatures on planet Earth and sometimes I feel like I’m the one getting the work out instead. While they are normally pretty good about managing their mischief, some days like today, they are especially on one which turns my whole morning into blooper filled chaos. In the past half hour since I have sat down, I have gotten up SIX times to tear them away from their beloved windowsill which they love to chew on. In this process, I only tripped once which is actually not too bad for me lol SMH.

Mel and P recently got a taste of adventure when they were out with Johnny as they evaded him and ended up in a completely non bunny proofed area: The game room. They had a blast thwarting all of Johnny’s attempts to bring them back to safety and thoroughly enjoyed hiding underneath our record player. I can tell after their exploration mission that they are ready to be on the move and Johnny and I have grand plans to perfect our bunny proofing game and allow them to free roam when we aren’t home.

This process is going to be one of trial and error and I just know it is going to be bloopers aplenty in the Miller household while we figure it out. Our little gremlins are SO clever and are very good at finding new and exciting ways to escape our cardboard bunny blockers and playpen fence. Mel and P are also very fast, turning these instances into utter fiascos. I’ll never forget the time I had to mute a conference call while I tried to find Mel when he made a jailbreak! But, hey, they still manage to make fiascos adorable and Johnny and I are just as obsessed with them as the day we brought them home. ❤

After months of Christmas gift cards burning a hole in my pocket, I finally got to spend time in my happy place this past week and it was freaking awesome. Short and pale nearing thirty and fairly decent, the girl from Akron, Ohio goes walking

Did anyone go through that phase where they would never be caught dead without a full face of makeup and amazing outfit? This was definitely me from sixteen to twenty or so when I started college. After I was away from constantly working retail and needing to look good as part of the job, I found no problem with jeans and hoodies as I made my way around campus. I then learned that maybe applying my normal makeup just to run to Target wasn’t a necessity after all.

lifewithlilred was just in its early days when I started school and more frequent OOTD posts wouldn’t come until later. And, if you would have told me when I started featuring myself in more posts that I would eventually post bad pictures of myself too, I would have laughed in your face. Why would I publish pictures where I looked anything but my absolute best? Literally no one else does that!

I guess in my young and mid twenties, I couldn’t fathom the idea of showing imperfections online in the little world I had built. But, I had been building up to bloopers all of this time and I hadn’t even realized it. As I would go about my work week in standard lounge clothes and a fresh face, I was always fine with being seen around town – even if it was by people I hadn’t seen since high school. I came to realize that the difference between that dreaded situation and publishing crappy pictures on my blog was nonexistent. When I looked at it that way and was seemingly sitting on a goldmine of content, I said “why not?” and it is now one of my favorite segments on my page.

At almost twenty-nine, I have finally been able to capture the “who cares” frame of mind that I always wanted and the blooper reels helped me achieve that. And, if they help you feel more confident to post a picture, good or bad, then I have done my job!

A Night On The Town OOTD Bloopers

This look was one of my favorite ones that I have put together recently and we discussed yesterday how “elegant” was the keyword that I styled around. My perfect night out is going to the theater for a show and I had been looking forward to this past Tuesday for a long while. I wasn’t going to not see Jesus Christ Superstar if it was coming to Akron (the theater was fifteen minutes away from my apartment) and I had a blast with my mother-in-law. It has been a FAT minute since Lil Red has had a good day due to personal matters and even though these pictures are hit AF, I can tell how happy I was in every single one. It was nice!

While I freaking love a good pity party and becoming one with my couch after a long day, sometimes the best cure for the blues is to just get up and go. My day on Tuesday was a tiring one and even though I was exhausted by the time I needed to prep for the show, I decided to get dolled up anyways. I had styled an OOTD for every show I have ever attended and I wasn’t about to break the streak! Once my outfit was on and pictures were taken, I had a newfound pep in my step and was bouncing off the walls in excitement until it was time to leave.

You have no idea how many times in the past almost year I have heard “take time for you” amidst a family crisis. This was one of the first “me time” things that I have done in so long and it felt awesome. What can I say, my favorite musical just brings out the best in me! A wonderful time was had by all and I am thrilled with how my outfit and pictures turned out. And, yes, even the bloopers because they are still a memento of my night on the town!

Sweaters In Spring OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Sweaters In Spring OOTD! For last week’s OOTD, I had to resort to using my tripod for pictures because Johnny was feeling under the weather so I was very happy that my master photographer was back for this shoot. It was an alright experience using the tripod and I am glad that I got a feel for it in case I ever have to use it again. However, the convenience of having an in house photographer and OOTD shoots that last all of five minutes definitely outshines independently taking my pics. Plus, only Johnny can capture the outtakes that make for a good blooper reel! Check it out:

Poise, elegance, and grace

You may have noticed in several of the past OOTDs published that I have resorted to taking pictures on the balcony of my apartment. I know, I know – no brick wall in sight! As much as I would love to go out and about with Johnny on Saturday, our designated picture day, we have much more pressing matters to tend to. Every Saturday for the past month and change, Johnny and I or just myself have gone to visit a loved one in the hospital. Then, I do my makeup and put an outfit together when we get home and do a quick photo shoot before becoming one with our couch.

The balcony is, admittedly, not the most exciting place for a shoot but, hey, you work with what you’ve got given the situation and it works for us! If you are wanting to create content, but are too wiped out to go anywhere then it is A-okay. If you have a good imagination, as I’m sure you do since you like to write, content can be found anywhere! Whether it be taking pictures on your porch, writing about your favorite knick knack, or simply writing about your day; you are still creating something and that’s great. Life happens and the blogosphere understands – we are all proud of you simply for writing and being in this wonderful corner of the internet that we have made for ourselves. Write on, no matter the situation – it always helps me feel better and it will help you too. 🙂

On The 6th Day, She Rested OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my On The 6th Day, She Rested OOTD!! It has been an insanely awful few days in Lil Red’s world and by the time Johnny and I returned home this past Saturday, I just wanted to go to bed. Content called, however, and I would have been a monkey’s uncle before I ruined my streak of Saturday OOTD shoots. So, I decided to show the world a makeup free, lounge clothes Lil Red. We also had a power outage at that point so I just had to roll with the punches because applying makeup wasn’t in the cards. Not surprisingly, there weren’t a lot of winners from this shoot. There were a fair amount of bloopers, though, so let’s check them out:

And down he goes! This is also when I decided that we had enough pictures haha

You might notice a cooler propped up to the left of me in these pictures and there is a method to the madness. The room behind the couch is our bunny proofed area for Mel and Penelope and we have had to get creative with ways to keep them away from the areas that aren’t safe for them to be at. One example of this is the cooler! Mr. Melvin used to LOVE running behind our curio cabinet to get to the non bunny proofed living room. So, Johnny placed “bunny blockers”, which included cardboard behind the cabinets and the cooler on top of a box to keep him from hopping over it. As unsightly as it looks, it serves its purpose well!

You might also have noticed an array of Chewy boxes and cardboard behind me too and that is all Mel and Pen lol. I absolutely adore buying new toys for them when I restock their supplies on Chewy and most of them go over pretty well. However, nothing will ever beat boxes for them. Melvin is my tiny wanderer and he is always running in and out of the boxes and jumping on top of them from the stairs. Penelope, on the other hand, is my shy girl and has spent hours burrowing in the boxes and shredding to her heart’s content. When things get less crazy, Johnny and I have grand dreams of creating a cardboard castle for them and solidifying our ranks that I personally gave of “best bunny parents ever”. 😀

Every home is different and, in this case, you got to take a peek into our bunny room as well as a lazy day at chez nous. The backdrop from this shoot might look a bit haphazard, but I suppose that’s what happens when you have two furry little gremlins running about for hours on end!
