Always Meant To Wear OOTD

Always Meant To Wear OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a new OOTD compliments of my Reimagine Your Wardrobe series! About two times a year, I try to do a closet purge and I am, usually, pretty good about donating items that haven’t been worn or have sizing issues. However, I’d be a liar if I didn’t say that I definitely have a few pieces in my wardrobe that I have hung onto despite qualifying to be donated because I’ve always meant to wear it!

The Reimagine Your Wardrobe series is all about making your clothing feel brand new again and the dress that my OOTD is centered around is actually brand new – I have never worn it! That is not for a lack of wanting to, though. Take a look at my Always Meant To Wear OOTD and find out more:

IMG_1251IMG_1284IMG_1322IMG_1325IMG_1248IMG_1307IMG_1316

^^^ Johnny insisted that a small fraction of our record collection be featured in a picture because of my retro inspired outfit!

Who? What? Wear?

I am ashamed to say that this dress has been sitting unworn in my closet since 2018 because every time I wanted to wear it, it just didn’t fit quite right because I had gained some weight since purchasing it. Even though it is a golden rule of closet maintenance to donate items that don’t fit you well, I just couldn’t part with my BCBG dress because I knew in my heart of hearts that some day I would wear it and it would be magnificent!

As soon as I formed my idea for the Reimagine Your Wardrobe OOTD series, this is actually the first outfit that came to mind – provided the dress fit, of course. I have always loved this dress and it fit the criteria of incorporating my older clothing into my current outfits perfectly. I was so nervous to try it on for the first time in over a year due to the pandemic and I was really happy that it fit even better than it did when I first bought it. It looked and felt exactly how I imagined it to when I added it into my shopping cart and it was an amazing confidence boost.

My Always Meant To Wear OOTD was inspired not only by my new fashion series but the documentary on the history of rock n’ roll that Johnny and I watched recently. Johnny is a musician and we are constantly talking and learning about as well as listening to music in our apartment. The documentary we finished was incredibly entertaining and informative and I enjoyed seeing all of the different fashions of each decade.

In fact, this OOTD has been styled in my head for over a month already because I came up with it in the middle of one of the documentary episodes we were watching. The shape of this dress is super 1960s while the floral built in button down offers 70s vibes and colors. Then, I fast forwarded it into modern day with my “Who Cares?” speech bubble heels, big hoop earrings, and a mauve matte lip.

Although it will be a while until I have an occasion to rock this OOTD in public with because pandemic, I am so glad to know that it is now a viable option. My self confidence was sky high even though I was just hanging out in my apartment and it was so fun, as always, to have Johnny’s help taking my pictures. He is the absolute best and is such a good sport about snapping a million shots for me! ❤

What is your favorite decade for music? How about for fashion? I want to hear from all about you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Seahorses, Butterflies, & Toucans – Oh My!

Seahorses, Butterflies, & Toucans – Oh My!

Howdy! Having a little niece and nephew is so fun and I love spoiling them both for birthdays and Christmas. My niece, Valerie, just turned two this past week and I had a blast online shopping with TJMaxx to purchase her prezzies. Among a Paw Patrol gardening kit and a sand castle table, I couldn’t resist buying my lil future fashionista some new summer dresses. Not only were the prices for these frocks cheaper than Target or Carter’s but they are, quite possibly, the cutest things that I have ever seen and I couldn’t not share them! Check it out:

58B46A30-FC92-44AF-BE8D-6C915C4B42C95589FE43-E74D-4E90-9191-3380E5DD8A93B00B3CC0-81DA-47F3-9F5B-14FC443861B0A06D88BB-8683-40BF-93F0-D9FF27844E50B71EAFC8-CE05-4D5B-820C-6A804ACB7B1817013CAE-C156-4B49-9502-50CDFA97941B65DCD873-6265-441D-BD77-FD175C575918

All I have to say when I clothes shop for Val Gal is “where was all of this stuff when I was a baby?!” because you know I stayed rockin that Osh Kosh B’Gosh twenty something years ago lol. I thought all of these dresses were so summery and sweet and Val loves animals big and small so the patterns will go over perfectly with her! In fact, one of her favorite things in the summer time is butterfly watching with her grandpa. 🙂

The denim blue butterfly dress by Nula Bug absolutely melted my heart when I saw it during my online shopping. The pink butterfly buttons?! Stop it! I also didn’t notice in the pictures of the dress online that it has pockets so my heart melted again as soon as it arrived in the mail.

I would never pay an extravagant price for clothes for my ever growing niece and nephew and felt comfortable with what I spent at TJs. Especially because I did all of this shopping during their winter clearance sale! Shopping during the transition of seasons is a sure fire way to save some money and TJMaxx updates their sale items frequently. This is always a good thing to keep in mind if you like to do birthday or holiday shopping early, like me.

Being an aunt is the best thing ever and the past two years have been so much brighter for me because of my niece and nephew. I sure wish time would slow down, though, it feels like just yesterday when they were both born! ❤

Which stores have the best seasonal clearance? Who is your favorite person to shop for? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Let’s Go Shopping Together!

Hello!! If I had to plan a day in my neck of the woods for a blog reader who has never been to Akron, Ohio before, I always say that we would go shopping at TJMaxx, mani/pedis at Elysian Nails, a trip to the Shear Shop to get our hair done, and Taco Bell to end the day. Sounds perfect, right? While we may never enjoy Taco Bell or some pampering together, that doesn’t mean we can’t shop together because Lil Red just got approved to the Reward Style program Like To Know It!

Like To Know It provides influencers with a way to share links to all of their favorite clothing, accessories, and beauty products and if someone purchases anything, they get a commission. I have been interested in Like To Know It for a while now and I finally decided to apply to it after some encouragement from a fellow blogger who is also on LTKI. I was so happy to have been approved and it really couldn’t have happened at a better time because it coincides beautifully with my Reimagine Your Wardrobe series.

Be on the lookout for lots of fun new fashion on lifewithlilred as well as the potential to shop similar pieces on all of my OOTDs. It will be like we are going shopping together every time you visit my page. If anyone is ever interested, I can also try my hand at styling a look for you for your next big event too!

Who else uses Like To Know It? Do you have any advice for getting started? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Reimagine Your Wardrobe Guest Bloggers Wanted!

Reimagine Your Wardrobe Guest Bloggers Wanted!

Hello! As I mentioned in my Goddess Style OOTD, I am beginning a new series on lifewithlilred called Reimagine Your Wardrobe. If there is one thing that I miss during the pandemic, other than literally everything, it’s getting dressed up and going out… And TJMaxx, of course. It used to be my favorite thing to put together outfits for work and dates with Johnny or going shopping to pick out something new for his next concert.

Now, for the past year, I have been in an endless cycle of black leggings, skinny jeans, and the same five hoodies lol. I just fail to see the point of getting dressed up or putting makeup on to sit on my couch! My Goddess Style OOTD shoot was the first time I had done myself up since Christmas and it felt so good to play around in my closet and put my makeup on in the, albeit, poorly lit bathroom mirror.

I had, honestly, almost forgotten how truly fun fashion is for me and that is shocking. I never want to have that realization again and that is why I am so excited for this new series. Like getting dressed up to sit at home, shopping for new clothes also seems kind of pointless too. Any wardrobe can start to feel blah without a few refreshers so the focus of this series is to make your closet feel new without doing any shopping. And, with spring just around the corner, it means we can socially distance step out in style!

For me, this will mean finally styling some of the pieces I have that I just never got around to wearing as well as mix and matching textures and patterns. For you, it could be something totally different like incorporating more accessories or colors that you rarely wear. Whatever it is, I would love to feature your Reimagined Wardrobe OOTD on lifewithlilred! If this is something that you are interested in, then please shoot me an email at: sarah.mush6794@gmail.com

What I Wear To Feel Like A Goddess

What I Wear To Feel Like A Goddess

Hi! I have always enjoyed having guest bloggers on my page because I love interacting with new people in the blogging community. I was so happy when Libby of The Goddess Attainable answered one of my call to actions and in a short time, we have had numerous collaborations. Yesterday, you got to see my Goddess Style OOTD and today we are going to check out Libby’s! Let’s take a look:

What I Wear To Feel Like A Goddess:

This is another lifewithlilred inspired post, and I have to say, Lil Red moved me slightly out of my comfort zone for this one – which is why it’s a perfect Goddess Attainable topic. The life of a goddess is not about remaining static and staying stuck (although of course, that’s always part of life, so don’t panic if you’re feeling stuck), but rather taking chances, embracing opportunities for growth, and essentially, risking making a complete ass of yourself.

Lil Red suggested we each write a post about an outfit that makes us feel like a goddess and, even though I love fashion, I love my style, and I love putting lots of Aphrodite energy into my appearance. I have to say that since quarantine began (almost exactly a year ago), I feel like I have forgotten how to dress myself. I truly have not strayed from the pajama bottom, cotton top, snuggly socks, oversized wool cardigan since probably April 2020. I call this look my Quarantine Uniform and it has served me well. I work from home and I can’t really rationalize stuffing myself into jeans or any kind of cute outfit if I’m just home all day with no one around but my partner (who luckily, happens to think I look adorable in just about anything, including my QU).

The Dress:

I almost never wear dresses. You know why? Because I feel INCREDIBLY feminine, beautiful, powerful, and vulnerable in them, and that’s a difficult way for me to feel in my day to day life (pre-quarantine commuting, working, running around, tasking, etc.). When I put on a dress, I instantly feel like a different woman, and truly do feel like a legit goddess. Dresses are sensuous and drift across my flesh like a wispy, spring-scented breeze. Dresses don’t hold anything in and, for the most part, allow for lots of FLOW. Dresses are essentially portals to goddess galaxies which is why I chose the following:

The Awkward Photo Shoot:

libbylibby1libby2libby3

So, something about me is, I’m pretty super confident about my looks, but get me in front of a camera and ask me to be comfortable…nope…I wilt like a flower in August and just can’t get comfortable. The dress made me feel 100% like a goddess. Getting photographed in the dress made me feel like an ass. But, this is me, The Goddess Attainable, with all of my highs and lows for you to see, and I’m happy to share. Okay, maybe not happy, but willing 🙂

The Accessories:

Another super important subject that I always consider when I’m putting together a look and constructing a goddess outfit, are the accessories. I’m a details girl, and the kind of jewelry I choose is just as important as everything else. I love my accessories and these are the ones that I chose for this look…

Left: Gold hoop earrings that are tarnished and scuffed from keeping them in my jewelry dish and not wearing them for over a year. Middle: The opening at my cleavage was just a bit too open so I cinched it with one of my pearl earrings (love the makeshift accessories!). Right: One of my favorite rings I got from I don’t know where, but do you see how the blue in the stone compliments the blue in the dress?!

Thanks so much lifewithlilred for proposing this joint goddess-bonding article. This was actually super fun and I appreciate the opportunity to explore a bit more of my vulnerabilities, my insecurities, my quirks, and my true beauty. No matter our brand of woman, I think taking the time to explore our femininity and our appearance is a super spiritual act, and yet grounded in the sensuous body. This activity tagged all of the chakras for me (from root to crown) and I feel so complete after writing this post. I seriously can’t wait to do another one of these with you! Tag, I’m it!

Thank you so much again to Libby for sharing her goddess outfit with all of us! Please be sure to check out her page and give it some love. 🙂

What do you wear to feel like a goddess? What is your favorite piece of clothing? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Goddess Style OOTD

Goddess Style OOTD

Hi! You might remember Libby from The Goddess Attainable through her guest post for lifewithlilred or our collaboration article. Libby has become a great friend and is so fun to work with that I just couldn’t wait to do another collab with her and, today, I am going to share an outfit that I feel like a goddess in. This particular outfit was one of the few that I made an effort to put together in the past year due to the pandemic and wore it to visit my cousin’s microblading studio in October. However, I never got a chance to have someone take pictures of it.

Cue: My boyfriend, Johnny! This past weekend when I asked him if he could take my blog pictures for the first time, he happily obliged and with a bit of coaching turned out to be a formidable iPhone photographer. It was impossible to not laugh every time he did his goofy photographer routine of “be a cat, be a tiger”, though!

My Goddess Style OOTD is one that I have no shame in wearing again and again and you might recognize quite a few of the following pieces from previous pictures and posts. But that’s okay! I would like to start doing a new OOTD series to help people re-imagine what they already have in their wardrobe and, because of that, this is the perfect place to start. Let’s take a look at an outfit that makes me feel confident and completely goddess-like:

155382916_465154631288978_6318509524615036438_n154947768_1432847427053432_6091356881677978900_n154820877_1127163744408149_1194119267698755927_n154532553_3665307476919260_294485375847052193_n155259232_802683593653328_6363672787409086914_n155328320_435467437735070_7080266058868519090_n155105378_2877682665799764_6072102446391178340_n154600633_798070294123538_2016725409217936514_n

Who? What? Wear?

This outfit is really amazing to me for a few reasons and the first one being: How visually interesting it is. My Goddess Style OOTD is like a master class in mixing patterns with like colors and it makes your eyes dance between each different piece. When done correctly, mixing patterns can create outfit magic. However, when done wrong it can look sloppy and we don’t want any of that!

Just remember when mixing patterns that there has to be a similar color linking each piece of your ensemble together. For example, the horizontal striped sweater wouldn’t have worked against the vertical plaid stripes of the pants if they weren’t both of a navy base color. Just like the Sugar Thrillz platforms would have looked out of place if the pink didn’t mesh with the dark rose stripes in the pants and my hair.

You also never want to overwhelm the outfit with multiple loud patterns or accessories. My sweater was bold because the pattern on the jeans used muted colors and thinner lines. I also kept my accessories to a minimum other than simple dangle earrings to keep the outfit looking sleek. You want your outfit to flow as a cohesive look and jewelry, clashing patterns, or unmatched colors all can take away from that.

My OOTD was insanely fun to style but it is even more fun to wear! The first time I sported this look, my sister told me that I looked like a Bratz doll and it was basically the best compliment I have ever received. From that point on, it has since remained in one of my top favorite outfits and I think it’s because of how perfectly it captures my personal style. I love to have fun with fashion and create statement outfits that not only look good but make me feel good and this OOTD legit makes me feel like a model.

While Goddesses aren’t afraid to show their outer beauty, they have inner beauty that speaks for itself and part of what makes this outfit special to me is how well it reflects my personality too. I am a bright, bubbly, outgoing gal who always tries to see the positive in a situation. I also love to make people smile and laugh and I truly feel like you can see all of that in this look.

My personality and fashion sense are two of my favorite things about me and I would consider them to be personal Goddess qualities. My Goddess Style OOTD showcases both of these attributes beautifully and I feel proud to be me when I am wearing it. If that isn’t goddesslike, then I don’t know what is!

I want to thank Libby of The Goddess Attainable so much again for having some fashion fun with me and you can check out her look now or tune in tomorrow to see it here. If you have any OOTDs that you are proud of and would like featured, you can always shoot me an email at: sarah.mush6794@gmail.com 🙂

What makes you feel confident? How would you describe your personal style? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Quick Updates For Your Spring Wardrobe

Standard
Quick Updates For Your Spring Wardrobe

Hello!! Unless you really do need a whole new wardrobe at a season change, typically, seasonal shopping is just about adding a few new pieces to update your closet. A handful of spring statement pieces gives you the opportunity to change how you style the clothes and accessories you already have, instantly making your entire wardrobe feel new again. While a huge haul of clothes is always nice, it is not necessary and, today, we’re going to talk about a few key pieces to add into your cart during your spring shopping:

Longer Skirt:

It can still be cold in the spring time and, despite the sun shining, it isn’t quite time for the mini skirts just yet! Mid to midi or tea length skirts are perfect for spring. This length will not only provide a little extra warmth but will make you the belle of a social distanced garden party with friends. A skirt also gives a great opportunity to incorporate a bold pattern or color into your closet that you might not want in a shirt or dress.

Lovely skirts are a fun way to give your outfit some movement too! Opt for one with pleats, ruffles, or a high low length to let your clothing put on a show when you’re walking around the farmer’s market. Don’t forget that on colder days, you can always slip a pair of tights on beneath your skirt! And, paired with a crop top, it will make an easy piece to transition into summer.

Speaking Of Tights:

While shopping, grab yourself a couple of pairs of tights to sport this spring. Of course, they are great underneath skirts or floral dresses but they are also so cute when worn under a pair of shorts! If your heart is screaming “summer”, break out your favorite pair of denim shorts and pair them with colored or patterned tights, a tucked in top, and a light jacket to incorporate summer clothes while still being weather appropriate. I tend to prefer white or pale pink tights in the spring because it gives such a sweet touch of girliness but any tights you like will do!

Pastel Accessories:

Pastel hues are huge in spring but, unfortunately, pastel shades just wash me out. I look a lot better in gem tones and if that is the case for you too, then incorporate pastels into your accessories instead. Statement purses, big sunglasses, silky scarves, and parasols in pastel shades will still give your outfit some spring flare while keeping your clothes in colors that you prefer. Don’t forget pastel hued kitten heels. Adorable! Updating your accessories with the season is also way cheaper than buying lots of new clothes.

Sharp Button Downs:

Spring is a fun season to style for because you get to play with several different silhouettes and materials. People often associate gauzy, silky, flowy fabrics with spring and there is nothing wrong with that. However, you still need pieces that will give your outfit structure so all of the billowy ones don’t overpower you. A well fitting button down with long or short sleeves will do the job just fine. As established, a button down looks great with a flowy skirt but it will also pair perfectly with gauchos and paper bag shorts. Remember to add a more structured piece to your look if you are rocking breezy materials to best enhance your shape.

Update Your Color Palette:

It is no secret that I prefer to wear dark colors over light and that black is usually my go to color. However, fashion is no fun if you can’t experiment with different shades, especially in the warmer months! Spring is the best time to try out other neutral colors like navy, white, and tan. I used to shy away from all of those colors but I love to wear them now and it definitely has made my wardrobe more interesting. You don’t have to go overboard with it but in the spring time, the pop of color technique is much more effective when it’s against a lighter shade.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money to update your spring wardrobe. Go for a few of the pieces mentioned above and you will be all set to step out in style on the first warm day!

What is your go to neutral color? How do you update your wardrobe with the seasons? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Best Practices For Keeping Your Clothes Like New

Standard
Best Practices For Keeping Your Clothes Like New

Any fashionista wants their clothes to continue looking as good as it did the first time you tried it on in the store and that means knowing how to properly care for them. Keeping your clothes in great condition will allow you to get more use out of it as well as give you the opportunity to sell it on Poshmark once it is ready to retire from your wardrobe. Today, we’re going to go over a few best practices when it comes to taking care of your clothes to keep them like new for as long as possible:

Tend To Appliance Repairs:

A dryer that overheats or a washer that doesn’t fully rinse away detergent isn’t going to do your clothes any favors at all. Tend to all dryer and washer repairs when the problem arises to avoid an even bigger repair a month or two down the line as well as potentially ruining some of your favorite pieces.

Store Your Clothes Properly:

Knowing how to store your clothes properly will help prevent wrinkles and creases which will limit the possibility of you burning your favorite top on the iron! That’s one of my nightmares, anyways. A good rule of thumb is to fold clothes that have a stretchy material like T-shirts and sweaters while using Luxury Hangers to hang up items that need their shape supported like a jacket as well as materials that can wrinkle easily like silk blouses. Learning the Marie Kondo method of folding will also help with the overstuffed dresser drawers that won’t shut!

Don’t forget to take care of your accessories too. Invest in a cute jewelry stand or a wall mounted fixture to display your bling while keeping them tangle free. Keep sunglasses in protective cloth bags and, if possible, keep your shoes stored in their original boxes. Remember to stuff your purses, shoes, and hats with tissue paper to help reinforce their shape.

Follow Washing Instructions On The Tag:

For some reason, people never seem to follow the cleaning instructions on clothing tags which provide a how to guide to the best care for the item. There is nothing more disappointing than a new favorite shirt that shrunk because you didn’t wash it in cold water! Following the instructions on the care tag will prevent the colors of your clothes from bleeding as well as the fabric from stretching, shrinking, or tearing. And, please, if it says “Dry clean only” just take it to the dry cleaner!

The clothing and accessories in our wardrobe were bought because we thought they were flattering so we want them to stay in great condition for as long as we can. Follow the best practices above to help increase the longevity of your clothes as well as giving truth to all of your “next to new” listings!

Pro Tips For A Spring Wardrobe Revamp

Standard
Pro Tips For A Spring Wardrobe Revamp

Hello! I consider myself a seasonal shopper and enjoy upgrading my wardrobe with a few new pieces as the seasons change. Unfortunately, I wasn’t really able to show off my fall and winter TJMaxx haul in public because pandemic. However, with spring just around the corner and the promise of socially distanced outdoor hang outs, now is the time to give your wardrobe a boost so you can step out for the first time in ages in style. Consider the following tips as you revamp your wardrobe for spring:

Do Some Pre-Shopping:

Prior to browsing online, I always like to go through my closet and see what I already have before I add onto it. You can only have so many floral dresses and light jackets so evaluating what you have beforehand will allow you to purchase pieces that will stand out more in your wardrobe. I also do a lot of window shopping online before I commit to anything to get a feel of what trends and colors are going to be hot for the season. Mid February is a great time to do some pre-shopping, especially since full spring collections typically don’t drop until the end of the month or early March.

Set A Budget:

Once I have a good idea of what I will need from pre-shopping in my closet, I like to make a list of pieces that I would like as well as set a budget that I am comfortable with. Setting a budget is a wise thing to do before seasonal shopping because you don’t need a whole new wardrobe. Rather, just a few new pieces to freshen things up. You can leave a little wiggle room for a find that you simply can’t live without just don’t blow your entire budget on one extravagant purchase!

Keep Statement Accessories In Mind:

Spring is one of the best seasons to accessorize for and you can completely transform a look with one statement accessory. Accessory shopping tends to be cheaper than purchasing brand new clothes and if you like what you already have in your closet, then it is a great way to go for a wardrobe revamp. Think bold necklaces, patterned tights, floppy hats, floral fashion scarves, and pastel hued purses. Don’t forget a soft shawl or cardigan to layer with for chillier days.

Come Up With A Color Palette:

Warmer weather encourages a brighter color palette and while pre-shopping in your closet, it is also important to consider what colors your wardrobe is lacking. I, for example, prefer clothing in a darker color – so much so that I never really realized how much fun it is to experiment with clothing in pink, white, yellow, and green. Incorporating shades that you have never worn before or shy away from will quickly revamp your wardrobe so come up with your own spring palette and give it a try. The worst that can happen is you not liking it!

Updating your wardrobe never has to break your bank – especially if you follow the tips above. Set your budget, snag some statement pieces and, like the beautiful flowers of spring, your wardrobe will blossom too!

Which colors are in your spring palette? What is your favorite season to shop for? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Spice Up Your Look With These Fashion Tips

Standard
Spice Up Your Look With These Fashion Tips

When you pick your outfit in the morning – you get a chance to think, for just one moment, what you would like to say to the world. First impressions are everything, right? Well, the first thing we see is the clothes on each other’s backs. If fashion is a language, then it speaks to each and every one of us individually. Trends come in and out of the limelight, but the potential for great style (to use, reuse, and repurpose trends) exists in everyone. There are many styles and fashion choices out there and each style is valid.

If you want to wear a T-shirt and ripped jeans every day, then that’s your style! If you like to wear dresses and skirts with a flowy blouse, go for it! Regardless of who makes your clothes or where they came from, you can take any outfit from lukewarm to sizzling with these easy fashion tips:

Color:

There’s a sensual pull to the darker side like blacks, grays, or browns but nothing beats a gorgeous pop of color to pull the eye here and there! Consider the season: pretty pastels in the spring, bright, vivid colors in the summer sunshine, the warm and down-to-earth tones of autumn, and the cool, frosty colors of winter.

Depending on the season, you can really make a splash with the color palette of your wardrobe. Nothing says fashion quite like an understanding of how your wardrobe fluctuates with the season, shorts and billowing tops in the summer, boots and scarves under the falling leaves in autumn.

When you’re piecing together your outfit for the day, think of the components of your closet that can really set off an outfit. A warm lattice scarf can take an outfit from blah to Pinterest worthy in a second. If you don’t trust your eye, Pinterest and fashion magazines are a great place to glean inspiration for your future outfits. Don’t focus on the models – only on the clothes that draw your eye!

Layers:

When it comes to layering, you need to keep color, texture, proportion, and style in mind. Maybe you are a Chummy Tees T-shirt and jeans type of person, and the only time you’ve layered anything is deciding which jacket to throw on over your casual outfit. This is a great place to start!

A comfy flannel thrown over a simple outfit or tied around the waist suddenly makes you look like a trend-setter. Layering in fashion is an art form, and you want to keep the outfit balanced. If you layer too much, with too many contrasting pieces, then your outfit is sure to look busier than Times Square at rush hour. Try to have fun with the different styles in your closet.

It’s important to also determine your color palette before you begin. Black and white, gold and burgundy, or camel and blue are great palettes to begin with. It entirely depends on the look you want to achieve – comfy chic, edgy glam, Audrey Hepburn, or bohemian are some styles to consider when glancing through your wardrobe.

Once you have your colors, determine your textures. Maybe you want to accentuate that silk scarf you bought or the knit gloves jammed in the back of your drawer. These textures combined with a simply layered outfit and a little forethought are sure to catch the attention of just about anyone.

Match your accessories:

Who doesn’t love a color coordinated outfit? Accessories are everything when it comes to style. If you can pair an outfit with some matching sunglasses, an exquisite bracelet, a skinny belt, or a one-of-a-kind Etsy accessory – do it. This will make your outfit stand out, even if it’s just a small trip to the store.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re also living in a day and age of face mask fashion! You can’t go wrong with a little bit of glam or an accessory made from recycled materials (if you’re a green fashion-forward individual). The possibilities are endless when it comes to all of the accessories at your disposal!

Fun socks:
