The lovely Ms. Middleton has been the apple of my eye ever since she tied the knot to Prince William so it only seems appropriate to show her some #WCW love! Oh beautiful Duchess Kate, I admire your grace and charm so very much. You entered into a family of royalty with so much poise and elegance and I think your sophistication is something that women everywhere can look up to. My beloved late grandma and I always enjoyed raving to each other about your gorgeous wedding and fabulous London chic style. You handle being in the public eye so well and it has been such a joy watching you embark on the journey of motherhood with your precious George and Charlotte. Whenever you and Prince William release family photos or pictures of your little ones I get so excited! They’re just so darn cute! I envy all of your clothing like no other – whether you’re dressed up for an event for one of the many humanitarian groups you support or are just out and about with the kids, you never cease to look amazing! I like how your smart and sharp style is composed of classic pieces that ladies across the globe can easily find, like your staples of a great pair of jeans or a pea-coat. I adore your sweet and silly personality and I thank you for giving all of your fans the opportunity to see your children grow as well as your relationship with Prince William! You two look so happy when you are seen in public together and I think you are both doing such a great job as parents! You are the definition of class – and did I mention how stunning you are? Vintage Style Hair Piece Craft

Helloooo everyone and happy Tuesday! Earlier this month I ordered a black beanie that had a fishnet veil attached to it off of Amazon. Unfortunately, when it came in the mail last week I discovered that the veil on the beanie was torn in two. I was so disappointed and when I emailed the vendor to request a return she was totally awesome. She gave me a refund on the product and I didn’t even have to send it back to her. Now I was stuck with a defective beanie that I had no clue what to do with. I pondered my options and came up with a solution to make something out of nothing and I am very happy with the results, as you can see from my featured image photo! Let’s discuss the simple steps that it took to make my new Vintage Style Hair Piece Craft:

  • Step 1) Acquire veil. In my case, all I had to do was cut the netting from the beanie. #SCORE
  • Step 2) Find a jewel, feather, hat, or whatever you would like to pin your veil to. The feather and jeweled piece that I used came from an old headband of mine that I wore when my hair was longer. The feathers were attached to a circular elastic band which I don’t care to wear because it makes my hair tuft up in the back. But that’s neither here nor there. #Idigress
  • Step 3) Pin your accessory to your netting. I used two bobby pins to secure my veil to the feathers. One to keep the items attached and one to clip in my hair when I wear it. I know it looks super janky in the pictures because you can so clearly see the bobby pins, but it’s not noticeable in the slightest when it’s in your hair. #pinkiepromise
  • Step 4) Wear. Wow everyone. Repeat. #number1stunner

^^^ Honestly, those directions were so unnecessary. Lol, you guys are all smart and I’m sure you could figure this craft out on your own. But maybe this post will come in handy to those who are not the craftiest, like myself. When I’m not looking a hot wreck, I’ll be sure to post some pictures of me rocking my fun new accessory! OH YOU CRAFTY HUH?!

So there you have it, the easy how to guide for a Vintage Style Hair Piece Craft. I am so pleased with the little spark of inspiration that I had to recycle old items and make them new again. If The Shoe Fits – Mojo Moxy Edition

Helloooo everyone and welcome to another edition of If The Shoe Fits – Mojo Moxy style!! My brother is getting married this Saturday so it only seemed right to write about the heels that I’ll be wearing for the big day! Take a look at some pics and then let’s discuss:

^^^ Ugh. So in love!

My big bro got engaged a year ago and everyone was simply thrilled. A month or so after the engagement announcement an approximate date of when the wedding would be was told to my family. I kid you not, as soon as I found out that the wedding was a go I immediately began shopping for the perfect ensemble. Thanks to ModCloth I scored a gorgeous floral dress (as seen in the PicStitch photo) and my Mojo Moxy bootie heels. I ordered my outfit the day I found it and my dress and shoes have been waiting patiently in my closet for almost an entire year. I haven’t worn either of them and the anticipation to break out a brand new look is killing me! Waiting to wear the dress hasn’t been so hard but not wearing the shoes has been TORTURE! As soon as I get a new addition to my shoe collection I wear them ASAP. I honestly can’t believe the self control that I’ve had to not break these beauty booties out…And neither can my family and friends for that matter!

I wanted my look for the wedding to be unique but I didn’t want it to be an “everyone look at me” ensemble. My goal was to take a classic wedding staple like a floral dress and give it a modern spin. I think my purchases achieved this beautifully! What I love about the dress is that it’s a fresh take on a floral print because the colors are so rich as opposed to the usual pastels. In all honesty though, I was more concerned about the shoes than anything! I knew that my heels had to match my dress to the T to form a cohesive look so it was definitely a fashion life or death situation to find the winning pair!

When I order items off of ModCloth, I want it to be pieces that I know for a fact I won’t find anything similar to while I’m out shopping. A lot of the shoes I browsed through looked like things that I could find during a trip to the mall or Goodwill – until I laid eyes on my Mojo Moxys! I had never seen anything like these babies before and I had nothing that even came close to them in my personal collection. From the velvet laces to the tulip shape, I knew that these heels were “the one”. I’m sure the feelings that I have for these bad boys are very similar to how my brother feels for his fiance! The passionate yearning that I felt for these heels deep down in my loins was enough to make me stop my shoe search and place the order for the Mojo Moxys and my dress right then and there.

The week of waiting for my ModCloth delivery felt like an eternity…And then finally, my purchases arrived. I can’t even begin to tell you what it was like to open my ModCloth package to inspect the possible outfit that I would be wearing to my big brother’s wedding! Hello, anxiety! All I wanted was for the pieces to be perfect – is that so much to ask for? I ripped open the plastic to the dress and it was stunning! I pulled off the lid to the shoe box and…Navy blue?? DUN DUN DUNNNNNN!

“Navy blue,” I thought to myself frantically, “NAVY FUCKING BLUE?!” Clearly, I was somewhat freaking out – but I just couldn’t help it! The thing about these heels is that I thought they were black as I placed my order. I was banking on them being black so that they would match the base color of my dress. The color quality on the ModCloth picture was not that great, so it definitely came as a bit of a shock when I got to see my shoe babies in real life. I was so excited about these heels and it was kind of devastating to open the lid of the box and not see jet black…Deep breaths Sarah, deep breaths.

I cooled my overheated fashion engine and took a closer look at my purchases. As I looked over the dress again, I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief. Amongst all of the lovely flowers that adorn my dress, there happens to be some blooms that are NAVY FUCKING BLUE. I let out a squeal of delight, stripped off my clothes, and slipped my dress on. Then, I pulled out all of the paper stuffing the heels and put them on as well. I ran to the bathroom and squeezed my eyes shut before I took a look at the finished product in the mirror…And it was perfection. ❤

I was intrigued by his fashion, his unique glam-rock music, and what was hiding behind those beautiful different colored eyes. So here’s to you, D-Bo, and welcome to the land of lifewithlilred!

Dear David Bowie,

Alright, let’s state the obvious – you’re gorgeous. I mean seriously, DAYUM. Everything about you just screams pure European glamour and I can’t get enough. I love looking at pictures of you and witnessing your fearlessness and how confident you are in yourself through your clothing, hair, and makeup. You sir, are stunning. So not only are you everything that my heart desires as far as appearance goes but you are also SO extraordinarily talented. “Suffragette City” was the first song by you that my older brother introduced me to and from that moment on, I was hooked. I must have been nine or ten when I first heard you and it was like nothing I had heard before. Your music has such a fabulous femininity about it but it’s still so distinctively rock n’ roll and I think that’s what really made me gravitate towards it. When I hear your songs I get filled with this confidence that I never knew I had before…it makes me want to grow out a rocker mullet and take on the world! I come from a family of fans of yours so my love for you has done nothing but blossom over the years. This post about you, my sweet David Bowie, would not be complete if I didn’t bring up the movie Labyrinth…So here we go: Your performance in this muppet filled masterpiece was groundbreaking, to say the least. I have no shame in admitting that Labyrinth is one of my all time favorites and that your junk looked AWESOME in those tight pants! Hubba hubba. David Bowie, you are a true gift to the world and I thank you for gracing all of us with your presence. I LOVE YOU!!!

Every creative endeavor she embarks on makes me fall deeper in love with her, so let’s discuss!

Dear Lady Gaga,

Oh you gorgeous gorgeous gal. Words can’t even begin to tell you how much I adore and admire you. From your amazing musical talent and fabulous fashion to your incredible humanitarian work, it’s safe to say that you’re one of my heroes. You have delivered hit after hit in the musical world for years but I think my favorite moment of yours had to have been when you performed your Sound Of Music medley at the Oscar’s. You were simply glorious and your show-woman-ship moved me to tears. Your music falls into a category that is uniquely its own and no matter what the occasion I know that there is always a song by you to perfectly describe how I’m feeling. Obviously I’m a fan of your music but I’m also an intense lover of your outlandish style. I can’t even, to say the least. I always look forward to seeing what you’re rocking on the red carpet or just out and about. What I adore about your personal style is that you’re always head to toe perfection even if you’re just running around doing errands. It honestly reminds me of me because I too enjoy doing myself up for even the smallest thing. Unfortunately, my wardrobe will never be anywhere near as fierce as yours – but hey, a girl can dream. Your work in the LGBT community is an inspiration to so many people, myself included, so thank you for all that you do. Your message of staying true to yourself no matter what resonates with me and millions of others and we are all better people for it. And please PLEASE don’t even get me started on how excited I am for your debut on American Horror Story! I. Can’t. Wait!!!!! If The Shoe Fits – Carlos Santana Edition

These beauties were a gift from my sister for my twenty-first birthday and it’s safe to say it was one of the best presents I’ve received in my life! About a year ago I developed an obsession for wanting a pair of knee high gladiator sandals which probably sprung from a picture in Vogue or somewhere or another. I searched high and low on different websites for the perfect pair but none of them seemed to cut it – they all looked so cheap and costume-y. Finally in my quest for the sandals I stumbled upon a lovely pair on http://www.shoedazzle.com but the shoes I lusted after so much were sold out! I was heart broken. After that experience last year I had given up on my dream of being a proud owner of knee high gladiators. Usually I’m never one to throw in the towel when I want something but finding a pair worthy of my ownership seemed impossible after my shoedazzle catastrophe. Luckily, on my twenty-first the impossible became a tangible reality thanks to my big sis!

Two days before my birthday outing, my sister Kristen and I were browsing around at the mall. As we aimlessly window shopped we passed by a Journey’s and a pair of mid calf gladiators caught my eye. I walked into the store and pointed them out to my sister and she immediately made her classic sour face and said “those are ugly…but do you like them in black or brown?” At that point I had a sinking suspicion that new sandals were on the horizon for me for my birthday and I could barely contain my excitement!! I begged my sister to tell me what she got for me but she wouldn’t budge! I kept flip flopping in my mind of what my gift was because I hadn’t mentioned my desire for knee high gladiators in a long time. It was very possible that she didn’t know that I still wanted a pair desperately. No matter what my gift was the anticipation was killing me!!!

Finally, on the night of my birthday get together my sister presented me with a HUGE red box with a pretty gold paisley pattern on it. Could it be? The sandals that I’ve yearned for for SO long? I pulled off the lid of the box and there they were in all of their glory! They were simply gorgeous and I couldn’t wait until I got home to try them on so I took my shoes off in the middle of Olive Garden and slipped them on…The Carlos Santana’s fit like a glove and they are light years better than the pair that I wanted to order off of shoedazzle. These gladiators are edgy, cool, and exactly what I wanted. Kristen seriously hit the nail right on the head with this gift!

I’ve enjoyed wearing my gladiators so much this summer! I love pairing them with shorts, body con skirts, and sweet floral dresses. Every time I wear them when I’m out and about I get too many compliments on them to count and I love being able to say, “Thank you! My sister got them for me!”. My Carlos Santana knee high gladiator sandals are the perfect edition to my summer wardrobe and I can’t wait to wear them for many years to come. I adore them for their fashion value but I love them even more because my sister got them for me. Best. Gift. EVER!

Lil Red Shopping Tips: Freebie Style!

Heyyy everyone and happy Tuesday! So I don’t know about you but I LOVE getting freebies! In my personal opinion the two best places to stock up on free giveaways are Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works…Let me tell you why!

Victoria’s Secret: I can’t even begin to tell you the amount of free panties I’ve racked up from VS thanks to being an Angel Card holder and being on their email and mailing list. Every three to four weeks I’ll get a coupon packet in the mail from VS with a free panty coupon, ten dollars off a bra, and a free gift if you spend a certain amount of money. I’ve only received freebies via email a few times, but what I like about being on the VS emailing list is that I get to know about certain sales before the store shoppers. This is especially nice when the semi-annual sale is happening! I also receive the VS catalog in the mail as well which often will have the same coupons that I get as an Angel Card holder. That’s two or more free panties a month which is twenty-four dollars or more in savings! I like the sound of that! So there are three major ways that you can rack up on the free gifts and giveaways from VS:

  • 1) Become an Angel Card holder.
  • 2) Sign up for the VS emails for special coupon codes and sale notifications.
  • 3) Enter your name on Victoria’s Secret’s mailing list to receive their catalogs.

Usually I don’t really push credit cards, but if you like to shop at VS then I can’t recommend their Angel Card enough. With every dollar you spend on purchases you rack up points towards “Angel Rewards” gift cards, as well as a birthday gift, and hella coupons. My sister and I have received at least three hundred dollars back in gift cards within the past year which definitely helps pay for our bra obsessions! Because my sister, my mom, and myself all have an Angel Card our free panty stockpile is completely ridiculous and I wouldn’t want it any other way!

Bath & Body Works: I’ve been receiving B&BW freebies monthly for the past half a year or so and it has been such a treat! From the few random times I’ve gone into B&BW to purchase gifts, I always made sure that I entered my email and phone number when they asked for it. Apparently, this put me on their mailing list because I began receiving coupons in the mail for a free travel sized lotion or body wash and discounts off of a purchase. Sometimes I’ve gotten extra lucky and have got coupons for a full sized item freebie! Those are the best! The awesome part about both B&BW and Victoria’s Secret is that even if you only ring up a free item at the register, they still ask you for your email or phone number so that keeps you on their mailing list. I know that constantly entering your info can get annoying BUT if you love free as much as I do then typing out an uber long or embarrassing email address is a small price to pay! I completely love receiving my lotion freebies from B&BW and really enjoy going into the store to pick out what fragrance I want for the month. A free five dollar lotion may seem petty, but hey, not paying for body care adds up…And they make wonderful little add on gifts if you end up with any travel sized swag to spare!

If The Shoe Fits – Steve Madden Edition

Hellooooo everyone and happy Thursday! Welcome to a newest edition of If The Shoe Fits – Steve Madden style! This post is compliments of the suggestion from my friend at HKD so major shout outs to her! I’m actually really excited to talk about this special pair of Steve Madden’s because they were the very first pair of heels that Lil Red ever owned. Take a look at some pics and then let’s discuss!

Alright, so who wants to take a guess on how old these beauties are? I’ll give you a hint…I got them when I was in eighth grade, so that makes them SEVEN years old! Talk about an oldie but goodie! So here’s the story behind the heels that started my ever growing collection…

Once upon a time when I was but a wee girl I was forced into going to a Catholic grade school. (Thanks a lot mom and dad.) That school was the literal bane of my existence and I hated every day there more passionately than the last. Eighth grade is the year that the students get confirmed and quite frankly, I wanted nothing to do with it. I’ve been a firm nonbeliever since I was as young as I can remember, but once again my parents made me go through with the confirmation ceremony. I begrudgingly accepted this since there was nothing that I could really do at thirteen to make them change their mind. The only thing that I was looking forward to about the entire affair was the fact that I got to go shopping for a new dress and shoes for the event. Even as a youngin, Lil Red loved to shop!

My style has always been unique and for the confirmation ceremony I purchased an absolutely gorgeous Erin Featherson dress from her collection for Target. I’ll never forget it….it was a little black party dress with indigo and fuchsia bunnies all over it. It was so fabulous. Now I needed the perfect pair of shoes to go with my new dress. If I wasn’t going to enjoy myself during an evening in church, then by god I was going to look amazing. After I found my dress my mom took me to Famous Footwear to get some shoes to complete the look – and what happened next began my long journey to shoe slut status.

The entire time my mom and I were in Famous she kept on pointing out flats. Flats, flats, flats. Boring, boring, boring. I rolled my eyes at each suggestion and as I was browsing I found inner peace in the Steve Madden section. The shoes were incredible. They were like nothing I’ve ever seen before – sharp, sleek wedges and heels in every shape and color imaginable. My eyes locked on the pair of strappy black wooden heels and I knew at that moment that those were it. I was going to strut my stuff down that church aisle way at confirmation like nobody’s business! I showed my mom the heels and she immediately rejected them, but I tried them on anyways…(insert suspenseful music here.)

I slipped on my first pair of heels and something inside of me clicked…they just felt so right. Once the shoes were on I hesitantly stood up and took my first wobbly steps in those beautiful wooden Steve Madden’s. After my first few steps my confidence grew and I was able to fully savor the moment of taking my first walk in heels…words can’t even describe how it felt. The way the heels made my legs look long, the way they fit to perfection, and the glorious noise of the wooden heels clacking on the floor – I absolutely loved it.

As soon as the shoes were on there was no turning back and my mom bought me my very first pair of heels. Best believe I rocked them like no other at my eighth grade confirmation and I still break them out to this day. Steve Madden remains one of my all time favorites for shoes and because they’re such excellent quality I know that I’ll have my pairs of Steve Madden’s for forever. Thank god. 😉

If The Shoe Fits – Juicy Couture Edition

Helloooo everyone and happy Saturday! So if there’s one thing that Lil Red loves, it’s shoes, shoes, and more shoes! With a collection of almost fifty shoes and counting it’s safe to say that I’m a big fat shoe SLUT…and that’s so okay with me! I thought that it would be fun to introduce a new segment to lifewithlilred and I fell in love with the idea of discussing all of my pretty little shoe babies one by one. The idea for “If The Shoe Fits” was conceived last night, so welcome to the first edition – Juicy Couture style!

^^^ They’re so pretty!!!

I had lots of different shoes in mind to talk about first, but I thought that my Juicys would be appropriate to help ring in the new segment considering I wore them yesterday and got at least ten compliments on them. I got these bad boys about a month and a half ago at Kohl’s for around sixty dollars and I haven’t been so happy with a purchase in a long time. These funky wedges are SO unique and I’ve never seen anything like them before, therefore, I had to have them! It was truly love at first sight when I saw these pretties for the first time and the love grew deeper when I slipped the size 6 1/2 on and they fit like a glove. After they were on my feet and I could examine them in the mirror and strut about in them, I knew that they were going to become one of my favorite pairs of heels…and I was right! There’s something about my Juicys that remind me of bowling shoes and I can’t put my finger on it. Some of you might find that as a turn off, but not me! When I was in high school, I bought a pair of bowling shoes from the Goodwill and best believe I rocked them like no other! So clearly, Lil Red is pro bowling shoes, pro wedges, and pro Juicy Couture to the extreme!

When I was wearing my pretties yesterday while I was out and about I got so many compliments that I can’t even keep track of them. One lady told me that she usually “wasn’t one to go gaga over shoes” but mine were the exception! So I guess that’s how you know that they’re fabulous! I love wearing my Juicys with sweet floral dresses and my black super skinnies. My featured image photo is from my brother’s graduation last month where I broke my wedges in for the first time…It was a historic event. The graduation was a historic event…and so were the shoes! 😉

I had the pleasure of seeing you perform in No Doubt when I was fifteen and was blown away by your show-woman-ship and rockin bod. So for that, it is only fitting that you receive a hubba hubba! Everything that you do, I love – fronting No Doubt, your solo career, coaching on The Voice, and all of your amazing clothing lines. I have countless Harajuku Lovers purses and fragrances as well as your perfume for L.A.M.B.! You are so fabulous and creative and I always look to you for celebrity style inspiration. Thank you for giving me music that I can sing poorly to while driving the Little Red Love Machine. Thank you for creating clothing lines to bring some of your flawless style to a gal in Akron, Ohio. And thank you very much for creating fragrances that keep me smelling “Yummy” on the daily! I LOVE YOU!
