Feeling Flowery OOTD

Feeling Flowery OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! I wanted to get one more outfit in before my hair changes again so Johnny and I took pictures this past weekend. And, if the location looks familiar: It should! We went to the same brick wall (That is also a bathroom at a local park lol) featured in my It’s Not Just A Phase OOTD. Hey, you’ve got to work with what you’ve got sometimes! Check it out:

Who? What? Wear?

I don’t know about all of you but I am So. Freaking. Sick. of dressing for winter. Don’t get me wrong, I love cold weather clothing and accessories. However, I am bored with wearing skinny jeans constantly! I miss skirts and dresses so very much and while I have a passion for fashion, I am just not passionate enough to brave the cold with bare legs lol. It was less than thirty degrees out when we took these pictures and I was freezing my nads off in what I had on!

Winter essentially eliminates your options other than pants and that bores me. Therefore, bold patterns and colors are a must during the cold months to incorporate some excitement back into your fits. Because my pants were already chosen for me thanks to the weather, I decided to go with my Jaase zip up top on top. This little number is an oldie but goodie from TJMaxx and I think it is so cool. The unique shape and puff sleeves paired with the white flowers against a cornflower blue base creates a top that I have never seen anything like before. Granted, it’s definitely not warm enough to be worn on its own but it makes for an amazing option during the spring.

I view patterns as an accessory in themselves and didn’t want to bog down a top as loud as the Jaase one with too many extras. The day of taking these pictures, my hair didn’t want to cooperate at all so a headband was in order. Luckily, I had just the one in mind from Claire’s. The blue of the headband is almost an identical match to the top and I liked the pop of red in the embroidery. The headband also bumped up the back of my hair to add some volume and more visual interest to the look.

For earrings, I chose a pair that Johnny’s mom got me that you can’t see too well. They are a small dangly pair of steel blue rectangles with copper flowers and were right on target with the floral theme that I was working with. Since I already had the headband on, I didn’t want earrings that were too big or blingy and these added a little touch of movement without looking cluttered around my face.

Finally, it was time for shoes and I went with my thigh high boots by Candie’s. These are, quite possibly, one of my favorite boots in my entire collection. They are so sleek and sexy and guarantee mile long legs. They blend in perfectly with my black skinnies to give a boost in height without breaking up the silhouette of the outfit. Since the focal point of this look was the Jaase top, I didn’t want to take away from it with bolder heels so the Candie’s pair was just what I needed to complete the look!

When it comes to adding some spice to outfits during the winter, you need to get creative. You could consider transforming your clothing items into stunning pieces made possible by the art of embroidery. Delicate stitches and intricate designs can elevate the beauty of any attire. From elegant dresses to classic blouses, the possibilities are endless. Imagine a dainty lace collar adorned with blooming flowers or a bold statement jacket embroidered with intricate patterns. Floriani, known for its high-quality embroidery threads, adds a touch of excellence to each stitch, ensuring the final result is nothing short of breathtaking. Embrace the charm of the past while adding a personal touch with the magic of embroidery.

Although this isn’t one of my most exciting looks, I still really like this Feeling Flowery OOTD. Keep it posted for bloopers from this fit as well as new outfits coming soon with brand new hair!

What is your favorite season to dress for? How do you spice up cold weather outfits? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Accessory Story: Claire’s Haul Edition

Accessory Story: Claire’s Haul Edition

Helloooo everyone! This past week, I took a client to the mall to do a little shopping and, unfortunately (but not really), I was the one who ended up buying something AS PER USHE. But, I just couldn’t help myself, because I got an amazing deal – six pretty accessories from Claire’s for a whole eighteen dollars thanks to clearance shopping and a buy three get three free deal. I am super happy with my new earrings and headbands and I know that without the promo and marked down prices I would have paid well over fifty bucks for everything I got. So, I guess it isn’t all bad! 😉 Check it out:

^^^ And, yes, the flower headband DOES light up!!

Buying accessories like earrings and headbands is usually pretty low on my fashion priority list. I have a few of each at home that I wear exclusively and that’s about it. I don’t know if it’s the price of them that bothers me or what, but I’d always rather buy shoes… obviously lol. So, when I found such a good deal for some new treats, I couldn’t pass it up.

I love, love, love my new earrings and am looking forward to wearing all of them, especially the gold circle ones – I think those are so cool! I’ve never owned a pair of feather earrings, either, and the black ones spoke to me, no surprises there. And, the cherries were too cute and the drop ones with the translucent pearls were too classic to not add those to the bag, too.

Although I adore the earrings, I am most excited about my headbands! I haven’t bought new headbands since high school I think, so that was definitely a purchase that had a long time coming! The light denim faux suede with the embroidered flowers is SO pretty and it will be a great way to accessorize a collegiate chic OOTD come fall time.

And, can we PLEASE talk about the light up floral one?! So. CUTE! I had no idea it lit up until the girl who was ringing me up told me and that just made the find even sweeter because it’s basically the coolest thing ever. I have never seen anything like that that I would actually want to wear and I cannot wait to style an OOTD and MOTD around it.

Was this little haul necessary? Not necessarily! But, I got a great deal and found some pretty little things that I wouldn’t have bought otherwise. Plus, there is nothing like refreshing your outfits with some new odds and ends that didn’t break the bank!

Where do you like to accessory shop at? How do you refresh old outfits? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

A Retail Free Holiday Season

A Retail Free Holiday Season

Helloooo everyone and happy Tuesday! Most of you guys know that before I started school I worked hella retail. My days were spent slaving away in PacSun, The Body Shop, Claire’s, Piercing Pagoda, and Next for what seemed like an eternity. This year, however, I’m so excited to not work a holiday season in the mall. After working five Black Fridays in a row – I am officially free from the evil clutches of the mall during the holidays! SCORE!

On Saturday, my sister and I took a trip to the mall so she could make a few returns and do some shopping. As soon as we entered the premises, we were greeted by Christmas music, decorations, and a mall that was jam packed for an early November evening. Seriously, just being in that environment gave me anxiety and as far as I was concerned, we couldn’t leave soon enough.

Being in the mall among all of the really early holiday shoppers who seemed to be just as crazy as the last minute gift grabbers reminded me how thankful I am that I can finally have a holiday season to enjoy with my friends and family. When I worked retail I can’t remember one holiday season that I genuinely enjoyed because I was too wrapped up in working crazy hours and dealing with insane customers. This year, I don’t have to worry about going into the mall on Thanksgiving day to work a thirteen hour Black Friday shift. I also don’t have to be at the mall late on Christmas Eve to tend to everyone’s final holiday needs and clean the trashed store to perfection. *sigh of relief*

When you’re working every minute of the months of November through January, you simply forget that those times are meant to be for your loved ones. The thing that I’m most looking forward to is actually having a Thanksgiving. For the past five years my Thanksgivings were spent counting down the hours till my Black Friday shift and trying to cram in some power naps before the insanity unfolded. This year I’ll be able to help cook, prepare the table, and spend quality time with my family and boyfriend. It’s going to feel so good but SO strange because I’m completely not used to relaxing during a holiday – what does that even mean?!

I’m so thankful for everything that my years of hard work provided me with before I started college. I was able to buy my car (Little Red Love Machine!), buy clothes, purchase gifts for others, and put money towards my tuition. But this year, I am so ready to sit back, relax, and enjoy a glorious Retail Free Holiday Season! I hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far! Have any of you worked retail during the holidays? Do you have any funny/traumatic moments to share? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

PS: My traumatic story to share from a very retail holiday season doesn’t deal so much with me as it does an unfortunate Victoria’s Secret employee who got punched THREE YEARS IN A ROW during Black Friday. #threepeat

Forgetful Me!

Forgetful Me!

Guyyyyyyys, seriously? You let me forget some of the stuff that I was gonna talk about in my Lil Red’s Spring Obsessions post?! Thanks a lot! -___- Kidding of course, but for real I’m so annoyed at myself for forgetting to mention my latest jewelry obsession! *Drum roll pleeeease* ……………

…..BODY CHAINS! Yes, yes, yes I love them! I found my new beauties when I went with my sister to get her ears repierced at Claire’s. Kristen is the queen of piercing her own ears, it’s actually really amazing. I remember walking in the bathroom and seeing her stick a needle through her ears like it was nothing. Unfortunately, miss thang came to the realization that almost every hole she poked was totally uneven so she decided to let them close up and get them redone by someone who actually knows what they’re doing. I really don’t know how she does it. I’ve gotten countless extreme piercings – hips, collarbones, four nose piercings at once – but I can’t for the life of me pierce my own ears! As you can see from all of my pictures and posts of my body mods, I can clearly handle pain but I apparently can’t handle shoving a needle through my lobe…go figure. ANYWAYS, I’ve been looking for some cool body chains for forever, and I was soooo excited when I saw that Claire’s had a wide selection to choose from! Kristen and I got 20% off of our purchase since she got her ears pierced and the jewelry was buy two get one free on top of that, so it was quite the deal! Take a look at my new swagg (and remind me to never say that again):

^^^^ So fun, right?!

I love these sassy and edgy new additions to my jewelry collection so much, but my one complaint is that they get tangled like NO OTHER. Seriously, one wrong move with these bad boys when you’re putting them on, taking them off, or putting them away for the day can result in a big, frustrating, knotty mess. Believe me, it’s happened to me too many times to count already. Luckily, my dad is amazing at unknotting jewelry, but in all honesty the chains are quite flimsy so a few more untangling sessions will probably result in one of them breaking – sad but true. Despite the chain challenges, these are such a cool add on to any outfit. I love wearing them with crop tops and I’m also very excited to wear them with my bikini in the summer time!! I’ve seen so many body chains online that I like, but they’re all quite expensive. The ones I purchased at Claire’s were $11.99 each, which was a steal as far as I’m concerned. So if you’re looking for some cute body chains but aren’t interested in shelling out an arm and a leg, definitely check out Claire’s in stores and online at http://www.claires.com/us/!

^^^ I had to!!!

So there you have it, a quick little add on to my Lil Red’s Spring Obsession’s post! I hope all of you are having a fabulous Hump Day evening! What are your favorite new jewelry trends? Where is your favorite place to purchase jewelry? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Goodnight! -Sarah
