Heyyyy everyone and TGIF! To celebrate one of the best days of the week enjoy one of the worst songs in the world and then we’ll chat!
FRIDAY FRIDAY GETTIN DOWN ON FRIDAYYYY……oh you’re done already? I…uhh…whoops. 😉
I’ll be out of office today because I’ll be spending a lovely afternoon and evening at Crocker Park with my best ladyfriend, Kate. I’ve wrote about Crocker Park before, but if you’re unfamiliar with it, it’s a beautiful outdoor shopping mall in Cleveland. It has the absolute best stores, like H&M, Urban Outfitters, and Express. Going to Crocker Park is one of my favorite things to do in Ohio and I’m so excited because I really need to finish assembling my spring and summer wardrobe. All I really need now is some shorts but I also have my heart set on finding an awesome mustard yellow piece to add to my collection. Mustard yellow is probably one of the only colors I don’t have a piece of clothing or accessory in so I hope I find something! Preferably a blazer or light jacket – I feel like a mustard yellow outerwear item would be super cute for spring. I also wouldn’t say no to a new pair of gladiator sandals either! I would love to find a knee high pair, but I’ve been having no luck finding any in stores. I’ve seen them online before, but a shoe like that is something I would definitely need to try on before purchasing so I can make sure that it’s completely perfect. Last night I downloaded the Retailmenot app on my iPod so I could get a feel for all of the sales going on at the stores in Crocker Park. There seems to be a lot of good deals going on which is great, because you know I’m all about ballin on a budget. ALSO, if you’re an H&M fan, you can go on their website and sign up for their newsletter to receive a twenty percent off of one item coupon. I love H&M so much so if I find something there today, the twenty percent off will make it even sweeter! #ballinonabudget Today is sure to be a beautiful perfect day full of fun, fashion, and of course: treatin yoself!!
I hope all of you have a fantastic Friday and weekend! Do you have any fun plans coming up? I wanna hear all about them, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
PS: If you know of any stores that sell knee high gladiator sandals please holla atcha girl!!!
Last night was my mom’s annual Mexican dinner birthday bash and it was absolutely wonderful! Every year for my mom’s birthday we hit up a local Mexican restaurant, El Campesino for good food, frivolity, and hella margaritas! Here’s a few pics from the white girl wasted festivities:
^^^ She’s so cute!!! (And I feel like we look super alike in these pictures, so now you know where I got my striking good looks from! ;)) El Campesino is one of our all time favorites, and we had a complete blast. The restaurant was hoppin on a Friday night, but we got seated right away which was awesome. My mom’s birthday is on Sunday, but all of the members of the family crew could go out on Friday night so we celebrated early. We ordered our food and a pitcher of margs quickly because we were so hungry, and our food arrived in less than FIVE MINUTES!! Talk about service! The most adorable thing about my mom is that she’s a total lightweight, so within one glass of margarita, she was white girl wasted. The only words that I can use to sum up my mom when she’s wasteypants are as follows: funny, sloppy, and unpredictable. We annihilated our food and threw back our margs and had a gay old time. My favorite part of the night was when my mom decided it would be funny to knock her head on my shoulder while saying “timber” in the tune of Kesha and Pitbull’s hit. My mom loves Pitbull, so this one is for her:
The celebration was so fun and will carry on to tomorrow for her actual birthday, so don’t expect to hear from me tomorrow! I love you so much mama and I hope you have a fantastic birthday! Thank you for being my best friend and the most amazing mom a gal could ask for! You’re the most beautiful lady in the whole wide world and I’m SO lucky to have you as my mommy! ❤
I’m currently at Starbucks, where I’ve been working on math homework for the past two hours. -__- I desperately needed a break, so I figured now would be the perfect time to tell you guys all about my lovely family evening. But alas, I must get back to work, so I have to cut this post short. I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend, and I’ll check back in with you guys on Monday for the weekly update!
What are you guys up to this weekend? Any fun plans? What’s your family’s favorite way to celebrate a birthday? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! And make sure you leave my mama some birthday love in the comments! Much love. -Sarah
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU!!!! #BFF!!!!!!
Helllllooo gang and TGIF! I don’t know about you guys, but I had a fabulous Thursday!! Seriously, I haven’t had such a lovely, average day in forever so I feel the need to share it! To get you in the great day spirit, enjoy this goofy Lonely Island video and proceed to read:
I had an early start today because I had to drive to Cleveland in the morning for stupid math class. My only complaint about my morning was the fact that we were out of coffee grounds at home, so I didn’t have enough to make my usual amount. I made the coffee anyway, keeping my fingers crossed that it would still taste good…but unfortunately that didn’t happen. -__- I was basically drinking slightly bitter bath water my entire way to school, lol it was so gross. Math class was boring as usual, and I totally left class early to go get my nails done…clearly I have my priorities straight. 😉 However, once I got on the highway there was a big fat traffic jam due to road construction so I ended up getting to the salon when I would get there on a normal day without leaving early. So moral of the story: I should have just stayed in class. Ha! BUT, my beloved nail tech, Vinny did a fabulous job as usual on touching up my fierce talon nails. I opted for my usual black with a beige accent nail for a cool twist, and I’m beyond obsessed with the fresh new color combo. Take a look:
^^^#pronails Ahhh, I love them so much it hurts! There’s three major things that are difficult with my talon nails:
Taking my contacts in and out.
Buttoning and unbuttoning my jeans.
Opening pop cans.
Despite these minor difficulties, they are so beyond worth it. So edgy, so fierce, so fun. After a trip to the salon, I had some much needed and long overdue BFF time with my sweet Lea. My darling girl and I really wanted to be crafty today, so we went to PatCatan’s for inspiration. While ambling down the aisles we came across the wooden craft supplies and thought that it would be fun to paint birdhouses. After picking out the houses we liked and some paint, we hit up Taco Bell for a quick snack and then headed back to Lea’s place to start the craftapalooza. We were so excited about this cute project that we forgot something very important at the craft store…small paint brushes. -__- All we had in our craft supply box were big brushes from our canvas art projects, and they made painting all of the sweet details on our birdhouses totally impossible. Both of our creations turned out smudgy, smeared, and nowhere near as adorable as we wanted them to be. I straight up left my house at Lea’s place and told her to just paint it black for me. Ha, I should have just done that all along! Despite our painting difficulties, we still managed to have a blast as usual! We always do, because making fun out of a miserable crafting experience is what best friends are for! #epiccraftingfail
After a sweet best friend afternoon, I had a quick get together with my neighbor and video gaming partner in crime, Vaughn. I then proceeded to finish up some math and psych homework until my brain couldn’t take it anymore. After I had had enough of homeworking (and believe me, it didn’t take long), I ended my night with watching Saw III on Netflix. I’m a scary movie junkie, and the Saw films are one of my major guilty pleasures. After I finish up this post, I’m going to start the fourth installment of the film series and hit the hay. Maybe not the best movies to watch before bed, but that’s okay!
I hope all of you had a fabulous Thursday and an even better Friday today! What are you guys up to this weekend? Any fun plans? It’s my mom’s birthday on Sunday so my family is going to go out to eat tomorrow to celebrate – it should be fun! Tell me all about your weekend plans and leave my mama some birthday love! I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Goodnight. -Sarah
Ohhhhh yes, another glorious No Makeup Sunday is upon us yet again…thank freaking GAWD. Today is my all time favorite day of the week. No makeup, sweats, and best friend time with my darling Kate. What could be better? Nothing, that’s what. Today’s hang out is a special day because Kate has an interview for an internship with a marketing company tomorrow, so everyone be sure to wish her luck! For the occasion I got her some sweet little pick me up treats at Tuesday Morning. I don’t know if that store is just an Ohio thing, but it’s pretty fabulous. I went yesterday with my parents and it was a blast. Tuesday Morning is kind of like TJMaxx but for home goods and decorations and whatnot. Here’s a PicStitch of what I picked up for my boothang:
Isn’t that adorable?! I saw the Paris themed journal and it screamed “KATE” at me, so of course I had to get it. Then when I saw the quirky book box I thought it would be the perfect thing to stow the journal away in. And the best part about this gift? I won’t give you an exact amount, but I paid less than twenty dollars for it, which is amazing considering I feel like these look pretty expensive. So needless to say, if there’s a Tuesday Morning in your neck of the woods, make sure you check it out!
During No Makeup Sunday tonight Kate is being kind enough to help me out with my math homework, which I should have done at some point during my week off for spring break but decided not to…whoops! Thank goodness Kate’s a math whiz, especially because I have a quiz the day I come back to class this Tuesday. #gross Today is my last day of my spring break, and I’m so happy that I get to spend it No Makeup Sunday style! Yesterday I had an unexpectedly good day as well. I had a lovely afternoon with my parents, which hasn’t happened in a while. I forgot to mention that my mom and dad have started taking ballroom dancing classes and it’s basically the cutest thing ever. I love watching them practice their steps together. More importantly, I love watching them get mad at each other when a toe gets stepped on! It’s so precious to watch, I can’t even begin to describe it! If Dancing With The Middle Class were a TV show my parents would take home the mirror ball trophy for sure! Yesterday evening I got coffee with one of my evil exes (but not quite an ex since we never “officially” dated, but you get the point). Anyways, it went a lot better than I expected it to go, so I guess that’s cool. This dude owed me a major apology and it felt good to actually hear it in real life rather than via a text message or whatever. I’m pretty ambivalent about it either way, but we’ll see.
^^^ Today is promising to be a beautiful day, so naturally it calls for my favorite song in the whole wide world! I hope all of you guys have a fabulous Sunday doing whatever it is that you do! Make sure you drop by and leave Kate some good luck love for her internship interview in the comments! Any questions or concerns? I’d love to hear from you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Whatup crew! Happy Friday!! In the immaculate words of R. Kelly “it’s the freakin weekend, baby I’m about to have me some fun.” Mwahaha
SO, it’s Friday and Lil Red is shockingly feeling really good. I haven’t been completely honest with you guys, because some major bullshit happened this week that I haven’t filled you in on. But rest assured, that I’m a-okay and that when the situation mulls over you better believe I’ll be discussing it with my usual dry wit and dark humor of a girl who loves to hate everything. I’m actually pretty pleased with myself and the indifference I managed to have about this less than ideal matter. I didn’t cut and honestly didn’t even think about doing it once…so snaps for me!!!! Despite some stupidity speed bumps in the road, it’s been a pretty good spring break. I procrastinated A LOT on homework, but I somehow still managed to get a ton done. I wish I could explain to you how that happened! I had a lot of really nice R&R time during my week off, and it was delightful – there’s seriously nothing better than having nothing on your agenda for the day. Asides from hanging out with the few people who I don’t completely despise, I was able to indulge in rereading one of my all time favorite books, Gentlemen & Players by Joanne Harris. If you know how to read and enjoy fantastic literature, do yourselves a favor and read this book! This is my third time rereading it, and it still managed to find ways to shock me. So amazing.
Because now isn’t the best time to zone you in on my most recent misfortune this week, this post is just a short and sweet one to welcome you to the weekend! I’m not quite sure yet what the weekend holds for me, but I do know that my family is getting Pizza Hut tonight for dinner, and I’m more excited about that than probably anything. Is that bad? Ha! Hopefully a little bit of white girl wastedness will happen before I have to go back to school. And more importantly, hopefully I work up the nerve to get my last homework assignments done! 😉
I hope all of you have a fabulously fun weekend doing whatever it is that you do! It’s finally feeling quite spring-like in good ol’ Akron, Ohio with temperatures in the fifties! I broke out my first maxi dress of the season today and I’m feeling so happy about it!!! I’m so excited to wear dresses without tights, shorts, and skirts but I’m really not looking forward to shaving my legs. -_- #fml. What are you guys up to this weekend? Any fun plans? I’d love to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
^^ I’ve been listening to Metric all afternoon, so enjoy! Could Emily Haines please stop being a total babe now? #havemercy!!!
Heavens to Betsy, crew. The old girl is dying over here!! Lil Red is absolutely exhausted. If you recall from yesterday, I had a rude 8 AM text message awakening, so I was super wiped out from that. One would think that I would have had the sleep of the heavens last night, but unfortunately that was not the case. I had the worst caffeine headache of all time yesterday night from drinking hella coffee all day. On top of my head feeling like it was getting hit repeatedly by a brick, my stomach was in knots as well. I was super nauseous while I was trying to sleep, so I spent a nice fifteen minutes or so in the bathroom just hanging out and dry heaving. It was a lot of fun, you should all try it sometime. Anyways, I got back into bed completely wide awake and proceeded to toss and turn for a solid three hours until I finally fell asleep around two. Before I zonked out I experienced every annoying thing that could happen when you’re trying to fall asleep: Being too hot, being too cold, having to pee, wanting something to drink, having to pee again from the drink, the list goes on and on. I had to get up at nine today to get ready to take my brother to work and I was not refreshed AT ALL! In fact, I felt like a bigger hot wreck today than I did yesterday….and I was a hot asswreck yesterday. I swear guys, if I don’t sleep well tonight, I give up on Friday because I know I’ll be such a miserable bitch! Lord have mercy on a Lil Red! And do you wanna know the major kicker in all of this trauma? MY BELLYBUTTON IS STILL INFECTED!!!! My pasty pale stomach is never gonna feel sunlight on it again because I can’t wear crop tops with my bellybutton looking like a war zone! It literally looks like someone launched a grenade into my bellybutton hole, leaving only redness, dry skin, and destruction. #FML So it’s safe to say Lil Red has had a tough few days, but I’m gonna keep on truckin as usual through the shit show that I fondly refer to as my life. 😉
You might be asking yourself why the title of this post is called “Heavens To Betsy” and I’ll tell ya why: There are some fantastic, underrated phrases that aren’t being used nearly enough in the English language and I wanna make them a thing ASAP! To elaborate further, here’s a list of my personal favorite phrases that I’m hoping will hit mainstream lingo in the near future:
“Level with me”: This phrase is my number one favorite. The day I hear “Level with me, Sarah…do you want high heels or wedges for your birthday?” will be the happiest day of my life. And to answer that question….wedges please!
“Big deal”: This is a good one!! I love how blaize it sounds. “Sarah, I had an allergic reaction to a bee sting today.” “BIG DEAL!” 🙂
“Heavens to Betsy”: It speaks for itself. “Sarah, I had an allergic reaction to another bee sting today.” “Heavens to Betsy that’s twice in one day!”
Referring to yourself as “the old girl”: Ladies, I beg of you to start using this one. So 40’s fabulous I can’t even! Say “you sure know how to make the old girl swoon” to your beau and watch him or her crumble under your charm!! You’re welcome!
Oh yes, there are certainly some winners listed above, and I urge all of you to work them into your daily vernacular. And if the haters question them and the man gets you down, you just send them Lil Red’s way! 😉 While you mull over these phrases, here’s some tunes for you to enjoy!
So what are some quirky, fun, and fabulous phrases that you like to pepper your vocabulary with? I’d love to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Have a great night! -Sarah
Hey! Good news, I’M ON SPRING BREAK!! But unfortunately, it doesn’t feel like spring quite yet in good ol’ Akron, Ohio (#represent) because there’s still an ungodly amount of snow on the ground. -___- Luckily, it’s warming up a little bit so fingers crossed that all of the snow blanketing my homeland will melt away pronto! All I want to do is wear a dress without tights, is that too much to ask for?! My sister Kristen and I went on a walk yesterday at one of Ohio’s lovely hiking trails the Beaver Marsh, and it was basically like trekking through the tundra. We were out of breath, tired, and slightly damp from throwing snowballs at each other…but we managed! Here’s a few PicStitch collages that I created of our excursion:
Now you guys might be thinking “that looks so pretty and picturesque!” But I’m thinking “this snow better fucking melt ASAP before I loose my mind.” I’m experiencing spring fever like no other and the only prescription is green grass and sunshine. Akron is truly a winter wonderland of AWFUL right now and I’m so over it it hurts! I have hella homework to finish up before I can fully enjoy my break of sitting around and doing nothing, so like I mentioned in my last post, I’ll be M.I.A. minus a few short and sweet entries. So this is me checking in and wishing you all a fantastic day! This is also me procrastinating a little bit before I buckle down and do some math homework….at least I’m honest! OH btw, I got the first math test we took back today and I got a B!!!! I’ll take it! YAY SARAH!
Well, I must be off, so I will talk to you all very soon! But before I go, what’s the weather like where you’re at right now? If it’s sunny and warm, I’m jealous of you by default. Do any of you have any wild spring break plans? I’d love to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
PS: My featured image is a lovely view of my sister from behind! Nice ass! 😉
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! One more week of class and then Lil Red is on spring break! My first spring break as a college student! :’) I don’t have any fancy or exciting plans, but that’s okay because a break is a break is a break. I suppose I do have some plans, that is if sleeping, eating lots of Taco Bell, and binge watching Netflix counts as plans. But that all sounds pretty pathetic….so I guess I plan on being pathetic – and I’m SO okay with that! Mama needs it! Not too much is new and crazy, but I do have some fun pictures to share with you guys while I take a break from stupid math homework. (Speaking of math, I’m doing shockingly good in my class! All of the stuff I’m learning right now is SO much easier than I remember it being in high school, thank gawd!) Yesterday I had a beautiful afternoon hanging out with my friend, Neva whom I’m sure you guys know all about from previous posts about her. Of course we had to take a selfie, so here’s us being fabulous divas as usual:
I love her :*) Seeing Miss Neva yesterday was a real treat, because she drew a lovely portrait of me! Neva loves art, specifically drawing and painting and she’s wanted to do a picture of me for forever, so yesterday we finally sat down and she drew me! It was so sweet, and I was all smiles the whole time. Once she finishes painting it, I’ll be sure to post a picture for your viewing pleasure. It was a much needed afternoon of girl talk and good old fashioned tom foolery. We had an absolute ball! 🙂
After a fun visit with my BFF, I had some hang out time at home before I headed over to Ramon’s (my sisters boyfriends) house to watch the season three premiere of The Following with them. The premiere was fantastic, as I expected and of course Kevin Bacon was looking fine as hell! ME-OW! Whenever I’m the third wheel to my favorite couple, cuteness always seems to happen between Kristen and Ramon. I decided to capture this first hand, as well as a disgusted reaction from myself. 😉
^^^ FOREVER ALONE FACE!!!!!! Hahaha, they’re so precious, and I’m so single – but that’s a-okay with me because as the saying goes: “I’m a strong, independent woman who don’t need NO man!” This pic has become an instant classic on Facebook and the source of hysterical laughter for me and Kristen. #foreveralone #singleandsomewhatreadytomingle
I may be M.I.A. for a bit this week because I have quite a bit done before I can finally settle down for my break next week. However, I’ll try and post as often as I can, even if it’s just something short and sweet like today! OH and good news! Remember how I told you guys that my computer broke and I’ve had to use a super shitty old computer for homework and blogging? WELL, my computer got fixed and it’s ready to be picked up, so Lil Red will no longer be tearing out her beloved locks out of frustration! Huzzah!
Alright crew, I hope you have a fabulous rest of your day! Did any of you guys watch the season premiere of The Following? What did you think of it? I’d love to hear from you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Hey there and happy March!!! Spring is on the horizon and I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for it! Especially considering it’s going to snow all day in good ol’ Akron, Ohio. -____- As of late I’ve been enjoying some great movies, literature, and music that I’d love to share with you. There’s also one heinous excuse for a film that I must warn you about, so let’s get started!!
Watch St. Vincent: I watched this fantastically sweet movie last night with my parents and I loved every minute of it. St. Vincent was a classic “grumpy old man with a sensitive side underneath it all” film starring Bill Murray who was quite phenomenal. (He was nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars for his performance.) The sensitive side to Vincent is brought out by a number of people and situations throughout the film including his new neighbors Maggie (Melissa McCarthy) and her young son Oliver (Jaeden Lieberher), the lady of the night Daka (Naomi Watts), and his Alzheimer ridden wife Sandy (Donna Mitchell). The all star cast all give inspiring performances. I was pleasantly surprised that Melissa McCarthy was able to pull off a serious roll and young Jaeden Lieberher was sweet as can be. Usually I’m not fond of child actors, but he was just adorable and not annoying in the slightest. And can we please just talk about Naomi Watts as Daka?! Between her prostitute-y hair and makeup and her thick Russian accent, I didn’t even realize it was her until my mom told me! She nailed it. In the classic storyline with a twist, St. Vincent truly showed that you can’t judge a book by its cover. The film was the perfect combination of serious and pure fun and I can’t recommend it enough.
DO NOT WATCH Before I Go To Sleep: I’m sure you guys will recall that I absolutely loved the book Before I Go To Sleep from previous posts. I still hold true to my statement that this book was infinitely better than the popular Gone Girl. I was extremely excited to hear that one of my favorites was made into a movie starring the lovely Nicole Kidman and the hotty mchothot Colin Firth. I’ve been looking forward to watching this film for a while now and was so happy when my mom brought it home from the library yesterday. Eager to see my favorite book on the big screen (more like eighteen inch TV screen, but same difference) I popped the movie into the DVD player and was ready to be taken away into the creepy confusing world described in the book. To bring you up to speed if you’re not familiar with the storyline, Before I Go To Sleep tells the tale of Christine, a woman who experienced horrible trauma causing her memory to erase every night when she falls asleep. The movie started out okay for about ten minutes, and then everything went downhill. The movie was absolutely NOTHING like the book. Important facts were altered or removed completely and the acting of Kidman and Firth was sub par at best. Quite frankly, I’ve seen Lifetime movies that were better than this. If you read the book and enjoyed it as much as I did, don’t bother watching the movie because I give you the Lil Red Guarantee that you will absolutely hate it. If you have never read the book and are thinking about watching it, DON’T DO IT! It sucked and you’re welcome for saving you an hour and a half of your life. 🙂
^^SHAMEFUL!
Read Dad Is Fat: Lol, if you’re familiar with the extremely pale comedian Jim Gaffigan, you’ll know that this is his memoir to all things parenting. Gaffigan has a herd of five small equally as pale offspring and Dad Is Fat includes stories, tips, observations, and just pure silliness about his adventures as a parent. Usually I’m not one for reading books penned by celebrities and I’m also not fond of reading comedic books but when my brother was home a few weeks ago he brought Dad Is Fat with him (which I actually bought for him) in case I wanted to read it. He told me it was hilarious so I accepted the book to maybe read at a later time. That time came sooner than I thought, after I finished the last book I was reading The Rosie Effect in a whopping three days. (The Rosie Effect was the sequel to The Rosie Project and it was simply delightful! Definitely give the series a try, you’ll be glad you did!) Anyways, I was completely out of things to read so I begrudgingly picked up Dad Is Fat and was instantly in stitches. If you’re looking for something lighthearted and lots of fun, give this goofy memoir a try. You’ll be in laughing hysterics the whole time!
Give The Rosie Series A Try: As I mentioned above, I recently finished the much anticipated sequel to The Rosie Project, The Rosie Effect. The Rosie books tell the story of calculated, scientific, and socially awkward Don and his quest to find true love. The books never go right out and say that Don is on the autism spectrum, but you can easily deduce through the context clues that he indeed is on the spectrum. Don’s life is turned upside down in the first book when he finds himself falling in love with the outgoing and outspoken Rosie, who is literally his polar opposite. In the sequel which I really enjoyed, we find our cute couple enjoying married life until a major shock happens…Rosie is pregnant! The Rosie Effect follows the hilarious and at times heartbreaking moments in Don’s every day life. New friendships are made with eccentric characters even in the midst of a marital rough patch. Blame it on the hormones, I guess?! Can Don and Rosie salvage their relationship in time for their new baby? I guess you’re gonna have to find out!
Listen To Tom Vek: I know that I’ve mentioned Tom Vek before, but he’s slowly but surely becoming one of my favorite artists, so I figured I’d mention him again. I’m so obsessed with his album Leisure Seizure, I seriously can’t even. Vek has this amazing ability to make his voice drone on and on but still sound completely amazing. His music is moody, melancholy, and I can’t get enough. His monotonous voice is the definition of complete angst and all of his songs sound so mechanical and cool. It’s rare for me to hear an album and enjoy every song, but Leisure Seizure defies those odds, delivering hits track after track. I would put videos for the entire album on here, but I’ll leave it up to you guys to find more of his music if you like him. Here’s a few tracks that I really enjoy to get you started:
So there you have it, my Lil Red Recommends – Entertainment Edition! Have you guys read any of the books or watched any of the films I mentioned? What did you think of them? I’d love to hear from you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Happy Sunday! -Sarah
So! A little known fact about Lil Red is that on the rare occasion that I feel like it, I can cook! This doesn’t happen often, but when it does, I’ve been known to make a pretty bangin meal. Today is a special occasion because my oldest brother, Peter (who lives in Wisconsin) will be home for an entire week because he’s going to be laying down some chemical engineering knowledge at a local college. #boygenius Because I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks, I decided to make a family dinner….apparently excitement makes me want to cook. Go figure. Anyways, I whipped up some Chinese stir fry for the fam this evening and it turned out fabulous. Chinese is always a good option for my family because half of us (including myself) are vegetarian, so there’s a lot of tasty meat free choices to pick from. I normally never take pictures of my food, but I was so proud of this meal that I just had to, so here’s the final result:
Preparing this meal honestly wasn’t hard at all, it just took some time management to finish all of the dishes at the same time. Here’s a list of all of the dishes made by yours truly tonight:
Top Right – Sesame Tofu Stir Fry: This mix included hokkien noodles, steamed snow peas, and tofu with a sesame sauce. I just kind of free styled this one.
Bottom Right – Sweet & Sour Stir Fry: A fantastic mix from Aldi’s was used for this dish. Snow peas, carrots, red pepper, pineapple, and sauce were in this mix. I added the hokkien noodles to this as well to make it a bit more filling.
Middle – Steamed Snow Peas
Top Left – Brown Rice
Bottom Left – Vegetable Spring Rolls
Dinner was a success and my whole family really enjoyed it! I guess I should start cooking more often! Today has been wonderful. School this morning was boring as usual, but I actually learned a lot which was fun, I got tons of homework done this afternoon, and my brother should be home any minute now! There’s only one song that can give the fantastic mood I’m in justice, and it goes a little something like this….
Hahahaha ^^^^ SO, this weekend my mom and I were driving around running errands and she happens to have Sirius radio in her car. There’s a great station on Sirius called “80’s on 8” which plays all of the beloved one hit wonders of the 80’s. Wang Chung’s “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” played when we were in the car and we almost died laughing over the lyric “everybody Wang Chung tonight.” Ever since this past weekend my momma and I have been quoting it, and it’s obviously become our new favorite. EVERYBODY WANG CHUNG TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!! #loveit
Alright guys, I hope you have a fabulous night doing whatever it is that you’re doing! I know I will – Brother/sister time is on the horizon! What’s your favorite meal to cook? What are some of your favorite vegetarian recipes? I’d love to hear from you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
