Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Smolder

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Smolder

Helloooo! My sister recently bequeathed her Urban Decay Naked palettes onto me, so we are going to go through the Naked 2 and Smoky palettes and swatch some of my favorite colors. Today, we are going to look at one of the standout shades from the Smoky palette – a lovely deep purple called Smolder. Take a gander at these pics and let’s discuss:

^^^ The first heart is the eyeshadow when its wet and the second one is when its dry.

As we all know, I don’t change it up very often when it comes to my eye makeup. I like what I like, I know what shades work for me, and I stick to them like glue. However, one shade that I do like to apply when I’m feeling saucy is purple. Not ultra bright or metallic purple, but a nice, deep shade like the one seen above. Anything too bright looks crazy with my hair, and Smolder is just right. The dark, smoky shade makes my hazel eyes change to green, as purple and green are complimentary colors, and I love using it to make my peepers pop.

What I also like about Smolder is that the purple becomes really evident when the lighting is good. As you can see from the pictures, the eyeshadow looks almost brown in my yellow-ish bathroom lighting. But, as soon as the flash came on, you could really see that sexy, smoldering purple, which is a fun surprise. So, in a darker setting like a candle lit dinner, you get a delicious chocolate brown and, as soon as the flickering candles catch your eyes, you get a striking jewel tone. So cool!

What is your favorite shade of eyeshadow to wear? Which color compliments your eyes the best? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New(ish) Urban Decay Naked Palettes

New(ish) Urban Decay Naked Palettes

Hiii! On Thanksgiving, I was in for a treat because my sister had some hand me down makeup palettes for me. Kristen is a makeup guru and loves shopping Sephora and Ulta for high end cosmetics. Although there are a few things from Sephora that I couldn’t live without, I tend to stick to the drugstore brands, myself. So, it’s always extra special when Kristen has some makeup that she’s ready to part with because that means I get to reap the rewards! Take a look at my New(ish) Urban Decay Naked Palettes and let’s discuss:

Smoky Palette:

Naked 2 Palette:

naked4naked5naked6

When it comes to eyeshadow, I wear a minimal amount, at best. I stick to the colors that I like and that’s about it. I don’t know how to cut crease, I’m not the best blender, and doing a proper smoky eye? Forget about it! But, that’s what is going to make having these palettes a lot of fun because I can play around and practice. Plus, having actual makeup brushes instead of Q-tips will be sure to help, too!

Obviously, I’m partial to the Naked 2 palette, because I love gold, bronze, and pink colors on my eyes. In fact, if I felt the urge to spend a decent amount of coin on a palette, this would probably be the one that I would purchase. So, having the Naked 2 palette is nice because all of the shades are basically old standbys. Although, I like to think that I have the drugstore dupe of this palette, already. The Elf Nude Rose Gold palette is an excellent compromise for a ten dollar price tag and I love using it! If you are a fan of the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, definitely check the Elf dupe out if you’re not looking to spend a lot of cash.

And, as far as the Smoky palette goes…. Well, it will be a learning experience. I actually quite like all of the colors in it, it’s just going to be more of a matter of applying them well. I rarely wear darker colors on my eyelids, so I’m not really sure what it will look like but, I’m kind of excited to try it out. I don’t even think that I would give this palette a second look in stores, so it was nice that Kristen gave it to me so I can test out some new MOTDs!

In the next few daily posts, I’ll be highlighting some of my favorite colors from each palette so keep your eyes out for that!

Which colors would you like to see swatched from my new(ish) palettes? Do you have a favorite palette or eyeshadow brand? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Clinique Chubby Stick In Woppin’ Watermelon Swatch

Clinique Chubby Stick In Woppin’ Watermelon Swatch

Hi everyone! Yesterday, I got to show off my freebie haul from Sephora and, I’ve got to say, I’m still basking in the glory of that purchase. Money well spent, amiright?! The product that we are swatching today was compliments of my five hundred point Beauty Insider gift – a goodie box of Clinique products. At first, I was pretty ambivalent about their chubby stick balm in Woppin’ Watermelon. But, after swatching it and putting it on before I showered it off for good measure, I’m a fan. Check it out:

water1waterwater2water3

When I first inspected this balm out of its package, I wondered why the heck whomever was in charge picked that truly watermelon pink color. Surely they know that that shade doesn’t look good on everyone (Especially me!), right? Lil Red never rocks pink lips and, mind you, it’s not because I don’t want to – it’s because pink lipstick looks like ass on me. Truth. So, I figured that I would just give this balm to my sister, because pink suits her really well.

I had every intention of giving this to Kristen, until I swatched it for this post, that is. Because, upon swatching, I realized that the chubby stick left very little of that shocking pink pigment on. Rather, it was more like a gloss with the tiniest hint of pink to it. After seeing that on my hand, I was interested to see what it would look like on my lips and, I’ll be damned, because it actually looked alright on me!

Woppin’ Watermelon left my lips with a slightly more pink color and a glossy shine that looked very sweet and simple. It might not necessarily be the best shade for winter, but it will be darling in the spring and summer time. I liked how moisturized the balm left my lips feeling, too, even if it was only on for a handful of minutes! Lil Red never thinks pink, but, I guess it’s okay just this once. 😉

What is your favorite brand of lipstick, gloss, or balms? Which type of lip product do you prefer to wear? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Blush, Baby – Maybelline’s Dream Bouncy Swatch In Candy Coral

Blush, Baby – Maybelline’s Dream Bouncy Swatch In Candy Coral

HELLOOOOOOO! Having a sister is awesome because, other than having a built in BFF, you basically get to double your collection of makeup and clothing. Am I the best at sharing said makeup and clothing? Not always, but that’s neither here nor there. Whenever I’m not really using a product anymore, I always send it Kristen’s way and she does the same for me. Take the blush that you see below, for example. I gave it to Kristen and, probably one year later, she gave it back to me. So, now that it’s back in my possession, you can check out the swatch:

coralcoral1coral2

My favorite non powder blush is definitely the Dream Bouncy collection by Maybelline. It’s creamy, goes on easily, and the pigments are always lovely. Shade 30, Candy Coral, is an underrated member of the Dream Bouncy crew, because it’s not the typical pink or brown blush. But, there’s nothing wrong with trying something a little different, especially when it’s so darn pretty!

Candy Coral is a good layering blush to make whatever shade you put over top of it really pop. It also is the perfect option for a no makeup makeup look if you rock it solo. It has just enough shine and oomph to it that it still takes a natural MOTD to next level fierce. Is this color absolutely necessary in your makeup arsenal? Perhaps not, but it is fun to have and it certainly brightens things up on a no makeup or full face day.

Do you use a cream or powder blush? What is your preferred blush color? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sephora Golden Hour Highlighter In Dusk Swatch

Sephora Golden Hour Highlighter In Dusk Swatch

Yo! Back in March, I tried out my first highlighter from Sephora. I used my Beauty Insider points to get a mini Becca highlighter in Opal during one of my orders. I’ve been using my highlighter for the past five months and am just about finished with it. And, five months isn’t bad at all for a mini product! While picking up my Mistress Hair Balm by IGK, I decided to get a new highlighter, too. I ended up with a Sephora brand one for a multitude of reasons, but price was definitely the main factor. Take a look and let’s discuss:

duskdusk1dusk2dusk3dusk4dusk5

^^^ The alternating pictures are with the flash off and the flash on, so you can see the illumination of the highlighter.

Originally, I had planned on getting another Becca highlighter. I really liked the shade that I was using and, if I was feeling saucy enough, maybe I would try a different one. But, then I realized that one of their highlighters costed thirty-five dollars and I said hell no. That would be the most that I’ve ever spend on a makeup product before and I just wasn’t comfortable with it.

I asked one of the workers if she could show me some of the different highlighters that the brands had and, everything but the Sephora brand, which ran for sixteen dollars, was upwards of thirty bucks. So, the Sephora brand it was. I liked that the color I went with, Dusk, was lighter than the shade that I’ve been using. Opal was nice and warm, which was perfect for summer. But, Dusk is cooler and more subdued, which is going to be lovely for the fall and winter months ahead.

I did like a lot of the more expensive highlighters that were shown to me, but I’m glad that I stuck to my guns and went with the cheapest option. I feel guilt free about my purchase and I definitely think that I would be feeling buyer’s remorse if I bought a thirty-five dollar highlighter. I’m looking forward to playing with my Sephora highlighter once I finish my Becca one in its entirety and will have to take some pictures to show you guys the makeup goods when I can! 😀

What is the most expensive beauty product you own? What about the least expensive? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Givenchy Le Rouge Liquide Swatch In L’Interdit

Givenchy Le Rouge Liquide Swatch In L’Interdit

Helloooo! On this wonderful Monday, we are going to chit chat about the next color in my Givenchy Le Rouge Liquide sample pack called L’Interdit. Although this shade of red has more blue undertones than I would care for, it’s still pretty all the same. And, like me, I’m sure that all of you will either like it or you don’t with no inbetweens. Take a look and let’s discuss:

givenchy1givenchy2givenchy3givenchyyy

I was actually really excited about this color while it was in its little pod because, before application, it looked like a lovely and bright red. But, unfortunately once it came out of its container, it was way too subdued and, frankly, kind of blah for my liking. I feel like this color is a shade that we’ve all seen before, and there was nothing new or exciting that Givenchy added to the table. A little brightness, for example, would certainly go a long way in making this shade pop.

Tomorrow, we will talk about the last color in my Givenchy sample pack, Rouge Suedine, and hopefully it will wow me, because this has overall been a pretty lackluster swatching experience!

What is your favorite shade of red lipstick? How do you create a perfect pout? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Givenchy Le Rouge Liquide Swatch In Rose Flanelle

Givenchy Le Rouge Liquide Swatch In Rose Flanelle

Hello everyone! I hope that all of you are having a wonderful weekend so far! Today, we are going to talk about the absolutely awesome free sample that I got from shopping Sephora – three different colored dollops of Givenchy’s Le Rouge Liquide. It even came with its own application wand! As you can tell by its name, this collection is all about shades of red, which is right up my alley. But, we’re going to talk about a more pinky shade today. Take a look at Rose Flanelle and let’s discuss:

givenchy1givenchy3givenchy2givenchy4

The first thing that I will say about this product is that I think that the advertising for it is all wrong. The tagline is “The couture twist for soft matte lips”, but this lippie is a gloss through and through. There really is nothing matte about it. It went on shiny, it stayed shiny, it remained wet after a half hour, and it was slightly sticky to the touch. So, if you are looking for a true matte lip color, then I would not recommend Le Rouge Liquide.

BUT, if you are looking for a really pretty pink gloss, then I would definitely recommend Le Rouge Liquide in Rose Flanelle. Not only does this watermelon pink color look delicious, but it smells it, too! This product smells so sugary sweet and even though its semi sticky, it came off of my hands with one swipe of a towel with water on it, which is super sweet in itself!

Even though I am not the biggest pink or gloss girl in the world, I would be willing to try this color with a more simple eye makeup. A little bit of the color went a long way for this swatch so I will still have a lot more to play with in my sample. So fun! 😀

Are you a matte or gloss girl? Would you still buy this product even though it’s not a true matte as advertised? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Sephora Cream Lipstick Swatch In The Red

Sephora Cream Lipstick Swatch In The Red

Hi everyone and TGIF! Today we are going to swatch the lippie that I got in my Sephora Play! box, which is by Sephora’s own brand. In this post, we’re just going to swatch the cream lipstick called The Red. But, as per request of some of my readers, there will be a future post with a review on the quality of the product when it’s actually on. I haven’t heard the best things about the Sephora brand products, so we’ll see what happens. And, we all know that I prefer a matte finish so I’ll be dragging my feet to wear it until I’m totally out of post ideas! Lol! But, for now, take a look at some swatch pics and let’s discuss:

theredthered1thered2thered3

My first impression of this lipstick was that it had a really good application. It glided onto my hand smoothly and it washed off easily with some micellar water. My second impression, unfortunately, was that this lippie was not going to look very good on me. The Red seems to have a lot of The Blue undertones to it, which clashes really badly with my hair. My red hair has a distinctive orange undertone to it, so this lippie would look super clown like on me. Not a good look!

Will I give The Red a try solely to satisfy my readers? Of course! Will I be thrilled about it? Naw, that ain’t me, dawg. But, I love you all so much that I’ll do it anyways! ❤ ❤ ❤

What is your favorite shade of lipstick? How do you feel about Sephora brand products? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Too Faced Melted Matte Lip Paint Swatch In Queen B

Too Faced Melted Matte Lip Paint Swatch In Queen B

Howdy! Today, we are going to be discussing Too Faced’s new line of lip paints called the Melted Matte collection. Melted Matte meaning, that it has an opaque finish but offers moisture via avocado and Vitamin E oil to prevent over drying your lips. I got the shade Queen B FO FREE when I restocked my Better Than Sex mascara. Although the formula doesn’t move me spiritually because it is definitely not budge free, the color is still very pretty. Take a look:

meltmelt1melt2melt3melt4melt5

As I said, the deep, dusty rose shade Queen B is lovely. It was also the best color to give as a freebie, because it looks good on literally everyone. However, I’ve never been truly blown away by any of the lip products by Too Faced. It’s crazy, because the mini lip paint that I got by them as my birthday gift from Sephora last year was awesome. The shade was gorgeous and it never ever budged. But, even just grazing my finger over the swatch on my hand when it dried brought significant smudging. Am I mad about it? No. But, I don’t think that I will bother with their lip paints anymore.

Even though my reviews for the Melted Matte style lippie isn’t the best, I’m not going to not use it. I like the color and I’m okay with vigilantly checking for lipstick smudges. But, at the end of the day, you guys already know that I’d take my favorite NYX matte lippies any day of the week!

Have any products disappointed you lately? Which brands do you avoid buying from? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bite Beauty Lip Crayon Swatch In Glace

Bite Beauty Lip Crayon Swatch In Glace

Hi! As promised, today we are going to swatch the second gift from my Sephora birthday freebie – their lip crayon in Glace! The swatching experience for this lippie was an unfortunate one, because after I snapped my pictures, I dropped the crayon on my white carpet. :((((( It was a hot mess, but a blogger’s job is never easy, so let’s get on with the show:

glaceglace1glace2

As described in yesterday’s post, this lip crayon by Bite definitely has a minty smell to it, which certainly makes for a different sensation when wearing a lipstick! As disappointed at myself as I am for dropping this on the carpet, I think that Glace is a lovely shade. It doesn’t have as glossy of a look to it as yesterday’s swatch did, which I like a lot, because I am a matte girl at heart.

This lip crayon is especially nice, because the size of it doesn’t feel like a mini one at all, as opposed to the itty bitty lipstick from yesterday. It’s cool that a huge company like Sephora genuinely wants to pamper their costumers on their big day, because this crayon will definitely last for a good long while. But, then again, who am I to talk considering I’ve only finished one tube of lipstick in my entire life! :’D

Do you prefer matte or glossy lip colors? What is your favorite brand that Sephora carries? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
