Revlon Balm Stain Swatch In Crush

Revlon Balm Stain Swatch In Crush

Hey everyone and happy Monday! There were a few winners in my hand me down makeup haul from my sister. Others were…ehh not so much. Including the product being swatched today. Wow, great intro I know – BUT the only reason why this Revlon Balm Stain isn’t an enthusiastic maybe from me is because I. Don’t. Do. Purple! HOWEVER, I am not everyone so, of course, I had to give this product a swatch for the lucky ladies who can rock a purple lip! Take a look:

I’ve owned a few Revlon matte lipsticks in the chubby shape, and have been pretty indifferent about them. The color is alright, but I always found that the product didn’t have a lot of longevity on the lips and it seemed to smear throughout the day. Not a good look. To elaborate on that further, this product wiped off almost instantly with a wet cloth so eating or drinking anything with this on is a definite no no. BUT, the nice thing about this balm stain is that it smells super minty, which is a fun bonus. 😀

Despite not being wild about how this balm stain works, I am a little disappointed that purple doesn’t look good on me. I think that this shade is SO pretty! The muddled blueberry color is really lovely. I do like berry shades with a red undertone to it, but this one is just so powerfully purple that I looked a hot mess when I was feeling saucy enough to see what it looked like on my lips. #notdoingthatagain!

In my opinion, there are definitely better balm stains available, but this Revlon shade sure is pretty and would make a nice pop of color to a more neutral makeup look.

Has anyone used any of the chubby shaped Revlon lip products before? What are your thoughts on them? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Estee Lauder “Candy” Lipstick Swatch

Howdy! Over Thanksgiving, my sister brought me a lipstick that she didn’t want by Estee Lauder. My sister, Kristen, is far more adventurous than I am with makeup, so it’s always fun when she brings me some of her rejects to try, because I would never buy it for myself. I’m not sure if I would ever use this sparkly, purple-pink shade, but it sure is pretty! Take a look:

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not huge on pink lipstick. However, I liked that this shade seemed to have a more purple base to it, which made the pink not so overpowering. And, what girl doesn’t love a bit of sparkle when it comes to makeup? I loved the red L’Oreal lipstick that I got a while back ago with glitter in it, so I figured that it was worth it to give this Candy color a shot, even if it is a bit out of my comfort zone.

This shade is one that I can’t picture myself wearing around on a daily basis. I feel like I need just the right outfit to pull this color off and I can see myself wearing it with something navy blue or even an oversized flannel to glam up a tomboy look. I think that I’m going to test drive it with one of my favorite navy blue peacoats from ModCloth and we’ll see what happens! Fingers crossed!

What is a lipstick color that would push you out of your comfort zone? How would you incorporate this Estee Lauder shade into your makeup routine? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Elf Palette Faves #1

Elf Palette Faves #1

Hiiii everyone and TGIF! Okay, so this Wednesday I introduced you guys to my New(ish) Elf Nude Rose Gold Palette and I wanted to share a few of my fan favorites with all of you. Unfortunately, I don’t know the names of any of these colors SO I’LL MAKE THEM UP MYSELF. Ayyy! Let me introduce you all to SPARKLING EGGPLANT lololol:

Sparkling Eggplant is the last color on the right in my palette. This is my favorite color out of the ten. I love the purple-y, mauve color and the fact that this shade has some glitter thrown in for good measure makes me like it even more. I prefer to wear Sparkling Eggplant (It never gets old!) as an eyeliner and I wet my brush to give it the appearance of the second heart seen above.

My eyes are hazel and frequently change colors from brown to green or gold depending on the lighting and what makeup I’m using. The purple hue of this eyeshadow brings about green eyes, which I love. To complete this look, I like to use one of the shell pink colors in the corner of my eyes with one of the browns or mauves in the palette across the lid. I then blend these together for a purple haze, smokey look – which sounds a lot better than my makeup skills allot for!

So there you have it, the first of my Elf Palette Faves! How do you use makeup to play up your eye color? How would you name this color from my palette? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
