Sorry, Sis ;)

During my weekend trip to Wisconsin, I may or may not have played a stupidly funny prank on my beloved sister, Kristen. And for that, I am publicly apologizing. Kristen drove the first two or so hours home from Wisconsin on Sunday, and during that time I was manning her phone to reply to the texts that she received. She’s been talking to a new guy recently, and it was my responsibility to type everything out to him that she dictated to me….Bad idea on her part. When he asked what Kristen was up to, my sister told me to text him “driving home! yay!” and unfortunately I heard “driving home! gay!” When I heard “gay” I thought to myself “hmm, that’s an odd way to describe driving home” so I asked her to repeat it three times and every single time, I heard “gay” so into the text it went. To spruce the message up even more I also added “and I really have to go to the bathroom :((((” to the message and hit Send. I straight up told Kristen that I added her bathroom issue to the text (which was more like my bathroom issue, because I really had to go!), and she didn’t believe me! Smh. When we stopped for food and she looked through her phone, she saw the text I sent that she thought I was kidding about, and got a bit upset at Lil Red. Once we got back on the road again, my mom took over driving so Kristen got back into the backseat with me. She was still pissed at me, even though I told her what I texted him, so after snacking on hella Flamin Hot Cheeto’s, I decided to write her a story on my iPod to make her laugh and to pass the time. I emailed myself the story, and I am now going to share it with you guys:

A short story of a very naughty thing:

Once upon a time there were two sisters, named Kristen and Sarah, respectively. During their journey home from a weekend adventure in America’s cheese land, the younger of the girls, Sarah did a very naughty thing. While the elder, Kristen drove the whip through the Chicago traffic, she received a text message from a potential love interest. For the fear of our personal safety, I manned her phone so I could text the messages to the young man as dictated by Kristen. When mister man asked what Kristen was up to, the reply I texted was not necessarily the same as what was said to me. Instead of texting “driving home, yay!” I accidentally typed “driving home. Gay. And I have to go to the bathroom :(((” in my defense, when she said “yay” it sounded a lot like “gay” and I for one, really had to go potty. I told Kristen what I had texted and she thought I was kidding. But guess what…I wasn’t. When Kristen saw what I texted she was most upset, and I feared for my life. After her round of driving, Kristen returned to the back seat of the car with me, and I tried my best to win her friendship back and humbly apologize for my wrong doings. We bonded over flaming hot Cheeto residue and she delivered one swift punch to my arm. And now I think we are friends again. The end.

^^^ Needless to say, Kristen was dying of laughter as she read my short story and we are now most definitely friends again! Sorry for being an asshole, sis! (Even though it was still kinda funny) I love you! 😉

^^^ SHE’S SO CUTE!!!!

Hahahahaha. Kristen and I both found the situation insanely funny after she punched me, so I thought it would be fun to share this goofy story with all of you! What was the silliest thing you did to pass the time during a long trip? Do you have a story of a text message gone wrong that trumps mine? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Nail Tech Love!

Helloooo everyone and happy Hump Day! So as you guys know, I have a deep love for my acrylic nails which are really more like talons than nails. And as you guys also know, I have a deep love for my beloved nail tech – the man who makes it all possible, my boo thang: VINNY!!! Last time I got my nails filled he sharpened the talons to perfection and gave me my usual black nails with two white accent ones. They turned out flawless! Take a look:

pronails

^^^ OBSESSED. #pronails #teamvinny

I usually get my nails filled every three weeks at 1:30 on Thursday like clockwork. But last Thursday I stayed at school in Cleveland later than usual to get some tutoring, so I called up Vinny as I left campus to make sure that he could still see me by the time I got there. Of course he told me that he would make all the time in the world for me! He also asked me to get him his usual 5/5 White Lightening from the Starbucks down the street from the salon, which I was more than happy to do! While stopped at a red light, I checked my phone and he texted me saying that I didn’t have to pay for my nails today since I was buying him his coffee. SO SWEET. Vinny already won’t let me tip him, so he was spoiling me completely rotten. Once I got to the salon, he was outside waiting for me and smoking a cigarette because he says I make him nervous, haha! My favorite thing about going to Vinny to get my nails done (other than the fact that he’s a dear friend and our conversations are fabulous), is that he really takes his time fixing up my talons so that they always end up perfect. He always spends an hour or more filling, sharpening, and painting them and it’s so nice to take that time out of my day to get pampered. And let me tell you, he did a bang up job on the sharpening this last time…the following day I accidentally scratched my cheek while I was putting a shirt on and my nails were so sharp that they left an unsightly red streak on my cheek for the entire day, I swear, they’re like the more fashionable version of carrying around pepper spray! No one should mess with Lil Red! This morning I woke up to a text from my sweet Vinny, which read:

“If I have to scale mountains, endure torture, and defeat ninjas with my kung fu – nothing can prevent me from texting you :)”

Well let me tell you, Vinny…the feeling is one hundred percent mutual! I love you!

I hope all of you guys are having a wonderful day so far! Do any of you have a hair stylist or nail tech that goes above and beyond for you? What shape do you get your acrylics in? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

The Used Concert!!!!!

The Used Concert!!!!!

Heyyy everyone! I hope you’re all having a fabulous Sunday! So as you know, last night I went to see The Used in Cleveland with my sister Kristen and it was absolutely AMAZING!!!! I got Kristen the tickets for her 23rd birthday in April and we had the best time ever!!! I’ll start off the post with some pictures from the show, and then I’ll discuss our incredible concert experience!

IMG_2767[1]IMG_2852[1]IMG_2850[1]IMG_2853[1]IMG_2773[1]IMG_2788[1]IMG_2834[1]IMG_2774[1]

^^^ Note that the last picture posted is of Every Time I Die who opened the show!

All of yesterday I was seriously so excited I could barely concentrate. Kristen got home from work around 4:30 and we arrived in Cleveland about an hour later. We found a parking garage and then went to wait in the line to get into the House of Blues because the doors opened at six for the show to start at seven. The House of Blues is a pretty intimate venue, and as you can tell by the pictures, Kristen and I were very close to the stage – which was awesome! We had a great view of the entire show, and I couldn’t have been happier about it. It was so cool to feel like you could literally reach out and touch the band members and it was amazing to see all of their expressions and instrument playing so clearly. I wore my concert going Vera Wang wedges so that I wouldn’t have to worry about not seeing anything because I’m a shorty. Kristen opted for more sensible (and still cute!) black tennies, so she stood in front of me so we could both have a clear line of vision to the stage. It worked out perfectly, and sucks to suck for anyone standing behind my fake-tall self thanks to my wedges! There were three opening bands before The Used went on, and quite frankly the first two sucked ass. I honestly don’t even remember the names of the bands and I really don’t care. But Every Time I Die who was on before The Used fucking killed it! I’ve heard of them before, but I’ve never heard their music so I was very excited to finally experience it. And what better way to hear the band for the first time than seeing them live?! They blew their performance out of the water. Every Time I Die definitely falls under the screamo category of music, which I happen to really like! As soon as the band ran on stage things started getting rowdy in the audience, but all of the pushing and shoving just added to the experience. I’ve never been to a show that would fall into the emo or punk genre so it was way fun being able to head bang and jump around with all of the concert goers. I definitely plan on listening to Every Time I Die again, and if you haven’t heard of them I highly recommend you check them out!!! After another twenty minutes, The Used finally came on and Kristen and I were freaking out! The moment that we were waiting for for the past four or so hours was finally here and we were so happy!!! I’ll never forget watching Kristen sing along with so much enthusiasm and I cherish the times when she would squeeze my hand with excitement. I loved watching her have a good time – especially since it was her birthday celebration! Their set list for the night was filled with old favorites like The Taste Of Ink, I Caught Fire, Take It Away, and All That I’ve Got just to name a few. I have no shame in admitting that I totally cried during The Taste Of Ink…I seriously couldn’t help it. I’ve listened to that song on repeat countless times during a bad day and to hear it live was so special to me. It was so much fun to listen to Burt talk throughout the show as well! First of all, he’s drop dead gorgeous. Second of all, he’s hilarious! Our favorite Burt-ism of the night was when he was introducing Pretty Handsome Awkward by saying “this is a song about how fucking special I think I am”. We were dying!! We both purchased the same shirt after the show, which I wanted to buy for her but she wouldn’t let me! The shirt is dope! It’s black with The Used in red and in white there’s a picture of a coffin with a broken up skeleton on the inside and underneath that it says “I Buried Myself Alive”. Love it. We both are wearing it today and it’s the first time we’ve matched clothing since we were little kids! Saying that Kristen and I had a blast is a severe understatement and I’m sure she’ll agree with me when I say that it was the best night we’ve had in ages. My sister’s birthday celebration was a success and I’m so happy that she enjoyed herself. One of my favorite parts of the night was her thanking me and telling me that she had fun – I felt like such a champ and a ballin little sister! ❤

So there you have it! Mine and Kristen’s fabulous experience of seeing The Used in concert! What was the best show that you’ve ever been to? What band would you love to see live? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

SO EXCITED!!!!!!

SO EXCITED!!!!!!

Heyyy everyone and TGIF! AND Happy May!!! I just wanted to let you guys know that I’ll be out of office tomorrow because my sister and I are going to see The Used at the House of Blues in Cleveland!! WE’RE SO EXCITED!!! I got Kristen tickets for the concert for her 23rd birthday in April, and tomorrow is finally the day for our emo night on the town! The concert starts at six, which is kind of a weird time, so we plan on making the hour drive to Cleveland fairly early in the day so we can make the most out of our general admission tickets by getting an awesome standing space. The emoness is going to be SO real tomorrow….I’m talkin black on black on black and a whole lot of crying! It’s going to be AWESOME! I’m really looking forward to celebrating Kristen’s birthday again and having a sister filled day. I haven’t been to a concert since I saw The 1975 in December and I’ve never been to the House of Blues before so needless to say, I’m so hyped up. The best part about Kristen’s birthday concert tickets is that we both have a strong mutual love for The Used so it’s not like I’m taking her to a concert of a band who I hate – even though I wouldn’t care at all! So what I’m saying is, it’s going to be just as fun for me as it will be for her. Kristen has seen The Used once before in concert and I was so jealous so I’m very happy to have the opportunity to finally see them live! I’ll try and take lots of pictures and avoid getting punched by angsty emos as best as I can – but don’t be surprised if I post a picture of myself with a black eye! 😉

^^^ Kristen posted this video on Facebook last night, so it only seems right that I feature it on this post!

I hope all of you guys have a fabulous weekend and I’ll tell you all about the concert on Sunday! What was the best concert you’ve ever been to? What band would you love to see live? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Monday Update: A Night at the Theater Edition!

Helloooo everyone and happy Monday! I’ll tell ya what, my day has been a major pain in the ass so far. It’s cold, I’m tired, and Starbucks was majorly lacking in their WiFi game today. I went down the street to my homework destination to work on my assignments for the week and their WiFi was straight up unusable. It was slow as molasses, which never ever happens! I spent an hour trying to connect and reconnect to the internet, finishing minimal work and growing more frustrated by the minute. Eventually I just got so fed up that I went back to my annoying house to sit on my bedroom floor and read about psychological disorders for my Psychology class…#fun haha It’s such a dreary day in Akron, Ohio right now and all I want to do is crawl back into bed and sleep for forever. But that’s neither here nor there because I wanna tell you all about seeing Beauty & The Beast in Cleveland this weekend! Photography was naturally prohibited at the show, but my featured image was what the stage looked like before the musical started and during intermission. Master photography skills, I know. My parents, my brother, my best friend Kate, and I all packed into the family car to go to Playhouse Square for the show. The car ride there was annoyingly awful, but everything was much better once we got to the theater where I wasn’t forced to talk to my family! Ha. We had really good seats for Beauty & The Beast, we were about ten rows from the stage and were seated right in the middle, which was awesome! The musical was jolly good fun, it had a darling set that looked very storybook-esque, with lots of witty dialogue, and creative choreography. Frankly, the actors who played Belle and the Beast were somewhat disappointing…it was the supporting characters that really made the show! The guys who played Gaston and Lumiere absolutely KILLED IT! The young man playing Gaston was hilarious, had a great voice, and looked exactly like the animated cartoon. My favorite number from the musical was the song describing what an amazing guy Gaston was. The song took place in a pub, and the choreography was SO terrific. All of the actors on stage had two mugs, one for each hand and the choreography was almost like a line dance with all of the actors clinking each others mugs at the same time. It was so clever and effective and I loved every minute of it! The dance must have took so much practice to make sure everyone was clinking on time, and it paid off because no one missed a beat. Lumiere was also so fantastic as well. He was perfectly tall and lanky as a candlestick should be, and his French accent was spot on! He had great physicality and the chemistry he had with his feather duster girlfriend on stage was palpable. The show also had some really great use of puppetry for the wolves in the woods and the enchantress who turns the prince into a beast at the beginning of the show, so that was very cool to see. I haven’t been to a musical in ages, and what better show to go to for the first time in years than one of my favorite Disney movies?! I, like my mamma have loved Beauty & The Beast since I was a little one, so it was especially enjoyable to go to the show with my mom since it’s one of her favorites too! Despite some annoyingness that occurred with the family, it was still a great night! I had an absolute blast, and the Jack & Coke that Kate got me from the bar also helped immensely! 😉 It was also so cute to see all of the little girls in the audience dressed as Belle! #precious The company that put on the show is still touring, and if you have the opportunity to see it you definitely should take advantage of it! Beauty & The Beast was wonderful, lighthearted entertainment for the entire family!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful Monday! Where are all of my fans of The Following at?! How excited are you for tonight’s new episode?? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Best Friend Shout Out!!!

Best Friend Shout Out!!!

Heyyyyyy everyone and TGIF! So yesterday I was having a really rough day and the last thing that I wanted was to be at home with all of the people causing me a lot of stress. So I asked my trusty best friend Kate if she wanted to hang out, but unfortunately she had class. BUT she offered for me to come stay at her apartment while she was gone which I happily agreed to. I packed up my copy of Coraline to read and was on my way to her place within three minutes – that’s how much I wanted to get out of the house. Once I got there I curled up in a blanket on Kate’s couch and started to tell my sob story and almost instantly started crying. Kate was on tissue patrol, bless her soul, and was up from her chair, ran to the bathroom, and returned with a box of tissues in under thirty seconds. It was really impressive. After some quality cuddling and advice from my soul mate, I was already feeling better. Kate was then off to class, leaving me in her living quarters for an hour and a half or so. I opened up Coraline, which I’ve read countless times but never have a problem rereading and devoured one hundred pages by the time Kate returned. While I was reading I couldn’t stop thinking about how good it felt to be in a nice, quiet apartment with no distractions. No screaming, no yelling, no crying, no nothing. It was AMAZING. I seriously can’t remember the last time that I had peace and quiet while reading – my bedroom at home is right above from the kitchen and living room so all of the noises travel to my room and I can hear everything perfectly. There’s legitimately no escaping the blaring of a TV or raised voices in my house. It’s absolutely miserable. Now that I know how nice it is to have a quiet spot to just curl up and open a book it makes me sad that I don’t have it…but Kate has told me countless times that I’m always more than welcome to stay at her place whenever I need, and I think I’m going to start taking her up on that. Once Kate got home we decided to do a little shopping, so we drove to Target (our favorite!) to browse and to pick up some white girl essentials that Kate needed – AKA a coffee pot, black leggings, and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Our night ended with a trip to Taco Bell, but for the first time in my entire life I didn’t order anything to eat. I’ve been so stressed and miserable lately that I can’t bring myself to stomach anything. I feel hungry and full at the same time, but when I think about eating it makes me nauseous. But I couldn’t NOT get something, so I ordered a Baja Blast Freeze as a treat since I never order anything to drink when I go to TBell. On our way back to Kate’s apartment we saw a raccoon without a tail wandering around the streets and laughed about nothing and everything and for a while I couldn’t even remember why I was upset in the first place. I went back home feeling much better than I did before, and I am SO thankful that I have such an amazing best friend who’s always willing to help a bitch out in her time of need. So this ones for you, Kate! I love you!

I hope all of you are having a fabulous Friday! What’s going on this weekend? Any fun plans? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Monday Update: Feeling Better Edition :)

Helloooo everyone and Happy Monday! So as you guys know I had a pretty rough few days this weekend, but thanks to a glorious Saturday night hang out with my best friend/soul mate Kate (whom you should know all about!), I’m feeling much, much better. Sometimes all you need is an evening of girl time to shake the blues away. We had an eventful night of:

  • Telling each other our sob stories while drinking the most delicious hard cider I’ve ever had in my life.
  • Deciding it would be a good idea to finally see 50 Shades of Grey to help cure #50shadesofdepression, so we drove off to the only movie theater in our area still playing it. We then decided it would be a good idea to get some mini bottles of wine to sneak into the theater (because 50 Shades of Lame is definitely a movie you need to watch while drinking wine), so we went to Target and picked out some fabulously delicious Barefoot Bubbly Pink Moscato baby bottles.
  • After we got our dranks, we changed our mind on the movie and came up with the brilliant idea to go to a nature park to enjoy the great outdoors while sipping on our bubbly. So we went back to Kate’s apartment to get a blanket in case we wanted to sit down and some to go coffee mugs filled with ice to put our drinks in. Then we headed off to the Gorge, which is a hiking trail right near Kate’s living quarters.
  • Once we got to the trail we saw that it was jam packed with people because it was one of the first really nice days in good ol’ Akron, Ohio (#represent). So we decided that until the park cleared up a little we would sit in my car (AKA The Little Red Love Machine AKA #TLRLM) and smoke cigarettes, drink our vino, and listen to One Direction. (I’m just now realizing how antisocial that sounds, haha!)
  • After some down time in my whip we decided to walk to the overlook area that the trail has where you can gaze at the dirty Cuyahoga River #EW. Keep in mind that I had no idea Kate and I would be anywhere near a hiking trail today, so I had to walk there in my beloved black lace up Vera Wang wedges. I felt like such a goon, but hey, a gals gotta do what a gals gotta do.
  • We admired the filthy and flammable river for a while and then walked back to my car to refill our drinks. Best believe I’ll have buns of steel from that trek on the trail in wedges! So once we got back to the car we both had to pee like no other, so we made a dash back to camp to empty our bladders before hitting up Swenson’s (AKA the best thing that Akron has to offer) for a late dinner.
  • We got our food to go and then went back to the headquarters one last time so we could watch Parks and Rec while enjoying our food and some best friend cuddling! :*)

bffs

My best friend evening with Kate was honestly one of the best nights I’ve had in weeks, and I needed it so bad. I’m no longer a bummed out wreck over some of my sob stories that occurred this past weekend and for that I am so thankful! It’s seriously amazing how one evening of drunken tom foolery with your bff makes all of your problems seem so much less significant than they did initially. I feel like I’m ready to take on the world, and I have my partner in crime to thank for that! ❤

I hope all of you guys are having a fabulous Monday! I’m off to start a ten page research paper, so hopefully all of you are doing something much more enjoyable! Where are all of my fans of The Following at? How excited are you for tonight’s new episode?! I for one am stoked! I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Weekend Update: Sad Edition :(

Standard
Weekend Update: Sad Edition :(

Hiii everyone and happy weekend. As you can tell, I’m not feeling too hot right now. If you can recall from my last post, I mentioned being reunited with someone very special to me during my white girl wasted night, so let me go into further detail about that sob story…

Once upon a time in the winter I had the pleasure of meeting one of the most amazing guys ever. I fell head over heels for him but unfortunately things ended on a somewhat sour note. (Not like I wanted it to, of course.) Anyways, after things ended I never really heard from him again, which really hurt me – but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t think about him often and I missed him very much. Eventually it made me too sad to see his posts on Facebook, so I ended up unfollowing him so I wouldn’t see any of his statuses on my newsfeed, but he could still see mine. #SWAG So during white girl wasted night, after I threw back a bottle of wine AKA “liquid courage” I finally worked up the balls to text him. He replied back, and I learned that he was moving back to Florida this weekend to be with his mom and have a fresh start. We texted for a bit more and he asked if I wanted to hang out, and the answer to that was on obvious YES. I’m honestly convinced that we were supposed to see each other before he left…I mean think about it – if I didn’t drunk text him, I would have never known that he was leaving because he was unfollowed on Facebook and we weren’t in touch. (This is the one time that a drunk text has resulted in something good!) He always talks about how things are meant to happen and whatever and I really think that our final hang out was seriously meant to happen. It was so good seeing him and being able to tell him the things that were bothering me. We could have sat in silence all night and I would have been happy. I cried like a bitch so much that night…I just couldn’t help it. I felt so overwhelmed seeing him again with good and bad emotions and I was drunk so that didn’t help either. My heart aches at the thought of him being so far away, but I’m thankful that seeing him for the last time resulted in happy memories that I can cherish. When I got home yesterday morning, I showered and then proceeded to get into bed to cry all day. Lucky for me, I have an amazing sister because she did her damndest at cheering me up. She took me to Taco Bell, dyed my hair, listened to my sob story over and over again, and cuddled me real good before I fell asleep. She’s obviously the best sister ever. I feel somewhat better, but it still hurts I guess. When I walked into the kitchen a bit ago, I was clearly upset and finally caved and told my mom what was bothering me and instantly started crying again. I’m starting to annoy myself, because I never cry over guys. I’ve never really felt strongly enough about any of the guys or girls who I’ve dated to shed a tear over them, let alone a million. And all in the course of a day and a half? Ugh, hello heartache. I feel somewhat stupid, because we weren’t even seeing each other for that long, but I can’t help the way I feel, ya know? Believe me, if I could control my emotions I would have never let myself be swept off my feet by him. It’s whatever, I guess. Nothing is going to make him come back to Ohio and I probably won’t see him again for a very long time – if ever. I just have to accept it and move on, but it’s hard. It’s so fucking hard. #fml

Alright crew, I’m off to do homework and be a whiny baby for the day so I will talk to you all later. I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend! Have any of you had a situation similar to mine? How did you deal with someone you care about moving away? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

I Have Returned!!

I Have Returned!!

Hellooooo everyone and happy Friday! After a two day MIA hiatus, I have returned to deliver the latest and greatest! Honestly nothing too exciting has happened, I’ve just been busy with school and being a bad ass…the usual. 😉 I had a beautiful wasteypants night yesterday with my sister and a lovely group of friends. It was wine night at a nearby restaurant so we all indulged, and I threw back a bottle of white wine to get white girl wasted like NOBODY’S BUSINESS! It’s a very exciting thing to not get carded while ordering booze, let me tell you! Here’s a few pics of the festivities:

sisterrrrrwahhh

^^^ Bar lighting sucks! My bedroom lighting is better though! (Obviously, because I look pale and flaming red, not grainy and beige!)

I’m shockingly not hungover, I’m just really tired. After the wine night outing, I had the pleasure of reuniting with someone very dear to me before he moves forever away to Florida, so it was an all around fantastic night. It’s a bummer how much I’m going to miss him but maybe our paths will cross again eventually. Fingers fucking crossed. I also have a case of the sleepies because we have some renovations going on at casa de la Lil Red. We’re getting our entrance way and hallway painted, and unfortunately the repairman has been coming in bright and early these past few days which means no sleeping in for me. I would be furious if it wasn’t looking so fabulous, so prepare for some before and after pics soon! Ya know, yesterday was great in general actually. School in the morning was stupid, but after that I got to spend the afternoon having girl time with my sissy. I met her up at the nail salon after class while she got a pedicure, and I got to soak my feet and enjoy the massage chair while Kristen got pampered. The massage chair had a “Buttock” setting on it, so it was definitely a treat getting a butt massage! My beloved nail tech Vinny also gave my talons a little bit of loving even though I just got them filled a week ago, so that was super sweet too. After Kristen got the princess pedicure treatment we went to Target to get some shopping done. We originally went so Kristen could find a new dresser for her room, but we ended up leaving with a shirt for her, a floor length kimono vest for me, hair dye, and mascara. The essentials. I’m pretty obsessed with my new flowing kimono vest! Kristen actually talked me into buying it, and I’m so glad she did! Here she is:

vest

So cute! I got this little beauty for $24.99 and if you like it, it should be available in stores and online for purchase! (www.target.com) For my evening outing I threw this on over a pretty simple David Bowie crop top and black short combo to spruce things up. (Fun fact for ya: I got my D-Bo crop at a Goodwill in Cleveland over six years ago and I still love it! Such a great find!) To finish off the out and about look I put on my go to pair of black lace up Vera Wang wedges and I was off! Annnd now I must be off….to take a nap!

I hope all of you guys are having a fabulous Friday! What are you all up to this weekend? Any fun plans? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Lil Red Pro Tips: Weekend Fun Edition

Lil Red Pro Tips: Weekend Fun Edition

Hello there everyone! I hope all of you had a fabulous weekend…I know I did! My weekend was full of friends, family, fun, and food AKA #FFFF – it also included some really great movies and books as well! In this post I’ll be discussing with you some Lil Red Pro Tips on how to make the most out of your weekend!

DO: Watch a funny movie: My family absolutely loves the Horrible Bosses movies, and this Friday we watched Horrible Bosses 2. There’s seriously no better way to start off the weekend then with a silly movie that you don’t have to think about. The HB movies are hands down one of my favorite comedy franchises thanks to their all star cast of Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, Jennifer Aniston, and Kevin Spacey. Sure, they’re not the best movies in the world. And yes, they’re vulgar as all get out – but hey, they bring me to a happy place of gut busting laughter which is exactly what you want from a comedy!

DO: Cook something delicious: Lil Red was tearing it up in the kitchen this weekend! I would have taken pictures of the food, but honestly it looked kind of gross…but it tasted really good! Ha! On Friday I made a Mexican casserole that turned out really well. It had sauteed onions and garlic, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, diced chiles, sour cream, and shredded pepper jack cheese in it. It was perfect for dipping with chips or wrapping it up burrito style in a tortilla. I’ll admit that even after this home cooked Mexican dish I still wanted Taco Bell…but you can’t always get what you want. #neversatisfied I also made a lava cake like dessert this afternoon that I’m really looking forward to trying! It’s actually baking in the oven as we speak and it smells delicious, so fingers crossed!

DO: Read a good book: I finally finished the best seller The Girl On The Train this weekend and absolutely loved it! I’ve heard a lot of hype about this book and I’ve been reading it throughout the week, so I was so excited to finally finish it yesterday! The Girl On The Train intertwines the stories of the alcoholic and unstable Rachel, the mistress Anna, and Megan – the girl with a dark past. Rachel rides the train into London every morning like clockwork, gazing out the window and throwing back gin and tonics like it’s her job. Almost every morning as the train rolls by a suburban neighborhood, she watches a young couple whom she names “Jess and Jason” sitting on their patio and enjoying their morning. They seem to be the perfect couple, until one morning Rachel sees something that changes this perspective entirely. The Girl On The Train is a bone chilling thriller that will leave you guessing until the very end. This book was so so good and I can’t recommend it enough!

DO: Watch a serious movie: So tonight my family and I are going to watch The Theory of Everything and I could not be more excited. I’ve been looking forward to seeing this movie since I saw previews for it in the theater ages ago. The previews alone brought tears to my eyes, and the Oscar buzz that it received only verified the confidence that I have that this movie will be amazing. You might be asking “why recommend it if you haven’t seen it?” But like I said, I am SO confident that I’ll enjoy it that I’m just laying all my cards on the table now. If anything, let this suggestion be me telling you that my favorite way to end the weekend is by watching an excellent film on Sunday night. Fridays are my comedy night, Saturdays are my going out night, and Sundays are my serious film nights. A perfect lineup, if I do say so myself. 😉

DO: Go bowling. (DON’T: Go bowling with fake nails on): Last night I had a lovely evening going bowling with my sweet neighbor, Vaughn. We went to the lunar bowling night at a close by bowling alley and had a blast. The only thing that would have made my night better is if I didn’t have my damn talon acrylic nails on! I had to use the ol’ “underhand roll” technique, because there’s no way in hell I would put my fingers with my sharp claw nails in the bowling ball holes. Honestly, even if I could bowl properly I don’t think that I would have done any better! We played four games and I got one measly strike the entire time – but I’m very proud of that strike, thank you very much! Despite this minor problem, it was still so much fun! 🙂

I hope all of you had just as great of a weekend as I did! What was your favorite Oscar nominated film? How did you feel about The Girl On The Train? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
