Bath Bomb Blitz: Lush’s Twilight Edition

Bath Bomb Blitz: Lush’s Twilight Edition

Hi everyone and happy Monday! This will be the last issue of Bath Bomb Blitz for a while until I can restock my supplies from Lush. I told myself that I would try to space out my birthday bath bombs, but we all see how well that worked out, because I used up four in less than a month! The bath bomb from Lush that we’re going to discuss today is called Twilight and it was AIGHT. Take a look:

pinkiepinkie1pinkie2pinkie4pinkie3pinkie5

(I like to call the second pic “Journey To The Center Of The Bath Bomb” haha)

Although I definitely liked Twilight better than the Sakura bomb, it was still a bit of a disappointment. I was looking forward to using it, because I thought that the water was going to turn fully pink. But, because the center of the bath bomb was baby blue, the water turned dish water grey, instead. Not a good look.

Twilight also fizzed out rather quickly, which didn’t help the water color situation, either. The bath bomb had completely disappeared within two minutes, so there wasn’t much of a display aspect to using Twilight – and that’s no fun! The final nail in the coffin, is that I didn’t feel moisturized at all from this product, which sucks, because I’m so used to Lush bath bombs making me feel like I just took a soak in body butter. So, even though Twilight was a step up from the Sakura bomb, I definitely wouldn’t bother with this one again.

Which body care products do you like to use during bath time? What would your perfect bath bomb be like? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Dunkin’ Donuts Disappointment

Dunkin’ Donuts Disappointment

Hi! This week, I received my freebie cold brew packets from Dunkin’ Donuts in the mail, and it was nothing short of disappointing. Take a look at some pics, don’t mind the Loony Toons pitcher, and let’s discuss:

dunkin1dunkin2dunkin3dunkin4

As you can see, the preparation of the cold brew coffee was easy and self explanatory. It wasn’t until I was ready to drink the coffee that everything went up in flames! In the morning, I woke up and was excited to give my cold caffeine drink a try and, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to taste one single drop.

While attempting to get the coffee bags out of the pitcher, they ripped and I had barely even touched them. It turned all of the liquid in the pitcher into a thick, coffee ground contaminated mess. Now, I probably should have just poured the drink into another pitcher so that I could add the extra water and then dispose of the bags, but I was tired and wasn’t thinking and really REALLY just wanted my coffee and ended up having none at all. So, needless to say, this freebie was an absolute and total bust. #disappointed

How do you like to drink your coffee? Who else has had some coffee ground disasters before? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Beige & Black Nails

New Beige & Black Nails

Hello and happy Hump Day! I finally had time last week to get a much needed fill for my claws, and I’m feeling pretty blah about them. I went with the usual black and chose a beigey nude color for the accent nail. I was feeling really good about the color palette, because I wanted matte nails and I thought that the black and beige would look amazing like that. But, it wasn’t until after my nails were painted that my nail tech discovered that they were all out of matte top coat. -___- I’m not thrilled with my latest fill, but we can’t always win in life! Lol, here are my claws this time around:

beige

Another major pisser about this fill is that TWO of my nails broke on the exact same day, which literally never happens. The nail related irritation that day was so real, I could have screamed. Despite the major claw flaws, my talons are shaped up and sharpened, which pleases me more than an exciting color palette. I still would really like to go the matte route, though, so hopefully next time they will have a top coat for me!

What do you do about broken nails? What color of polish do you have on right now? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath & Body Works May Freebie

Bath & Body Works May Freebie

Hi! So Bath & Body Works finally sent me a freebie coupon after months of not receiving anything, so I was excited to run into the store and grab a travel sized lotion or shower gel. I was in a rush when I was in the store, and their new packaging definitely didn’t help, because I couldn’t tell what the idea was for any of their scents. Take a look and you’ll see what I mean:

gel

I really did like B&BW’s old packaging, because it let you know what the product would smell like without having to flip the lid. Now, you can’t tell what their scent would be like from anything and, frankly, I think the packaging looks cheap. I selected a new scent of theirs called Happy Vibes and it smelled okay. It’s a floral/citrus scent and the only reason why I selected it was because I was in a hurry. The flowers in this gel definitely overpowered any notes of citrus that you could smell, so I am not a huge fun. But, hey, it was free! 😀

How do you feel about B&BW’s new packaging? What is your favorite shower gel fragrance? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Face Mask Festivities: CVS Avocado Oatmeal Clay Mask Edition

Face Mask Festivities: CVS Avocado Oatmeal Clay Mask Edition

Hey everyone and happy Hump Day! If there’s one thing a Lil Red loves, it’s a clay mask. I don’t buy them too often because I don’t use them too often, but the one that we’re discussing today was a hand me down from my beauty queen sister. It wasn’t the best, but it certainly wasn’t the worst, either. So, take a look and let’s get to it:

facemaskfacemask3facemask4facemask6

Okay, so a major pro of this mask was that it smelled awesome. It had a nice and creamy texture thanks to the avocado, but it’s scent was rich and sweet from the oatmeal. I have a love/hate relationship with the overall feel of this mask, though. I liked that the consistency of it was lighter than a standard clay mask. But, at the end of the day, I love a really thick texture. It’s a matter of preference, though. I love being able to take a bath and let a thicker mask soak in. It was impossible to do that with the CVS one, because it dried so quickly!

Although this product smelled really good, I am glad that I didn’t go out of my way to purchase it for myself. When I use a face mask, I’m only genuinely concerned about one thing: Blackhead removal. And, unfortunately, my blackheads were none of the better after using this mask even though it’s supposed to be a purifying one. Don’t get me wrong, my skin felt soft after using it and it will be nice to apply every once in a while. But, don’t expect a miracle in this face mask, because you aren’t going to get it.

What is your favorite face mask to use? How do you like to pamper yourself? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath & Body Works February Freebie

Bath & Body Works February Freebie

Hihihi everyone! It’s been a while since I have gotten a freebie coupon from Bath & Body Works, but it happened last week. I assumed that they had finally caught on to me never buying anything and just cashing in the coupons, but it looks like I am back in the good graces of B&BW. Since I haven’t been in in a minute to nab my freebie, I haven’t noticed that they repackaged their signature scents and I am so not a fan. Take a look:

bbwwwfreebies

  • Picture 1: New School
  • Picture 2: Old School

In my opinion, pretty packaging is a must when it comes to bath and body care goodies. Good packing should tell you everything that you need to know about a product before you even smell it. The new packaging tells the buyers nothing. If you didn’t look at the minuscule print at the bottom, you would have no way of knowing that I picked out the Pretty As A Peach lotion.

Not only did they do away with their signature scent packaging, but they also eliminated the coloring of all of the lotions, as well. I guess that’s a good thing, because they’re getting rid of any excess or unneeded ingredients – but it definitely makes for a pretty blah looking product. #notimpressed

The final surprise when I got my freebie was that B&BW increased the price of the mini products from five dolla to five dolla and fifty cents. Is that a huge increase? Not necessarily. But is a mini lotion or shower gel really worth five fifty? Definitely not. But, I got my mini lotion FO FREE so who am I to complain?! 😉

Am I super bent out of shape over this new rebranding? No, I honestly don’t care. But am I petty enough to nitpick the not so nice looking aspects of it. Hell yeah. Unappealing repackaging and a price increase is never a good look, B&BW!

How do you feel about the new Bath & Body Works packaging? Are you a fan of the new school or old school marketing? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

DLS Vengeance Swatch

Standard
DLS Vengeance Swatch

Hellooo! With a makeup queen for an older sister, I am lucky enough to receive all of her hand me downs when she decides that she dislikes a product or is sick of it. There is also the occasional miss from her Ipsy subscription that falls into my lap, as well. I recently was given the lippie seen below by DLS, which I now know stands for “Dirty Little Secret”, and I don’t particularly care for it.

SO WHY ARE YOU WRITING ABOUT IT?!?!

Because someone might! This shade in “Vengeance” is wayyyy too purpley for my taste. I stick to my reds and nudes, thank you very much. With my pale complexion and vibrant red hair, I avoid purple makeup like the plague, because it looks very clown-like on me. Not a good look! But if you are #blessed enough to be able to rock purple lipstick, then this shade might be for you:

dls1dls2dls3

So, the first heart seen above is taken without the flash and it looks quite pink, right? At least, to me, it looks like a deep rose. The second heart picture was taken with the flash on and WOAH, hello purple! My mind was blown by this, because in the tube you can see that Vengeance looks like a dusky magenta but you really couldn’t see that color pop until the flash was on.

This intrigued me, and I had to bite the bullet and apply the lipstick – even though I knew that it would look horrible – to get to the bottom of this color mystery. And, what do you know? The lipstick looked super purple on my lips. This was all so crazy to me, because to my eyes, it looked so pink on my hand – but on my lips it was a different story!

Was the pink shade picture a camera fluke? Maybe, my iPod doesn’t take the best pics. BUT, that doesn’t change the fact that I didn’t see purple in the original swatch until the flash setting was on my camera. Is it all in the lighting, how you see color, and where on your body you apply the lippie? I guess so!

What shades of lipstick look best on you? Which shades of lippie are ehh…not so much? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Face Mask Festivities: The Body Shop’s British Rose Edition

Face Mask Festivities: The Body Shop’s British Rose Edition

Howdy! This week, I am excited to feature some new Face Mask Festivities on my page – three of them to be exact! Face masks are the it beauty product right now, and I thought that I would start off this mini series by talking about The Body Shop’s British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask. Take a look at some pics and let’s discuss. And don’t judge me too hard for putting this on over makeup because it didn’t say anywhere on the directions on the jar that a clean face was required! 😉

fmf1fmf2fmf3fmf6

This mask was interesting, because it was more like a gel in texture. As you can see in my picture with it on, you can barely even tell that I had it on! This was an instant bonus to me, because I knew that it wouldn’t be a pain to clean up in the shower, unlike The Body Shop’s Himalayan Charcoal Mask. But I digress. Despite being a fan of the gel texture for it’s easy clean up, it felt like it was doing a whole lot of nothing. I now know that I prefer thicker face masks that you can actually see when it’s on, because I like to “watch” and feel my masks working.

The scent of this mask was also just okay. For those of you who have smelled The Body Shop’s British Rose line before, it was not as pungent as the body butter – thank goodness! However, it definitely had that freshly cut rose smell to it. This was all fine and well, but I prefer a more minty, citrus, or oat scent to my face masks. But with a name like British Rose, you take what you can get! I’m glad that this mask didn’t smell as…bad…as the body butter, because that would have been ten minutes of pure misery when the mask was on!

Now to the real question: Did this mask “do” anything?

Mmm, I couldn’t really tell. Was it because I wore makeup while using the mask? Maybe. Or maybe you just need to use this mask a few times to get the full effect. But that’s never going to happen because this was a one and done try soooooooo……..

So why did you buy this mask if you hate it?

I didn’t! It came in the Mother’s Day tote bag last year and I didn’t even know that my mom had it!! When she told me how much she enjoyed it, I figured I would start up another Face Mask Festivities mini series by writing about it first. Trust and believe that I would have never bought this for myself, lol.

So there you have it, an albeit a little disappointing start to another Face Mask Festivities mini series with The Body Shop’s British Rose Mask! What is your favorite face mask? What are your thoughts on the British Rose mask if you have used it before? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Happy 23rd Birthday To Me!

Hi everyone and happy Hump Day but more importantly – HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! Today is my 23rd birthday, and I’m going to be honest with you: I am so not excited about it. Guyyyys. I feel old. *Let the eye rolling commence*. But seriously, 22 was a good year and I’m not happy about it being over. 23? Oy. That’s half way to 25, which is half way to 30, which makes my heart hurt to think about!

Do I sound like I’m complaining? I swear – it’s not just me! I’ve heard this thought process from SO many of my friends who were super stoked on 21 and 22 and then had the proceeding birthdays feel totally lackluster. So there. BUT, despite not being thrilled about adding another year under my belt, I do love birthdays! Wait…what?

Lol, yeah I love birthdays. The presents, the dinners and drinks out with friends, the overflow of birthday well wishes on Facebook. I love it all! It’s just the aging part that I freaking despise! Honestly, I’m one of those people who celebrate for the entire month and starts saying “it’s my birthday” a week or so before my actual birthday. But, come on. Who doesn’t love having the attention on them from family and friends? And, this year, I really need to embrace the fun side of birthdays to keep me from feeling down about turning the big 2-3. Smh.

So, Happy 23rd Birthday To Me – I guess. -__- I look forward to telling all of you about my birthday celebrations as the month goes on! How did you celebrate your last birthday? What is one of your favorite birthday memories? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath & Body Works April Freebie

Hi everyone and happy Sunday! I hope that all of you are having a wonderful and relaxing weekend. This Friday, I ran into Bath & Body Works to collect my April Freebie and I am not very jazzed about it. I originally had a Sweet Pea shower gel picked out but apparently you could only use the coupon for lotion. Beggars can’t be choosers and I wasn’t in the mood to hunt down a good scent so I just grabbed something and ended up with Hello Beautiful. I thought the name was cute and the packaging was pretty so I thought “why not”. But, unfortunately, I think I should have taken the .3 seconds it takes to smell a product because I discovered that I hated it upon my arrival home! Take a look:

hello

A Lil Red Fun Fact is that I just don’t do floral fragrances. Like, ever. And I really should have examined the packaging closer to put two and two together that something with a flower on it is going to be floral scented, lol SMH! Hello Beautiful is just too heavy for my liking since I am all about fruity, flirty, fun fragrances. Bath & Body Work’s website describes Hello Beautiful as a: “perfect blend of white gardenia, jasmine petals, and magnolia blossom”. And guess what? I hate all three of these things!

Thank gawd this is just a travel size and I can probs pawn it off to someone or another for a gift giving occasion! And next time I grab a freebie, I will be much more attentive to what I’m picking out! #SHAMEFUL

What is one scent that you simply can’t stand? Are you a floral or fruity fan? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
