Bob Dylan & Willie Nelson Concert

Bob Dylan & Willie Nelson Concert

Howdy!! This past weekend, Johnny and I checked off another concert on our summer lineup list. It was Outlaw Fest at Blossom Music Center and Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson were performing. We were supposed to see Willie Nelson at Blossom during the pandemic and had to skip on it so we were so happy to have been able to make up for it. I mean… kind of? Because the night definitely didn’t go accordingly to plan and it was basically one of the wildest nights out I’ve had since the after party at our wedding lol. Take a look at some pics that I don’t even remember a random stranger taking and let’s discuss:

Like any big event, the concession prices at Blossom are absolutely insane. To remedy that, literally everyone going to a show there pregames in a great big parking lot tailgate. Johnny and I got to the show with about an hour to kill, White Claw ready to go, and we posted up in the trunk of our car to sip away. As we were having our trunk time, a young couple who went with family across the way approached us to talk about our tattoos and they became our instant BFFs. We were chatting up a storm and, eventually, the entire family joined us. They were absolutely hilarious and we spent our pregame in stitches together. We were having so much fun that I don’t think any of us noticed we were all getting a fair bit tipsy.

Once we all felt good and ready to head into the venue, we did so as a team and found a nice, shady spot to watch from. We couldn’t see anyone on the stage, but we could hear the music and that was perfectly fine. Besides, Johnny and I were DEEPLY invested in conversation at this point. You guys, I kid you not, Johnny and I held individual sidebars with every single member of the family. Lol, they came to us with their complaints, we essentially gave them the “you have to get your ish together” motivational speech and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the mother’s daughter’s boyfriend would get a job and a license. We stepped into our roles as therapist beautifully and hope for nothing but the best!

Once Johnny and I had our fill of other people’s problems, I REALLY needed the bathroom so he waited for me while I did my thang. When I emerged from the facilities, I found Johnny standing there with two mixed drinks that featured a commemorative plastic pink cowboy hat. Lol he just couldn’t help himself! At this point, I was gone to the wind (Johnny was responsible because he was driving!) and we broke free from the family therapy session. We had been outside in ninety plus degree temps for close to four hours, Willie Nelson was going to be on soon, and we wanted to be able to fully enjoy it.

From what I recall and the poorly shot videos on my phone, both Willie and Bob tore it up. Those senior citizens still sound great!! Also, I was a little busy while Willie was playing because I ended up somehow with a new job perspective lol? One of the people we were standing by needed some social media assistance and we exchanged information! The night just kept getting better and better and I joked that Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan were simply our background music for the evening. By the time the show was over, we were totally and completely beat but it was so worth it for a whole lot of fun!

When we drove to the concert, we were not expecting for our night to transpire the way it did. It was, however, a memory (Or lack thereof!) for the ages!!

What is the craziest night out you have ever had? Are you going to any concerts this summer? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Birthday Partay OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Birthday Partay OOTD! Johnny and I had a banner birthaversary week and the good times are going to keep rolling. We recently went to see AC/DC in Cleveland which was phenomenal and we have another concert on the horizon in the next few weeks: Outlaw Fest where Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan will be headlining! We had so many amazing concerts lined up during the pandemic that we had to forego and we are certainly making up for it this summer. Let’s take a look at some yikes shots and discuss a lil funny from my last nail appointment:

In my head, all of the adults who I interact with are my age. However, there are instances when it becomes glaringly obvious that that is, in fact, not accurate lol. Take my nail techs, for example. Both of my go to girls are at least five or six years younger than me and you could have knocked me over with a feather when I made that revelation. As per ushe, I forgot immediately until my last appointment when we were discussing summer concerts. I was telling my gals about mine and Johnny’s lineup and mentioned that we were seeing Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan in a few weeks. I kid you not both of them replied “who?” at the exact same time and my worldview was shattered.

As a forever young thirty-one year old, I kind of assumed that everyone knew of Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan. A movie about the latter just came out this past year! I rarely feel old but, in that moment, I felt ancient! Honestly, this concert is more for Johnny. I love me some Willie but do not get down with Bob Dylan in the slightest. So, I just tried to explain them the best as I could to my techs. My response was “Willie Nelson is a super old country artist and Bob Dylan is just folksy BS” lol. Despite my excellent description, it still didn’t ring any bells!

It was seriously the cutest thing and humored me so much because I find myself asking the same questions when they tell me about the musicians they love or concerts they are going to. Hey, we all learn something new every appointment! It’s never not going to be fun or funny to try and describe artists to each other that we have no idea about. I get to teach them about what’s old and they get to teach me about what’s hip (Omg do I sound old lol). It’s a beautiful win/win scenario and I can’t wait to fill them in on my old timers concert at my next appointment! ❤

This new generation is A-okay in my book and no matter what your age is, you can always ALWAYS learn something new!

What is your summer concert lineup? Who is a beloved artist that you can’t stand? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Can’t Wait!!!

Can’t Wait!!!

Hello!! During the pandemic, Johnny and I had tickets to several concerts that we could no longer attend. We were going to go to Riot Fest for the My Chemical Romance reunion and that hurt deeply. We also had tickets to see Willie Nelson at Blossom Music Center and that fell through too. It was all extremely disappointing, to say the least. However, I am thrilled to say that we have an excellent concert lineup for this summer and the festivities are going to be starting very soon because…

Johnny and I don’t merely celebrate birthdays, but a birthaversary. His birthday is June first, mine is the seventh, and we got married on the fourth. So, when this momentous occasion happens – we do it big! My husband has wanted to see AC/DC live since he was just a little guy and when we found out they were coming to Cleveland, I had to make it happen. We will be in the nosebleeds and that is A-okay because we are going to be there!! Since the beginning of May, I must have heard Johnny say how excited he is at least one hundred times and it never gets old. We have been listening to ALL of the AC/DC even more so than usual and I can’t believe the big show is only a few weeks away since I purchased the tickets forever ago. It’s going to be so special to have this experience with him and I wish it would just hurry up and get here! 😀

Not only do we have AC/DC on our roster but we are also going to be seeing Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan for Outlaw Fest as well as Weird Al, both taking place at Blossom Music Center. We will finally be making good on seeing Willie Nelson together and this will be mine and my brother’s third time being blessed by Weird Al. Blossom has gifted us with an amazing lineup this year and I am chomping at the bit to fill mine and Johnny’s summer concert series even more. Ghost will be coming to Cleveland as well as The Struts and we would absolutely love to see them too. Needless to say, my honey and I are going to be living it up this summer! ❤

So many concerts, so little time and I am so excited to be able to share them with all of you!!

Are you going to any concerts this summer? What is the best concert you have ever been to? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

The iTunes Shuffle!

The iTunes Shuffle!

On my beloved iTunes I have a grand total of 7,655 songs on there, and I love them all equally. The genres vary from emo screamo, to indie, to rap, to classic rock n’ roll, and everything in between. So today I thought it would be fun to put the ol’ iTunes on shuffle, and see just what comes up for a few songs. The shuffle journey began with Chiddy Bang, so let’s discuss!

Chiddy Bang “Nothing on We”: Ohhh yes, I love me some Chiddy Bang. The thing that I really love about these gents, is that they’re not incredibly vulgar like some of the rappers on the scene today. Chiddy Bang loves them a good children’s choir as displayed on this song, and guess what? SO DO I! If there’s a children’s choir featured in a song, there’s a 99% guarantee that I’m going to love it. All of the beats used in Chiddy’s music are always so dope too, they just make you wanna shake your groove thang and GO AND GET YOUR MONEY HUSTLERRRR!

Tom Vek “You Need To Work Your Heart Out”: Tom Vek’s entire album “Leisure Seizure” is really just fantastic. It’s a true testament to who he is as an indie artist. I love the mechanical feel of this song and Vek’s monotone that he manages to make sound amazing throughout the track. When I hear this song, all I can imagine is a bio mechanical heart that’s alive with all of the different gears and cogs trying to figure out its next move. I’ve mentioned Tom Vek before, and honestly I don’t think I mention him enough, because his talent is undeniable. I can’t recommend “Leisure Seizure” enough, so make sure you give it a try and let me know what you think!

Bob Dylan & Johnny Cash “Girl From The North Country”: Oh wow. Just as soon as this song came on a tidal wave of emotion flowed throw my entire body and tears INSTANTLY welled up in my eyes. When I was a little girl and my dad would take me to my figure skating lessons, he would always play Johnny Cash in the car. Whenever I hear anything by the Man in Black, I always ALWAYS think of my father. Even if Cash’s music didn’t remind me of anything, it would still probably have that overwhelming emotional effect on me. His voice and his story touches my soul and takes my heart in its hands. This duet ballad between Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan is actually one of my favorites. It evokes feelings of longing in sorrow in me that I didn’t even know I had. So powerful and so damn beautiful.

Justin Timberlake (feat. Drake) “Cabaret”: YESSSSS I love me some JT!!! ❤ I’ve had the biggest crush on him and his talent for as long as I can remember. And might I just say, that I am truly devastated that him and his wife are expecting….that means he was cheating on me 😦 ! (But seriously, congrats Justin and Jessica!) ANYWHO, in my eyes JT can do no wrong, I love his style and his swagger like no other. Drake isn’t one of my favorites in the music scene, but I really like his verse and this collaboration. “The 20/20 Experience” is just an all around great album. No complaints!

Foster The People “Goats In Trees”: I absolutely ADORE Foster The peoples sophomore album “Supermodel”. It’s a much more mature sound on this album that we didn’t quite hear on “Torches”. I love how folksy this little ditty is, it makes me want to sit in a Kumbaya circle around a camp fire and just clap my hands and sway along with the music. And I hate camp fires, so that’s the effect that this song has on me! I love the lead singers falsetto so much, it sounds so natural. He really does make all of his vocalizing seem so easy, which is very pleasing to me. I feel like no matter what genre of music you listen to heavily, you can still appreciate the beauty and simplicity of this song. Absolutely gorgeous.

Fleet Foxes “Battery Kinzie”: I’m a very big fan of the Fleet Foxes. I used the word folksy to describe the last song and I’m going to use it again for “Battery Kinzie” because it’s the perfect way to describe it. There’s nothing I love more than a group of dudes singing along beautifully with an acoustic guitar. Lord have mercy on me. I get a very Mumford and Sons vibe from this song and I get a very Fleet Foxes vibe whenever I hear Mumford and Sons so it’s so clear the inspiration these two bands draw from each other. I always appreciate the scenery that comes to my mind whenever I hear a Fleet Foxes song. For example, when I hear “Battery Kinzie” I picture myself in a field full of wildflowers with a brown barn lurking in the distance. How can you not have a smile on your face when you’re thinking of that?

Cults “Never Saw the Point”: God this girl has such a sweet voice, it’s quite stunning actually, and I don’t say that about a lot of female vocalists. I definitely can get down to some Cults, but not too much because a lot of their songs start to sound the same after a while. Having said that, I love this song. I think it’s a great indie track but there’s something more to this song…I get an almost classical feel from it…and a somewhat jazzy vibe as well, I just can’t put my finger on it. It’s a very ambiguous sounding track and I think that’s what I like so much about it. Miss girl on vocals has an extremely haunting voice which I think just adds to the perfection of this song. This track is spot on. Bravo.

Nelly Furtado (Feat. Timbaland) “Promiscuous”: Hahaha, judge me for it? Nah, I think this song is fabulous. I’ll never forget hearing this song for the first time, I was like “Woah, Nelly!” Ugh…that was such a lame joke…sorry. BUT ANYWAYS, this track is sexy, which was not what the world was expecting from little miss “I’m Like A Bird”. I love basically anything that Timbaland touches, and I can definitely feel his influence on the sound of this song. The sassiness that Furtado achieves in this song is on point, and I feel like every girl kind of wants to be that…not promiscuous! But having all of the perfect sharp and attitude-y comebacks that Furtado sings back to her Promiscuous Boy. When I try to unleash my inner diva I usually just end up flustered and sweaty. This is a confident sounding track, and I dig that.

So there you have it, a quick peak into some of the many artists and songs that I have on my iTunes. Making this post was a lot of fun so I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did making it! Who’s your guilty pleasure artist in your music collection? What was the first album you got to start your collection? I’d love to hear from you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Happy Saturday! -Sarah
