Groovy Movies: Spinal Tap II Edition

Howdy!! This past weekend was an absolutely fabulous one for yours truly. Johnny and I went on a Middle Class Fancy date night on Friday and on Saturday we went to see Weird Al at Blossom with my big bro. Be sure to check in tomorrow and on my TikTok for more from the show! For mine and Johnny’s date night on Friday, we went to Applebee’s for dinner and then hit the movie theater for opening night of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. Spinal Tap is one of Johnny’s all time favorite movies and he has been eagerly anticipating the sequel that was made forty years after the first film. Being reunited with the boys in the band was well worth the wait and we were in stitches from start to finish! Let’s discuss:

Nigel Tufnel, David St. Hubbins, and Derek Smalls of Spinal Tap are now in their seventies and have gone their own separate ways. Each of them has new jobs and interests like selling cheese or creating a glue museum and they haven’t spoken in years. However, a contractual hiccup has required them to do another show. A reunion and farewell, if you will. Spinal Tap must be reassembled, find a new drummer, and practice for their final gig in New Orleans. Differences artistic and otherwise must be put aside to give the people one more taste of their classic hits like “Big Bottoms”, “Stonehenge” and “Hellhole”. Will the band succeed and forever be sealed in history as one of the greats? See Spinal Tap II: The End Continues to find out!

Going to see Spinal Tap II was an hilarious experience because of the movie, yes, but the situation Johnny and I found ourselves in too. We expected to either A) Be the only people in the theater or B) The theater would be jam packed. It was neither of the two and we were seated with roughly seven other Spinal Tap enthusiasts. We couldn’t get over how funny and perfectly appropriate to Spinal Tap that turnout ended up being and it was liberating to laugh like crazy and sing along with people who really get it lol. Trust and believe I couldn’t resist belting out to Big Bottoms! 😀

If you are a fan of Spinal Tap, you are in for such a treat with its sequel because it truly is just as good. This hour and a half flick was nonstop laughter from the very first minute and it didn’t subside until the end credits were complete. It paid homage to characters new and old including Fran Drescher as well as appearances by Paul McCartney and Elton John. Spinal Tap II may have been forty years after the original but it felt like the movie could have been made immediately afterwards. The members of Tap didn’t miss a beat and stepped back into those roles like greeting old friends. I can’t wait to watch it again. ❤

I am going to award Spinal Tap II: The End Continues with an eleven out of ten stars. This movie was an absolute gift to Spinal Tap fans and I enjoyed every minute!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Fruit Salad OOTD! This little look was worn to a beautiful summer wedding and it was the absolute best time. This is only the second wedding Johnny and I have attended in the six years that we have been together and all I can say is that I hope all of our other friends get married soon. If they want to, of course! Johnny and I truly come alive at a function and this wedding was so top tier. It was such a joy to be surrounded by all of our friends and so much love! My niece came over for a slumber party recently and we always wrap up the festivities by watching a movie and eating ice cream. It’s the best! We usually watch something animated but this time around she wanted to watch the second Descendants movie and honestly it was awesome lol. If you aren’t hip to it, The Descendants series are Disney Channel movies and feature a cast made up of the children of Disney princesses and villains. It’s such a fun idea and I LIVED for Disney Channel movies in my youth so I was pretty stoked to see some fairly recent ones. Although nothing will ever beat Life Sized! 😀

Back in my day, High School Musical was the breakout Disney Channel movie and The Descendants sequel really matched those vibes: Cute couple, set in a school, and the catchiest songs ever. I have legit had music from The Descendants stuck in my head for the past week and change and I’m not even mad about it. If you have littles that love the Disney movies and are old enough to watch it, I cannot recommend this series enough. It’s seriously just as much fun for the adults as it is for the kids. Throughout The Descendants there were so many throw away lines that referenced the animated films and it was such a delightful Easter egg hunt! I’m not going to lie, I just might have to watch the other movies by myself because they really are darling and such a comforting, creative blast of nostalgia. ❤

Going back in time with all things Disney and Disney Channel movies makes this auntie so happy and there is nothing better than unleashing your inner child every once in a while!

Despite the fact that I despise dressing for summer, I have been having a lot of fun styling all of the looks that you have seen this season. Having said that, can fall hurry up and get here now or? Your girl has been ready for fall since summer began and I cannot wait to dress for my favorite season of all! I have been gazing hungrily at all of my cardigans, scarves, hats, gloves, and jackets and I will be SO happy when I can bust them out! While I am counting down the days until cooler weather, I still want to enjoy shooting as many summer fits as I can… and laughing at them too! Roll the Blooper Reel, please!

Johnny and I have been to many an amazing concert this summer and our lineup is not complete just yet. In fact, the best has been saved for last. That’s right, we’re seeing Weird Al at Blossom in September!! Weird Al has been a staple in my life for as long as I can remember. My older bros freaking loved him and I can recall listening to his CDs on our way to family vacations or just running errands. He has truly only gotten better and I have been blessed enough to see him live twice already. Whenever he comes to the greater Akron area, it goes without saying that I will be there with bells on!

Johnny loves Weird Al just as much as me and my big bro and we listen to him often. It’s just fun to sing along and get silly and I swear his lyrics are still funny no matter how many times we hear them. He has transformed songs for me to the point that I cannot hear the original on the radio without his lyrics swarming through my head. One of my all time favorite Weird Al parodies has got to be Whatever You Like (Original by T.I.). I also happen to LOVE the original song and have been hearing it on the radio a fair amount recently even though it was released seventeen years ago! You could imagine how happy I was to hear it again but as soon as I started singing along, I was spitting Weird Al lyrics lol. I just know that is exactly what he would want and I will forever be his number one fan. ❤

Weird Al will be the perfect finale to an excellent summer concert series and I cannot wait to tell you all about it!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Concert Cutie OOTD! These pics were taken before an absolutely fabulous night seeing The Struts and thank goodness we didn’t take them after because I was a sweaty mess. I love styling OOTDs for concerts because it provides the perfect opportunity to not only show out but stand out in the crowd. It gives you the chance to be bold, have fun, and put on a fit that you might not normally wear on a normal outing. My look to see The Struts was Spice Girls inspired and it is one of my favorite ones yet – I had to go full glam to be in the presence of glam party rockers! I put my best face and fit forward but in these pics, the face leaves a lot to be desired lol check it out:

This has nothing to do with the concert but it is a funny story nonetheless. The concert was my belated birthday gift and our sweet niece recently turned three. Her party was held at Chuck E. Cheese… Excuse me – Charles Entertainment Cheese. I honestly didn’t even know this place still existed, all I knew was that my mom absolutely despised taking me and my siblings there when we were little. And, believe you me, I get it. It’s a germ buffet and all of the characters are creepy AF! Funny enough, my birthday girl and eldest niece held similar sentiments. They LIVED for the games but are terrified of Chuck E.! Whenever the character actor would roll through the function, they both ran away like their lives depended on it. Lol, I guess it was a small price to pay for arcade games, pizza, and a Bluey cake!

Johnny and I were in stitches throughout the event because Chuck E. Cheese serves booze, which is wild. There is a catch, though. Two drinks maximum and one drink per hour which is probably a good thing considering there was a point when fights were breaking out at Charles Entertainment constantly. As we sipped our White Claw and played games so our nieces could cash in the tickets we won for prizes, we joked that it was our favorite bar lolol. As we had to work the following day, we decided to get a personal pizza to go and share it. Guys, I kid you not, this pizza literally looked like play food. You know the kind – the plastic pizza with Velcro to attach the slices. It also tasted like what I assume play food tastes like lol. But, hey, it was a small price to pay to celebrate one of our favorite little ladies and play ALL the Skee Ball! 😀

If you have a Chuck E. Cheese in the area, I highly recommend taking your kiddos because it’s straight up hilarious. 15/10 experience sans the scary costumed rat!!!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Summer Breeze OOTD! This little look was worn for a Date Day with my main squeeze and it was a fabulous time! It was also a fabulous fit too and we made the photo shoot work despite the heat. It was seriously hot AF and we were sweating buckets by the time we made it into the restaurant we went to for lunch. But, hey, that’s show biz baby! Take a peek at some of these yikes shots and let’s discuss an update on one of my summer goals that didn’t work out so great:

As you all know, I simply REFUSE to get my vividly dyed hair wet to keep that color fresh until my next hair appointment. Because of this charming quirk, it makes the activity of swimming literally impossible and is more like wading and treading water instead. I have always said that if I ever were to swim swim, that I would get a swimming cap and have never done so… Until my trip to Idlewild Park and SoakZone with my family. I wanted to swim in the pool at the hotel with my littles and live it up at the water park and was not going to let anything get in my way!

After our first day at Idlewild, I was determined to hit the pool as soon as we got to the hotel to give my bright purple swim cap a test run. Within five minutes, my bikini was on, my hair was safely tucked away under the cap, and I was ready to do this thing! I jumped right into the pool and started front stroke, back stroke, and breast stroking away. I was swimming laps like it was my job and it felt so great! After a half hour or so, I was wiped out and made my way back to the room to see how the swim cap fared and… it didn’t. My hair was soaked and I was PISSED. -_- (Also I learned that swim caps weren’t made to keep hair dry which is something I should have Googled in advance SMFH. Such a good idea in theory!)

As I lamented in the bathroom and brushed out my wet hair that was bleeding color profusely, a small silver bag by the hotel provided toiletries caught my eye. It was a shower cap! Since the swim cap didn’t do NOTHING, I figured I might as well give the shower cap a go at the water park the following day. And you know what? It worked like a charm! In fact, I was getting compliments on my hair left and right at SoakZone because everyone could tell exactly why that shower cap was on to begin with despite me sticking out like a sore thumb. A shower cap might not be the move for actual swimming but it did the job perfectly at the water park and that was good enough for me!

Even though my swim cap idea was a bust from its conception, it still felt amazing to swim and major ups to the shower cap for coming through in the clutch. VERY NICE!

I always look forward to taking OOTD pictures and TikTok videos, but was especially excited for this particular look. I had just got my hair done, was sporting a new favorite dress, and was feeling my goddamn self and have been every day since my appointment at the Shear Shop. It’s amazing what a new do can do to crank the ol’ self esteem up to eleven! The shots you are about to see definitely don’t fall under the feeling myself category but let’s take a look anyways:

To blog or not to blog, that is the question

Being self employed is a wonderful, beautiful thing. Not having PTO, however, freaking sucks lol. Because I’m losing money when I take a day off, it is a rarity for me to do so outside of holidays or being sick. This is not a good habit in the slightest because everyone needs a day or two off and one of my goals has been to be more lenient when I need a break. Which is why I am so happy to report that I am on staycation, baby!!!!! Outside of two easy peasy shifts, I have THREE full days off and I am ecstatic.

What am I going to do during my me time? Probs nothing but vegging out and enjoying every minute of it! Since mine and Johnny’s birthaversary, our weekends have been jam packed. We have legit had plans every weekend since June first and while it has been so much fun, it was exhausting and a staycation reprieve on my couch is exactly what the doctor (me) ordered. I plan on binging documentaries, TV shows Johnny has no interest in, and kicking it old school with my Nintendo 3DS. I recently acquired the only game in the Paper Mario series that I don’t have, Sticker Star, and playing it has been a blast. I can’t wait to utilize my couch time to the fullest and beat it! 😀

Staycation all I ever wanted, staycation got to stay home or however that one song goes. I’m stoked!!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Beach Bombshell OOTD! Or more like BOTD (Bikini Of The Day) while I got my Little Mermaid on at Geneva On The Lake. 😀 I literally could not tell you guys the last time I was on a vacation and this two day getaway sparked the travel bug in me something fierce. As a self employed gal, I rarely take time off because I can’t give PTO to myself lol. I definitely feel like I will be more lenient with that in the future because I have been ready for another vaca since we got home from our Fourth of July trip. Vacation has been weighing very heavily on my mind and I have found myself daydreaming about taking a trip constantly. Nothing gets you out of the same old same old funk better than new sights, new foods, and new experiences and it has been fun to even think about planning a getaway. Of course, if Johnny and I were to go anywhere, we would remain in the USA. That will NEVER stop me from fantasizing about my dream honeymoon, though!!

Ah, yes. The dream honeymoon. In my perfect, happy, filthy rich world, Johnny and I would have jet set to Europe after our nuptials. And I’m not talking a week or two trip, I’m talking like a whole month lol. Shopping in London, theater in Paris, smoking hella weed in Amsterdam, gazing at the horizon from a cliff side in Ireland – the works! To appease my sweet history buff Johnny, we would visit different WWII battlegrounds and it would be a win/win for both parties involved. I can see it in my mind’s eye so clearly and I know my dream honeymoon will happen eventually… I’m just so damn impatient for it! 😀

Whether you are planning a weekend getaway or a full fledged journey, it is so exciting to think about a brand new to you place. Let’s hop on a plane and go!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Fun In The Sun OOTD! These pictures were taken during our Fourth of July getaway to Geneva On The Lake while the pasty pale was still pasty and not pink with the worst sunburns ever. Like seriously, if I could stop peeling any time now that would be GREAT! While the sunburns were a major buzzkill, I can’t say I’m not surprised. This is why you will rarely find your favorite vampire couple outdoors in the midst of summer! Let’s get started by looking at some yikes shots:

As you all know, Johnny and I have a downstairs neighbor who is most beloved to us. We love getting to see him every day and always look forward to our movie nights, dinner club meetings, and going shooting at the range. He is simply the best! Unfortunately, he had to be hospitalized and is currently doing MUCH better and regaining his strength at a rehab center before he comes home. Johnny and I have been visiting him regularly at the rehab facility and, honestly, it sounds like the place to be because my mind was BLOWN during my first visit.

While we were chewing the fat, we got a knock on the door from the Enrichment Director of the facility to talk about the activities for the day. I expected something typical like Bingo or a movie. I was dead wrong! The plan for the day was a resident’s birthday party with snacks, cake, and booze followed by Happy Hour with beer and wine! I have been to several different rehab facilities for loved ones and my line of work and have never heard of such awesome activities. We couldn’t help but have a laugh because I couldn’t not joke about the brilliance of this idea: Get the people good and drunk, they will fall, and stay in the rehab longer! Of course, I kid and it is a doctor approved and monitored drink but, hey, it sure sounds like a lot of fun! ❤

All I have to say is, I know EXACTLY where I’m going if I ever have to go to a rehab facility. The place was beautiful, the staff was lovely, and the activities can’t be beat! 😀

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Brunch Babe OOTD! There is nothing better than wearing new clothes and I was so excited to bust out my new top featured in this look by Caroline Constas. It was the ultimate Brunch Babe, farmers market fierce little number I needed for a late morning trip to First Watch! Before I could ever so carefully dig into brunch to avoid a spill on my new duds, pictures were in order. Take a peek at these yikes pics and let’s discuss an instance that simply delighted me this past week:

When I was little, I prided myself on being the best “finder” lol. Someone in my family was always losing something and I was excellent at finding where the misplaced item was. In my old age, however, I fear I may be losing my touch. My eldest niece decided to put together a scavenger hunt with Bluey toys for her little sister at chez grandparents. Lil sis ended up finding almost all of them, but big sis forgot where she put two of the toys (lol) and my parents asked if I would look for them. I searched high and low for the members of the Bluey gang for what felt like forever and, sadly, had no luck. Luckily, I manifested finding something else instead…

For Christmas, I got my mom a gift card to Elysian Nails. Fast forward a few months later when she was ready to cash in her manicure and we couldn’t find the gift card anywhere. Like the Bluey toys, I looked everywhere and ended up convinced it might have been thrown out on accident. When I was on my own scavenger hunt for Bluey’s friends, I thought about how awesome it would be to find the gift card too. A minute or two later, I took off the lid of a decorative pot in the kitchen and gasped at its contents. The Elysian Nails gift card was sitting three feet from my usual spot at the kitchen table this entire time! It was a Christmas in July miracle but I am not hanging up my detective’s cap yet. I will not rest until the remainder of the Bluey toys are returned back to my nieces!

It took seven months to find the missing gift card so maybe in seven months the Bluey toys turn up? Either way, I am on the case!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Country Cutie OOTD! This look was worn to Outlaw Fest to see Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson at Blossom Music Center. Honestly, the whole night was a blooper reel in itself and Johnny and I are still laughing about the antics we got into. I haven’t had a night that wild since the after party at our wedding lol. The bloopers didn’t begin at the concert but during the photo shoot beforehand so take a look at some yikes pics that really helped set the tone for the festivities:

As you can imagine, Johnny and I were definitely feeling the hangover blues the day after the concert. Luckily for us, we have concocted the perfect cure – AKA: A Day of Lay. Lay days are exactly what they sound like: Staying in bed, watching TV, and moving as little as possible lol. And, luckily for us, we have discovered a new “warm blanket” show (Johnny’s definition of a comfort show) to enjoy. A few weeks ago, we started watching Fresh Off The Boat and have been plowing through it at a speed of light pace. It is absolutely hilarious!

Fresh Off The Boat is based off of a book of the same name by Eddie Huang (I can’t wait to read it!). Eddie’s family is Chinese American and the book and show documents their move from Washington D.C. to Orlando, Florida to open a steakhouse in the nineties and get their own slice of the American Dream. The Huang family is comprised of proud parents, Louis and Jessica and their three boys named Eddie, Emery, and Evan. Louis’s mom, Jenny, also lives with them. She speaks no English but lives for Garfield comics and cruising in her electric wheelchair. 😀

From start to finish, every single episode has Johnny and me in stitches. The Huang brothers are all cute as can be and the littlest, Evan, is our favorite. He is just a doll! We also revel in the pure “Louis and Jessica” of our own relationship. Johnny is a Louis for sure. He is spontaneous, silly, and always has a new big idea. I am one thousand percent Jessica and I own it – strategic, thinks in black and white, never backs down from a challenge, and tears it up in a game of Scrabble. Fresh Off The Boat is the most delightful mix of funny and downright heartwarming and when we aren’t in hysterics, we are going “aww” at how sweet it is lol. It was easy to forget how hungover we were during our marathon when we were laughing the entire time!

Our daily viewings of Fresh Off The Boat are something I really look forward to and it came through in the clutch the day after the concert. We finished a full season in one day! 😀
