Black & White OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! It has been a minute since my last OOTD post but your girl is back at it after a little hiatus and this Sunday was the perfect opportunity to do so. I had the best day with Johnny, our bestie Cliff, and my birthday brother going mini golfing and out to dinner. It was a bit chilly out so I wanted something warmer and comfy while I got my putt putt on and put together this fit in a Black & White motif. Check it out and stay tuned for more from this shoot and the Blooper Reel later this week!

Flannel: Miami, Francesca’s

Crop Top: Been Trill, PacSun

Skinny Jeans: 1822 Denim, TJMaxx

Heeled Combat Boots: Forever 21

Panama Hat: Gypsy Warrior, PacSun

As I began planning my outfit, the first order of business was determining what to wear for the weather. It wasn’t cold enough for a jacket or sweater but it wasn’t warm enough for just a long sleeved shirt. So, I turned to my trusty flannels. I am a huge flannel fan and they are just right for days like Sunday. They have the warmth factor, yes, but they also can be taken off and still look cute wrapped around the waist if the sun comes out. I decided to go with one of my favorite flannels from Francesca’s because I love it, of course, but also for convenience! I have So. Much. black and white clothing that the outfit essentially built itself based on the flannel’s palette.

For under the flannel, I went with a crop top by Been Trill that is old as the hills. This was bought way back when I worked at PacSun! But, hey, it still looks great and I am all about the fit of the top. While it is cropped, it’s not super short or tight so it was exactly what I needed to swing comfortably for a day on the putt putting greens. Next up was black skinny jeans, obvi, and I am pleased to report that my newest addition to the black skinny jeans collection is still looking crispy AF. There is nothing better!

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. I chose a great pair of stark white heeled combat boots from Forever 21 and I just love how they pop. The crispy black skinnies against them was a match made in heaven! As my hair wasn’t behaving, I popped on a Panama hat by Gypsy Warrior and I’m actually glad my hair didn’t want to work with me. Simply adding a hat elevated basic pieces into something special! Last but not least, I put on a pair of long dangly black cross earrings to accentuate my neckline and I was ready for a mini golf adventure!

This Black & White OOTD was ideal for an out and about day and I loved how it turned out. Because, yes, I do have to show out even at mini golf! 😀

What is your favorite outdoor activity? What do you like to wear for an out and about day? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Lil Red Path Of Righteousness

Lil Red Path Of Righteousness

Whatupp everyone and happy Thursday! I feel like I’ve discussed a lot of really fun subjects lately, but have any of them really described how I’m personally feeling? (Other than drunk…welcome to the blog of a freshly turned twenty-one year old!) The answer is NO, so I figured now would be a good time to tell you all about the direction my life is heading in that I so lovingly bestowed the title the Lil Red Path Of Righteousness upon. What is the #LRPOR you might ask? I’m so glad you did!

What it is: The LRPOR is the way that I choose to live my life…Or am trying to live my life, anyways. It’s all about accepting where I am at the moment and not comparing myself to others. I find that one of my biggest character flaws is constantly playing the compare and contrast game with people – friends, family, complete strangers…and that needs to stop ASAP. No one but me knows what’s right for me, so I need to start trusting my own judgement more because I’m actually a lot smarter than I give myself credit for. I’m honestly a lot more of everything than I give myself credit for – pretty, personable, witty, talented…But I’m such a modest person and sometimes my self esteem isn’t the best so I need to start showing myself a bit more love. Because the LRPOR is a lifestyle focus on self acceptance I’m hoping that my self esteem will get to a steady place. My fingers are also crossed that with this new habit of embracing myself that my urges to self harm or purge will diminish. I haven’t had any incidents of mutilation in a while, but unfortunately I still think about it a lot. The constant battle of willpower to not cut or vomit is exhausting so if the urges were to decrease even slightly, then that would be a victory in itself. So not only is the Lil Red Path Of Righteousness a way to get me to appreciate myself but it’s also a safety plan to keep my urges at bay. It’s a win, win, win, win situation!

So is success from following on the Lil Red Path Of Righteousness going to happen over night? No. But I’m glad I have a game plan for the time being! Now all I can do is continue to walk along the LRPOR (which I like to think of as a red bricked road) and keep on doing my best! I hope all of you are having a fabulous day so far! What’s a personal lifestyle choice that you follow? Do you have a name for it? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

OOTD: Urban Chic

OOTD: Urban Chic

Hey guys! Sorry that I’ve been MIA these past few days – I’ve been so swamped at work. And speaking of work, I want to show you guys what I’m wearing on the daily at my job! If you don’t already know, I work at Next, which is a store that specializes in urban clothing. Here’s my take on an Urban Chic look for when I’m doing it up on the job:

IMG_1043[1]

As usual, here’s the breakdown of all of the brands of each item and where I purchased them:

  • First crop top: PacSun, Been Trill
  • Second crop top: PacSun, Reason
  • Pleather joggers: Charlotte Russe
  • Nike tye dye and floral shoes: PacSun, Stefan Janoski

As you guys well know, I’m not a big fan of the “jogger”. BUT when I saw these pleather beauties at Charlotte Russe for only $14.95, I figured why not? My store has a plethora of joggers to choose from so I thought I might as well look the part when I’m selling them. I honestly wouldn’t wear these pants outside of work, but I have to admit that they’re quite comfortable!! To keep the urban vibe going strong in my look, I usually pair my joggers with an edgy crop top. I absolutely LOVE both of my options in the picture above. Been Trill is classically a brand for men, but on occasion we would get some female gear at PacSun. When we got this shirt in I HAD to have it! And naturally we carry Been Trill at Next since it’s a very well known street wear brand so this shirt is perfect. And I just adore the “Ballin” crop – I feel like such a sassy chica when I’m wearing it!! To tie together a cool urban look, you need a fresh pair of kicks. My Janoski’s are usually my go to option for when I’m working. Normally at PacSun we only get the adult male run of sizes for shoes. But in the exclusive digital floral and tye dye pattern we got sizes four through thirteen. These shoes were love at first sight and I knew that they had to be mine!! All together I probably spent $135 on these pieces. (But keep in mind that a lot of those items were bought with my employee discount when I worked at Pac.)

So there you have it, my take on an Urban Chic look! My inner diva is set free when I’m sporting this ensemble and it’s a great feeling!!! You can see me rocking my #beentrill shirt in my featured image 🙂

What are your favorite urban inspired pieces to wear? What store did you find them at? Leave me a comment and let’s chat! Happy Saturday! -Sarah
