V-Day Pt. 2 OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to my better late than never V-Day Pt. 2 OOTD! Two weekends ago, Johnny and I wrapped up our Valentine’s Day celebrations by seeing our favorite musical, Hadestown, as EJ Thomas Hall in Akron. Unfortunately, the show left a lot to be desired but we still had a lot of fun! Also unfortunately, our location for our dinner beforehand was completely booked up and that left us in a mad dash to find another option and get to the theater in time. You can read all about that in the Blooper Reel but, long story short, we ended up taking OOTD shots during the super brief intermission of Hadestown. The lighting sucked, these pictures aren’t the best and kind of blurry, but it was the best we could do lol! Check it out:

Kisses Cami Top: A New Day, Target

Bubble Skirt: A New Day, Target

Heart Toe Kitten Heels: A New Day, Target

The earrings are also from Target and I’m SHOOK that there is nothing from TJMaxx in this look!

I used to LOVE shopping at Target until there came a point when I hated all of the clothes there lol. In fact, I rarely even go to Target anymore so I couldn’t believe how cute all of their Valentine’s Day apparel was during a random Target Run a few months ago. I really had no intention of getting a new outfit for mine and Johnny’s Hadestown date, but I just couldn’t help myself because the OOTD built itself in a matter of seconds. The cami and bubble skirt were on the same rack, the shoes were directly across from them, and I knew it would look great so I went for it!

The first thing that caught my eye in the store was definitely the cami top adorned with red lipstick kisses. I loved the silky material and despite having a holiday themed print, it is something that could be worn year round. That was especially enticing to me because I don’t want to just wear a piece once, but as long as the weather permits. This cami is delightfully reminiscent of my go to tops from French Rooster and it’s nice to have something different because I feel like I wear them all the time. Had I not bought a new outfit, I’m ninety-nine percent confident I would have ended up wearing one or the other of my tried and true camis for Hadestown.

Next, can we please talk about how cute the bubble skirt is?! I have always been enamored with bubble skirts because they are just so whimsical and fun. Until that fateful Target Run, I had never seen one in store so I had to jump on it. I’m elated that I did because it is, hands down, one of my favorite purchases of recent memory. This skirt paired with the cami tucked in created such a unique silhouette and it was freaking awesome. I have never seen myself in a shape like that and it was exciting to wear something so different from the norm. I felt like a ballerina model and what is better than that?!

Last but not least, was shoes and accessories. As I mentioned, the kitten heels by A New Day were just a glance away from the skirt and top. I would have paired this outfit with my Nine West kitten heels but how do you say no to those adorable heart toes? I am also obsessed with the see through sides, which is a style I love but have never found anything I liked enough to get. For jewelry, I chose an elegant pair of three tiered black gemstones to elongate my neck and that was that because my tattoos were my accessory department. 😀

Stay tuned for the Blooper Reel from this look because a majority of these pictures were bloopers and so was the entire evening leading up to the show!

What is your favorite holiday to dress for? What is your favorite pattern to wear? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hadestown At EJ Thomas Hall Review

Hadestown At EJ Thomas Hall Review

Hello!! This past Saturday, Johnny and I had Part Two of our Valentine’s Day celebration: A night at EJ Thomas Hall in Akron to see our favorite musical, Hadestown. Two years ago, we saw Hadestown for V-Day at Playhouse Square and it was magnificent so I just had to jump on the opportunity for us to see it again. We both went into the show knowing that it wasn’t going to be as good as our first viewing and we were spot on about that. Don’t get me wrong, there was plenty about it that we liked. However, this show had some glaring issues that were difficult to look past. Let’s get to it:

First things first, let’s start with the good because there were two standout performances. Jaylon C. Crump as Hermes really helped carry the show and was so solid from start to finish. His vocals were phenomenal and he was exuberant, which was very necessary especially considering the times when the actors on stage just seemed tired. Johnny and I were blessed with seeing Nathan Lee Graham as Hermes at Playhouse Square and, frankly, no one compares to him. Having said that, I could tell that Jaylon found inspiration in Graham’s portrayal and that was good enough for us.

Next up was Nickolaus Colon as Hades who, easily, had the strongest performance of the night. During our first show of Hadestown, the man who played Hades took the dark and mysterious route and that is still my preferred portrayal. Nickolaus had a different approach, playing Hades with anger that boomed and resonated. This was further complimented by his larger than life and looming presence and he made it work so well. We were both really impressed by him and his rendition of “Why We Build the Wall” was one of the best numbers of the whole show.

Finally, we have Megan Colton as Eurydice for Honorable Mention. I loved that she brought some grit to Eurydice’s character and my qualm isn’t exactly directed at her but to her acting partner, Bryan Munar, as Orpheus. Look, I don’t know if he was having a rough night and I am not trying to be mean but he was not good at all. His falsetto, which is such an important part of the vocal performance was simply not there. There was no strength behind it and his performance felt more like one of their first rehearsals rather than a real live show.

Johnny and I were not the only ones to feel this way about Munar. In fact, as we were both in line for the bathroom, literally everyone we chatted with was not impressed with him either and had nothing but negative feedback. He brought the entire show down and because of that, Eurydice didn’t shine as brightly as she should have. This is truly unfortunate and while I understand that everyone has a bad night, I really wish it didn’t happen when we saw it lol. From this performance alone and the fact that he could barely hit his falsetto definitely had me questioning the casting decision.

Last on the “not so great” list was Namisa Mdlalose Bizana as Persephone, which was a major disappointment for me. Persephone is one of my favorite characters of the entire show and I don’t think she was done justice with Bizana’s portrayal. It is no secret in Hadestown that Persephone loves to self medicate with booze and drugs. She is so much more than that, though, and Bizana played her as a falling down drunk. This did little to add dimension to Persephone’s character and Bizana turned her into a caricature. On top of that, her vocals didn’t feel strong enough for such a boisterous lead and she seemed exhausted throughout the show.

It’s funny because I saw Jesus Christ Superstar at EJ Thomas Hall after seeing it at Playhouse Square. I was so surprised because it really was a comparable performance for the most part and there were even aspects that I liked better at EJ Thomas than at Playhouse. Having that experience going into Hadestown made me feel hopeful that we would still be seeing an excellent show despite my ambivalence. I am kind of bummed because regardless of the cast members that shined, this performance felt like a dress rehearsal and not even a good one. Major characters brought the whole cast down and that is a crying shame!

Although this performance of Hadestown was literally nothing to write home about, Johnny and I still had a fabulous time on our date night. Stay tuned for my OOTD coming soon!

What is your favorite musical? Have you seen a play or musical recently? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

SO Excited!!!

SO Excited!!!

Hello!! My favorite place in my neck of the woods has got to be Playhouse Square in Cleveland, hands down. I have seen countless amazing shows there with Johnny, friends, and family and have the fondest memories of each and every visit. Playhouse Square dates with Johnny are something I revel in and I consider our Valentine’s Day date of 2023 to be one of the best. That was when we saw Hadestown together and it skyrocketed into one of our all time favorite musicals.

Since seeing the show at Playhouse Square, we must have said over a million times that we would love to see Hadestown again. As fortune would have it, I received an email from EJ Thomas Hall in Akron for their spring lineup and Hadestown was on the bill. Does EJ Thomas hold a candle to Playhouse Square in terms of overall experience? IE: Venue, theater size, visibility of the stage. Absolutely not. But, I saw Jesus Christ Superstar there and it was a phenomenal effort for what it was. In fact, there were some parts of the show that I liked better than the Playhouse Square production of it that Johnny and I saw. (Also one of the best nights ever!!)

Although EJ Thomas isn’t my preferred venue, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for Johnny and I to enjoy Hadestown once more. I ordered us our tickets this weekend and scored awesome seats: Smack dab in the middle of the third row on the balcony. The best part? We will be seeing it the week after Valentine’s Day so it will be like a do over of our treasured V-Day date two years prior. This past week, I have been really trying to make space in my schedule for fun and purchasing these tickets was the perfect way to dip my toes in the water. We can’t wait!!

If Hadestown is playing in your area, RUN to go see it. You can thank me later when it becomes your favorite musical too. I am so lucky to be able to see this show twice for Valentine’s Day with my main squeeze!

What is your favorite musical? What is the best date you have ever been on? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

A Night At The (Movie) Theater OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Night At The (Movie) Theater OOTD! Last Saturday was one of the best nights ever because Johnny and I attended a screening of The Room hosted by Greg Sestero, AKA Mark. An event like this has been on my bucket list since I was fifteen and it finally happened almost exactly fifteen years later. Good things take time, I suppose! Maybe that’s why these bloopers turned out the way they did – this was an ultra speedy OOTD shoot because it was windy AF out lol. Let’s take a look:

Getting punched by my imaginary friend. OOF

I LOOK GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing that you might not know about yours truly is that I am not great at meeting new people. I definitely would consider myself an introverted extrovert and it takes me a while to get warmed up with people I’m not used to. I often leave these situations thinking “that wasn’t my best work”. Back in November, I was in an absolute tizzy before meeting Tim Misny for the first time so you could only imagine the state I was in before meeting Greg Sestero! Johnny, of course, was as cool as can be both times with his insistence of “he’s just a guy” lol.

I was a complete mess meeting Greg and I admit it wholeheartedly. It was just so crazy to be face to face with the person that I have seen more times than I can count in one of my all time favorite movies. I blabbered, I stuttered, and believe you me when I say I left that encounter feeling like the face palm emoji. Thankfully, Greg was just the nicest human being on planet Earth and I still felt welcomed while feeling ALL of the yikes. In fact, I sent him a Facebook message the following day and he replied! My best work? Not in a long shot. Still one of the best moments of my life? You KNOW it!

Meeting new people is difficult for me. Meeting celebrities is, clearly, even worse. But, hey, at least I own it!

Have you met any celebrities? What was an instance when a social situation wasn’t your best work? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

A Night At The (Movie) Theater OOTD

Hello! This past weekend was an absolutely fantastic one and was jam packed with SO many activities. Most noteworthy was on Saturday when we went to a screening of The Room at the Nightlight theater. This wasn’t just any screening, though, because it was hosted by Greg Sestero who played Mark! Meeting Greg was one of the best, most cool experiences of my life and Johnny and I are still in awe that we read lines from the script of The Room with him. For our night out, I put together a fun little look so let’s take a look:

image_50456321(14)image_50756865(3)image_50757377(2)image_50739201(5)image_50727425(5)image_50438657(7)

^^^ Ya’ll know I love me a brick wall! 😀

Who? What? Wear?

Leopard Print Blazer: Christian Siriano, TJMaxx

The Room T-Shirt: Christmas gift from my sister!

Coated Skinny Jeans: Seven Jeans, TJMaxx

Heeled Boots: Olivia Miller, TJMaxx

*** The turquoise cross earrings are Lucky Brand

For this OOTD, I wanted to be cute (of course) but I also wanted to be comfortable in the movie theater. I suppose I didn’t have to worry about the comfort level too much in hindsight, though, because Johnny and I sat in plush recliners and it was glorious! Regardless, I think I still would have worn the exact same thing because I love a blazer and skinny jean combo. It is casual yet oh so chic and I like that this look was more understated but still unique enough to be eye catching.

To begin this outfit, I started with the obvious. That being my T-shirt that my sister got me with Tommy Wiseau on it and the phrase “You’re tearing me apart, Lisa!”. I mean, you’re not going to not wear some Room merch to a screening of it. This shirt was actually on the merch table at the theater and Greg and I had a laugh that I already had one! And, trust and believe I had my own copy of The Room on DVD and The Disaster Artist locked and loaded in my purse for him to sign too. 🙂

The next thing I did was slip on my coated skinnies by Seven Jeans. These are one of my absolute favorite pairs and I love the surprise snakeskin pattern when the lighting hits just right. Because I was just wearing a T-shirt, I wanted to spice things up where I could and these jeans added a pop of visual interest that a normal pair of skinnies wouldn’t provide. Another perk of my Seven skinnies is that they make my legs look a mile long and that is difficult to come across on my barely over five foot one frame.

Once the base of my outfit was settled, I shopped the blazer department in my wardrobe and selected my leopard print blazer by Christian Siriano. This piece truly embraces the “comfy, but make it fashion” vibe I was looking to achieve. It is made out of the softest cloth material and it honestly felt like I was wrapping myself in a blanket rather than a blazer. Adding this little leopard print number also shows off the technique of mixing and matching patterns. Since the snakeskin pattern on the pants and the leopard print on the blazer were both fairly subdued, I got away with putting them together. They also featured a similar color palette so they worked in tandem rather than clashing.

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. For shoes, I went with one of my favorite pairs of heeled boots by Olivia Miller. They provided an extra boost of length as well as a touch of bling with the silver chain because I didn’t plan on adding much jewelry. When you are mixing and matching patterns, that serves as an accessory in itself. So, I popped on a pair of turquoise cross earrings for a bit of color and was ready for my Night At The (Movie) Theater!

I had the best night out with my Johnny and I think I looked my best too. Here’s to many more screenings of The Room together! ❤

Do you have any questions about mixing and matching patterns? What is your favorite cult film? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

A Night At The Theater OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Night At The Theater OOTD! Yesterday, you saw the look I created for an evening at Playhouse Square to see The Wiz. The show was absolutely wonderful, but the picture taking experience? Yeah… Not so much. Yesterday, I told you to stay tuned to find out why the amount of OOTD pictures was severely lacking and that is what we’re going to discuss today. Not until we look at these blurry yikes shots, of course! Let’s get to it:

image_50737665(7)

Normally when Johnny and I go to a Playhouse Square show, we make a whole event of it. We’ll go out to dinner, get a drink at our favorite bar in the area, then head to the main attraction. Having this time out before we’re even at the theater gives the perfect opportunity to take pictures away from a huge crowd. And, of course, it’s so much fun! Seeing The Wiz, however, was different because Johnny and I felt like taking it easy for the day and going straight to the show.

This was totally fine with me because we were both wiped out from a long work week. However, I had forgotten how difficult it is to take pictures at Playhouse Square! It basically sucks. We arrived at the theater with about forty-five minutes to spare to hit up the bathroom, take pictures, and get drinks. Had I planned better, we would have taken pictures at any old place beforehand. But, alas, I didn’t and it was a mad dash because everyone was arriving at the theater when we were.

Taking pictures at Playhouse Square is a delicate dance. You have to stake out a spot and pray that you have thirty or so seconds without anyone walking by. Much easier said than done! Not only is it hard to take the pictures to begin with, but they never turn out good anyways. The lighting outside of the Connor Palace is so low and yellowy and it isn’t what is needed for a quality shot. Not to mention that every single picture turns out blurry AF and I’m not sure why. I was lucky to get three pics that I was somewhat happy with!

Next time Johnny and I don’t have a pre-date before the actual date of seeing a show, I know better than to think we will be able to take pictures at the theater. This was a massive, epic failure for OOTD shots. A huge win for bloopers, though! 😀

Where is your favorite place to take pictures? How early do you arrive for an event you are attending? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

A Night At The Theater OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! Last weekend, Johnny and I enjoyed a fantastic evening at Playhouse Square where we saw The Wiz. Like TJMaxx, Playhouse Square is my happy place. I love attending the excellent plays and musicals that are put on and, of course, I love the fashion. Getting dressed to the nines for A Night At The Theater brings me great joy and it is such fun to see other people’s interpretation of a night out look. This is mine:

image_50415361(7)image_50445313(5)image_50452993(5)

^^^ Wondering why there are so few pictures? Find out during the blooper reel tomorrow!

Who? What? Wear?

Topper Jacket: Happily Grey, TJMaxx

Sweater Dress: Forever 21

Lace Cami Top: mittoshop, French Rooster

Snakeskin Pattern Boots: Marc Fisher, TJMaxx

Hoop Earrings: Argentino Vivo, TJMaxx

The necklace was my grandma’s ❤

A few days before attending The Wiz, I purchased my new Happily Grey topper jacket from TJMaxx and I knew that I wanted to wear it to the show. Playhouse Square is the fanciest place that Johnny and I go to and the topper jacket screams luxury to me, making it a perfect choice. The look that I styled for our date night is actually what I pictured in my head when I first tried the jacket on. I am pleased to report that it turned out exactly how I envisioned and I felt like the belle of the ball!

To start, I put on my burnt orange sweater dress from Forever 21. This dress is literally old as dirt, but I wasn’t concerned about it because I kept my jacket on all night. It was also a strategic decision to wear it. The color was just what I needed for the rich fall palette I was establishing and most importantly, it had length. While the jacket would have been fine over jeans and a top, I wanted something more than that. The sweater dress was high low, hitting at the bottom of my knees and down to my ankles and it gave the peek a boo pop I pictured underneath the jacket. (It is worth mentioning that for the sake of being warm, I did wear jeans under the dress. It was freaking freezing the night of the show! This dress was also quite low cut, but that is nothing a lace trimmed cami top can’t fix.)

Next, it was onto shoes and accessories and I had just the pair in mind. For shoes, I selected my gorgeous pair of cobalt blue snakeskin pattern heeled boots by Marc Fisher. I am so enamored with them! I love the more burnished hues of fall like the gold in the jacket and orange of the dress. However, I wanted to perk things up by adding in a jewel tone and these boots gave me that opportunity. Their length was also ideal because they hit right where the “high” portion of the sweater dress ended. This allowed for the jeans I had on to be fully covered and kept the outfit moving seamlessly from piece to piece.

Finally, it was time to wrap things up with accessories. Because a more delicate pair of earrings would have gotten lost amidst the faux fur jacket collar, I went bold with a huge pair of gold hoop earrings. These babies by Argentino Vivo are my favorite! I thought that the earrings would be enough, but the outfit felt like it was missing something. To fill the open real estate on my neck, I chose a beautiful necklace from my grandma of forest green. It tied the outfit together perfectly and added another color to my All Fall Everything palette.

I felt like a star in this OOTD and it’s always nice when an outfit I dreamed up turns out the way I wanted without making any tweaks. Johnny and I had a fabulous Night At The Theater and here’s to many more!

What is the fanciest place that you go to? Do you go to the theater often? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

A Night At The Theater OOTD Bloopers

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Night At The Theater OOTD! Johnny and I had a wonderful date night seeing Moulin Rouge at Playhouse Square and it was a whirlwind event. We had to stop by my parents’ to get the tickets, make the fifty minute trek to the Taco Bell and the Funhouse where we kick started the night, and make it to Playhouse Square by seven when the doors to the theater opened. With so much to do and no time to waste, we had to take OOTD shots in record timing. In fact, it might have been one of my most successful shoots yet because there weren’t too many bloopers to choose from! Check it out:

That look of pre TBell anticipation

Willing our food to get done faster with my gaze. We were hungry!

image_50739457(2)

Don’t mind my face, just mind how cool the fringe looks in this shot! 😀

image_50753793

I LOOK GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

image_50458113(4)

Finesse, style, poise. Straight working it.

image_50448641(7)

I genuinely have no idea what warranted this reaction!! 😮

image_50450689(2)

When I say we took rapid fire pictures outside of the Funhouse, it was the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. After we got our Taco Bell, we walked over to the bar to eat it there. However, one of my pre OOTD quirks is that I’d really rather not eat before I take pictures. No, this is not because of a weight thing as I could truly care less. This is just pure laziness on my part lol. Once my makeup is on and lipstick is applied, the last thing that I want to do is eat, do touch ups, wipe the remnants of lipstick off, and put it back on again. I mean I could… I just don’t want to! And, at the end of the day, Johnny and I would rather get pictures out of the way at the jump so I can be done working and enjoy the date.

I promised Johnny that our photo shoot would be and I quote “so, so fast” and I delivered results, baby! I think we might have taken two minutes worth of pictures and called it. In that time, I checked on progress once, adjusted a few things, checked on progress again, and was happy with what we had and that was good enough for me. It’s funny because in this speedy session, I was pleased with more pictures than I usually am with an upwards of ten minutes shoot. Hence, the lack of bloopers. What can I say, I guess I thrive when it’s crunch(wrap) time!

The moral of this story? I should start treating every OOTD shoot like Johnny and I are about to dig into Taco Bell. Hey, whatever works right?! 😀

What is a “lazy” quirk about you? What is something that you don’t like to do before taking pictures? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

A Night At The Theater OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred!! Yesterday, you read my review for mine and Johnny’s date night viewing of Moulin Rouge at Playhouse Square. Today, we will be checking out what I wore for our Night At The Theater. Half of the fun of going to a show is getting dressed up! It’s a blast to not only get dolled up yourself, but to see what other people are rocking for their theater’s best. I LOVED the look that I put together so let’s get to it:

image_50726913(2)image_50455553(2)image_50732801(1)(1)image_50442753(8)image_50727169(7)

Who? What? Wear?

Floral Dress: ModCloth, Coconinno

Fringe Shawl: TJMaxx, Laundry

Black Heels: Show Story

Gold Earrings: American Eagle Outfitters

When I am styling OOTDs for Playhouse Square, it is important to me to create looks that are glam and unique. As I mentioned, a lot of the fun for me comes from styling and I want fits that make me stand out in the crowd of theatergoers. This particular outfit was a little ditty that I came up with in my head and it turned out exactly how I pictured it. I love when that happens! 😀

Let’s start with the dress. It’s actually kind of funny, I got this dress by Coconinno from ModCloth when my brother got married in 2015. This is the first time I have worn it since then and I am pleased to report that it still fit like a charm lol. Why haven’t I worn it in almost a decade, you might ask? I don’t know, honestly! It’s beautiful, of course, but I just never felt like I had another occasion to wear it for. So, it sat sentinel in my closet for years.

This dress wasn’t my first option, but I realized that I had exhausted all of the pieces that I would normally wear for a Playhouse outing. The remainder of the clothes I had to pick from were too casual for both the setting and a show like Moulin Rouge that examines the finer things in life. This dress was an afterthought and now I don’t know why I didn’t wear it sooner! The fit was divine and the big, gorgeous blooms in a jewel toned palette made me feel like the star of the show.

As I styled this outfit in my head, I knew that the dress itself wasn’t going to be enough. It was too hot for a jacket and my faux fur shawls were a been there done that accessory. The solution? The adorably charming fringe shawl by Laundry! I am obsessed with this piece from the flowery lace to the hanging tassels. Once it was on, it almost looked like it could have been part of the dress and that is what I was hoping for. Something that looked built in rather than simply placed on top.

Next on the agenda was shoes and I chose the heels by Show Story that I wore for mine and Johnny’s wedding. With so much wedding attire in one look, I should have put my veil on too! A dress like the one I was wearing was begging for a killer pair of pumps, which is a style that I don’t own any pairs in other than my wedding heels. These were the obvious and only choice and the vertebrae heel added the edge that is a necessary part of all of my looks.

Finally, it was time to accessorize and all I did was wear a small gold dangly pair of earrings from American Eagle Outfitters. There were several reasons for this minimal approach. 1) Long earrings or a necklace would have taken away from the neckline that was established. 2) The bold dress pattern and the fringe shawl served as accessories in themselves. 3) A lot of my tattoos were visible and I prefer for them to do the talking. With all of that in mind, why would I need anything more than a little touch of bling?

I have styled countless looks for Playhouse Square shows and this one is definitely in my top three. I felt awesome in it and my vision came to life perfectly. Keep it posted for bloopers and pics from the rest of our Moulin Rouge extravaganza coming soon!

What is your favorite occasion to dress for? What is the oldest piece of clothing you have in your closet? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my A Night On The Town OOTD! This look was one of my favorite ones that I have put together recently and we discussed yesterday how “elegant” was the keyword that I styled around. My perfect night out is going to the theater for a show and I had been looking forward to this past Tuesday for a long while. I wasn’t going to not see Jesus Christ Superstar if it was coming to Akron (the theater was fifteen minutes away from my apartment) and I had a blast with my mother-in-law. It has been a FAT minute since Lil Red has had a good day due to personal matters and even though these pictures are hit AF, I can tell how happy I was in every single one. It was nice!

While I freaking love a good pity party and becoming one with my couch after a long day, sometimes the best cure for the blues is to just get up and go. My day on Tuesday was a tiring one and even though I was exhausted by the time I needed to prep for the show, I decided to get dolled up anyways. I had styled an OOTD for every show I have ever attended and I wasn’t about to break the streak! Once my outfit was on and pictures were taken, I had a newfound pep in my step and was bouncing off the walls in excitement until it was time to leave.

You have no idea how many times in the past almost year I have heard “take time for you” amidst a family crisis. This was one of the first “me time” things that I have done in so long and it felt awesome. What can I say, my favorite musical just brings out the best in me! A wonderful time was had by all and I am thrilled with how my outfit and pictures turned out. And, yes, even the bloopers because they are still a memento of my night on the town!

What puts you in a good mood? What do you like to do when you need some you time? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
