Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In Chocolate Shimmer

Hello! Today, we are going to take a look at a lovely shade of chocolate brown from the Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions palette. With the slightest hint of shimmer and a deep, rich hue, this color was a hit for me. Finally! The eyeshadow we are chatting about is in the middle of the bottom row:

I think that the shades in the brown family are extremely underrated when it comes to eye makeup. It makes for such a rich, warm, and different MOTD and I really like that. You can create such a nice, smokey effect with brown makeup and, in a lot of ways, it’s more striking than your traditional grey smokey eye because it’s not seen as often. I fell in love with a gorgeous shade of brown in my Elf Nude Rose Gold palette and, since then, I’ve learned to never underestimate the power of a delicious shade of chocolate eyeshadow.

I like this Chocolate Shimmer shade from the Emerald Obsessions palette for a few reasons. First, I like that, for the most part, it is a pure shade of brown. As you can see, there is a bit of gold mixed in but, I see it more as a caramel drizzle, as opposed to a tone that overpowers the whole eyeshadow, which is a problem that I had with some of the other colors. I also am happy that the shimmer in this shade is fairly subtle. It’s not too much or too little and it allows for the color to still be sophisticated while still having that extra touch of fun. So pretty!

Which color do you think is underrated when it comes to eye makeup? What is your favorite unexpected shade of makeup to wear? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In Gold Shimmer

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In Gold Shimmer

Hello! We are going to keep trucking through the Emerald Obsessions eyeshadow palette by Huda Beauty because, as a benevolent blogger, I give the people what they want! In today’s post, we are going to be swatching another one of the gold shimmer shades that the palette offers, which you can see in the bottom right corner:

And, now, let’s take a closer look:

^^^ The first heart is the eyeshadow wet and the second one is when it’s dry.

I was looking forward to swatching the second gold shimmer shadow in this palette but, unfortunately, it missed the mark for me like the first one. But, unlike the gold shade in the top left corner having the tinge of green to it that I really didn’t care for, this hue is just way too yellow-y for my liking. I thought the color was going to be more saturated but, it ended up applying in a sad, pale yellow both when wet and dry. Whomp whomp.

I don’t plan on using this color, because all it is going to do is wash me out big time. With really pale skin and red hair, my complexion takes to the bold, rich colors. Anything too dull and it just makes me look sunken and blah. Not a good look. Fingers crossed that the swatch in tomorrow’s post makes for a good one, because my batting average of only liking one of the three colors viewed is pretty weak!

Which colors work best with your complexion? Which eyeshadow from this palette should I swatch next? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In Emerald Glitter

Hello! As per request of some of my darling fellow bloggers, today we are going to swatch the gorgeous emerald glitter eyeshadow from my Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions palette. As a little reminder, the palette looks like this:

And the glitter shade smack dab in the middle of the palette looks like this. Voila!

emeraldemerald1emerald2

^^^ The first heart is the eyeshadow wet and the second one is when it’s dry.

The gold glitter color that we reviewed a few days ago was definitely a miss for me, so I’m glad that this emerald shade knocked it out of the park! Emerald is my favorite hue in the green family and, although the eyeshadow is still pretty dusty when it’s dry, that is no matter, because I normally always wear my shadow wet, anyways. This color when it’s wet is so rich and saturated and I love that it has that little touch of glitter to it but it doesn’t overpower the entire eyeshadow.

I was fairly worried about not liking this palette after such a disastrous first swatch, but this emerald glitter shade set it back on the right track, for sure. I can see myself using this color often and am looking forward to trying it out once it’s not a total pain in the buttinski to do my makeup routine every morning. Friggen surgery, man. -___-

Hiii everyone and welcome to our first swatch post from the Emerald Obsessions palette by Huda Beauty. For those of you who need a reminder, the palette looks like this:

Today, we are going to be talking about the gold glitter shade in the top left corner. Take a look at some pics and let’s get to it:

^^^ The first heart is the eyeshadow wet and the second one is when it’s dry.

I’m going to be honest, my first impression of the quality of this eyeshadow is not the best. I have never used Huda Beauty products before but, when I applied the dry shadow, it was really crumbly and hard to spread. Even when wet, the color just didn’t have the nice, smooth application that should come with putting on an eyeshadow.

Not only that, but taking it off was a major pain in the behind, too. I took a washcloth with micellar water to my swatched hand and the glitter just would not come off. So, my left hand is definitely looking very Edward Cullen a la Twilight right now. All things glitter is fun when it comes to makeup but, it needs to be able to come off just as well as it applies and the Huda Beauty eyeshadow did not have either of these important factors going for it.

And, as far as the color goes, I’m shockingly not very fond of it. I love me a gold shadow more than anything but, it has this really off putting pale green undertone to it, which makes the color look sickly rather than decadent. I get that they wanted this shade to have a hint of green in it, because it is the Emerald Obsessions palette. But, was this really necessary? No, because I can’t see myself using this color and it was initially my favorite one. Whomp whomp.

How does everyone feel about Huda Beauty products? What is your favorite eyeshadow palette? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hi everyone and Happy 2019! Today, we are going to take a closer look at the Emerald Obsessions palette by Huda Beauty that my sister gifted me with this Christmas. It is absolutely gorgeous and filled with matte and glitter gold, green, and brown eyeshadow – perfect for playing up my hazel eyes! Check it out:

None of these eyeshadows have names, but they sure are spectacular. The glitter gold in the top left corner and the emerald green right in the middle are my favorites and I cannot wait to paint my eyelids with them once I feel up to doing my makeup again. During the next few days on lifewithlilred, we will be going through some of the highlight shades from the Emerald Obsessions palette with swatches so be on the lookout for colors that will make you green with envy!

What is your favorite color from this palette? Which shade would you like to see swatched? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Snakebite

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Snakebite

Hi everyone and welcome to my final swatch from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette! Today, I saved the best for last because this shade is definitely what I would consider my number one fave. The color that we’re going to be looking at is called Snakebite and, in my opinion, it is the perfect combination of sexy and edgy. And, I want to send an extra special thanks to my sister for so generously donating the Smoky and Naked 2 palettes to the Lil Red Foundation! Now, take a look at some pics and let’s discuss:

snakebitesnakebite1snakebite2

^^^ The first heart is the color wet and the second one is when it’s dry.

When you first look at Snakebite, you might think that it’s typical Sarah because of the bronze hues that you immediately see. But, upon further inspection, you can really see more brown undertones with this cool filmy green mixed in, like algae. The bronze is just added in for good measure and that is more apparent when the eyeshadow is wet, as you can see above.

The metallic pop in this color gives it some sex appeal but, the overall look feels much more edgy. Snakebite reminds me a lot of my Furless eyeshadow in Sinister and that is an excellent word for my new hue. The color feels foreboding and wicked but, damn, is it chic! I have already worn Snakebite quite a bit since I’ve acquired it on Thanksgiving and I am so looking forward to wearing it more. Spooky chic is my style and there’s nothing like a new eyeshadow that embodies it to add an extra confidence boost!

What has been your favorite shade from the Urban Decay palettes? Are there any other colors that you would like for me to swatch? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Verve

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Verve

Hi everyone and welcome to another eyeshadow swatch here on lifewithlilred! The color that we will be chatting about today is from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette and it is a lovely champagne shimmer shade that makes me want to pop some bubbly and be bougie all day long. But, then again, when do I not want to do that?! Take a look at Verve and let’s discuss:

verveverve1verve2

^^^ The first heart is the color wet and the second one is when it’s dry.

While the Urban Decay Smoky palette is all about sultry sex appeal, the Naked 2 palette gets its kicks with sweet touches of glitz. The champagne pop color of Verve is the perfect shade to apply on your eye’s inner corner as well as a little below the bottom lid to brighten up your peepers with every use. It is also a versatile color, too. Because it’s so light and shimmery, Verve can absolutely be used as a highlighter, if need be.

Now, normally, I only wear my eyeshadows wet, because I love a deeper more saturated color. And, when wet, Verve is stunning. But, I’d be a liar if I said that I didn’t love the pixie dust feel of the shadow when it’s dry! Use this color to apply over your eye makeup to make it look like Tinkerbell danced across your lids. A perfect little trick for all of the upcoming New Year’s Eve parties!

Do you prefer a more sweet or sultry eye makeup look? What color of eyeshadow do you wear most frequently? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Chopper

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Chopper

Hi everyone! Today, we are moving on to Urban Decay’s Naked 2 palette and taking a look at some of my favorites. This palette was a hand me down from my sister, Kristen, and I really like it. But, I’m pleased to say that I definitely own the drugstore dupe of it! For ten dollars, the Nude Rose Gold palette by Elf featured a lot of the same shades for a fraction of the cost. So, that’s a little pro tip for you if you love this Naked palette but don’t want to spend the cash on it. In case you forgot what the Naked 2 eyeshadow set looks like, here it is:

And, the color that I am going to feature today is the charming rose gold shade called Chopper. Check it out:

^^^ The top heart is Chopper wet and the second one is when it’s dry.

I bet you guys thought that I was going to go for the bronze shades in this post, huh? Haha, although I do deeply love my gold and bronze shadows, this past year has been about all rose gold everything in the beauty and fashion world. So, it only seemed fitting to showcase the lovely shade, Chopper, as we talk about the Naked 2 palette.

Rose gold is a fantastic color, because it’s flattering on literally any person no matter their skin tone. It’s a shade that looks universally good whether it be used on makeup, clothing, or accessories and it’s just darn right chic and sweet. I do love this shade from the Naked palette but, it did not apply well when it was dry at all. It was flaky, the color was dusty, and it didn’t do anything for me. But, when it was wet, it applied like BUTTAH so that’s something to remember if you’re interested in these palettes.

Despite some application issues, Chopper is still a beautiful shade and I can definitely see myself wearing it. The fact that it doesn’t stray far from my favorite golden color palette doesn’t hurt, either!

Do you like the Urban Decay Smoky or Naked 2 palette better? What is your favorite color from the Naked 2 palette? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Whiskey

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Whiskey

Hi! My final favorite from my Smoky Naked palette by Urban Decay is a delicious chocolate brown called Whiskey. A yummy drink and an even more enticing shade, this color lives up to its namesake and is a perfect blender shade or a cool new substitute for plain old black. Take a look at some pics and let’s discuss:

whiskeywhiskey1whiskey2

^^^ The first heart is the color wet and the second is when it’s dry.

I used to shy away from eyeshadow shades in brown back in the day, because I dubbed it as a “boring” color. But, now, I use it fairly frequently when I’m doing my makeup. I love how a rich, chocolate brown looks when paired with a deep purple or a pale pink, which are also colors that I use often. When worn together, these colors create a fresh take on a standard smoky eye and it looks just as come hither as it would when done with traditional colors.

I also like using brown eyeshadows as an eyeliner on my top lid to change things up from time to time. I never wear black eyeliner on top, because it looks too harsh on me but, chocolate brown is a softer alternative that is much more flattering. Whiskey is a great eyeliner shade, too, because it offers that little hint of sparkle but the color is still deep enough to line your lid thoroughly to make your MOTD pop.

Be sure to tune in tomorrow as we move on to the Naked 2 palette!

What eye makeup color do you use as an alternative to black? What is your favorite shade in the Naked Smoky palette? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Armor

Standard
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Swatch In Armor

Hello everyone and welcome back to some more swatches from the Urban Decay Naked palettes. The metallic silver seen below called “Armor” is from the Smoky palette and I am a huge fan. Once upon a time, I used to use a metallic silver eyeliner from The Body Shop and it was the best. I used this eyeliner all of the time and, then, out of nowhere it gave my eyes an awful reaction. They must have changed the formula or something, because both of my peepers turned red and grossly swollen within minutes. It was disgusting! Ever since then, I’ve never bought a silver eyeliner or shadow to compensate for my TBS one, so it’s nice to have Armor in my arsenal. Take a look:

armorarmor1armor2

^^^ The big heart is the eyeshadow wet and the smaller one is when it’s dry.

Although Armor is pretty when its dry, the wet color is where it’s at. The striking, metallic silver with that slightest hint of gunmetal grey makes for a shade that will give your eyes a pop with an unexpected color. Silver is a very underrated eye makeup color, so I’m looking forward to bringing it back after all of those years of not using my TBS eyeliner.

When it comes to wearing any eyeshadow, I always wet my Q-tip applicator before I apply. I love the saturated pigment when the shadow is wet and the dry color just doesn’t cut it. Through my swatching research, I am finding that the Urban Decay colors don’t apply very well when dry, but the application is like BUTTAH when it’s wet. Although this might be annoying to some, it’s great for me, especially because I love this shade when it’s wet oh so much!

Do you prefer your eyeshadow wet or dry? What is the best drugstore or high end brand of eyeshadow? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
