New White & Red Glitter Nails

Howdy! I am one of those people that isn’t a fan of seasonal nails because I’d rather my color palette work for a month rather than one day. I went into my pre-Christmas fill at Elysian Nails with that sentiment on my mind and was thinking some gold glitter. A festive touch sans full fledged holly jolly flare. So tell me why I ended up with the most Christmas-y nails ever?! Lol all of my sentiments went out the window when I saw these two colors in the nail polish book. I didn’t even put two and two together until the polish was on SMH! Check it out:

As I browsed the nail polish book, nothing was really screaming out at me until I was seeing red. They don’t call me Lil Red for nothing, I guess! The shade of red I selected is one of my all time favorites and I actually used it for my Halloween nails. I just love that deep shade of garnet and they remind me of Dorothy’s ruby slippers. Gold would have looked nice with this but glitter white hues were directly above the red and I forgot all about it. The white glitter I picked out looks like crushed diamonds and as they are a girl’s best friend I couldn’t say no!

After choosing my colors and sitting down at my tech’s station, I was too focused on chatting it up to reevaluate. My go to girl had the day off during my last fill and we had so much to catch up on! Life, books, TV shows, food, and ALL the things. By the time my nails were drying, I realized that the color palette is Santa suit chic and I just had to laugh. This is not my normal style at all for holiday nails but you know what? I kind of like it! Maybe the glitter has me distracted, maybe it’s just pure fun, or both but I can’t wait to tear into my prezzies with these perfectly Christmas talons. 😀

This fill had unexpected results but delighted me all the same. I think I’ll do gold and silver glitter for New Years so bring on more bling, baby!

Are you getting your hair or nails done for the holidays? What are you planning on getting? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Grape & Deep Purple Nails

Hello! I treated myself to a fabulous fill this past Tuesday and it was so nice to spend an hour getting pampered while I was on break. I have to admit that I was a bit sad to say goodbye to my Halloween nails to compliment my pirate costume but I was excited to explore new colors for fall. Come fall time, I feel like I see endless shades of brown and nude nail polishes and that is not me in the slightest. I adore the gem tones when it comes to fall hues and wanted to go that route for a fresh take on a fall fill. One of the colors was actually not what I had in mind but I loved how it turned out anyways. Talk about a happy accident! Check it out:

As I browsed through the nail polish book, I immediately was drawn to the grape color and moved onto my next shade. Nearby was a deep indigo (Or so I thought!) and that was the winner. When I requested the colors to my tech, she came back verifying that I chose two purples and in my head I was like “huh” lol. What I took as indigo was a really deep purple! I didn’t want to bother with swapping it out and just decided to go for it and I’m so glad I did. My tech and I were swooning over this color combo once all was said and done and she thought it looked “Victorian”. I couldn’t agree more and it was just the Lil Red take on fall colors I was hoping for despite the mix up!

My time spent at Elysian Nails can’t be beat and I recommend the salon to any and everyone. This includes my mom, mother in law, friends, and anyone looking for recommendations on Talk Of The Town pages on Facebook. Earlier in the day, I scheduled my next fill for myself in December as well as a manicure for my mom. Literally thirty seconds after I scheduled my mom’s mani, I got a text from the salon owner asking who it was for lol. He knew darn well I will never be without my acrylics and when I arrived at the salon, we shared a laugh and he said “It could never be you”! That just shows the level of service Elysian Nails provides. Everyone from the owner to the techs knows the clients and I really appreciated that he went out of his way to double check. ❤

I am already chomping at the bit for my next fill and can’t wait to take my mom to her mani appointment – not mine!!!

How do you like to treat yourself? What color of nail polish are you rocking? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Black & Red Glitter Nails

New Black & Red Glitter Nails

Hello! This past Tuesday I was treated to a fabulous break time fill at Elysian Nails. It is always the best little midday pick me up and I was excited to get colors that would match my Halloween costume’s aesthetic. This year, Johnny and I are going to be pirates and recently purchased our costumes. Mine features a heaping dose of sexiness and a red, black, white, and gold motif. I had a general idea in my head for my nails but these colors are FIRE and completely exceeded my expectations! Check it out:

As red and black are my two favorite colors, it’s no surprise that that was the color combo I gravitated towards! The garnet glitter polish for my red selection was everything and reminds me of Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. They shimmer and shine like nobody’s business and I seriously can’t stop looking at them! I wanted to compliment the red with some black glitter polish but there was none to be had. So, my nail tech created her own with a gorgeous sparkle top coat. The shine provided was so intense it made me think of crushed diamonds and this combination is going to be absolutely perfect for my pirate costume!

I got a full set during my last appointment so my acrylics were in really good condition. They just needed shaped, sharpened, and a tiny repair or two and my pampering session was complete in forty-five minutes. It was a new record and it gave me time for my nails to fully dry before heading back to work! During my appointments, my tech and I catch up on all of the latest and greatest and love discussing documentaries, books, and anime. I recently started watching Death Note (It is AMAZING!) and was delighted to learn she did too. What are the odds of that?! I can’t wait to come back next month so we can delve further into the series, which will basically be us just fan girling about how good it is. 😀

Stay tuned for a sneak peek of my pirate costume coming soon. You will definitely agree that these fierce acrylics are the perfect match!

New Raspberry & Mauve Nails

New Raspberry & Mauve Nails

Hello! This past Friday was a wonderful one. After work, I treated myself to a brand new full set at Elysian Nails and then had a delicious dinner with my birthday girl bestie at one of our favorite restaurants. My day concluded by playing Lego 2K Drive with Johnny and it was the perfect way to break in my new nails! It has felt so gloriously fall in good ol’ Akron, Ohio and I wanted to pick some colors to ring in the best season of all. It was bye bye to my neon hues from last month and hello to an updated Strawberry Shortcake palette. Check it out:

I absolutely live for fall fashion. Part of it is because I come alive in a good cardigan or jacket and the other part is loving fall colors. Burnt orange, gem tones, and deep berry hues play an integral part in the many gorgeous shades of fall and I hate to toot my own horn but they all look really nice on me too lol! With fall colors weighing heavily on my mind since last fall, I was so excited to pick out nail polish colors to match the autumn aesthetic. As soon as I opened the nail polish book, my eyes instantly locked in on the deep raspberry sample nail and it was a winner. For my complimentary shade, I went for a mauve polish and the pair had me feeling like a grown up Strawberry Shortcake!

It has been a phat minute since I got a full set and it took around an hour and forty-five minutes in total. The process would have been quicker but I need my nails soaked off no ifs, ands, or buts. I have a pretty high pain tolerance but I simply cannot do popping off acrylics. It makes me hurt just thinking about it! Once the nails were soaked off, my new acrylics couldn’t get placed soon enough. It’s SO weird seeing my hands without my signature claws! Just as soon as they were off, fresh new talons were well on their way and all that was left to do was sit back and relax. When I get a fill, I go during my break at work and the pressure of returning on time is always in the back of my mind. This time around, I had nothing to do but be pampered, chat away with my beloved tech, and anticipate a dinner out with my best girl. ❤

New nails, who dis?! I can’t think of a better way to welcome my happy fall time than with some fresh new acrylics with a color palette to match!

What is your favorite fall color? What color of nail polish are you rocking? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Neon Orange & Pink Nails

New Neon Orange & Pink Nails

Hi!! This past Tuesday was a big day for yours truly. I had a nail appointment, a shopping trip to TJMaxx, and went to see The Struts at the House Of Blues for my birthday that night. It was SO fun to get primped and pampered, shop for a sassy addition to my planned OOTD, and show everything off at the concert! It definitely made the day feel like a birthday adventure even though it has been two months since I turned thirty-one. Elysian Nails was where the extravaganza started and I wanted to go bright with the colors for two reasons. 1) It would be fab for the concert. And 2) It would also be a final hurrah for summer colors. Check it out:

Elysian Nails has a nail polish wall and several books that are exclusive to gel and dip colors. Before, I would browse the polish wall for my selection. My past two fills, however, I have been able to consult the books! Elysian recently got a collection of gel polishes with matching nail polish and I have loved exploring brand new colors. It was incredibly easy to make a decision on what colors I wanted to use because they were actually side by side in the book of beauty: A neon orange and pink. They looked so good paired together that I didn’t even bother thinking about other options!

Have you ever had a fill when as soon as your tech starts working on your nails, you know damn well you should have got a full set instead? That is exactly what happened when my go to girl started working her magic. One of my nails had popped off a few days before and that needed tending to. I didn’t realize as soon as the polish was off that everything needed tending to! They were SO janky with lifts and regrowth and I felt terrible that my tech had to deal with all that mess. As always, she dealt with it in genius fashion and by the time she was done, it was as if I had got a full set anyways. They felt so strong and sturdy and looked amazing to boot. A full set is DEFINITELY in order next time though and I can’t wait to spend an evening at my happy place next month. ❤

A great concert needed great everything, nails included. Shout out to my tech for always getting me right!

New Plum & Lavender Glitter Nails

New Plum & Lavender Glitter Nails

Hello! This past Tuesday was a doozy of a day but my nails were looking fierce all the while thanks to my monthly break time fill. It was so nice to have some calm before the storm before running here, there, and everywhere! I was also most excited about this fill because at my last one, I learned that there were brand new colors to choose from but I bypassed it at the time as I already loved what I picked out. This time around, I went straight to the new color book instead of the intimidating nail polish wall and decided on a pretty in purple motif. Check it out:

Normally, I have no problem picking out my new nail polish colors with each fill. My job was much harder at this one because ALL of the new colors were just so fun. There were plenty of sparkly glitter options, punchy and bright summer colors, and the promise of a combination that I’ve never used before. It was intoxicating! Despite all of the poppy summer hues, my eyes were immediately drawn to a rich plum shade. Purple is my niece’s favorite color (Or as she would call it when she was teeny tiny “purdle”) and I knew that she would be obsessed when she saw it! To compliment the plum, I chose a lavender glitter polish that literally shines bright like a diamond (Love you, Rihanna!). With that, I was ready for the pampering to begin!

When I am getting my nails done, there typically comes a point when I just like to sit back and enjoy. However, my tech and I had SO much to catch up on because she wasn’t available to do my fill at my last appointment. I honestly wasn’t even paying attention to my nails because it was a full on gab sesh! When I thought to look down, I was always shocked by the progress made: A repair for a broken nail, the sharpening, and shaping were done as quickly as our conversation was moving. Before I knew it, it was time for polish and it was truly before I knew it because my tech set a new record for herself! It was the absolute best time and I wish I could have stayed at the salon all day. ❤

My work day post fill was crazy but my nails were looking crazy good and it definitely provided the pep in my step I needed to make it through!

New Mermaid Blue & Glitter Burnt Orange Nails

New Mermaid Blue & Glitter Burnt Orange Nails

Howdy!! This past Tuesday, I enjoyed a lovely pre-birthday fill at Elysian Nails and oh my goodness did it hit the spot. Unfortunately, my go to girl was booked for the day but my former tech was able to squeeze me in and she still remembers just how I like my talons – nice and sharp! In fact, I am typing this shortly after getting them done and I feel like such a lil baddie clacking away with these pretty little things. Check it out:

^^^ Don’t mind the beaucoup glue on the thumb!

Whenever I get my nails done, I tend to just let the nail polish wall speak to me and choose colors on a whim. This time, though, I actually had a plan in mind. After receiving lots of tropical Bath & Body Works scents for my birthday, I had the beach on the brain hard. I was thinking of going with sand and surf vibes with a pretty blue and gold. The only problem was, I had been there done that and wanted to go with a similar idea with a twist. I fell in love with the most gorgeous mermaid blue hue I have ever seen (I am seriously obsessed!) and considered a few different options before landing on a glittery burnt orange. I am so glad I decided to shake things up because this is, easily, one of my favorite combinations in recent memory.

Once my colors were selected, my girl got to WERK and gave me the most fabulous fill. As always, I am on a time crunch when I get my nails done because I need to be back to work immediately after. Of course, my former tech remembered this too and gave me beautifully shaped and dangerously sharp claws in an astoundingly short period of time. Have you ever had a fill that was so good that you ended up feeling like you got a brand spanking new full set? That’s what this fill felt like and it was a glorious sensation. I returned to work exactly on time and feeling like a billion bucks!

I am entering my 31st year with the absolute best nails and if that is any inkling of how this year is going to treat me, I think it’s going to be a banner one!

How do you like to treat yourself? Which color of nail polish should I get next? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Cherry & Orange Nails

New Cherry & Orange Nails

Hello!! I have had an incredible couple of days of pampering compliments of Elysian Nails. This past Friday, I enjoyed a pedicure appointment with Johnny’s mom and aunt and it was heavenly! I haven’t gotten a pedicure since last year and just like the last time, I left the salon wondering why the heck I don’t do that more often. Then, I remembered my talons which always take priority over toes! After getting my tootsies right, I was back at the salon a few days later for a fill featuring the sweetest Cherry and Orange combo. Check it out:

During my last fill, I was feeling an orange and pink combo. However, my tech showed me some brand new colors and I fell in love with the prettiest light pink and purple glitter polishes. I vowed to do the original colors I had in mind at my next appointment and it definitely made the daunting task of selecting nail polish a breeze! Granted, I couldn’t even remember the colors I was going to use but, hey, I knew it was orange and pink so anything in that realm would be close enough. I ended up with a shade called Cherry and another simply called Orange and we were in business! This is the perfect fruity and bright pairing to welcome warm weather with. Or, at least dream about because the weather has been crap lousy here. -_-

Once my colors were selected, it was time for my tech to work her magic and you know I hit her with the old “long time no see” considering it had only been four days! Hilarious, I know. 😀 As always, work her magic my nail tech did and, as always, she fixed them up just right. I never really notice any lifting or problem areas until the polish is off, like at this appointment for instance, and my tech repaired any uh-ohs with ease and speed. After two repairs, shaping, filing, and painting I was still in time for my next shift at work. I genuinely have no idea how she does it!

The weather might not be the best but my nails are fresh and gives me a dose of sunshine every time I look at them. I’ll take it until this rain, rain goes away!

New Light Pink & Purple Glitter Nails

New Light Pink & Purple Glitter Nails

Howdy!! I had a delightful break time fill at Elysian Nails this past Tuesday and it was just what the doctor ordered. My nails were insanely grown out and were in desperate need of some TLC! As always, my nail tech worked wonders and they are back to their former glory and, I daresay, better than ever. This appointment also came with a surprise – brand new colors to pick from! Take a look:

Prior to my appointment, I selected my nail polish colors and waited for my tech at her station. As soon as she saw me, she called me over to the other polish options which I don’t entertain. They are usually all gel and dip and I just go for regular old nail polish. I jokingly asked her if this was her trying to convert me to gel polish and we had a right laugh! Rather, she showed me brand new nail polishes and my original choices went straight out the window. I instantly fell in love with the pale pink and purple glitter shades! They look like fairy tale colors and are so delicate and pretty. My only qualm is that the two colors are more similar than I had anticipated from the sample, making it hard to differentiate them. However, I never say no to trying something brand new and they actually remind me of the Disney princess nail polish that my eldest niece adores. I think she is going to go crazy for this combo!

Of course, I couldn’t wait to get my nails right but I also was chomping at the bit to gossip with my tech. I had SO much scoop to tell her since my last appointment and it’s always fun to update each other on our never ending sagas. After spilling all the tea, we go through our monthly recommendations. From books we read to TV shows we’re binging, we cover it all and I love hearing her reviews. We have very different tastes when it comes to our preferred genres and it’s nice to have new options when I’m in the mood to break free from the norm. By the time my appointment was done, my nails were exquisite, the tea runneth over, and I was ready to return to work feeling like a billion bucks.

These new nail polish shades are perfect for spring and for letting your inner fairy princess go wild. Mine is certainly having a partay!

What kind of polish do you get when you get your nails done? What is your favorite acrylic shape? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Valentine’s Day Nails

New Valentine’s Day Nails

Hello! I spent a wonderful morning at Elysian Nails this past Friday getting a brand new full set for Valentine’s Day. I didn’t realize how badly I needed it until my tech was literally popping my acrylics off like it was nothing! With a pretty new OOTD and a night at the theater to celebrate with Johnny, I did something that I normally never do… I actually got holiday appropriate nails. Shocking, I know, but I just couldn’t help myself. There is no better way to complete my V-Day look than with red and pink nails and these might be one of my favorite combinations yet. Check it out:

When I am going to the salon, I usually just let the nail polish wall speak to me and those are the colors I will go with. In this case, I knew I wanted a Valentine’s Day palette and almost immediately was able to select the winners. I started with a gorgeous and bright raspberry red and it was spot on. In fact, my tech said “this is the red people think of when they think of Valentine’s Day” and I couldn’t agree more. I toyed around with a couple different shades of pink and ended up with a seashells in the sunlight hue. When this polish was first being applied, I feared that it was going to be too light. Then, after another coat, I was obsessed. These colors look like candy heart magic and I am SO there for it!

Whenever I get my nails filled, I schedule an appointment during my break at work. While it’s nice, it isn’t exactly conducive to relaxing because I’m just thinking about everything I need to do when I clock back in lol. This time around, I had my full morning blocked off to get a new set and it was great! My tech had ample time to get my nails right, we had plenty of time to chat, and I even had enough time to let my nails dry completely before I drove to work. It was exactly what I needed after a busy week and I am in love with the results – just how it should be for Valentine’s Day nails. ❤

Johnny and I will be celebrating V-Day after the fact and I am mentally willing our date night to get here faster. I have BEEN ready with my outfit and nails!

Did you get your nails done for Valentine’s Day? How often do you get your nails done? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
