Hello everyone! Before we begin this post about some weekend weirdness, I will be placing a trigger warning on it for mental health, being in the ER, and blood. Now, let’s get to it:
It has been a hard past year and change in Lil Red’s world and this past week has been the absolute pits. Like, it was really bad and I was and still am pretty down in the dumps. I had a horribly stressful day last Thursday and spent the following days being super depressed. Friday came and went and Saturday felt like a bit of an upswing because Johnny and I spent the whole day together. We played lots of Diablo IV, ordered Domino’s for dinner, and settled down on the floor with the bunnies to play some Magic The Gathering.
As we schemed for our next turn, nature called and I went to the bathroom. When I sat on the can, I was startled to see that my sleep pants were soaked in blood. This was strange because Aunt Flo wasn’t scheduled to come for another four or so days. I wasn’t experiencing any pain or cramping and while it was weird, Johnny and I decided that we would visit the ER if I was still bleeding on Sunday. I was and it was off to Akron General that morning.
Thankfully, we were able to get right into a room once we arrived at the ER and that would have definitely not been the case if we went on Saturday night. The doctor came in and asked me questions like “Are you pregnant?” HARD NO. “Did you experience any physical trauma?” Nope. “Did something stressful or upsetting happen?” HARD YES. With that information, the doc decided to do blood work and a pelvic exam to see what was up with my down low area.
The pelvic exam was a pain in my pelvis, but we were relieved to hear that nothing was visibly wrong. So, we waited for the test results from the labs and swabs that were taken. As Johnny and I waited with bated breath, there was nothing to do but watch some TV. I selected the Lifetime channel and while Johnny initially grumbled, I am pleased to say that he was riveted by the time the movie ended. Lol, he is such a doll. ❤
Shortly after our Lifetime flick wrapped up, the doctor returned to tell us that my blood work and swabs were normal. She informed us that my hormones got out of whack from the stressful event and it triggered abnormal bleeding. Afterwards, I was able to change and Johnny and I could head home. As we drove back, we made a pit stop at Taco Bell and reminisced on how weird and unfortunate the situation was. My mind was hurting so much that it translated into a bodily reaction. I suppose we could have figured that out without a trip to the ER, but something like that had never happened to me before and it was scary.
I am happy to say that I am feeling better now. Not great, but slightly below average and that’s a big improvement. This is your Lil Red Friendly Reminder to take care of yourselves because, apparently, stress and depression can manifest itself in lots of crazy ways!
Have you ever been to the ER before? What happened? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
In my… 30? 40s??.. I started getting severe full body hives without warning. Many trips to ER till I learned the shots were nothing more than a double-dose of benadryl. I was questioned about stress and insisted I was fine… cause I was. After years of this, I finally got talked into trying xanax. Holy hell… I had NO idea my daily life was so stressful till it was reduced!!
Then there was the acute attack of Diverticulitis, a complete Fup misdiagnosis, multiple days in bed, b
trip to a different ER, and a lonely 4-day stay in the hospital.

Thx. It was actually kinda fun. I had a fantasic & SEXY gay doc. One time I went to him instead of ER. He opened the room door, then slammed it shut (still on other side(, then opened again and said, “I don’t know if I’m gonna give you your shot… your lips look FABULOUS!”
Side note: If you feel like it, please send a mailing address to effini@yahoo.com – I was at an art thing today and bought a card that I thought you’d like. No worries if you don’t wanna.

I can’t imagine how frightening that must have been. I think the ER was the smart choice.
I once went because I sliced my finger on a food processor blade and it looked pretty bad. The doc looked at it and said “I’ll bet there was a lot of blood,” which I took to mean that it wasn’t serious and that I probably could have just put a band-aid on it.

Oh wow, that would be scary! They didn’t think that maybe you started your period early? Our bodies are amazing and weird at the same time. I have been to the ER a few times and each time it was not fun. I went to the ER twice while I was pregnant with my first. Once for a migraine that made my arm and face go numb and I was dehydrated. So scary. The second time was a few months later and a week before I had him and it was for dehydration and kidney stones. The birth of my son was easy compared to the kidney stone experience. I took my daughter to the ER when she was like 2-3 because she fell and I thought she hit her head but she held her breath and passed out. I guess kids can do this and it’s called a breath holding spell. Then most recently, when I was pregnant with my third, I was at the obgyn for a pregnancy appointment and I had some pain but it wasn’t consistent and my urine sample had a lot of blood in it. I almost threw up in the room, my body was going thru it. I was again experiencing kidney stones. My doctor sent me right to the ER. Had to call my manager like heyyyy, I’m not coming back lol. Then about a month later I was back in there for pain again, and thinking it was kidney stones but they checked me out and said there wasn’t anything wrong and to keep pushing fluids. Man, it freaking sucks. I honestly get so anxious about my health, like hypochondriac. I hate it.

It’s a lot to handle for sure and some scary times. I think I had some PTSD which led to my anxiety of my health. With my third pregnancy I told them how did I get one, I learned my lesson and I’ve been hydrated and peeing every 10 minutes.. and the tech said, sometimes you can’t control it in pregnancy and it just happens 😭 like wtf…
