Winky Lux Holographic Highlighter Swatch In Charm

Winky Lux Holographic Highlighter Swatch In Charm

Hi! Today, we are going to chit chat about a gorgeous highlighter given to me by my sister from the brand Winky Lux. I reckon that Kristen got this itty bitty beauty from her Ipsy subscription and I am obsessed. I have wanted a holographic highlighter for forever, but never felt like buying one so I am SO looking forward to trying out this shade in Charm! Check it out:

charm1charm2charm3charm4charm5

It took me a while to get hip to highlighters and I’ve started to enjoy using them only within the past year. My whole reason being was because I would see different MOTD pics with highlighters that look like they slapped the model’s faces with glitter and I was like “why would anyone want that” lol. So, needless to say, I definitely prefer a more subtle look when it comes to the color of the highlighter that I’m using.

I like that this Winky Lux shade in Charm has the faintest hint of the holographic shimmer but it’s not enough to take away from the rest of your MOTD or make you look too costume-y. I love the blend of violet and pink shimmer and it will add a perfect pop against my pale skin. I also adore the cute as a button packaging – it reminds me of Polly Pocket inspired makeup, and it doesn’t get much better than that!

How do you feel about the highlighter trend? What is your favorite shade of highlighter? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Swatch In Checkmate

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Swatch In Checkmate

Howdy! Having a sister is awesome. You get a built in BFF, a wing girl at family get togethers, and someone to always receive hand me downs from. My sister, Kristen, for example, passes down all of her unwanted makeup to me. Like I said, having a sister is awesome. On Christmas, Kristen bestowed a big bag full of makeup that she was no longer using onto me and, now that we’re done swatching the Emerald Obsessions palette, we can go through this goodie bag together to see what is a hit or miss. Today, we will be talking about Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lipstick in Checkmate. Check it out:

jeffree4jeffree3jeffreejeffree1

Let me start off by saying, I love me some Jeffree Star. I used to bump his MySpace music in my teen years and enjoyed watching his transformation from scene kid super star into a makeup icon. And, this product had a lot of things that I liked about it. But, if you read my blog, then I feel like all of you should already know what I’m going to say about the color… IT’S TOO ORANGE FOR MEEEEE! There is nothing that I love better than a good red lip, but when there’s even the slightest hint of orange to the pigment, it ends up looking so clown-like against my hair and I just can’t deal.

But, this is not to say that it’s a bad lippie, it just doesn’t work for me. The product applied really smoothly and it was so smudge proof that I had to take a washcloth of micellar water and use some serious elbow grease to get it off. So, if you’re looking for a lip product that you don’t have to worry about budging all over, I would definitely recommend it!

And, finally, I love the packaging. It’s simple but still has this cool rocker edge to it and I would feel mighty cute having it sticking out of my front pocket. I also feel as though one tube of the lipstick will last you for a good long while, because there was a lot of product in it – and you guys all know that getting a lot of bang for your buck is a must for me.

I’m happy that I got to take a closer look at Jeffree Star’s lippie line, because I have been curious about it. And, in a different shade, I would probably be all about it. So, that might be a nice treat yoself purchase in the future!

What do you think about Jeffree Star’s makeup line? Who is your favorite celebrity makeup guru? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In Mint Green Matte

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In Mint Green Matte

Hello everyone and welcome to the last swatch from the Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions palette. This swatching journey has proven to be less than satisfactory and the ending hue is going to be an anticlimactic finish, because it kind of sucks. We are looking at a mint green matte shade today and it is a color that I don’t think would look good on anyone. You can check it out in the middle of the top row:

huda1

Now, for a closer look:

mintmint1mint2

^^^ The first heart is the eyeshadow wet and the second one is when it’s dry.

This shade looks not so much like an eyeshadow as it does a color correcting cure when you have any redness on your skin. The green looks bruised and sickly and I feel like it would wash out literally any skin tone that it’s worn on. Out of all of the swatches that we have done, this color is probably the most disappointing, because I feel like it is completely unwearable. The space used for this eyeshadow could have been used for another color but, I probably wouldn’t end up liking that one, either! SMH.

All in all, I would award the Emerald Obsessions palette by Huda Beauty with a three out of ten. It was a great idea and I initially loved this palette. But, upon further inspection, the quality of the eyeshadow proved to be not the best and the colors were either unusable or looked totally different on than what they did in the packaging. #notimpressed

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In Chocolate Matte

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In Chocolate Matte

Hello everyone and welcome to the second to last swatch from the Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions palette. This swatching experience has proven to be kind of disappointing as far as my ratio to colors I like and don’t like are, but it has been an informative experience all the same. I discovered a few new colors as well as ones that absolutely wouldn’t work for me and a brand that I don’t think I will bother with in the future – all of which saves me time and money, so that’s always nice! Check out the chocolate matte shade that we are swatching today in the bottom left corner:

And, now, for a closer look:

^^^ The first heart is the eyeshadow wet and the second is when it’s dry.

Once again, I am not head over heels for this matte, slightly lighter than milk chocolate shade. Maybe because it’s not rich enough for my liking or because it looks dull as dishwater, this eyeshadow is another miss in my book. The only time I can see myself using this color is if I am trying to achieve a brown smokey eye MOTD but, even then, I prefer for my eyeshadows to have a little extra something something to it and this one is definitely lacking in that department. -____-

After seeing almost all of the eyeshadows swatched from this palette would you buy it? Why or why not? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In Matte Emerald

Hello everyone! We have officially finished taking a closer look at all of the glitter shades from the Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions palette and now we are onto the matte colors. Today, we are going to look at the emerald matte hue, which you can see on the middle right:

Check out the swatches:

^^^ The first heart is the eyeshadow wet and the second one is when it’s dry.

Although this emerald matte shade is pretty, it’s not my favorite one that the palette offers. I have never been too keen on matte eyeshadows, especially since I am a matte lipstick girl and I don’t want matte overload happening on my MOTD. This is actually the first matte shade I’ve ever owned and, I can see why I’ve never bought it before, because it does like kind of dull. I like my eyeshadows to have that little extra something going on with it, like a metallic shine or glitter but I don’t want it looking too glitzy. The matte hue is nice, but there’s not enough going on with it that would make me feel so inclined to wear it.

I might experiment with this color as an eyeliner, but I already have a metallic emerald liner that I like a lot so we’ll see what happens. First impressions, though? I don’t think that I would wear this one. #whompwhomp

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In Glitter Fern Green

Standard
Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In Glitter Fern Green

Hi everyone! Today, we are going to discuss the last glitter shade in the Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions palette. It is a fern green shade and it’s pretty-ish, but just not the right color for me. You can see the eyeshadow in the top right hand corner of the palette along with the rest of the colors below:

huda1

Now, let’s take a closer look:

fernfern1fern2

^^^ The first heart is the eyeshadow wet and the second one is when it’s dry.

Sadly, this color is another one that I don’t think I can see myself wearing. Although it’s a nice eyeshadow, the hue is just too light for my liking. And it looks rather dull, despite the twinkling glitter. With really pale skin and a preference towards dark clothing, my makeup always has to be more saturated, because anything less just makes me look sickly.

I’m a bit disappointed with this palette. I feel like it was a good idea, but the colors weren’t executed well as far as color quality goes. And, the literal quality of the eyeshadow isn’t the best to me, either. It’s really dusty and you need a lot of the product to get complete coverage. There are certain shades that I do plan on using, but I can easily say that the eyeshadows that I’ve used from drugstore brands have provided a more satisfying experience than this high end one.

What is your favorite drugstore brand when it comes to makeup? What about your favorite high end brand? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In A Questionable Shade

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Swatch In A Questionable Shade

Hiii everyone! We are still not done swatching from the Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions palette, so we are getting right back to it with a color that I am just not sure of. This shade was very much a case of it looking like one color in the package and applying as something totally different. Today, we will be talking about the eyeshadow on the middle left:

huda1

At first glance, I thought that this color was going to be a deep, forest green and I was pretty excited for it. But, unfortunately, it swatched as a shade of brown with some green undertones to it. Take a closer look and you’ll see what I mean:

greenngreenn1greenn2

^^^ The first heart is the eyeshadow wet and the second one is when it’s dry.

As pretty as this palette is, the colors are definitely worth taking a better look into before you buy it, because you might be left feeling a bit disappointed. Almost every shade that I’ve swatched seems to stray from the color that you’re initially seeing and that’s certainly off putting if you’re spending money and expecting something completely different.

I had high hopes for this color originally, because I love shades of green. But, I also do like brown eyeshadow, too. Not this shade, though. I like strictly brown hues when it comes to eye makeup, because brown with green undertones just makes for a swampy color and it is so unappealing to me. In the words of the title of this post, this shade is questionable at best and I don’t plan on using it.

What is your favorite shade of eyeshadow to wear? What is a color that you avoid when it comes to makeup? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath Bomb Blitz: Lush’s World’s Smallest Disco Edition

Bath Bomb Blitz: Lush’s World’s Smallest Disco Edition

Hi! This past weekend, I enjoyed a nice, relaxing soak with the World’s Smallest Disco bath bomb from Lush. This was a treat from my sister’s Christmas gifts to me, and, despite a difficult clean up, this bath bomb was a lot of fun. With a name like World’s Smallest Disco, how could it be anything but a total blast?! Check out some pics and let’s discuss:

discodisco1disco2disco3disco4disco5disco6

It should come as no surprise that I love bath bombs that turn the water either black or really dark blue, so World’s Smallest Disco was the tops for that matter. It transformed the water into a gorgeous, inky blue with tiny galaxies of glitter floating throughout the water. So. Pretty!

So pretty, in fact, that I talked about that first instead of the neon pink, yellow, green, orange, and blue polka dots that erupted from the bath bomb, fizzing out like shooting stars. They also took longer to dissolve than the grey portion of the bath bomb, so the little disco lights stayed in the tub with you until they went away themselves. This product had great movement and it moved itself from one end of the bath tub to the other, leaving bright streams of color throughout the water. It was a spectacular light show and definitely felt like a dance party happening before my eyes.

World’s Smallest Disco also smelled really good, too. Nice and citrusy. It left my skin feeling soft and hydrated after shaving and I loved soaking in the midnight sky bath water. But, this bath bomb was a pain in the ass to clean up. Obviously, the darker colored bath bombs stain the tub in a much more noticeable way than a lighter hue and stain my bath tub, it did. So much so, that the Turtle jelly bomb that I just used was infinitely easier to clean than World’s Smallest Disco. Annoying, yes. But, I still would use this bath bomb again and give it a seven out of ten.

What is your favorite bath product to use? Which store offers the best bath time goodies? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath Bomb Blitz: Lush Jelly Bomb In Turtle Edition

Bath Bomb Blitz: Lush Jelly Bomb In Turtle Edition

Howdy! Today, instead of talking more about the Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions palette, we are going to review the Turtle Jelly Bomb from Lush that I received for Christmas. I finally felt up to taking a bath a few days ago and taking care of the Woolly Mammoth that I had become, and a bath bomb was an absolute must for the occasion. Take a look at some pics and let’s discuss:

turtleturtle1turtle2turtle3turtle4

The reviews that I read on the Lush website for the Turtle Bomb were mixed, because the jelly bombs can be difficult to clean up. However, I love the jelly bombs, because they are ultra hydrating and they are super fun to use. The thick, nourishing jelly that comes from the bath bomb feels like liquid body butter and it is perfect to rub into your skin before you shave to prevent any dryness. So, after an almost month of not shaving during my surgery recovery, the jelly bomb was just what I needed to take care of business. The Turtle Bomb helped give me a smooth shave and it was so moisturizing that I didn’t even need to put on lotion afterwards.

Upon placing the bomb in the tub, it immediately started to fizz and change the bath water to a lovely forest green. It smelled awesome, too. So fresh and outdoorsy – kind of like Irish Springs. I enjoyed using this jelly bomb way more than I anticipated judging by the wishy washy reviews. But, I will agree with the people that said the jelly looked like pond scum because they are definitely right, as you can tell from the up close pictures.

My only other complaint with the Turtle Bomb is that there wasn’t as much jelly in it as I recall other bombs having, so that was kind of disappointing because there wasn’t enough for a full body application. Other than those minor issues, I liked what this jelly bomb did to the water, it smelled great, and it was easy to clean up so I would use it again, for sure! I give it a six and a half out of ten.

What is your favorite product from Lush? What are your thoughts on the Turtle Bomb? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Bath Bomb Blitz: 5 Below Edition

Bath Bomb Blitz: 5 Below Edition

Howdy! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! Today, we are going to discuss one of the prezzies I got from my BFF in this new edition of Bath Bomb Blitz. Although it was a super thoughtful gift and I love Lea more than life itself, this bath bomb from 5 Below was the worrrrrst. Take a look at some pics and let’s discuss:

5b15b25b3

When I think of bath bombs, I think of wonderful little delights that smell awesome and make a show of the bath water before taking a relaxing soak. And, unfortunately, this bomb from 5 Below had none of the above criteria going for it. It smelled like nothing, even though the scent was cotton candy. And, it did nothing to change my bath water other than fizz out. However, I will grant that it did take at least three minutes to dissolve completely, which is pretty good!

I love bargain stores more than the next but, when it comes to bath bombs, I’ll definitely be leaving it to the experts at Lush for the full experience. I am glad to know that the 5 Below bath bombs are not the best, though, so that I know not to gift them for people or give them a try myself! A blessing in disguise! 😀

Which brand makes the best bath bombs? What is your favorite bath bomb from Lush? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
