Hello everyone and welcome to the Blooper Reel from my Navy, Baby OOTD! I am dead tired as I type this and am fantasizing about a crispy Diet Coke from McDonald’s. However, the blog must go on and I am nothing if not dedicated. Hello, six and a half year blogging streak! Perhaps I need a laugh to perk me up and maybe all of you do too. So, let’s take a look at these yikes shots and discuss why this chronically sleepy gal is extra sleepy today!

Has Daylight Savings time thrown you for a loop? It most certainly has for me and your girl is dying! Johnny and I have a pretty unique schedule. We are both up for work around three AM and go to bed at six thirty or so. In normal circumstances, this is a-okay. In Daylight Savings time world, however, it is a massive problem. I am one of those people who simply cannot fall asleep unless it’s dark out and it throws a wrench in the plan when it is still light until eight PM. Eventually my body adjusts to this new rhythm but it is hellacious until it does.

When my alarm clock went off this morning, all I wanted to do was hit the snooze and keep snoozing until I got back to baseline. What motivated me to get up? The bunnies, of course! I know I would hate if I was hungry and my breakfast was late and, although my schedule has been unwillingly adjusted, there’s doesn’t deserve to be. While my mind screamed more sleep, my heart screamed “but the bunnies” louder and so here I am… Typing this post while half asleep! Zzzzzzzzzz

Can we all just make a pact to do away with Daylight Savings time because WOOF. Mama needs her beauty sleep!!

Has Daylight Savings time effected you? When do you normally go to bed? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! I don’t want to jinx it, but I feel like spring is officially here and it has been glorious! Frigid days and snow turned into balmy rainy days and I have been loving it. It is just SO nice to leave the house without it hurting my face and, although I enjoy dressing for winter, I was definitely over bundling up! This past weekend had sixty degree temps and I couldn’t wait to shoot some outfits without having to tap out from the cold. I knew exactly what I wanted to wear thanks to my last TJMaxx trip with my mom! Check it out:

Collared Top: Truth By Republic, TJMaxx

Skater Skirt: This was a hand me down but it’s from Rue 21

Snakeskin Pattern Boots: Vince Camuto, TJMaxx

The turquoise cross earrings were a gift from my mom and are Lucky Brand!

I tried on several different blouses at TJMaxx that were gorgeous for spring. However, none of them spoke to me as pretty as they were. What screamed at me was the fabulous collared top by Truth By Republic. I just think it is the coolest and is the epitome of a basic staple with a twist. The denim detailing is incredibly stiff and it’s such an interesting juxtaposition to the soft as can be remainder of the top. I love the colorblocked blue and this top is a perfect example of unique and simple details that go a long way.

Oftentimes when I am trying clothes on at TJs, visions of OOTDs come swirling into my head that feature the pieces that are coming home with me. That was very much the case for this top and my outfit turned out exactly how I imagined it. I love it when that happens! In the fitting room, I pieced together the top with my navy skater skirt to turn it into a pseudo dress. The colors in the skirt and top might not have been an exact match but it was close enough and that’s good enough for me. This skirt provided some flouncy movement as the top was quite form fitting and helped to create a sweet for spring silhouette.

Finally, it was onto shoes and accessories. As navy is a neutral, I could have fun with my shoe choice and went for a pair of snakeskin patterned heeled boots by Vince Camuto. I am very partial to a grayscale snakeskin print but those rich brown tones were too good to pass up and looked great against the navy base. For accessories, I simply popped on a pair of dangly turquoise crosses as there wasn’t much open real estate for necklaces or bracelets. That was no matter, though, because I wanted to let that crisp denim detailing do all of the talking!

This Navy, Baby OOTD can easily be replicated and is so fab for a spring day. Stay tuned for the Blooper Reel tomorrow!

What is your favorite season to dress for? Are you updating your wardrobe for spring? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello everyone and welcome to the blooper reel from my Navy, Baby OOTD! Creating outfit posts on lifewithlilred is one of my most favorite things and it turns next level after I get my hair done. After I leave the salon, OOTD ideas swarm at a rapid pace and I want to shoot all of the content while my hair still looks fresh and new. I wanted to style a timeless outfit for my Navy, Baby OOTD and I love what I achieved. The pictures you are about to see, however, are very low on my list of accomplishments lol. Check it out:

When I style OOTDs, I love everything about the process. It feels exciting to me to go through my wardrobe and shop as if I have never seen my clothing/shoes/accessory collection before. While it’s always fun to style looks with brand new clothes, it adds more of a challenge to turn old pieces in my wardrobe into something that feels new again. That was definitely the case with my Navy, Baby OOTD and it was so neat to breathe new life into these older pieces (The peacoat is over a decade old!). This type of styling really requires you to think about your clothes differently than you have before and I am so pleased with what I came up with.

The OOTD fun isn’t done when my look is styled and what comes after is my absolute favorite part: Taking pictures with Johnny! He is the most wonderful blog husband and no matter how much he playfully drags his feet, he is always up to the challenge of making me look good lol. Shooting this outfit was a bit of a chore because the lighting sucked. We tried so many different locations before settling on one and he was patient and most helpful in my endeavors. It forever warms my heart when he suggests a spot that he thinks might work! Johnny is nothing short of elated once I am satisfied with the pictures we took, but knowing I have an in house photographer whenever I need is something I am so thankful for. He is the absolute best!

My Navy, Baby OOTD was a fun experience from start to finish. I had a blast shopping in my closet and an even better time hanging around MUD CREEK with Johnny to shoot both winners and total losers of pictures! ❤

What is the oldest piece of clothing you own? Do you prefer taking pictures or being in them? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! It is always so much fun to style a new look after getting my hair done and it was a weekend full of changes, indeed. New hair, new piercing, and a new style because the look you are about to see is quite different from previous OOTD posts. Of course, I wanted to celebrate the navy in my hair that I am obsessed with, but I also wanted to create something chic and sophisticated because that’s how my new do makes me feel. My Navy, Baby OOTD was a step outside of my comfort zone and I am loving how it turned out:

Who? What? Wear?

Peacoat: Rock Steady, ModCloth

Striped Sweater: Cynthia Rowley, TJMaxx

Slacks: Sincerely Jules, TJMaxx

Snakeskin Pattern Boots: Vince Camuto, TJMaxx

The turquoise cross earrings are Lucky Brand!

I love all of the amazing shades of Pulp Riot hair dye, but there is something about the navy hue called Nightfall that just hits different. It compliments the red beautifully and the darker color against my complexion is probably the most true to my original medium to dark brown hair. It is such a shocking contrast and my new look is one of my most favorite things that I have ever done to my hair. Rather than let the navy hair do all of the talking in this OOTD, I decided to pile it on in my clothing as well.

To style this look, I began from the top down with my Cynthia Rowley striped sweater. It fits like a glove and how cute is that red heart accent?! The crisp stripes of navy and stark white feel so classic and it really is a timeless piece. When I think about sophistication, “timeless” is one of the words that I always associate it with. To continue with that, I chose my Sincerely Jules slacks for the pants portion. They are such a wonderful staple piece and can be worn dressed up or down with ease. I like that the straight leg fit offers some motion without being loose and it created such a cool but effortless silhouette.

Next on the agenda was shoes and accessories and I selected a gorgeous pair of snakeskin pattern heeled boots by Vince Camuto. I am very partial to a grey snakeskin pattern, but the rich brown palette of these boots is just what I needed. Although these boots are patterned, I would still consider them to be a neutral and they offered a unique pop of color against the neutral palette that I had already established. Remember, navy is most definitely a neutral too! Because the pattern of the sweater was so bold, I chose to keep accessories minimal with a pair of dangly turquoise cross earrings. These were a gift from my mom and one of my favorite pairs!

With that, the base of my outfit was settled but it still didn’t feel complete. To tie things together, I knew I needed a great jacket and I found that with my peacoat from ModCloth by Rock Steady. This peacoat is as old as dirt, but it is so beloved by me. It was one of my first purchases from ModCloth and I still get the warm fuzzies when I put it on. The navy peacoat turned the base I was working with into a true OOTD and it made me feel like I accomplished my mission of a timeless outfit. And, once again, how cute are those heart patches on the elbow?!

My Navy, Baby OOTD highlighted my new hair perfectly and I felt like a star in this look. This outfit combined classic pieces and turned it into something fresh and new, which is exactly what I set out to do!

What is a piece of clothing you consider to be timeless? What era of fashion is your favorite? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
