Woman Crush Wednesday: Anne Hathaway Edition

Hellooooo everyone and welcome to this week’s edition of Woman Crush Wednesday – Anne Hathaway style! The lovely Miss Hathaway has been one of my all time favorite actresses since her Princess Diaries days, so let’s discuss my woman crush:

Dear Anne Hathaway:

Oh Anne…sweet, sweet Anne, I just adore you. I vividly remember the Princess Diaries being one of the first movies that I saw in theaters when I was just a wee Lil Red. As I sat through the movie all I could think about was how I wanted to be just like you – and guess what? I STILL DO! One of my fondest memories was going to see The Devil Wears Prada in theaters with my mom, grandma, and sister. We had such a beautiful afternoon together and when I think of my beloved late grandma, I often think of that day. The video that I picked to honor you is one of my favorite scenes in the movie, when Andy gets her makeover. I loved watching your character transform into a poised and perfect fashionista. My young self also loved the royal transformation that you received in the Princess Diaries. Your entire career has been a metamorphosis of a young adult star to an iconic woman, that feels fresh out of one of your films. It has been nothing short of a joy to watch you breeze your way through Hollywood with such grace and charm, which is a rarity in the celebrity scene these days. You have had so many amazing style moments as well, my favorite being when you debuted your pixie haircut! SO cute! You are so gorgeous and I admire you so much. I LOVE YOU!!!!

Monday Update: Follow Up Edition

Helloooo everyone and welcome to the newest Monday Update: Follow Up Edition. I’m writing this update to bring you all of the news on events that I’ve mentioned in previous posts, so let’s get to it so I can keep all of you lovelies up to date on the life of Lil Red!

In last week’s Monday Update, I mentioned that I had an audition for a play called The Boys Next Door, and unfortunately I did not get a part – but I knew I wasn’t going to. Allow me to explain. The play features only one female character so the competition was going to be stiff to begin with, but frankly, I wasn’t even considered competition. I rolled into the audition only to be surrounded by men aged forty-five and up who were trying out for the show. With most of these guys doubling my age, it’s obvious why I didn’t get a part, especially when the female character is a love interest. I’m all for an odd couple, but a pairing of a twenty-something along with someone pushing fifty just wouldn’t look right.

Despite the realization that I wasn’t going to get the part as soon as I walked into the theater, I still gave it my best shot and did very well. I made the director and the auditioners laugh and I really do think that I made a lasting impression. I’m glad that I’ve never been one to throw in the towel during situations like that because my audition was very strong, so maybe I’ll come to the director’s mind when he’s working on a show with a more suitable character for me. If a staggering age gap was not an evident issue, I think I would have been a little disappointed over not getting the part. Lucky for me, I had nothing to be sad about because I knew from the get go that being cast for the show was impossible. Regardless, it was a great experience and an awesome little audition to get me back into the spirit of entering back into the theater circuit!

If you’re familiar with my site, then you’ll know that it was my best friend, Lea’s, birthday this past week! My darling girl turned the big 2-1, so we went barhopping in Kent, Ohio to celebrate. We had the best time doing shots and throwing back fruity drinks to our hearts content. Lea had a great twenty-first birthday outing, therefore, I had a great time too. All I wanted was for her twenty-first birthday celebration to be better than mine and we definitely exceeded that goal! Take a look at how cute we are:

In other news, I have a really special post in the archives that will be published hopefully within the week featuring a ukulele strumming duo, Recipe of Life. The sweet girls of ROL, Shelby and Ariel, are a force to be reckoned with straight out of Stow, Ohio and I can’t wait for you guys to hear them! Their music is the epitome of beachy fun, so make sure you keep your eyes and ears pealed for it!

Annnnnd to conclude this Monday Update filled with exciting follow ups, I can tell you that things with my boyfriend, Kyle, are just dandy! 🙂

^^^ This basically sums up how I’m feeling, minus the cocaine. 😉

So there you have it, this week’s Monday Update: Follow Up Edition! How was everyone’s weekend? What are you most looking forward to this week? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Woman Crush Wednesday: Helena Bonham Carter Edition

Helloooo everyone and happy Hump Day! Welcome to a new edition of Woman Crush Wednesday – Helena Bonham Carter style! I am such a big fan of the stunning Miss Helena…and so is my dad, for that matter – but that’s neither here nor there. ANYWAYS, enjoy this video of one of my favorite Sweeney Todd songs starring our lovely vixen herself and then let’s discuss:

Dear Helena Bonham Carter,

Ohhhhh sweet sweet Helena, I just adore you. You truly are such a phenomenal actress and it is such a joy to watch you light up the big screen. No matter what your role is, you always seem to steal the show. What I find so inspiring about you is that you never shy away from the weird and macabre but you embrace it with so much gusto that it makes “normal” people look like the weird ones. You’re an oddball, and I mean that in the most loving way possible. All of your cute little quirks are so endearing though because they are so relateable to so many people, myself included. You are unique and proud and it makes me want to scream Sweeney Todd lyrics at the top of my lungs from my bedroom window. Not only are you insanely talented and an amazing role model, but can we please talk about your staggering good looks? Hubba hubba, woman. Your off screen looks are killer and no matter what you look like in movies I always find myself weirdly attracted to you. Btw, I’m sorry to hear about your break up with your long time love, Tim Burton, but on the bright side – that means that you and I can get married! Hurray! I LOVE YOU!!!!

Monday Update: Exciting Occurrences Edition

Helloooo everyone and happy Monday!! So a lot of really cool stuff has been happening these past few days and will be coming up in the near future, so I want to share all of it with you in this Monday Update: Exciting Occurrences Edition! Grab a cup of coffee, kick your feet up, and enjoy an early morning post by yours truly:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7-MvHCGLOE

Exciting Occurrence #1) School starts today!! This semester at Tri-C, I’ll be taking Ethics, French, Comparative World Religions, and History of Civilization. I took French in high school and I was very good at it, however, because I had no one to speak it with, I lost a lot of my skills. I’m really looking forward to relearning everything that I lost as well as all of the new subtleties and nuances my class will teach me. As many of you might remember, I’m an Athiest – so why am I taking Comparative World Religions? Because it sounds interesting, sue me for it! Just because I’m a nonbeliever doesn’t mean that I’m not fascinated by the ways other people worship, so I think that this course will be a lot of fun. Similar to my religions class, I think that Ethics and History of Civilization will be a great learning experience as well. I’ve always loved history and I’m excited to explore the worlds of philosophical thinking even further with Ethics! I think that this fall semester is going to be my best one yet and I can’t wait to see what Tri-C has in store for me!

Exciting Occurrence #2) I have an audition for a play called The Boys Next Door tonight! After performing in the film, Beat The Heat, the acting bug bit me hard and now all I want to do is get back into theatre again. I browsed through the internet looking into possible auditions and unfortunately I was too late for almost all of them. BUT, I found the audition for the play that I’ll be trying out for tonight right in the nick of time, so I can’t wait to give it a shot. The audition is a cold reading, which is great, because getting into a character quickly is a major strength of mine. I also prepared an oldie but goodie monologue of mine as well, just in case! The play sounds very intriguing, as it focuses on mental health issues – which is right up my alley! There is only one female role available, so I’m really hoping that I have what this company is looking for! The only problem is, is that the theater that the play will be held at is quite far away from me, but if I get the part the drives will be totally worth it! Wish a bitch luck!

Exciting Occurrence #3) Similarly to the last Exciting Occurrence, I also have another theatre related update! I got word of a one act play festival happening this fall that is looking for original pieces to stage. Lucky for me, I wrote a play in high school, so now I have to go through and pick out two or three short scenes from the play that I think are the best and find a way to piece them together so that they fall in the ten minute range. Dwindling down the play to something so small is going to be a challenge but I definitely plan on giving it a try!

Exciting Occurrence #4) I have a boyfriend!! HURRAY! 🙂

Monday Update: Beat The Heat Edition

Monday Update: Beat The Heat Edition

Heyy everyone and happy Monday! So last Thursday a very exciting occurrence happened that I can’t wait to share with you guys! The night prior around nine o’clock, I got a Facebook message from an old theatre friend, Zach, who desperately needed a girl to fill in for someone who dropped out of a film he was shooting the following day. I hadn’t heard from this kid in years and I was pretty curious about what he was shooting, so I told him to give me a call. We chatted on the phone for a few minutes about his production called Beat The Heat and after our talk, I was sold. The next day, I showed up at his place for some filming fun with a bunch of very cool new friends. Let’s discuss!

Beat The Heat is a fairly simple plot which revolves around a group of party-goers who are in for an unpleasant surprise when they wake up. According to the morning news, a tiger escaped from the zoo and everyone is recommended to stay inside until the tiger is captured. This is all fine and dandy until everyone realizes that the air conditioning is broken. With the house getting gradually hotter throughout the day tensions rise, relationships are formed, and pancakes are shared. The cast of characters includes:

  • Tucker: The douchebag
  • Stacie: The slutty nerd (my character)
  • Nick: A guy who knows nothing about fixing the air conditioning
  • Glen: Canadian
  • And much more!!

Everyone in the cast was so insanely fun to work with and a lot of the scenes included improv so it was very easy to work off of one another. Because all of us clicked so well, rash and ultimately hilarious decisions were made on things that should be included in the film – like the most ridiculous psuedo-sex scene between Stacie and Tucker. Now rest assured, if this scene were being done for the purpose of passion and lust, I would have never agreed to it. BUT, both Zach and I agreed that a silly sex scene is exactly what the movie needs to spice things up a little bit! Honestly, I’m so glad that I did it because it’s going to be so insanely funny and it was actually pretty liberating!

As soon as the film is done being edited, the final cut will be released in December and best believe it will be posted on here! So if you want to see my clothes removed with the snap of a finger, a Canadian melt into a puddle, and the worst tiger sound effects ever – make sure you keep it posted on http://www.lifewithlilred.com for more on Beat The Heat!

I’m not gonna lie, I was initially going to say no to participating in Beat The Heat. I prefer stage acting to film acting any day and I’ve been on a hiatus from acting for over a year. Needless to say, I was very worried about delivering a stellar performance. Thankfully, the acting bug came back to me as easily as riding a bike and it felt so damn good to be doing a physical manifestation of my creativity. I’m so grateful that my friend, Zach, thought of me to fill in on set because I haven’t been this excited about a project in years and I can’t wait to see the finished result!!

So there you have it, this weeks Monday Update: Beat The Heat Edition! I hope all of you are having a fabulous day so far! What was everyone up to this weekend? Anything fun? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
