Wedding Dress Delight OOTD

Wedding Dress Delight OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! Two weekends ago, I attended an adorable Disney Princess Party with my sister and darling nieces. Princess costumes for the little ones were encouraged and I figured that offer would extend to adults too lol. As the most extra auntie on the planet, I decided to get my princess on by rocking my wedding dress to the party. I was definitely the only big person that dressed up, but that’s okay because it made the experience even more fun! Val AKA Elsa and her “death princess” TT (as Johnny described me) looked like royalty during our grand entrance and I know we’ll both look back on it fondly for years to come. ❤ Check it out:

^^^ And, yes, I am SO aware that all of these poses are exactly the same lol. My sister took these pics after the party and the girls were cold so I just had to do what works for maximum success!

Who? What? Wear?

Vertebrae Heels: Show Story

Pearl Headband: Francesca’s

Flower earrings that aren’t seen in the pictures are from Francesca’s too.

My wedding dress is one of my most favorite things that I own. It was bought for a song online, tailored to perfection, and was everything I hoped for on my wedding day. I always pictured myself in a black wedding dress and it was like this one was made for me. After Johnny and I tied the knot, I felt sad that I would probably never have an occasion to wear my dream dress again. That’s why I jumped at the opportunity to wear it to the Princess Party. I felt like a princess IRL when I got married and I couldn’t think of anything better to wear to a royal celebration.

For heels, I kept with the theme of my wedding and wore the same shoes for the partay. The high low dress screams for a killer pair of pumps and the Show Story pair are, surprisingly, the only ones I own. Even if I had different heels to select from, I still would have chose my wedding heels anyways. The “low” portion of my dress runs dangerously low to the ground and I needed all of the length that I could get to keep it from dragging. Huge shout out to the tailor for my dress because she was able to create a bustle with the super lengthy train!

There wasn’t much to do for the base of this look so it was onto accessories next. I desperately wanted a tiara, but don’t own one and all of my nieces’ toy tiaras are broke lol. So, I improvised and used my pearl headband from Francesca’s. I LOVED how the white pearls created contrast with my hair and the dress and it felt like a grown up take on a plastic tiara. Then, I put on a pair of dangly iridescent flower earrings and was ready to be the belle of the ball. I know I werked it, but Val stole the show in her Elsa costume! 🙂

I am beyond thrilled that I got to break out my wedding dress one time for the one more time. My girls and I had the best afternoon at the Princess Party and it is something that I will always cherish!

What is something that makes you feel like royalty? Have you ever worn something from your wedding again? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

A Night At The Theater Pt. 5 OOTD

A Night At The Theater Pt. 5 OOTD

Hello!! My sister, Kristen, and I saw Beetlejuice at Playhouse Square this past Saturday and you know your girl had to show out for it! Unfortunately, there are not too many pictures from this look because this was Kristen’s first go at taking OOTD shots and she did alright for a first timer haha it’s just me being picky. 🙂 For this outfit, I wanted to create a modern night on the town look inspired by Beetlejuice’s iconic black and white striped duds. I think I succeeded:

Who? What? Wear?

For the very first time in my life, I was happy that Johnny didn’t attend an event with me because I could borrow his black and white striped skinny jeans! And, let me just say, it is so great to have a husband whose clothes I can wear. 😀 I absolutely needed Johnny’s emo kid essential from Hot Topic for my Beetlejuice 2.0 look and I am thrilled with what I came up with. In fact, when I returned home from the theater, our friend who was over called me “Bougiejuice” and it was exactly what I was going for. ❤

Since the pants for this OOTD were already set in stone, all I had to do was build the remainder of the outfit and it was actually really easy. A few days before the show, I spent some time before bed piecing together my look and I knew that I wanted to incorporate a blazer and faux fur. To keep things simple beneath the blazer, I wore my tie back Japna top. The silky material added some texture and, although you can’t see it well, it has a snakeskin pattern which felt perfect to wear when attending a horror/comedy show.

For the blazer, I went with my Goodwill’s best that costed me four dollars and is from Express. Yes, I have worn this on a recent OOTD but all of my other black blazers are somewhat faded and that wouldn’t do! I love the inky black color of this blazer and it is just what I needed for my retelling of Beetlejuice’s suit. It made me feel chic as opposed to being in a costume and it was the cherry on top when I added the green faux fur collar. The collar tipped the cap to Beetlejuice’s green mop and it made the look go from standard to special instantly.

Once the base of my outfit was settled, it was time to accessorize. I wore my dangle dagger earrings to give some length back to my neck since it was mostly covered. I also chose one of my favorite rosary necklaces that was a gift from my mom to fill in the blank space of the blazer’s V-neck. The delicate chain and small beads were dainty enough to enhance rather than take away from the rest of the look and it was an ideal add-on.

Finally, it was time for heels and I knew exactly what I wanted to wear – the pumps from my wedding! These heels were a pain in the ass to acquire but they are the coolest. The vertebrae backing on the heel brought a touch of the macabre to the OOTD, which was a must for seeing Beetlejuice in. Trust and believe that I wore my slippers while driving, though, which was a genius move on my part. 😀

I felt like a celebrity in my Night At The Theater OOTD and it made me proud to receive so many compliments on it. It always feels good when an outfit comes together as planned and I think I gave Beetlejuice a run for his money!

Do you have a celebrity style icon? Do you plan outfits in advance or make them up on the fly? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

If The Shoe Fits: Show Story Edition

If The Shoe Fits: Show Story Edition

Hello! For the most part, shopping for my wedding dress and accessories was very enjoyable and I am simply thrilled with the end result:

My only complaint? I fell victim to what I felt to be a super scammy website for my heels. This is a Lil Red first because I don’t think I have ever complained during an issue of If The Shoe Fits before!! Lol, take a look at some pics of my heels by Show Story and let’s discuss:

^^^ Can everyone please do me a solid and pretend that they don’t see dirt from my backyard wedding caked on the heel? Haha, I was SO tired when I took these pics and I seriously didn’t even notice it until now… Smh!!!! Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming:

I ordered these heels off of Wildly Untamed Boutique in a wine red originally and, unfortunately, they were way too big. The size I needed in red was, sadly, sold out so I went for a black pair instead and asked the page’s customer service if this could be processed as an exchange, which was fine. However, all was not fine when I was sent a shipping address to China and found out the cost to send it back would be several hundred dollars. It would have costed me more to ship them back than what I even paid for the heels.

Things got even worse when I was told I couldn’t ship them back to a closer location despite them arriving in the mail from a California address. But, the real kicker was that the heels on Wildly Untamed Boutique were one hundred and fifteen dollars and were selling for forty on the brand’s own website. I am, now, basically stuck with a pair of shoes that are entirely too big and there is nothing I can do about it.

Despite all of the major annoyances and disappointments, I do really love these shoes and it is a shame that I am just now saying that close to the end of the post! An edgy black wedding dress and veil can only be paired with the edgiest of heels and I truly feel like I got exactly what I was looking for.

There are so many fun surprises on these Show Story heels like the studs on the toe, side zipper, and skull charm. The best part, of course, is the vertebrae ultra high heel that I think are just the coolest. Not only are my heels the ultimate in goth chic but they were really easy to walk in, even in a slightly damp, grassy backyard. I am a seasoned heel wearer and my feet didn’t even hurt at the end of the night, either, which shocked me!

Although there were ups and downs to this purchase off of Wildly Untamed Boutique, I felt awesome in my Show Story heels and that is all you can ask for on your wedding day!

Where do you find the best unique shoes? Have you ever had a similar online shopping experience to mine? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
