Hey everyone and happy Hump Day! Okay, so on a recent post that I made talking about how I enjoy learning new languages, I got so much positive feedback and some great tips. Thanks for that, by the way! Many of you mentioned the Duolingo app in your comments, and I decided to give it a go and I am in LOVE!!
Normally, when I’m learning a new language, I just like doing the tapes in my car and practicing on my own. I had heard of the Duolingo app before but never thought of giving it a try until it got such positive reviews from my readers. I am SO thankful for that, because I am enjoying it so much!! I’m working my way through the French lessons as a fun refresher and then I plan on starting Spanish within the next month.
I just can’t emphasize enough how pleased I am that you guys shared such positivity for the app with me, because I’m bullheaded enough that I would have just kept trudging through doing things my own way without it. Learning a new language is such an amazing workout for your brain and if you are interested in a great mental workout, then Duolingo is the way to go. I can now join the rave reviewers, because within a handful of days, I have become obsessed!!
How do you practice a new language? Are there any other handy language apps that you like to use? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

This is the only app that I trust enough to use, to be honest. I have been on and off with it for a few years now. But, it’s definitely fun and easy to use. I need to get back into it, because I want to be multi-lingual. Knowing 5-ish languages (partly) is just not enough for me. I can’t wait to read more about your progress. Miss you, Sarah! XOXO β€

I use it regularly too!! I use Rosetta Stone, which is great, but I love Duolingo because I can learn on the go without any restraints!
What language that you are learning is your favorite?

I’m learning Spanish, because it is my boyfriend’s mom’s first language and because of where I live, it would be beneficial to learn!
I am actually fluent in American Sign Language. π It is such a fun language to know!

Good for you!
I’ve used a variety of different language learning tools, and came to the conclusion that:
Despite the help of technology, we still need a huge dedication and practice to become competently fluent in a language. But langauge apps can certainly help you achieve conversation level, of that I am certain.

Omg! I love duolingo!!! I’m taking French and Spanish with them. I took a couple of sign language courses in college. asl.ms is a good sight to brush up on your skills

Try duolingo’s sibling Tiny Cards. It’s flashcards for pretty much anything. You can make your own flash cards too. I use both to learn Norwegian and crochet.
