Beauty Bloggers: HELP!!

Hello everyone and happy weekend! Once upon a time, I had the longest, fiercest, and sharpest acrylic stiletto nails in the world. I loved them so damn much but unfortunately, the price of upkeep was just getting to be too much. I’ve been without my talons for a solid half a year now and I’m missing them something fierce. But here’s the rub, I really don’t want to pay for acrylics now that I haven’t been shelling moolah out for nail maintenance for six months!

I’ve been trying to grow my nails out to at least get them somewhat lengthy but I’ve been having a really hard time. After the removal of my acrylics, my nails were really brittle and would barely grow. Luckily, I’ve moved past that stage and my nails can and are growing. My nails start out strong in their effort to grow out but then they will reach a certain point and just get flimsy as can be. We’re talking that if I bent them hard enough, they would probably break.

I would really love some suggestions from the beauty gurus on here about how to strengthen and grow out my nails. I’ve been trying to keep my nails hydrated with hand creams like I’ve been told on Facebook. I also recently just applied a hardening base and top coat when I painted my nails over the weekend because my BFF said that that might help. I know that I’ll never get my real nails to be anything like my old claws seen below but I would love to at least have some length to them!

  1. Make sure you put hardening nail polish underneath the nail on the tips. And if you start noticing cracks use a little bit of clear superglue. Also just like acrylics, use gloves when washing dishes! Best of luck!!

  2. This may sound odd but when I was younger my parents always used to give me raw jelly cubes to help strengthen my nails etc. It might be an old wives tale but trust me it works!

  3. I have the same issue as you my nails are so weak!!! When using nail strengthener I put it on like nail varnish then sweep the brush on the other side of my nail (like the back bit) just so it makes them a little stronger, also you nails likewise your hair are protein so eating lots of protein and staying hydrated help x

  4. This may be obvious and you may already do this, but I always wear a clear nail varnish even if I don’t have polish on, as this stops them from breaking or going weak- try ‘Sally Hansen Hard As Nails’ – http://www.boots.com/en/Sally-Hansen-Hard-As-Nails-Clear_853/
Or the ‘Miracle Nail Growth’ – http://www.boots.com/en/Sally-Hansen-Miracle-Nail-Growth_20817/
These work well for me after getting acrylics off, hope this helps in some way x

  5. I have naturally pretty long and strong nails but if I were you I honestly would buy gel and a uv light to do upkeep your self. Watch a few YouTube tutorials on how to use it. Gel itself and a brush would like $20 and you can get a little cheap uv light from Amazon for probably $25. Actual gel (not acrylic) will help your nails grow, can look natural, AND you can use nail shaping stickers to mold the nails you want!

  6. You already have suggestions, but more can’t hurt 🙂
Nail breakage is connected with lack of vitamins and should be „treated“ from the inside as well as it should be „treated“ from the outside.
Try to include B-vitamin in your everyday dietary. B6 is good but if you find one with all 9 of the vitamins it would be even better and it’s called B-complex. You can also use B-vitamin in pill form, tablet (or whatever is called in other languages) and it’s also good for the hair too 🙂 Overall is good supplement. Vitamin – C also helps. Breakage of the nails is also connected with iron deficiency. Basically, load yourself with vitamins but as I’m sure you already know, you should also consult with your doctor about what will be best for you as individual because everyone is different 🙂

  7. I’ve recently tried this and it honestly works amazingly!!! Just follow all of the steps. It’s all organic and you won’t have to buy any crazy mystery products off the internet that may or may not work!!

  8. Try Biotin vitamins sweetie. I take them and they are excellent for strengthening hair and nails. You can get them at any drug store. I like the nature made brand but any brand should work. 🙂 Hope this helps
