Hello! For those of you who don’t know, I am not the biggest fan of ever changing technology. For example, I refuse to get a smart phone and have been rocking an old school slide up for the past ten years. Lol, my phone can call and text and that’s all I need. The day I have to get a smart phone? I guess you can call me on the landline. ๐
I have been a WordPress blogger for going on seven years now. I have always enjoyed the simplicity of the original editor and it did not take me long to whip up visually appealing posts thanks to the handy tool bar with literally anything you need on it. So, you can imagine my disappointment when this new block editor came into play and we have to use it now.
I’ve gotta say, this new editor is a hassle and it has been taking me forever to figure out how to use it. The worst part? You actually can get the old editor back. However, you can only get it back if you update your plan to a Business one which will allow you to use plugins. It just so happens that this upgrade is over two hundred dollars a year!
Obviously, I am not going to change to a business plan just to get the old editor back but the principle of it is kind of shitty. Yes, I will get used to this new block editor and I know I am being petty right now. But, damn! Your girl needed to vent, lol. *Deep breath* I think I feel better now. ๐
How do you feel about the new editor? How long have you been blogging for? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
I’m there with you and the support is horrible. A bunch of condescending links to instructions to activate a classic substitute. Why can’t they implement it? They changed it overnight, why don’t they turn on the classic editor. I can’t even link sights through texts. Nothing is intutitive or clearly labelled. I end up with a very busy screen or no simple options. Thanks a lot wordpress!

I knowwwwwwwwww. It seriously takes me a half hour now to knock out a post I could have made in ten minutes on classic. -___-

Iโm not a fan of the new editor either tbh. Its overly complicated, and it took me a few posts to really get it down .

ABSOLUTELY HATE IT to the point where I have considered just not writing anymore. The aggravation just isn’t worth it..too many other aggravations in life right now.. you have to wonder which geniuses thought this was a great idea— in 2020.

Here’s a hack: if you add /wp-admin/ to your blog url it takes you to the old dashboard and you can access the classic editor from there…for now…

I absolutely agree, I had such a hard time adjusting and outright ignored The new editor because I thought it was confusing! ๐ค
I am learning little by little, and whenever I understand a new tool in The editor, it feels like I just won The lottery๐๐คทโโ๏ธ
