Hey! This past Friday I spent the most wonderful time getting pampered at the Shear Shop and it was absolutely glorious. As always, my amazing stylist, Anna, crushed and it was so much fun to hang out with all of my salon girls for the afternoon. The Shear Shop is, indeed, my happy place. How can it not be when I leave with hair like this?! Check it out:

The blonde was a result of bleaching and brightening!

I was obsessed with my hair the last time I got it done but I wanted more of everything. More of my new favorite hue, the coppery orange Shag Rug, and more of a shag style cut to match! The last time Anna did my hair, we decided on a denim blue and copper motif as well as something a little different for my next appointment. Rather than color over some streaks that were bleached, Anna was going to leave them blank, add some brightening, and see what happens. That is exactly what we did and the end result speaks for itself!

A week prior to my appointment at the salon, I start washing my hair to bleed out the color which makes bleaching it so much easier. We always start my sessions with bleach and this time it only had to sit for a little over twenty minutes to wipe the slate of my hair clean and start again. Once the bleach was out and my hair was dried, it was time for Anna to paint the dye and give her so crazy it might work idea a go. She began by painting the bottom layer in Shag Rug and then moved onto orange and denim stripes on the top. As she applied the color to the top layer, she pieced out blank streaks and added brightener. There was literally NO transfer of color to these “blank” pieces and she really is a genius. ❤

The color sat for about forty minutes and then Anna carefully washed my hair to avoid any color transfer. And, yes, the water was icy cold just how we want it! The last step was elevating my shag cut. I love the really choppy look of retro men’s shag cuts and told Anna to do that but make it feminine. She definitely understood the assignment! Once she was done, my hair was a tribute to all things 70s and it can only be described as groovy. The cool orange, custom blue, and those improvised blonde streaks work so well together and the shag cut ties it up in a bow with the ultimate throwback vibes. This new do is everything I pictured in my head and I am SO happy that it came to reality!
