Jumpsuit Jams OOTD

Jumpsuit Jams OOTD

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new OOTD here on lifewithlilred! Last weekend, I had absolutely no time for an OOTD shoot but I did have free time last Thursday after work and made the most of it by styling two brand new outfits. I couldn’t wait to break out my new goodies from my TJMaxx haul and I felt amazing in them! To start, we’ll take a look at my look with a super cute jumpsuit by Japna and keep it posted for my OOTD featuring my other purchase, the Sincerely Jules pants, coming soon. Let’s get to it:

image_50439169(6)image_50436609(3)image_50424577(4)image_50406145(4)image_50430721(3)image_50419969(6)image_50402049(5)

Who? What? Wear?

Jumpsuit: Japna, TJMaxx

Floral Platforms: Qupid, TJMaxx

Floppy Hat: Brandy Melville, PacSun

Accessories are from Target, Claire’s, and American Eagle Outfitters

Styling a jumpsuit was a different experience for me because there really wasn’t too much to do in terms of styling! But, that is the true beauty of a good jumpsuit; you merely have to slip it on and go. For a moment, as I was assembling the few pieces that this OOTD consisted of, I thought to myself that this was too simple. I guess I am still used to dressing up in multiple layers to beat the cold weather with! However, as I was putting on the finishing touches in the mirror, I found that this minimally styled look still had a lot to say and sometimes, simple is best.

Obviously, there isn’t much to report about the jumpsuit because the pants and top are built in lol but we can talk about why it worked so well! This was the first jumpsuit that I have found in years of searching that had everything I was looking for: A flattering shape, the pants weren’t too long, and there were no personal no nos like a plunging neckline or weirdly placed cutouts. But, what truly made this jumpsuit the one for me was its color. Don’t get me wrong, I love a bold hue as much as the next person, but this pretty linen shade provided the perfect backdrop against all of my colorful tattoos. With this combination, it turned my ink into accessories instead of something that would be clashing if this jumpsuit were blue or red, for example.

I have tried on countless jumpsuits in the past that were cute, yes, but way too long in the legs and not even my tallest pair of heels could fix that. In bare feet, this jumpsuit hit right at the ground and this was something that I could work around with a good pair of platforms. For shoes, I selected a pair of floral platforms my Qupid that gave me the extra length I needed while still providing a fun pop of pattern. Unfortunately, the pants of the jumpsuit were still a bit too long to get the full effect of the shoes, but I can’t make myself taller and that’s a small price to pay for finally finding a jumpsuit that I like!

With the base of my outfit ready to go, it was time to accessorize. As soon as I tried my jumpsuit on in the fitting room, I pictured it with a floppy hat and went with that initial inspiration. I chose my black floppy hat by Brandy Melville, which I love, and thought that the silhouette accomplished was oh so chic. For jewelry, I kept things minimal since my tattoos were out in the open. To add some extra length near my neck, I went with a simple pair of gold chain earrings and added a few statement bracelets and rings. And, with that, my OOTD was complete!

I felt like the absolute queen of a garden party in my Jumpsuit Jams OOTD and I am excited to wear this look out and about. This elegant but playful fit is perfect for farmers markets, afternoon cocktails, and fun in the sun! Tune in tomorrow for the blooper reel from this shoot!

Have you updated your wardrobe for spring? Is there a certain style of clothing that you have been hoping to find for a while? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

OOTD: Grungy Chic Edition

OOTD: Grungy Chic Edition

Hey everyone and happy weekend! A few weeks ago, my super cool photographer beau took some super cool pictures of yours truly that I wanted to share with you. Not only are the pictures fabulous, but I loved my grungy chic outfit that meshed perfectly with the graffiti that was under the bridge where we were shooting, so this can be an OOTD post, too. Check it out:

graffiti2graffitigraffiti3graffiti1

Who? What? Where?

When I’m styling a grunge inspired look, it’s important to me that there’s more going on to the OOTD than just a fresh out of the 90’s garage band ensemble. Anyone can throw on an oversized flannel and call it grunge, but adding your own personal touches to the look is what takes it over the edge. This is why I opted to throw some glam accessories into the mix to make the chic in “grungy chic” appropriately used.

I started styling this look with a fairly simple base in mind. I opted for my frayed capri skinnies from Loft to add some cool texture. I also felt that these looked more rough and tumble than your standard ankle skinnies. And, of course, nothing tips its cap to the 90’s more than a Nirvana themed crop top.

The decision for what to wear over top of my Brandy Melville crop came next. And, rather than going with your traditional baggy flannel, I went for a sleeveless hoodie, instead. I liked what this Kyodan piece brought to the table for several reasons. 1) It was still oversized over a more tight fitting top. 2) I liked the visual break up it gave to the outfit. 3) And, finally, this hoodie offered a lot of variety in ways that you could wear it. From unzipped to zipped or with the hood up, it gave options. This is essential in styling any outfit but, especially one that you’re being photographed in.

To complete this look, I began accessorizing. I didn’t want to go overboard with accessories, but I wanted each one to make a statement. I also didn’t want to upset the color palette that I had going, so I stuck with more subdued pieces. The gold hoop earrings were a definite must, because they added the perfect touch of glam while still being really sassy and fun. They also move well, which makes for interesting shapes in pictures.

I chose my white Foley + Corinna purse in this look because, even though it was a neutral color, the stark white popped so nicely against the bleak palette of the clothing. It also offered hints of grunge with the chain link strap and the spiked decals. Finally, to bring pure glam rock into the look, I went with my Forever 21 platforms. I loved how the different shades of black in my OOTD played against each other and, any outfit of mine wouldn’t be complete without a Lil Red in it! ;D

This outfit made me feel like a total rock star, but the overall price of it fit into my struggling artist budget as a majority of the pieces came from TJMaxx. My Grungy Chic OOTD is a good example of how you can incorporate multiple different styles into one look by accessorizing. This OOTD gave a nod to all things rock and I felt like I was ready to take on the stage because of it… In my dreams, at least!

How would you style a Grungy Chic OOTD? How do you use accessories to complete an outfit? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Monday Update: Business Casual Edition

Monday Update: Business Casual Edition

Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s Monday Update here on lifewithlilred! As my graduation from Tri-C is approaching at the end of the fall semester, I’ve been doing my best to gradually add some Business Casual attire into my wardrobe. I lucked out and was able to find the most adorable button down top from Loft while I was out shopping with my mom and I got it for a STEAL. I scored this originally fifty dollar shirt for eleven bucks! Take a look:

^^^ So cute!

Loft is a store that I would never go out of my way to go in to. I have a few really nice pieces from there but other than that, I’d rather be in Forever 21! However, my mom loves to shop at Loft and she had hella coupons on top of a forty percent off sale that they were having so she wanted to spend some time in there to see if she could find some deals. I like trying to find clothes for my beloved mother so I went in, too, so we could browse the store together.

For the most part, nothing was particularly screaming out at me. I’m only twenty-two and a lot of the clothes there definitely looked like it was for women older than me. But as I was perusing around the store to look for clothes for my mom, I came across my new button down top. I liked that it was short sleeved and I thought the pattern was just darling. I wasn’t anticipating on liking it enough to buy it but I figured that it wouldn’t hurt to try it on and see.

Obviously, I ended up liking it a lot considering I’m writing about it! When I first had it on, I didn’t know what to think. It was the most grown up thing that I’ve ever tried on before but I kind of liked that. The top also looked awesome with what I already had on – a black Brandy Melville maxi skirt and army green Guess wedges. The more I studied myself in the mirror, the more I liked what I was seeing.

I think the fact that the shirt looked so professional and put together was a plus. But I was more drawn to the fact that I could wear it for work and play. I imagined all of the different ways that I could wear it while out and about – tucked into a pair of shorts, paired with black skinnies and a cardigan, or exactly how I was wearing it in the fitting room. This top had endless possibilities outside of wearing it to school, work, and my internship and that’s what made it so fun.

After weighing out all of the amazing pros that this top had to offer, I could find no cons and knew that it had to be mine. I was really happy that I wound up finding a new addition to my attempt at a more grown up wardrobe and I was even more thrilled that I got it for such a great price! Nothing beats paying eleven dollars for an originally fifty dollar brand new to the store top!

So there you have it, this week’s Monday Update: Business Casual Edition! How do you sport a business cashe look? What stores do you shop at to achieve it? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Lil Red’s Beach Getaway Essentials

Lil Red’s Beach Getaway Essentials

Hey everyone and happy Saturday! I hope all of you had a great week and are getting into a lot of fun adventures this weekend. I know that I just went on vacation but I’m already in desperate need of another one and thanks to my friends at HomeAway, I’m able to discuss my must haves for a Beach Getaway this summer. Take a look at the super cute graphic that was designed with my list in mind and let’s discuss:

HAY-GetAway-Sarah

When Lil Red hits the beach, the five items that I have listed above are what I wouldn’t dare to leave the house without. Let’s talk about each item in a little more detail!

  • Sunscreen: SPF One Million is everything when you’re pasty pale and are spending a day having fun in the sun. Unfortunately, I always end up burning anyways but the fact that I make an effort by putting sunscreen on makes me feel a little better about it!
  • Floppy Hat: I have three Brandy Melville floppy hats and at least one of them has to come with me for a beach getaway. I have one in black, mauve, and forest green. The black is perfect to counterbalance my bright striped bikini and the mauve one is awesome for an evening stroll on the sand.
  • Sunglasses: My eyes are incredibly sensitive so I refuse to leave the house without a pair or two of my many sunglasses from my collection. A huge pair of don’t look at me shades are definitely a necessity to save me from the squints and to give my face some extra protection from the sun.
  • Gladiator Sandals: I consider every time I leave my house a fashion show so a knee length pair of gladiator sandals to strut about in are my beach footwear of choice. Make sure to pack a cute wrap skirt and crop top for a ready to wear outfit when you leave! Whether you do some shopping on the pier or go out to dinner afterwards, gladiator sandals are totally beach chic.
  • Victoria’s Secret Bikini: The Getaway style bikini from VS is literally the best thing that ever happened to me. I have never had a bikini that has fit so well, provided perfect support, and is so fabulously cute. My bikini is horizontally lined with gorgeous lime green, teal, white, and pink stripes and features metallic gold tie strings. I’ve never been very confident in two piecers before and the Victoria’s Secret Getaway style bikini has been a total game changer. Hello, beach goddess!

I want to thank my friends at HomeAway again for providing me with such a fun graphic and I encourage you all to check out their site so you can start planning your perfect getaway!

So there you have it, Lil Red’s Beach Getaway Essentials! What are your vaca must haves? How do you sport a beach chic look? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

New Clothes!

New Clothes!

Hey everyone and TGIF! I recently added some new clothes into my wardrobe thanks to Target, Kohl’s, and TJMaxx. I initially wanted to go shopping to add some business casual clothes into my collection for my internship and work but that didn’t stop me from picking up some steals for summer, too! Take a look at my latest purchases:

What & Where:

  • Olive green Pink Republic sweater: Kohl’s
  • Emerald green Candies cardigan: Kohl’s
  • Pretty Rebel coffee tee: TJMaxx
  • Mossimo cloth shorts: Target

After scrounging through my wardrobe for clothes to wear to do family interviews for my job, I came to realize that I’m severely lacking in the business casual department. It’s not like I want to show up to a family’s home looking stuffy but I also don’t want to look like a twenty-one year old running errands for the day. I thought that the perfect remedy for this was some lightweight sweaters and cardis to throw on and not burn up in, considering summer is fast approaching in Ohio.

The olive green sweater is perfect because it’s a three quarter length sleeve and the material is light enough that I’m not going to sweat through it by walking up someone’s driveway. My favorite is the emerald cardigan, though! Emerald green is my favorite color to wear because it accentuates the pasty pale and red hair. My new cardigan is great for just throwing over a top and going out the door because it instantly makes an outfit look more put together. Last week, my best friend came over and I was wearing my cardi and she just so happened to be wearing the exact same one except it was grey. That’s BFF telepathy right there! I couldn’t handle the cuteness.

With summer time just along the horizon, the one thing that I really need is SHORTS! I have the hardest time finding shorts that I like because everything is high waisted and that fit is just not flattering on me and 99% of the population in the slightest. All I want is a simple pair of normal/low rise black shorts. Is that too much to ask? Apparently the answer is yes because not one store had what I was looking for. I love the little cloth shorts that I got from Target but I’d really prefer some shorts in a non-cloth fabric if you know what I mean. SO if anyone has some suggestions on a good place to buy shorts, please let your girl know!

Finally, my fun new coffee t-shirt! While shopping at TJMaxx, I came across this cute little top and it was only ten dollars! I just had to get it, considering it was such a steal and I’m coffee’s number one fan. This shirt reminds me of Brandy Melville designs which I love so I was happy to add such a sweet and cheap new top to my collection! Thank you, TJMaxx. πŸ˜‰ ❀

Hurray for New Clothes! Who’s been doing some summer time shopping? What is the best place to score some new warm weather looks? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Monday Update: Graphic Tees, Please Edition

Monday Update: Graphic Tees, Please Edition

Hello everyone and happy Monday!! This Saturday, Kohl’s treated me very well with some darling new graphic tees to ring in the new year. Usually I’m not one to go gaga over t-shirts but I just couldn’t help it…They’re so much more than that!! Take a look at my latest purchases:

^^^ I love them! ❀

If there’s one thing that I love, it’s shirts with fun sayings and images on them. I don’t have a ton of tees in my wardrobe so when I saw all of these fantastically cute tops, I just had to indulge. Normally I would never buy three t-shirts during a shopping trip – I try to mix it up with various pieces. However, all of these tops were different enough that I wasn’t even mad about a threepeat purchase.

As many of you know, I looove Harry Potter more than anything so I was sold when I saw the maroon top with all of the Potter symbols on it. I like how this shirt doesn’t go right out and say “HARRY POTTER” or feature a character printed on the shirt. This top was much more subtle, which is what drew me to it. My family has been to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios twice and I never bought a shirt from there so this one definitely makes up for it! Now I can run around the neighborhood wearing this top and wielding my wand. EXPECTO PATRONUM!!!

As far as the grey shirt goes…How can you not buy that? Haha, like I said, I love tops with silly sayings on them so this one was perfect. One of my favorite tanks in my wardrobe says “LA DON’T ❀ YOU” and now I think I have found a contender for funny slogans! When I showed my mom this top, she replied with, “I don’t get it”, so lucky for her I’ll be posting the video to “Milkshake” at the end of this post so that she understands. Hi mom! πŸ˜‰

And last but not least my black and white “NOPE” shirt. I was at Kohl’s prior to this shopping trip and I remember thinking how much I liked this top when I saw it but I didn’t try it on. When I returned to the store on Saturday I looked for the tee but could only find it in a large. I was a bit disappointed but continued my rounds around the store.

When I ended up back in the Juniors department (yes, I’m a 21 year old who still shops in the Kohl’s Juniors department), I looked around one more time and I saw the shirt flung on a shelf. I picked it up and was so happy to see that it was a size small, which is what I need! I rushed back to the fitting room to try it on and it was just perfect. It reminds me a lot of Brandy Melville tops, which were some of my favorites when I worked at PacSun. The way it fit was great, too, because it hugged my body nicely but was by no means tight, which is exactly how I like my clothes to fit.

I was so happy with my newest purchases from Kohl’s and I’m really excited to wear them during my spring semester at school! I can’t wait to create lots of cool and edgy outfits with my graphic tees. All three of them are going to be great for dressing up or down so it will be fun to see what I come up with!

So there you have it, this week’s Monday Update: Graphic Tees, Please Edition! I hope everyone is having a fantastic start to their week. Who has done some post holiday shopping recently? Where is the best place to score a great sale price? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Fall Shopping Fun

Fall Shopping Fun

Hello everyone and TGIF!!! This past weekend I enjoyed some Fall Shopping Fun with my mom and got a cozy long sleeved shirt from Francesca’s that I’m seriously obsessed with. Take a look and have a laugh:

francescas

^^^ Ahhhh, I love it!

My mom and I took a trip to the mall to utilize one of her coupons at LOFT and we ended up taking the Summit Mall scenic route through a few of our favorite stores. We ended our outing in Francesca’s and the first thing that I spotted among all of their darling fall collection was this crazy comfy heather grey top and I knew that I had to have it. I snagged the shirt from the rack (and was lucky enough to grab the last size small) and headed off to the fitting room to give it a try.

As soon as I entered the dressing room I stripped off my top and pulled the silly slogan-ed smock over my head. I looked in the mirror and was so happy to see that it looked cute as can be. It’s made to be longer and a bit baggy which I personally love. It’s the perfect snuggle up shirt for fall and the material is SO. FREAKING. SOFT. I seriously wanted to keep the shirt on and wear it out of the store once I bought it but my original outfit was pretty snazzy so it needed some show off time!

If you’re familiar with the cuddle worthy fabric of Brandy Melville shirts and hoodies then you’ll know exactly what my new shirt feels like…So in other words, perfect. I adore tops with edgy patterns and sayings on it and my newest purchase is no exception. And to those of you who are curious about the “I told my therapist about you” slogan I’m sporting, the answer is: yes, I probably did!

So there you have it, my first Fall Shopping Fun post! Make sure you tune in tomorrow for a new issue of If The Shoe Fits: Michael Kors Edition, which also ties into my cold weather shopping spree! What is your favorite fall clothing item? What are you most looking forward to this fall season? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

Monday Update: Weekend In Wisconsin Edition!

Monday Update: Weekend In Wisconsin Edition!

Hellooooooooo everyone and happy Monday! After a beautiful weekend in Wisconsin, I’m back in Ohio and here once again to bring you the latest and greatest. My oldest brother Peter graduated this weekend from the University of Wisconsin with a PhD in Chemical Engineering, so my family packed up the car and headed up to Madison, Wisconsin for the ceremonies and quality time with my brother and his fiance, Megan. We left around eight o’clock in the morning on Friday so we could make it just in time to the five o’clock ceremony at the university. We arrived in Wisconsin around four in the afternoon, which is awesome considering we got stuck in the bowels of Chicago traffic for an hour. -___- We arrived at my brother’s apartment to freshen up for a bit, and then we followed him and Megan to the university for the ceremony. Here’s some pictures from ceremony numero uno!

IMG_3537[1]IMG_3538[1]IMG_3434[1]IMG_3432[1]DSCN0068DSCN0052

  • PicStitch 1) Peter looking scholarly as hell in his graduation robes!! Hubba hubba!
  • PicStitch 2) Peter and his fiance Megan being precious. They’ll be getting married at the end of July, which is pretty exciting! The pictures in this collage are a combination of the ceremony on Friday and the second one on Saturday. So cute!
  • Photo 3) Yours truly sporting her graduation best! As usual, here’s the breakdown of what I was wearing from head to toe:
  • Floppy hat: PacSun, Brandy Melville
  • Lace blazer: Blue Boutique, Esley
  • Floral dress: TJMaxx, Mine
  • Telephone purse: Macy’s, Betsey Johnson
  • Cream lace up wedges: Kohl’s, Juicy Couture
  • Photo 4) My sister Kristen and I doing the damn thing!
  • Photo 5) Peter and I!! I love this picture so much and I can’t wait to get some copies printed out so I can frame it and put it in my room where I can see it every day. And I must say, I was really feeling my outfit that day, as Kristen so appropriately Snap Chatted in my featured image with the caption “she’s feeling herself”. Hahaha
  • Photo 6) All of my siblings and future sister in law! From left to right: Kristen, my brother Andrew, Peter, Megan, and yours truly!

So the ceremony on Friday was for all of the PhD graduates at the University, the ceremony on Saturday was specifically for the engineering department. There’s not much to say about either ceremony other than the fact that it was boring and the only exciting thing was seeing Peter strutting his stuff across the stage. Thank goodness for free WiFi in the building, because I would have blown my brains out from boredom. πŸ™‚ After the ceremony we found Dr. Peter and went out to dinner at this super yummy Mexican restaurant, Laredo’s. I was SO hungry and completely annihilated my vegetarian dish. I also may or may not have ate an entire bowl of chips and salsa before our food arrived. Whoops πŸ˜‰ My family was so tired after dinner, so we headed to our hotel to check in for the night. We stayed at the Cambria hotel, which was not too far from Peter’s apartment. The hotel was really nice – especially their insanely comfortable bed and pillows! Their pillows were seriously like resting your noggin on a big, firm marshmallow. Seriously, as soon as your head touched the pillow you could feel it forming to your cranium and it was incredible. My mom and I both agreed that we need to find a pillow like that ASAP, because they were fabulous.

On Saturday we woke up relatively early so that we could get ourselves ready for brunch and the second graduation ceremony at two o’clock. For brunch we went to an absolutely amazing predominantly vegetarian restaurant called the Daisy Cafe, and oh my god it was to die for. Everything was SO good! I got a roasted vegetable omelet with goat cheese and a side of sourdough toast. My omelet also came with breakfast potatoes and a slice of fresh pineapple and cantaloup. It was a breakfast fit for a queen, and it was absolutely perfect. The cafe was decorated beautifully on the inside with bright poppy colors and mosaic artwork. It was also gorgeous on the outside as well, with mosaic pieces and mechanical statues in their garden. Take a look:

IMG_3536[1]

^^^ So pretty! If you recall, I wrote about a place that my family visited during our summer vacation to Wisconsin called Dr. Evermore’s, which was a park filled with incredible mechanical sculptures – some big, some small, and all equally impressive. I’m pretty confident that the robot, dog, and flower sculptures at the Daisy Cafe are all done by Dr. Evermore. The resemblance is too uncanny not to be, as you can see by these pictures:

IMG_0174[1]IMG_0164[1]

(You can read more about Dr. Evermore’s in my article “Dr. Evermore’s (The greatest place on earth)” !!!)

After a delicious brunch, we went to Peter’s apartment to primp and beautify, then we headed back to the university for the second ceremony. This one was actually a lot more enjoyable than the first because it was a lot more intimate since it was only the engineering PhD’s and their families at the ceremony. We got excellent seats and were able to see Peter very clearly, which was great considering we couldn’t even find him on Friday. Here’s a few pics from ceremony numero two:

IMG_3512[1]IMG_3491[1]DSCN0095DSCN0153_1DSCN0193

  • Picstitch 1) While taking pictures with my mom, she said that she’s not selfie material…I say FALSE!!!
  • Picture 2) Once again, Kristen and I doing the damn thing.
  • Picture 3) Hanging out with Dr. Peter! And as usual, here’s the break down of what I was wearing:
  • Trench coat: PacSun, Jack
  • Army green wedges: TJMaxx, Guess
  • (Underneath the trench I was wearing the blue dress that Kristen had on during the Friday ceremony, which is from Express.)
  • Picture 4) Peter in line to receive his diploma!!!! What a stud!
  • Picture 5) The look Peter gave me when he realized I was taking his picture! Hahaha

The Saturday ceremony was a lovely time, and once we met up with Peter afterwards we decided to walk around the shops close to campus for a while to work up our appetite because we were all still so full from brunch! Andrew, Peter, Megan, and my mama spent time in one of the stores with a lot of Madison sports gear, while Kristen and I opted for Urban Outfitters. We both got a gorgeous new dress, which you’ll all be seeing sooner or later this week! πŸ™‚ After an hour and a half or so of shopping, we were all hungry enough to eat, so we went to the Great Dane, which is one of Madison’s staple restaurants. Naturally, the Great Dane was hopping with graduation celebrations and Saturday night tom foolery, so we had a half hour wait for a table, which was fine by me because I still wasn’t all that hungry. Once we got a table, we ordered cheese curds for an appetizer, because you kind of have to when you’re in Wisconsin. When in Rome, as they say. πŸ˜‰ Unfortunately, our meals took a fairly long time to arrive at our table since the restaurant was so busy – but that’s okay because the food was so amazing that it didn’t matter. I ordered a peanut stew, and it was legitimately the best thing ever. It was cilantro rice, butternut squash, red onions, and red peppers all drenched in a peanut sauce. So delicious! Everyone really enjoyed their meals, and after our late dinner, we went back to Peter’s apartment to unwind with some silly television shows before we went back to our hotel for the night.

Yesterday was my brother Andrew’s 26th birthday, and unfortunately most of it was spent in the car for our drive home! (Happy birthday Andrew! I love you!) We met up with Peter and Megan for a quick breakfast at McDonald’s and then said our goodbyes. The next time we see them will be at their wedding! We were on the road by ten-ish and made our long trek back to Ohio. We arrived home in Cuyahoga Falls around seven thirty and I was soooo happy to be out of the car to stretch my legs and most importantly, go to the bathroom. We only made one stop during the entire eight and a half hour drive, and let me tell you – my bladder was probably ten minutes away from exploding. It was AWFUL! After unpacking, we celebrated Andrew’s birthday with some cake and then went our separate ways to unwind for the night. I for one slept like a combination of a rock and a baby and it was simply terrific.

My weekend in Madison, Wisconsin was absolutely wonderful and I really did have the best time ever. I’m so damn proud of my brother, and it was so great to be able to watch him walk across the stage twice! We ate tons of delicious food, that I’m going to have to work off because I swear I gained fifty pounds and had lots of beautiful family quality time. Our weekend getaway was a definite success!

I hope all of you enjoyed reading “Monday Update: Weekend In Wisconsin Edition!” as much as I did writing it! What did everyone do this weekend? Anything exciting? I wanna hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah

OOTD: Cardi Party

Whatup crew! I was really digging my outfit today, so I had to take an obligatory mirror selfie while shopping at Kohl’s this afternoon. If you aren’t aware, their winter sale that’s happening right now is fabulous! So many great deals it made my lil red head spin! πŸ˜‰ Today I was rocking a fairly simple look, but I felt awesome in it and confidence is key! Here’s a pic of my Cardi Party OOTD:

As usual here’s the breakdown of all of the items in my look:

  • Floppy hat: PacSun, Brandy Melville
  • Cardigan: PacSun, O’Neil

I absolutely adore this outfit. Today was a pretty lazy day, so this look was something that I just threw together to go running around in. Lil Red refuses to roam around Akron, Ohio in just jeans and a t-shirt, so of course I had to throw on some items that would make my outfit more unique. For starters I added my favorite rosary necklace that my mom got me from Target. For seconds I threw on one of my oldie but goodie cardigans from when I worked at good ol’ PacFun. (This cardi is at least three years old and it’s still fabulous!) To literally top off the look, I put on my new ten dollar on sale Brandy Melville hat from PacSun. This hat was actually the first purchase I made at Pac since I quit in September. It’s amazing how uncute their clothes got to me after not working there and not getting a discount (ha!) so I never really felt the need to buy anything after my employment. But ten dollars for an originally thirty-five dollar hat?! Hello, you’re not gonna not buy it! I really like how the mauvey gray color in the hat matches one of the colored stripes on my cardigan almost perfectly. Color coordination at its finest! πŸ˜‰Β  I was eager to break in my new combat boots from Journey’s today, which I also bought while ballin on a budget! Twenty dollars for an originally sixty dollar boot! HOLLA. Everything about this look felt cool and effortless to me. I felt like such a diva strutting around in my floppy hat and sunglasses. I also really dug the way my boots looked with my snake skin print jeans. #blackonblackonblack Unfortunately the print doesn’t really show up on pictures because the pattern is so subtle – but I promise that they’re super cute! IN CONCLUSION: This outfit made me feel like a boho/punky/cool/chic woman on the go today. What more could you ask for in a look?

Funny shopping story: I was at Target with my mom today and I totally bought notebooks with One Direction on them for school. I’m twenty years old and I’m bringing One Direction notebooks to college….BUT THEY WERE ON SALE!!!! (And I have a major crush on all of the 1D boys – SUE ME FOR IT!!!!)
