Hi everyone and TGIF! Lil Red has come down with a really unfortunate summer cold this past week and, rest assured, I am absolutely miserable. Don’t be surprised if you don’t hear from me this weekend because I need to get some rest and I also have a lot to catch up on from my sick days. But please tune in for next week’s Monday Update, because I will be announcing the lineup for my Falling For Fall guest bloggers series, which premieres on the 29th!
How do you beat a summer cold? What are some of your home remedies for when you’re feeling unwell? I want to hear from all of you, so leave me a comment and let’s chat! Much love. -Sarah
Sorry to hear! My go to is GoodBelly.com but you need to drink it regularly in order to be effective. It builds up your immune system and also helps with digestion/IBS issues. I suggest Mango, it’s just like OJ. You can find it at Whole Foods, Mom’s Organic Market and Giant. Let me know if you try it! Feel better soon! 😄

If you’re looking for home remedies, ginger water is perfect, if you can drink it. Just boil some ginger in 2-3 glasses of water, let it cool down a little and drink it slowly. Works like magic. The simplest thing is also warm water, hold it in your throat for a few seconds every sip. They work, and they don’t make you feel like death every time you breathe in or out.

Interesting!! I don’t have any ginger on hand so I’ll definitely give the warm water a shot since that’s pretty easily accessible lol thanks! 🙂

Straight zinc, not Zicam. This will shorten a cold in any stage it’s in and prevent one from actually starting if you think one is coming on. Other than that, lots of rest, chicken soup, and orange juice.

Where would you get straight zinc from?? That sounds like what I need!!

As well as all of these great tips^^^Drink loads of hot honey and lemon (boil water then just add 2 tbsp of honey and two slices of lemon). Steam your face regularly to clear your sinuses and maybe even buy a nasal saline solution spray. Take your suppliments Vitamin C and Echinacea. Besides all of that just rest, but do pick yourself up every now and then for a walk around the house and don’t stress yourself out. Aw, I hate being ill 🙁..I hope you get better soon ! 😙

Sorry to hear about your malady. Summer colds are the worst! Except for this one with bad news, I always enjoy your posts. My favorite cold remedy is Emergen-C. It makes me feel better within the hour.
